Oniwa Kye| Satetsu | Speed/Combo | Otogakure | Kage ||| Shinobi Profession: Taijutsu Specialist || RPC Profile || Kye simply stood and listened as Raphael spoke, rambling on and on, almost to himself most of the time as was evident when he would ask a question and then failed to stop and wait for a response. Unwavering, her cloak stood motionless about her and her eyes followed him as he moved about, yet her face revealed no emotion as the boy ran through his thoughts regarding the mission. As he closed to the end of his monologue, Kye was finally able to piece together why he had been bandaged rather then healed, as it seemed it was his choice. As soon as he stopped speaking, Kye was quick to follow, hoping that her assertiveness would shock him out of whatever depressed frame of mind he was in.
"You're a fool." Kye said abruptly as she stood over him, her stature commanding his attention... "You have said many times that you made mistakes during the mission and you're making yet another one now. One would think that if this mission taught you anything, it is that you're not yet equipped to make your own decisions. If you make the mistake of accepting your wounds, choosing to wear them for the entirety of your life, you will be wearing the mark of your failures for the rest of your days. As noble as it is to think that such a mark will remind you of your failures and spur you on to success, it will only brand you to live in your failure for the rest of your life."
Kye continued to stare at the young man, hoping to bore the words deep into his psyche as she began to assess his actions throughout the mission. "You did not panic... you only failed to think. It is not because you were not trained properly in the academy, it is because you did not listen to the instruction you were given. You did not fail to follow my orders simply because you thought I was a mere citizen, or else you would never have followed me in the first place. The second you considered yourself 'higher' or 'wiser' then a 'mere' citizen of this country, which you have so solemnly sworn to protect with your life, you have failed in your duty as a shinobi."
Kye let those last words sink in for a second before continuing forward... "You knew full well that the explosion seals could have killed you or the hostages at anytime, else we would not have bothered to remove them. Stop lying to yourself and face your actions! Accept the healing touch of the medics here before it is too late and you are forever marked by your mistakes. You are taking the easy road to lie here and feel noble about your actions, wallowing in your failures, vowing to forever remember them. Purify yourself... wash away your mistakes and become a blank slate again. You have the greatest sealing master to ever walk this earth in your midst... you have already received a lesson from him. Make yourself whole again and allow him to build you up... or sit here in soiled cloth and carry your failure with you for your entire life. The choice is yours... I suggest you make it quickly."
"...and if my words do not sway you, then remember your own... 'I didn't follow your orders simply because I thought you were nothing more than a citizen. It doesn't matter if you are or not, but I should definitely learn to listen, even to those below me when they are offering advice.' "Currently Wearing : Chakra Shroud + Casual Outfit

" Please, don't push your ideologies on me. " Raphael said looking at Kye now, his smile completely gone and his tone serious. " I know that this is the mark of failure. It isn't meant to make me stronger, or to remind me. It is punishment. I can't be punished by my own village because it wasn't a mission given to me by my masters, but rather a foreign citizen. " Raphael said, looking away from her and back out the window. She see his hands grip tightly, red peeking out, almost pulsating. The fleshy bits beneath were throbbing, and bright red, like the color of blood. Horrible scars were obvious, and there was no sign of the pink pale flesh that had once been there prior.
" I know it isn't because I was trained properly, I wasn't trained for that at all. You can't be improperly trained without having been trained. " Raphael said laughing in his new manner. " I didn't follow your orders because someone I respect more told me otherwise. You friend, Yasashii, he told me to destroy the tags immediately, while you said to destroy them at a later time. " He said laughing a little harder and grabbing his sides. He still wasn't fully healed. " You're not changing my mind, as far as I'm concerned. Citizens are what shinobi protect, but they are not as important. A single shinobi, let's say the Kazekage, can protect dozens of citizens. How many Shinobi can a Citizen protect? " He said as he shook his head. " It is my job to protect them, but not for them to forget their place. Experience is the teacher of a fool, while history is the teacher of the wise. Which are you? Did you learn from history and use that to avoid it repeating itself? Or... " Raphael said, looking directly into Kye's eyes, " Did you think you could avoid the vicious circle of history only to have it happen all over once more? " He said his face grim. He had no idea if he was onto something, or that Kye had been away when her village had been destroyed. " Long story short, even if you're more experienced, History tells us Shinobi are more powerful than citizens, and as such are more powerful. " He said, the smile once more returning to his face.
" Quite contrary, I had no idea of it's abilities. I've never been trained to deal with them. I only know what they look like, thanks to Yasashii. " Raphael said smiling as Kye became more irate. " Who are you to tell me to accept medical treatment? I seem to be able to tell one side of your body is damaged. " Raphael said, looking at Kye's missing arm. He couldn't tell her actual defect, just that something was wrong with that side. It didn't match up, either she had a shriveled useless arm, or something was missing. He could see both feet, but not both arms, not even a single hand. " You're telling me that Yasashii won't teach me simply because I've accepted punishment of my own accord? " Raphael said smiling at Kye, a wide toothy grin. The remnants of his lips could be seen peeking out. They were gnarled and seemed mostly gone, only there enough to form sounds. " You're correct about one thing though. The choice is mine, but I've already made it. " He said, his smile shrinking into a normal look.
" Oh, I remember what I said earlier, and I'd like to point out one thing. You didn't offer any advice, you gave me orders, much more so, you yelled at me in an assertive tone. Not the greatest thing to do to someone who just got blown up and might be in a tenuous place with their own mentality. " Raphael said clapping his hands together, then his eyes opening wide as he slowly spread his hands apart. His jaw slowly dropped as his hands grew distant, in a shocked pained look. " Owwie... " He said, chuckling slightly as tears welled up in his eyes.

Oniwa Kye| Satetsu | Speed/Combo | Otogakure | Kage ||| Shinobi Profession: Taijutsu Specialist || RPC Profile || Kye stood silent, but in amazement of the young child who called himself a ninja before her. Any pity or desire she had to help him left as soon as he uttered his disgusting words regarding the roles of shinobi and citizen. Her wise eyes stared at the child before her digesting all that he said, yet quickly dismissing it for the folly it was. He spoke like he was a wise man deep in thought, yet none of his words had any sliver of thought or wisdom behind them. A great sadness came over Kye, though it was not due to any feeling of doubt or misgiving Raphael had rested on her. This sadness was one born of seeing one with potential slink away to rot, forsaking all that they could achieve for the dreams that existed in their head, dreams which could never be realized.
The sadness, after lingering a few minutes turned to anger as much of what the child had said offended her to the very core of her beliefs. She thought of all the lives such a child's attitudes would ruin, the citizens he would look down up and oppress with his false piety, the people he would ultimately fail with his wayward beliefs. Kye at once considered knocking the child out with a single blow and placing his chart in the emergency surgery ward so that his wishes would be denied and he would be healed. But no... that would only serve him in the end. To restore his body to him would enable his wish to be a true shinobi. Kye would leave him marked as he was, forever wishing to serve a role yet forever falling short of what could be. She would not allow him to become a stumbling block for others.
Kye considered a final comment to the child before she left, but realized it would have no purpose. There was nothing to prove to this child and nothing he would allow himself to be taught in her words. So, without a word, Kye turned and left, leaving the boy to himself. Leaving the room and closing the door behind her, she turned her back to the child forever and left the medical center, blending into the crowds once more as she disappeared from sight.Currently Wearing : Chakra Shroud + Casual Outfit

" Huh, I guess she didn't have anything else to say. " Raphael said, looking at the doorway now. He let out a sigh, looking back out the hole in the wall. He'd liked the company, too bad they hadn't shared his views, she seemed like she could have been a nice friend. Sure, he kinda got what she was saying, but she didn't even understand his point of view. He messed up, so he needed to be punished. He'd regrow a bit of skin, the Medics wouldn't allow him to walk around without skin completely. They'd just give him the bare minimum to actually function, rather than his full body. It was a steep punishment, but Raphael didn't particularly like doing things half-assed. He didn't think that the village would punish him, although he really didn't know for sure. He thought it would be odd since he was given the opportunity by a civilian, rather than an actual shinobi in the village.
He sighed and slunk back into his bed, keeping the blanket off of him. He'd been getting quite warm recently, odd since he had little to no insulation without the skin. He rolled on his sides, grunting and murmuring to himself. " Ugh, this is soooo boring. " He said sighing and sitting straight up. He looked around, thinking about what he could actually do. " No ink, no pens, can't remove the bandages, and I can only assume walking would be horrible. " Raphael said sighing as he looked around. " Kyoko is probably gone by now, so going after her wouldn't work very well, and yelling would be idiotic. " He said sighing once more. Would everyone react like that? He just couldn't wrap his mind around it, why did people care that much about how he treated his body? He didn't chastise people with facial scarring from fire before this, why would one do it to him? It's not like he actually had much of a choice, all of the skin was burnt. It was all leaving in the first place, he just didn't want the skin graft, or to be completely healed. He just wanted enough to function, not to look pretty. Relying on his appearance seemed stupid, Yasashii himself had laughed when Raphael had attempted to obtain a presence through normal means. Now Raphael had a presence simply by existing! Sure he'd have to wash regularly to keep from smelling like a corpse, but he could always clean the bandages and soak them in scented water. Ah, oh well. He'd just have to work in the shadows. Kinda fitting actually, a Nara clan member living in the shadows. Deer would die easily in the desert, maybe he could tend to some other animals... Flesh eating scorpions? Raphael laughed lightly to himself at that thought. " Flesh eating... Hahahahaha! " He muttered between breaths and gasps of pain from laughing. No, no, Flesh eating scorpions might not be the best option, or even allowed within the village. " Maybe I should get a pet rabbit. I'll call him Snuffly, Or maybe a... Dog? No, Dogs seem to run away often. " He said sighing and leaning back in the bed, crossing his arms and placing his palms on the back of his head. He had partially forgotten about the words Kyoko had told him, and instead went on a thought tangent to think about possible animal cohorts.

 Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Field- Medic|| Yohei||
At about the same time Kyoko left the Medical Center, Enro sat on an unoccupied gurney in fresh, beige robes. They were gifts from one of the hostages who, being the fiance of the son of a seamstress, visited the medical center to bestow a gift upon her saviors. The doctor told her that Raphael was in no condition to where such clothes when the fabric could easily irritate his skin - or the lack of it.
It fit well on the well-built man and included a slightly darker wrap around his midriff as well as a indigo scarf. It included a hood and a scarf to protect his face from grains of sand carried by the wind. The fabric was quality, extraordinarily light and soft to the touch. It could do with some leather reinforcements and some armor plating but it served Enro well as civilian wear for the time being. As usual, he was unadorned with any equipment that would identify him as a ninja save for simple katana nestled in the folds of the scarf about his waist.
As he sat, Enro was attended to by a young kunoichi who shyly asked him how his arm was feeling. It was never a serious wound and, once more pertinent patients were received, the medical shinobi were able to add onto the first-aid applied by inexperienced nurses by entirely healing the wound and ensuring no scarification would occur. They advised bed rest for him but he had no intentions of doing anything of the sort. Once the young kunoichi finished her questioning he would immediately depart to perform another mission, intent on receiving payment.
It was only through sheer luck that he passed through the wing containing Raphael. He spotted his name on a clipboard hanging near the door and, without really knowing why, entered the room. His footsteps, though light, would certainly alert Raphael to his presence. If not, the amount of space he suddenly occupied would do just that.
He stared unsympathetically down at the boy's ruined body, his eyes hard and dark. His face betrayed no thoughts and for an awkward period of time he said nothing.
Then.
"I hear you refuse to recover your skin. Why is that? Have you given up on being a shinobi,"
The questions were very straightforward, expressing his interest in Raphael's justification of his actions. In all honesty, he was surprised the boy survived with intact limbs. He'd seen many men - bounty hunters and soldiers alike - blown apart my explosive tags at close proximity. The pale boy - no, now he was the red, fleshy boy - was indeed lucky to be alive.

" You! " Rapahel said turning quickly and smiling at Enro. He sprung up in his bed, wincing only a moment from the sudden movement. He couldn't remember if he had gotten Enro's name or not. He thought it was Enro, and remembered the crushing grip of the man, but couldn't remember if he'd directly told him his name. " Those are some nice clothes you've got on. " He said smiling as he looked at the indigo clothing Enro now sported. " As you can see, I'm going through a change or wardrobe myself. " He said pausing for a moment to realize Enro already noticed. " Oh, I apologize. I had something on my mind earlier. " He said, placing his hands together and bowing.
" Not all of it, just most of it. I'll naturally regrow some with the help of hte medics. " He said shaking his head. " If I had skin to spare, I'd just do what I did before and rush head first into the open. No, I think it would be much more acceptable for what I really want now. I want to remain in the shadows. " Raphael said looking to Enro. " I'm telling you this because I trust you and think you won't go telling everyone we both collectively know. " He said, his face grim in comparison to the smile he had had seconds before. " So that's why I elected to have less skin. I would have fallen back to being a merchant's son, and eventually take over the business if I hadn't, or if I'd become injured beyond repair to continue my shinobi studies. As for your second question, " Raphael said taking a brief pause to breathe a bit. It was really hot underneath all of those bandages. He picked at them for a bit, letting out a bit of a sigh of relief when he eventually cooled himself down a bit. " No, contrary to what people believe, I'm assuring my place as a shinobi. I can get no other means of work in this condition, and we're going to need someone who can appear weak and frail should we ever need the element of surprise. You stick out like a sore thumb in a crowd. The other boy, Sarutobi, is somewhat obviously an assassin. Secretive and the like. Me? I can be me, just not talk about shinobi life, and have a good back story, and I've got a fairly good infiltrating ability. All in all, I plan on remaining within the village, and carving a place out for myself. I'd like to protect the villagers, and punish those who have hurt them. " Raphael said taking a moment to breathe once more.
" So, how did the fight go? I apologize for being incapacitated. " Raphael said laughing lightly and placing his hand on the back of his head, realizing there wasn't anything there to scratch really. He took his hand and brought it in front of his face, a smile spreading across his face as he placed his other hand beneath and dropped both to his lap.

 Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Field- Medic|| Yohei||
"A flesh-less boy sticks out far more than a grown man, in my experience," responded Enro, raising an eyebrow as he ran his dark eyes over the boy's bandaged form. Beneath the bandages was surely a gruesome, fleshy sight. Even if he chose to wrap every inch of his skin in bandages and cloth, he would stick out in the fact his face would be bandaged. Of course, he could always wear a mask. Not exactly inconspicuous but less so than a fully wrapped head.
"You've elected for a very painful existence. I'm not sure," he hesitated hear, choosing his words with a little more care "I once had an accomplice, a young little girl who suffered from a rare disease that left her extremely sensitive to sensations such as touch and pain. The degree of sensitivity was so great, she covered herself in bandages doused in ointment and avoided physical contact whenever possible. About half way through the job, a guard dog sunk its teeth into her leg and never have I seen so much pain in anyone's face. You face a very similar existence if you follow this course of action. The art of close quarters combat will be lost to you and you'll only be a liability in such situations. If you want to erase your identity and start over again, live in the shadows or whatever...apply for reconstructive surgery, change your name if you like. But keep your flesh, you'd only be a liability, especially on any team of mine,"
Well his words weren't exactly sensitive but they were far from hostile. Raphael possessed a very strong sense of pride in his village, enough to rely on him to accomplish great feats provided he was properly trained. Enro didn't believe his full potential could be reached, if the risk of infection threatened the boy whenever the mission required getting dirty. His full potential definitely couldn't be reached if he lacked the physical abilities to hold his own in a close-quarters fight. Enro didn't want to have to lay the boy to rest for shackling the progression of the mission but he would do so without blinking an eye if it meant success for him.
"It wasn't much of a fight. I rendered the bomber unconscious and took out the smaller guard before the big one dislocated my shoulder. The smaller guard managed to score a pretty good hit in the same shoulder with one of the kunai you threw. Afterwards, everything is pretty hazy. It'll come back by the time I have to make a report,"
Enro didn't mention Kyoko and the cloaked shinobi at all. He didn't see the need to inform anyone about her appearance having already decided to record that a member of the ANBU saved his life and defeated the enemy.

" Ah, but isn't it sometimes easier to hide in plain sight, rather than stick to the shadows? Wait... Okay, let me rephrase that. " Raphael said hearing his contradiction. " While I'd stick out like a sore thumb, I'm neither strong, nor do I produce a particularly strong sense of power. You on the other hand, seem like you'd be able to crush boulders with your pinky. " Raphael said laughing at his hyperbole. " Basically I'm saying that sticking out isn't all that bad if I can stick out as something I'm not. A weakened villager, seeking refuge in another village. Able to gain some semblance of trust on the feigned distrust of the previous village. " He said smiling wryly his burnt lips showing slightly.
" I know, but I kinda like it. " Raphael said leaning back in his bed again. " It gives life just a bit more flavor, up until now I've never even left the safety of what has been allowed by my family. Now that I'd bring nothing but regret to my family name, I can easily do what I couldn't before. " He said chuckling lightly. " You're right though, until I regain a tiny bit of flesh, things will be quite painful. I'll also have to change my bandages every now and then. " He said shaking his head. " But I'm also going to be fairly good in close quarters combat. I'm a descendant of the Nara clan, I can keep enemies immobile while someone like you beats them senseless. " He said looking up to Enro's face. " If I find it is too difficult to function with the small layer of skin I'll regain, I might elect to undergo reconstructive surgery. " Raphael said smiling and shaking his head. " One thing about being skinless, I can regain it at any time through a graft. Unlike if someone lost an arm or something. " Raphael said laughing. " My choice is always going to be revoked. " He said smiling. " And if I did want to get my skin restored it would have to be from a graft, my own skin was ruined in the blast. I can't take skin from someone in the state the village is in now even if I wanted to. " He said shaking his head. " I'm lucky I have my eye back. Although I might spring for an upgrade at some point. " He said laughing and shaking his head.
" Ah, I'm sorry, I meant for both of those Kunai to be used by you. " Raphael said shaking his head as he looked down. " At least you came out okay. If you need any help with the report, I'd like to help in any way possible. " Raphael said smiling up to Enro. He really wanted to help, having been basically useless aside from keeping the hostages out of the blast range by absorbing it with his body. Raphael did find it slightly odd that Enro couldn't remember what happened after he defeated the vagabonds. Enro didn't seem like the kind of person to forget things on a mission, especially having just recalled a story from presumably quite a while in his past.

 Tenrousei Enro || Genin || Field- Medic|| Yohei||
Enro nodded his head as a reply to Raphael's words, folding his arm over his chest as he did so. "I see," he finally said, once Raphael finished talking. The boy was very talkative and it was very easy to gather information from him as a result. Already he knew the boy belonged to a once-infamous component of a strategy involving three ninja clans from the Land of Fire. Unbeknownst to most ninja, militia's picked up on these strategies and found ways to implement them into combat though they were never as effective and required far more soldiers to execute.
He also knew Raphael was raised by merchants who may have pampered or smothered him at a young age. He believed they thought him a disgrace as well. These two factors likely contributed to his desire to destroy his former identity. Enro withheld judgement on the whole case as his primary reason for seeking out the boy was now fulfilled.
"In that case, I wish you luck in your endeavors. I'll return to rebuilding the village,"
With that Enro would leave Raphael and exit the medical center, his long legs carrying him at a brisk pace. As usual, crowds of people parted slightly in his presence making his departure a relatively smooth process.

 | Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin ||| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile ||The medics had given up by now. Whatever it was that had consumed this shinobi wasn't something that could be healed by medical ninjutsu. One young medical shinobi had originally been called to attend to the young man collected at the scene where the Kazekage had fought the intruder, but soon found herself in need of medical attention herself. Found shaking on a bed, as if in a nightmare of her own, she showed her hands to have been badly burned when all she had reported doing was attempting to diagnose his wounds. When a senior medical shinobi was called in, it took all of her will to even diagnose the young man, and even then, she could feel his body working against her the whole time, as it was waging an internal conflict against her chakra.
The young man was not, in most medical terms, in critical condition. His wounds were minor in most respects and only small gashes and bruises needed any true healing touch. The rest however was a medical mystery. The young man seemed to shake and convulse and every now and again, chakra would escape from him and damage the surroundings. Eventually, they had to place him on the ground in a well fortified room to keep him from destroying more medical equipment. It was the most curious thing any of the shinobi in the center had ever seen, a young man locked in what seemed like a comatose state, shaking as if wrapped in a permanent struggle as his face and body contorted to show signs of extreme pain coursing through him. Still, no medical treatment, nor any drug could reverse what looked like blackened electrical or chakra burns which were streaked over the entirety of his body.
His clothing and affects having been placed aside, the young man was left in the cold room alone as the rest of the staff had no clue what else to do. They would simply wait and see if he ever recovered. His records were eventually found and the medical shinobi found some clues to his condition. He seemed to belong to a strange bloodline, one that almost no one had ever heard of before, and those who had thought they knew, had only heard rumors and had no true information that could help. " Well, you're talkative. " Raphael said sighing and laying back in his bed after Enro had left. He shook his head in disappointment. Enro had been extracting information, not even seeing if Raphael was okay, as evidenced by his quick departure. " It seems that no one in this village is very talkative. Sometimes I wish I could have been born in a different village. " He said sighing as he looked around. He had nothing to do, his skin wasn't scheduled to be partially restored until others were tended to, and he didn't feel like rushing the medics.
" I don't even have anyone to talk to now... I wonder how badly walking would hurt. " He said thinking about just getting up and walking outside. He shook his head and sighed to himself. " I guess I should start thinking of what animal I should play with if I'm ever allowed to have one. " Raphael said, returning to thinking about an animal companion instead of thinking of the crushing loneliness that he was feeling. He'd recently been hurt horribly, and no one wanted to come by and speak to him for anything more than to convince him he was wrong, or to extract information from him. " So this is what being a shinobi is like huh? Being alone constantly with no one to rely on? Maybe having stayed in the family business wouldn't have been so bad. At least then he'd have stayed with people he could talk to, or even do what his great grandfather had done and built and empire, then overdose on opium. Most people didn't know that, but Raphael's grandfather had inherited the opium ring that started the family, and then gotten rid of it by sectioning it off, and redistributing it to other villages. Raphael wasn't too certain, but he was pretty sure that all the heads of the Opium branches had been sold out, and the family had grown due to it, as the police force paid well for such information. In any case Raphael decided it would be good to rest, and pass the time much faster.

 | Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin ||| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile ||Lost and paralyzed within a nightmare of pain, Shinji had no choice but to bear it, his mind and body having no strength left to hold back the flood of his chakra. Simultaneously, his chakra tore at his body seeking to escape once again as it had before, tearing through at any exit it could find to the outside, causing him to descend further into the agonizing pain he was already trapped within. What was only a few days seemed like years to Shinji as his mind fought to explain the pain he felt in a series of nightmares which repeated themselves over and over again in his mind.
Shinji found himself forced to relive his failures over and over again in his mind. The torturous pain of his childhood, the time he had lost control and triggered the raging spirit when he was young, the destruction of his village which he had failed to save, and his inability to avenge those who died when he found the man responsible. Each iteration ran through his mind, each time the pain growing as the memory was twisted to involve more and more painful scenarios. On every attempt the medics made to heal his wounds, Shinji felt a surge of pain and his body would convulse, his mind manifesting the action as a fatal wound leading to even more instability.
So it continued in what seemed like endless waves of never ending pain and terror until finally, one day after he had been isolated, after his body had held off the storm long enough, his body fell naturally into a meditative state. There, laid out on the ground in the room he had been isolated in, a red shimmer of feint chakra surrounded him and for the first time in almost a week, Shinji's body stopped flailing, convulsing, and shaking and was totally at peace. Inside his mind, following one final view of the destruction of his village, a white light filled his vision and he was instantly transported to a peaceful and serene world, high up on a mountain cliff at the base of a waterfall...
Shinji laid quietly for sometime, at first unaware of the change in his surroundings. However, after several minutes, the sound of the rushing waters made him aware of the dream around him and he opened his eyes to the peaceful serenity of a world he knew well, but which he knew did not exist. His body still aching, even within this world which was normally painless, he pushed himself up off the grass floor of the high meadow and walked to the cliff, looking down at what was a recreation of Iwagakure in it's prime, flourishing with life. Shinji stood for sometime staring down at the village, but began to despair, knowing that it was not real and that it was merely a figment of a dream. Sitting at the edge of the cliff, he let his feet dangle in the open air as he stared down at the village, his spirits falling with each passing moment, occasionally wiping away a tear which escaped and betrayed the depth of his loss.
"Why do you cry my son?... do you not see the beauty which lies before you?" Shinji didn't bother to look up, and he was not surprised by the voice. Continuing to look down at the village, he felt the arm of his father, who was a constant presence in his meditative dreams, grasp his shoulder and sit down next to him. "What beauty is there in something that does not exist Father? Iwagakure is dead and it died on my watch. I could not even avenge it. I have failed in my entire life's mission. What beauty is left for me to see?"
A long silence filled the air and it seemed to Shinji that he had stumped his father, and yet still he waited and hoped for the older, wiser man to prove him wrong. "The only failure I see is in your inability to know what it is that you see in front of you. You have seen this village in your meditation every day since the village's destruction, yet have you not realized what it is? Look at the village, it is different then it once was... the buildings have changed, they've been moved around. This is not the Iwagakure you knew... it is the Iwagakure that will be... it is the one that you will build." Shinji looked long and hard at the village as his father spoke, his head lighting up once again, as he noticed the changes in the village his father pointed out.
"You cannot fail so long as this Iwagakure remains. As long as you are alive, there is still hope."
The words echoed in Shinji's mind as he was ripped from his dream, his body aching with pain once again, but this time his eyes flooded with light once more. Unable to move, the last words of his father repeated in his mind as his eyes slowly filtered and processed his surroundings. He was in a small room. It was stark white, except in the places where massive craters had been made in the floor and on the walls. He was awake again, yet he remained on the floor, processing all he had experienced in the week he had been incapacitated.[Chakra Reserves: 60 / ∞] [Stamina : 85/85]

" Excuse me, I seem to have forgotten something here. " Raphael said walking up to the counter of the medical center. " You see, I was admitted with highly damaged skin, and I was wondering if I could get it back, or maybe restored back to normal? Maybe a bit of reconstructive surgery too? " Raphael said smiling at the woman, but careful not to expose too much of his small tender flesh bewteen his lips and his bandages. " Um... Yes, right this way. " The woman said motioning for him to go behind the counter. Most of the place was quiet, and all the current patients were intensive care, but were primarily stable. It was actually quite a surprise to the woman that things had died down so fast. But then again, this village was slowly becoming more and more strict and reigned in. It was kinda nice having a strong leader for once. They'd had Koizumi who basically let you do whatever you wanted, then the drunk lady who let the village get attacked by... Somethign called a cloverfield. Now you had the child David, a strong leader who held extreme power. It would be nice to have a stable government for once after changing kazekage three times in only a couple of years. The woman led Raphael into an area where a lone medical shinobi was sitting, smoking a pipe and thumbing through second hand books. Thankfully they weren't second rate medical books. But they certainly weren't allowed in the surgery room. "Doctor! You've got a patient." The woman said tapping her foot audibly. "Ah! I'm so sorry." The doctor said, turning to face the woman and quickly shoving the books he had been intently studying into his desk drawer. "So what can I do for you today young man?" The doctor said looking at the boy and adjusting his glasses. The Doctor's face was wrinkled slightly and weather beaten. His shade a golden brown from his time as a field doctor in the desert, and his body showed he had once been a strong large man. "I dare say you want some skin back, but what else?" He asked, chuckling. He'd dressed corpses before, or stripped the skin off of someone as an interrogation maneuver, but this boy didn't even have much more than a layer of skin. "I'd like to have reconstructive surgery. I don't want to look the same once my skin is back. Could you do this for me?" Raphael asked, looking at the man. The guy was kinda odd. He seemed great as a medic, and possibly even greater as a shinobi. It made Raphael wonder if it was possible to simply become too old to function in the shinobi world. Raphael's line wasn't one where he was needed on the front lines, so he probably would never be too old to draw seals. "Ah, yes yes... Let's see what I can do." The elderly man said shakily rising from his seat, then disappearing from sight. A quick tap would be felt by Raphael as the man appeared behind him and placed a swift chop to his neck, knocking him unconscious. "Nurse, please assist me with the procedure." He said laughing as he carried the boy's bandaged body to the table for surgery, unwrapping Raphael's bandages as he walked. ~~~ "Wake up my boy!" The doctor said cheerily as Raphael began to come to. His face kinda hurt, but it wasn't awful. It more or less just stung. Looking around Raphael didn't see anything but the doctor and the nurse. "Here boy! Look at your new face. I couldn't think of what clothes you should be dressed in, so I just chose some of the ones we have lying around here." The doctor said laughing once more. He held up a mirror for Raphael to see his own reflection. "Oh, wow. You've out done my expectations!" Raphael said, excited. He looked pretty cool. No one would recognize him unless they listened intently to his voice. Could he possibly change his voice too? Oh well, that would be another trip to the hospital. "I've got to get back out there and help now. I'll pay later." Raphael said smiling and running out the door, pausing just a moment to realize that he didn't ache and hurt by moving. "Yay!" He said pinching his cheeks and sprinting as he moved them around. "I kinda like that boy." The Doctor said chuckling to himself. "At least one of us does." The woman said, sighing as she walked back to the front desk.

 | Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin ||| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile ||Shinji laid on the floor for a long time after waking up from his final dream. His mind had much healing to do even after his body had recovered from the agony and assault of the raging spirit. He wrestled with the last words he heard his father speak in his dream and in the darkness of the room around him came to a final conclusion. Though it had been his father who spoke to him in his dream, the words could not have come from him. Surely, his subconscious created an incredible likeness of his father in his dream state, but somewhere, deep down, the realization of the Iwagakure in his dream came from his own soul. His mind had simply manifested the thought to be delivered by his father, as the image represented wise and trustworthy counsel.
Feeling a wave of pain flow over him, Shinj closed his eyes, but instinctively sat up, still resting on the floor, but now sitting upright as a natural response to move and act through the pain. Lingering there a while longer, Shinji began to realize where he had truly failed. He had allowed his hatred of Jishaku to blind him and he had allowed the tragedy that had befallen the Iwagakure to consume him. Shinji could now see the battle as a third party observer, realizing how he had allowed his emotions to take over and inevitably control him. It would seem that David had played on his nerves a bit to bring about such rage, but it was Shinji's unresolved feelings and weakness that had allowed it in the first place. He had forgotten the cardinal rule of all Konaga, which was to always remain in control of their emotional state in combat.
Reflecting for some time, Shinji suddenly found himself smiling again, but now it was different. As if a great weight was lifted from him, Shinji felt a peace through all the tragedy that had befallen him and for a second, he felt a calm fall over him and it rushed through his veins, invigorating him. Standing up in the middle of the room, Shinji turned his neck in a circle and stretched as one who had been sleeping for a week would. As he did so, a nurse happened to check in on him, and rather surprised to see Shinji standing up, burst into the room and seemed rather concerned for him... "Shinji-san, please don't stand up... you were critically injured, you need to take it easy!"
The nurse rushed over to him, but was halted by his hand as he turned around and smiled to her. "It's alright, I'm fine. There is much about my people that normal medicine can not explain, and I apologize for any confusion or harm I may have caused in my previous state. I can assure you however that I am alright now... no doubt due to your efforts and those of your colleagues." Shinji spoke with a calm and eloquent tone and smiled at the young woman, who was a breath of fresh air to see now that he was awake again from his nightmares. Looking down at his hospital robes, Shinji laughed with a short chuckle and then looked up to the nurse... "Could I ask for my effects to be brought to me? I would like to check out as soon as possible."
The thought then suddenly occurred to him that he did not know if the village was still under attack and grew suddenly concerned with the fate of the village. Clearly, the hospital was still in operation, but that didn't mean that the battle he was a part of was won and he had no idea how long he had been out. "Wait!" he said as the nurse was just about to leave... "The village, is it safe? Was the battle won?" The nurse smiled and nodded her head as a great look of joy came over her face... "Yes, the village was kept safe by the Kazekage. He took out the intruder and the man has been contained by ANBU. The village is now focusing on reconstruction and healing the damage which was done."
The nurse left to fetch Shinji's things and Shinji was left to breathe a sigh of relief. But then, suddenly, one part of what the woman had said struck him as odd... "The Kazekage?... when did the Kazekage show up? Only me and David were fighting Jishaku at the time. Did he arrive after I had blacked out?" Shinji was left to ponder this for some time, but he did not press the nurse for more information when she returned with his items. He dressed himself in his normal attire once more, which had been washed and pressed for him and slung his weapons into their usual positions. Standing for some time, fully dressed and prepared, a smile came over Shinji's face once more as it felt good to be back, the weight of his weapons on him bringing him a sense of comfort.
After filling out the necessary forms, Shinji then left the hospital, ready to continuing to forge the path which was set in front of him. For the first time in a long while, he knew what he wanted to do and he was ready to see his dream come true.

For the second time in his life, David found himself waking up in a hospital bed. At least this time he'd expected it. His hand slowly moved to his chest, running across the edge of a series of papers on string. Sealing talismans meant to suppress the Ichibi. The same as they had used during his coma. A week ago, judging by a nearby calendar, while he was putting the finishing touches on his new office, he had been approached by a medic. Apparently, they had continued researching his condition even after he'd woken up last, and they felt they had perfected a cure. A way to advance his growth to where it should have been normally.
Being small had never truly bothered David, but he was understandably tired of having it pointed out to him. Being treated like a small child when he was in the academy, looked down on, literally, by people younger than him. That idiot from Kumo deciding it was a good idea to mention it right in front of him in the most condescending manner possible. No, he didn't mind being small, it was the treatment he was tired of. So when they told him they could fix it, but would need to put him back into a medical coma, he agreed.
Sitting up, slowly, he could tell some things were different already. The bed seemed just a little lower, his feet further away. His hands fascinated him for a few moments, as they seemed so much larger than before. Removing the talisman string, he set it aside, spinning in the bed to face the door as he removed his IV as well, simply letting it drop. Luckily he hadn't been out long enough to where they decided to stick tubes in him for feeding. That was one experience he had needed physically cleansed away.
There were two doors to this room. Evidently he had his own bathroom. A nice change, since he wouldn't need to go searching for a public restroom again. But for now, he sat to wait. Removing a heartbeat monitor from his finger would alert them he was awake, and a medic would soon arrive to explain things. He didn't need them showing up while he was in the bathroom.
Sure enough, a few moments later a pair of medics entered. One dressed as a doctor, the other a nurse. The nurse set a wrapped package on the bed beside him and left the room, while the doctor pulled up a chair. ”You're right on time Kazekage sama, I was on my way up already when they told me you were awake.” he said as a greeting as he sat. The man's mouth froze midway open as he looked up again, eyes suddenly locked onto David's own with a frown. David's eyes in turn narrowed, digging into the man in question. ”What?” he snapped, breaking whatever trance the man had fallen into.
”Your eyes sir... he started, grabbing a mirror out of a bag he'd brought in with him and handing it to David. ”They're golden.” Sure enough, as David lifted the mirror to examine his face, his eyes had turned a deep golden hue. It was no wonder the man had frozen, as David's natural eye color had been blue. It was a pleasant color he thought, but he frowned at the implications. The only time a jinchuuriki's eye color changed was when the demon was feeding them chakra. Which should have been possible through the talismans.
Leaning forward, the doctor held out his hand, glowing with a diagnostic jutsu which he ran over David's face several times before setting back into his chair. ”It's strange, but the change is physical. It's not forced either. Evidently the talismans effect was weaker this time. We shouldn't risk a third or you might have more severe effects than cosmetic changes.” he warned, sitting back again, leaving David with the mirror.
”You've grown about ten inches. Not quite enough to make you “Tall” per se, but you aren't quite a midget anymore either.” David nodded to his explanation, wanting to be upset at the jab, but unable to, since that was why he was here in the first place. ”We got you some new clothes to match.” the doctor added, pointing to the package the nurse had left behind. ”Since you were still wearing the last clothes we got you, we made sure to pick ones that would last. And didn't look quite so much like a schoolchild's uniform.” David's lip curled at that, but the anger receded quickly as he sighed and nodded. It was true, he'd just not cared enough to get new clothes. And the ones he'd had didn't exactly fit his position.
Picking up the packet, he opened it up, tuning the doctor out as he rattled off figures and information the young man really didn't care about. Opening up the package revealed a full outfit, one he swore he'd seen archaeologists wearing when they wandered through, searching for old ruins in the desert. An odd choice, but he didn't mind. It was at least more fitting.
He tuned back into the man's speech when he heard him mention hair. He hadn't really taken much notice of it before, but his hair did seem... Was much longer than it had been. ”We didn't cut it like we did last time around, since you weren't under very long. Having your body growth accelerated also accelerated your hair growth. You can get it cut if you want, but there is a hair tie in the package if you'd rather keep it. I'd recommend using it just to keep the hair out of your way until you get it cut either way.”
David tuned the man out again, retrieving the tie, a simple white bit of cloth, from the package while examining his hair in the mirror, thinking about it. On the one hand, there were horror stories about ninja caught by their hair. On the other, David wasn't a close range fighter, and he had heard of jutsu that could actually turn that hair into a weapon. You had to pity the man who grabbed a ninja's hair when that ninja knew a jutsu to turn their hair into razor wire or a pile of spikes. Yes, that made the decision. He'd keep the hair, and check into those jutsu as soon as he had the chance.
Ignoring anything else the doctor thought important enough to mention, David stood up from his bed, grabbing up the packet of clothing and heading into the second door in the room, his private bathroom. He then spent a couple of minutes examining himself from various directions in front of the room's full length mirror, before getting dressed and doing so again. Smirking, quite happy with his new appearance, the young kage grabbed himself a drink from the faucet, washing his mouth out from the taste of sleep, and left the room. Finding that the doctor had apparently taken the hint and was no longer present, he smiled, and left the hospital room, and the hospital itself soon after. He had work to do. Thankfully, that work didn't include his office just yet.
