He was never going to see things her way, and she often wondered why. That quote he just made seemed to be nothing but justification to relieve himself of the fear he let dwell within him. Nothing could be done though it seemed. Maybe one day he'd get over it on his own. Monks spent much more time much less successfully striving for enlightenment.

Within the arena the shadows seemed to swell as if alive. Bubbling as if a pool of lava the form of man rose from murky darkness. Glowing like two fireflies within the cowl of his cloak he watched the other two present.
"Yes...the Jedi were always a willful bunch..."
Shedding his hood the sage bowed his head in greeting towards his student and the Jedi Knight.
"How do you both fair?"
As he spoke the shadows about him seemed to writhe as if feeding off the light that would normally cull them.

Valin shook his head, "I find great comfort in the Force, actually. Its something to strive for, something to fight for. The Light Side is just a harder path - a path sometimes I fall from when I find the Dark Side easier to use. The dark is a hard temptation to resist."
He looked at her and smile, "You are right though. I should look into more new things to help pass the time, or help to bring myself to a greater understanding. By coming to understand other parts of life, I can come to a greater understanding of the Force and what it is to be a Jedi Knight. I think I forgot that when I got stuck on this planet."
The Corellian stood up and went to Red, putting his arm around her shoulder like only a good friend would, acting incredibly goofy, "How about acting? Or cooking! I can cook a mean nerf-patty! Kalee said that a boot filled with sand tasted better! Oh - the military taught me how to make bombs. Imagine the possibilities for me!"
He grinned, ear from ear, obviously trying to make the mood a better one. Valin knew he would always have his faults - it was trying to improve himself, be better than he use to be like Red said that would make up for them.
Never again would the Dark Side claim him. It was a promise he hoped he could keep.

Valin was fortunate to be an ally of Red's. Any other person would have felt their head try to remove itself from the shoulders from touching her, especially like that. She quickly escaped his embrace and her ears seemed to stand rigidly on her head as her eyes seemed to shout 'what the hell are you doing?' She had clearly not even heard anything he had said, being much more base now than she was a moment ago. Nontheless, she still understood her place and knew where respect was due. She composed herself and bowed to Kendo.
"I've been practicing at least. My absence has likely left my plot of land undistrubed I'm sure." Back to business it sounded. Everything was always so official with her. She saw the situation as no loss though. She had a handfull of skilled allies. Better than an army of incompetent idiots.
"Yourself? I'm sure I wasn't the only focus of your life here. What has been becoem of you these past few months?" Her eyes were still darting over to Valin as though he might dare try to pounce her any moment. It was about all he could do not to show any signs of putting up any defenses.

Valin Lobel chuckled lightly, "No one ever appreciates the Jedi demolition expert!" He sat on the ground and seemed to pout about this, "I can make bombs and throw them out you."
After all, Valin had learned from one of the best demolitions experts in the New Republic: Kell Tainer, member of the Wraith Squadron intelligence squad.
And boy oh boy, did they love to watch things explode.

((My entrance is based at you all being at the arena… so I hope you are >.>; ))
The base of the pillar in the rooms center opened up and a relatively unknown black-haired fighter stepped out. The chain fusing his wrists sent light metal-on metal sounds throughout the room with each step as he walked into the room. He looked around for a moment, trying to figure out where the quiet talking was coming from, then his eyebrow perked as his eyes were drawn to the hallway that connected the Main room to the Arena.
“Hmmm…” Cain wasn’t sure if he recognized any of the voices, but as he walked through the hallway he became pretty sure that he didn’t. His chain shifted as he walked and his shifty cloak changed as it waved around behind him. He acted like he couldn’t even feel the cloak, and had obviously gotten used to the chain by now. As he finally turned the corner into the Arena, he paused in threshold and looked at the others present and was sorely surprised by the congregation in the arena when he’d expected to walk in mid-fight or something.
“Hello… everyone.”

[ That's technically true, but I'd find it being impolite towards Tama if I were to roleplay without the fight ending yet.

Smiling he bowed his head once again his ears twitching atop the snowy locks that framed his face, unbound and flowing across his shoulders. His robes swayed lightly against an unseen wind. Crossing his arms over his chest he nodded.
"I am pleased to hear this. I'm sure I'll be impressed with your progress. I must admit I have been considerably lax since our last encounter. Neglecting my own training are the signs of a weak mind"
Stepping out of the creeping mass he made his way toward the others tilting his head at the reaction Red seemed to be giving the Jedi. A light tenseness seemed to be laying thick in the air, beyond the obvious.
"How about you....uuuh Valin was it?"
Taking a seat atop the arena chairs his tail seemed to sway lightly beneath him as if waiting for something.
