Eventually Rummy seemed to come back around from his bout of sea sickness, making his way back to his feet while his ears and tail raised back up a bit. He was still a bit green in the face, though it had faded some and would hopefully completely disappear in a few. Once Sebastian was certain the Leafeon was alright he got to his feet and took a look around. As far as he knew, he hadn’t received a text back from Jay but it was probably safe to assume the man was somewhere around; though doing what? He wasn’t sure. His best bet would be to head into town; maybe check the pokemon center? The hotel? That might be a better idea given that was where he’d last seen the cowboy.
"Hm…," Sebastian dug out his PokeGear just to make sure, tucking the egg and it’s incubator under his arm as he did to make room. Once he was assured there were no messages waiting he put it away and ushered Rummy along, shifting the egg to between his arms. "Come on Rummy, let’s go find Jay okay? Stay close." The Leafeon gave a soft chirp in response, head shaking before he trotted after Sebastian.
Moving into town from the docks, Sebastian made his way for the hotel. He’d check there first and then the pokemon center. And if those two failed well uhm… he wasn’t really sure. Hopefully it wouldn’t fail. Fortunately, it didn’t take long before he caught a glimpse of the cowboy and his pokemon. He smiled, instinctively raising a hand to wave the man down, realizing only a split second later what he was about to do and dropping it back."Hey Jay!" Sebastian called instead, quickening his pace to catch up with the fellow. He closed the distance, taking a moment to catch his breath as he smiled, glancing at Tod and Mimey as well.
"Funny meeting you here stranger." He remarked jokingly, straightening up and adjusting the egg in his arms, though it quickly faded at the expression on Jay’s face. "Something the matter?" In the meantime, Rummy had perked up and immediately went to greet MImey, bouncing excitedly himself at the sight of a familiar face. "Hi Mimey!" He chirped excitedly as he seemed to regain his composure, grinning happily at her. He gave Tod a curious look too, head tilting and gaze squinting as he seemed to try and recall if he recognized him or not.

Jay was still pretty well within his thoughts, so it was probably a good thing Sebastian decided to call out to him. It didn't completely pull the cowboy around, but it made him slow and turn his head, which helped him tune in to the fact that there were footsteps quickly approaching him. He turned slightly to listen closer, noting another set of pitter pattering along with the heavier set, figuring it was likely a trainer and their pokemon-- a Sebs and a Remmy, as one would have it. A bit of a smile crossed his face as Sebastian spoke up again, and this time Jay was listening enough to recognize him. Zoey did too, apparently, as she fluttered a bit on his shoulder and gave a supersonic squeak in greeting.
"Howdy Sebs," he greeted tiredly back, lifting up to adjust his hat as he turned to face the man. He frowned a bit at the question, shifting and rolling his shoulders some. "Dunno... S'Koda. Still ain't sure what's got him so sick, 'n no one seems ta know. So far, thuh only help we've got's ta try'n get 'em to evolve, but... no one seems ta know how t'do that. Not even Koda." Frowning, he ran a hand up his jaw line, but then gave a shake of his head. "S'alright, though... Sure we'll figger it out. How're you doin'? Ya get them errands done?" he asked, dropping his hand back down to his side. He offered a slight smile. "Ya sure were gone a while." Course, that had given Jay time to... well, sleep, for the most part, but luckily it was pretty needed sleep, so it worked out.
Meanwhile, Mimey blinked as Rummy greeted her, putting on a smile, and perking up. "Hi Remmy!" she greeted back. She glanced over as she noticed his gaze to Tod, giving a little wave at her teammate. "I dunno, did you meet Tod before?" she asked. Tod looked over, eying her warily, and clearly acknowledging them, but not offering much in form of greeting. Though, after a rather lengthy pause... "Hi." Well, at least it was something. Mimey turned back to Remmy, lowering her voice a bit in what was clearly a gossipy whisper. "I call him 'Odd Tod'," she informed the Leafeon, "Because he can FLY. Dewott's can't normally do that." She was mostly being playful, of course, but... perhaps it wasn't the best idea to tell Remmy this, of all pokemon.

Sebastian gave a little nod of greeting to all, expression still tentatively concerned as Jay told of his concern. "Ah… I’m sorry." He replied. It was terrible to hear that Koda was sick as well as that there didn’t seem to be any signs of how to cure it. He found the idea of ‘evolving’ out of sickness a little odd but just shook his head. "Poor little guy… that’s no fun." Suppose that was one of the harsh downsides to new pokemon species… hopefully someone had a clue somewhere…
As the cowboy inquired into his own well-being, Sebastian snapped from his thoughts, offering a gentle smile. "I’m alright, thanks for asking." He replied, shifting the egg to one arm so he could rub behind his ear, giving a little chuckle. "And yes I did get those errands done. Thank you." His expression shifted to a sort of apologetic one. "Sorry for rushing off so quickly and not telling you face to face. It was ah… a bit of a family issue." Sebastian wasn’t really sure how else to put the situation. How often did you ditch a person to deliver gravestone making tools? How did you explain something like that? "And yeah, sorry it took a bit longer than expected. I made a few ah… detours I suppose you could say. I managed to pick up a few pokemon as well somehow." And maim some, but there was absolutely no reason to alarm Jay with those tiny facts. That… could stay safely tucked away hopefully never to come to light ever again.
"What about yourself? Besides dealing with Koda being sick that is…," Not that there was anything wrong if that had been the man’s primary focus; Sebastian certainly wouldn’t blame him. Still, it’d been almost two days and it was polite to ask. Maybe he’d found out some more concerning contests in the time.
Rummy grinned from leaf ear to leaf ear, giving his head a serious bob up and down as Tod greeted back. "Hehe Odd Tod! I remember you! I was an Eevee then!" Rummy seemed to finally recall. His gaze went all starry and wide eyed though as Mimey mentioned that the Dewott could fly. "Reeeeaaallllyyyy?!" He practically gasped, immediately sprinting up to the otter in awestruck wonder. "Wooooaaahh! THAT’S AMAZING! How do you do it? Do wings just sprout out of your back? Do you like puff up like a balloon so you can float?!" At that he sucked in air and puffed out his cheeks as though it would make him some kind of balloon, quickly releasing the air and gasping a bit before grinning again. "That’s amazing! I wish I could fly, I’d go all over the place! I’d eat a cloud! I bet it tastes awesome! Have you tried eating a cloud?!" The Leafeon started to chirp excitedly, only quieting a bit as his trainer gave him a nudge with his foot to calm down. Still, his tail was wagging at forty miles a minute as he watched the Dewott expectantly as though he’d have all the answers already.

Jay pulled his hat off, running a hand back through his hair and giving a sort of nod. "Mm, yeah, well... Ain't tno use worryin' 'bout it fer now, ah s'pose..." he remarked. Which was true, though he didn't feel especially comfortable completely dismissing it, either. Koda had been sick for a while now... He was a little worried that if he didn't do something, it might get worse, and become something serious. Or maybe it already was something serious, and he wasn't paying it enough mind.... 'Don't worry, Jay,' Mimey's voice soothed, the little pokemon glancing up at her trainer as she picked up on his thoughts, 'Koda's not getting worse. He'll be alright. We just gotta figure out where to look, but you shouldn't worry too much for now.'
Jay shifted, deciding not to respond much, and instead tried to focus on what Sebastian was saying. A frown crossed his face, though, and his brow furrowed as he listened. "Family issues?" he repeated, "Everythin' alright?" That certainly sounded pretty bad, after all. He shifted a bit, giving a slightly delayed wave to dismiss the apology. "Don' worry 'bout it," he replied, "Stuff happens. 'Sides, it gave me time ta take care've uh few things've mah own. What sorta pokemon'dja get, anyway?" It both was and wasn't surprising Jay had managed to get some more pokemon; he'd been gone quite a while, after all, but at the same time, if it was family issues that took him away from things, how, exactly, was he getting those pokemon?
Shifting a bit at the returned question, Jay placed his hands in his pockets. "Ah, well... we got sum shoppin' don, fer contest items 'n thuh like... S'bout all, though," he admitted. He didn't really care to admit just how much he'd ended up sleeping.... "Speakin' of, ya still int'rested 'n tryin' out some've that? Contests, that is?" he added. Crystal was probably about ready to explode at this point, given how long she'd had to wait....
Meanwhile, after comforting her trainer a bit, Mimey was focusing her own attention on the very hyperactive pokemon before her. Of course, she wasn't really the one getting the attention-- in fact, she was trying very hard to keep in her laughter as Rummy rushed Tod, literally and figuratively, ambushing him with questions. The dewott immediately looked very annoyed, taking a large, almost fly-esque leap back as he was approached, leaning away with a frown. No. No. Rather than answering Rummy's questions, Tod promptly turned, took two steps, and leaped up, a levitating, weightless leap, to fly up to his trainer's waist-- and tap his own pokeball, promptly returning himself.
Mimey had finally lost it and was giggling, but waddled over to give Rummy a pat. "Sorry Rummy," she apologized, "I guess Tod's just not the most sociable dewott out there."

Sebastian watched Jay’s reaction curiously, a small frown evident on his face though he was probably fortunate that the cowboy couldn’t see it. It was fairly evident the man was bothered by this whole Koda situation; poor guy. He half wanted to inquire exactly what was wrong, but didn’t want to add further to the man’s concerns. At least, not at that moment.
He blanked a bit though as Jay shifted to concern over his ‘family issues’, realizing something and giving a little chuckle as he shook his head. "Ah, yes! Everything’s fine, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make it sound like there was trouble." Sebastian certainly hadn’t intended to make it sound like an emergency if he had, though then again… with his father everything always seemed like a ‘slight’ emergency. "My father’s just a bit… eccentric about his work is all. When he gets new tools, he tends to want them ASAP." He remarked, rubbing the back of his ear in thought. "It was serious for him. Me? Not so much." Hopefully that cleared things up.
"Ah, a few. I found this Pichu who was stalking me. Caught a Shellder… and traded a nice fellow a couple of water pokemon; a Squirtle and a Totodile. " Sebastian recounted, lost in thought a moment as he tried to think if he’d missed any. It only occurred when he shifted the egg about in his arms. "Oh! And… I got an egg. So… yeah. Quite a bit of a increase to the team." He’d need to sort his teams out at some point, now that he thought about it.
Sebastian listened thoughtfully as Jay recounted what he’d done in the time he’d been gone, an eyebrow arching a bit. Shopping? He felt that that was just a tad bit underwhelming of an answer. "Really? Just shopping, hm?" He inquired. Well, it did involve the main reason why they’d come here after all, and as Jay mentioned it he perked up a little and nodded. "Oh yeah, absolutely!" Sebastian remarked a bit excitedly. "I’ve been thinking about it on the way back actually. Like how to better use Rummy’s skills and whatnot." He smiled a little to himself. "Though, I might need to do some shopping of my own. Did you find anything good?" He’d almost forgotten there was more to contests than just move appeal. Rummy needed to look spiffy after all though… he was fairly certain he could manage such a feat without too much trouble.
Rummy stared in awe as Tod gave a minor display of his unique ability, staring with wide eyes as he all but hovered up and returned himself to his pokeball. It took a moment for him to realize that his questions hadn’t exactly been answered… well, the cloud ones anyways. It was fairly evident that the Dewott had no wings nor a need to puffer his face to fly. Still, it was a little disappointing that he had disappeared so quickly. The Leafeon’s ears drooped just slightly before perking right back up to grin and Mimey and her apology. "That’s okay! Dues isn’t very social either! I can always ask later, maybe he really wanted to think about it! I know tasting clouds is probably just too hard to talk about!" He remarked, had tilting a bit as he watched the little pink pokemon. He would certainly take the opportunity to ask him some other time if he had the opportunity. "How have you been Mimey?"

Jay lifted his head a bit at Sebastian's positive tone as he reassured him, and a smile crossed his face, the cowboy giving a nod as he tugged his hat back down. "Well, glad ta hear it," he replied. He paused, tilting his head to the side a bit as he placed his hands in his pockets, looking thoughtful. "What sorta tools d'jer dad need, anyway?" he inquired. Now that he thought about it, he really had no idea what Sebastian's family did. Or who they were, or where they were. And 'tools' was a rather ambiguous term. Was his father a vet, too? Or perhaps a mason? A mechanic? A little funny if he built machines but had to have his son go and get tools to delivery for him...
Jay's brow furrowed a bit as he listened to Sebastian's list, quirking an eyebrow. "... Sounds like yer becomin' a bit've uh water trainer, there," he remarked, finally giving a smile with a bit of amusement, "Ya got 'bout half a team there." He rolled his shoulders back some, tilting his head down and listening, turning it to better listen towards Sebastian as Zoey gave out a few more squeaks. He could sort of tell there was something obstructing Sebastian some, that the guy was holding it... sort of. He might not have even noticed if the man hadn't mentioned something. Lifting his head back up, he addressed him again. "How'dja get thuh egg?" he asked, "'N d'ya know what sort it is?" He had to admit, he was rather curious. He didn't have much experience with eggs-- he wasn't running on 0, but it was really more his sister and father's sort of thing-- but he knew sometimes you could identify what pokemon it was, and sometimes you couldn't. It would certainly be more helpful if Sebastian knew, though more exciting, perhaps, if he didn't.
Jay gave a wry sort of smile to Sebastian's response to what he'd been up to. "Well, ah'll admit ah've been takin' it sorta easy, but shoppin' also took longer'n ya'd think," he added. He gave a nod. "Mostly 'cause, yeah, we did find some stuff. Guess they gotta stay stocked with thuh contest hall here'n all..." He paused a moment, then gave an undirected gesture. "Ya wanna go check out the shops? 'R the hall itself? Maybe we could look inta startin' in uh contest, 'r at least seein' when one'll start." Not to be pushy, but... he could practically feel Crystal raging at him, and she wasn't even out of her pokeball.
Mimey smiled a bit. D'aw, Rummy really was such a cheery fellow. Did anything ever keep him down for long? Though, his reasoning wasn't all too sound... neither was his pokemon reading skills. "I'm sure that's what it was!" But hey! Why not feed the delusion? Besides, Tod really needed to get out more. The guy was developing a serious brooding, anti-social addiction! She placed her little hands behind her back as their trainers talked and Rummy redirected his attention to her. "I've been fine! Been training, sorta! How about you, Rummy? Have you been practicing for contests and stuff?" she asked. Somehow, she sort of wasn't expecting much, but she had a feeling that, at the very least, the leafeon would enjoy getting to perform once he was allowed to. It was just a matter of making sure he... followed the rules and such.

Sebastian’s smile faded just slightly as Jay inquired into his father’s profession. It wasn’t often that people inquired into what he or his family did and for some odd reason, he found himself a little surprised at the question. He honestly had to think a moment before shifting a bit in place. He wasn’t ashamed but… there was a thing about telling people you worked to bury dead pokemon. Especially if they owned some. It took a moment or so for Sebastian to reason that Jay was probably one he could tell the truth too and not have it be awkward. "Stone carving tools." He replied in an affirmative tone. "My father is a memorial mason for our family business. He crafts… rather elegant gravestones for those who request them." Sebastian replied rather matter-of-factly. That was about the right definition and all of what the man did.
Sebastian chuckled a bit at Jay’s comment. "I wouldn’t say that. Seeing as how when I left I didn’t own a single water type." He mused, though his head nodded in agreement. It was quite the collection of pokemon he had picked up in a short amount of time; though the Shellder in retrospect, had only been caught so he could get to Cianwood. Darn those places for not employing boats. He glanced at the egg in his arms, expression souring a bit as Jay asked. "Ah… my father found it and sent it to me to take care of." He remarked, trying to keep the hints of discomfort out of his voice. That was, for the most part, the truth but it reminded him of what the real facts probably were. Shaking his head he perked up, frowning. "No, I don’t to be honest. I’m not really well versed in eggs." This was probably the first one that’d ever been in his care, to be honest, a fact that made him a bit nervous. Could you… raise an egg wrong?
"Really? Then sure, I best get to it then so we can get started." He remarked, turning a bit and slowly starting along the way. He glanced over his shoulder at Jay, considering and nodding again. "Sure, I think it’d be worth checking out the hall. Did Crystal give you any more advice on what we’ll need for the contests and such, by the way?" She was still a primary source of information until someone else showed up. "Do you think it takes a lot of paper work to get registered and whatnot?" He had to wonder to what degree contests were difficult to, compared to just being a trainer. They looked like a lot of work after all…
Rummy grinned and wiggled in excitement. "Really? That’s awesome! I bet you’re all kinds of strong and everything aren’t you?!" When Mimey inquired if he had been doing any practice of his own, he paused face contorting in serious thought before his head bobbed up and down. "Kind of! I got better at firing that ball of light! I didn’t roll or jump or nothing! I think that’s what he wants right? I mean the turtle lady, she moved a lot so shouldn’t I move a lot? I’m not sure I get everything I’m supposed to do…," He remarked, looking briefly uncertain as he thought. He certainly wanted to do well in the contests after all. His grin returned quickly though, tail wagging excitedly. Rummy was certain he’d figure it out when the time came. Pretzel braid would tell him what to do, right? Right!

Well that wasn't a profession you heard every day. 'Memorial Mason'... It took Jay a moment to decode that and realize what it meant, though Sebastian mentioning gravestones made it easier. "Well ain't that somethin'," Jay mused, a rather entertained grin crossing his face, "That mean yer family's in thuh... whassit... Memorial business? Don' recall the righ' term fer it." "Dead people" business was a bit insensitive, even for Jay, and he couldn't recall if there was a more word that wasn't him repeating the very term Sebastian had used. Still, though, the irony was a bit funny...
The grin turned into a bit of a smirk as Seb rebuked his suggestion, and he folded his arms over his chest while tilting his head a bit. "Well, maybe yer jus' now realizin' yer true callin', then. Ya never know, y'know," he remarked, the subdued laughter in his voice making it very clear that he was not at all serious. Indeed, he dropped his arms back to his sides shortly thereafter, brow furrowing a bit when he learned about how the egg was obtained. "Hm, well... hopefully it ain't nothin' dang'rous. Y'know ta keep it warm 'n such? Ah mean ah think that rule applies ta most eggs... 'cept... maybe snow 'uns...." He frowned, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. And since Sebastian didn't know what kind of egg it was... that didn't really help, did it? Hm...
He lifted his head and smiled as Sebastian mentioned getting started. Personally, Jay didn't have much to gain from doing this contest business-- he couldn't exactly enjoy the show or anything-- but he was glad to get to do it for the experience itself. And to get Crystal off his back. And maybe it would allow some of his other pokemon to do it if they were interested, too, which he was always open to. Being the laid back trainer that he was, he didn't mind letting his pokemon pursue their ambitions; after all, they were allowing him to do the same. Well... if you could call what he was doing 'ambitious'.
Turning to walk along with Sebastian, he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think a bit. "Don' think so. Think she's honestly perty much past the point of advice. Think she's ready ta jus' get started 'n such," he admitted, giving a bit of a shrug, "Dunno 'bout the paperwork, but ahm sure they'll help us with that once we get there'n all. Prolly ain't too official unless we wanna take ti seriously. Pers'nally, ah jus' wanna at least try it out, ta see what all ta 'spect 'n all." Of course, if they did have to register and everything, he would go through that, too. Mimey might have to help him, though....
Mimey puffed up in pride at Rummy's praise. "You bet!" she confirmed confidently. She certainly felt shed gotten pretty strong, after all. "I'm not the only one, though! A lot of Jay's pokemon have trained up!" She proudly thumped her chest. "But I think I'm still one of the strongest! AND one of his first!" She moved to follow their trainers as they began listening, but listened to Rummy, taking him seriously enough to ut a thoughtful expression on as they walked. "Hmmm, yeah.... Well, don't worry Rummy! I'm sure that once you participate, and once you see a few of them yourself, you'll start to get the hang of it! You probably just need practice and feedback! I bet Sebastian and his pokemon can help with that! I can too, if you want!" she offered. She wasn't quite willing to volunteer her teammates, but she was sure some of them would be happy to assist as well.

Sebastian was a little surprised at the grin that crossed Jay’s face. Well… that was certainly the last kind of reaction he ever expected to receive; it wasn’t bad just… unexpected. He couldn’t help but tilt his head curiously at the cowboy as he tried to put a name to his family’s business, unable to help the slight smirk that crossed his face in the process. "The funeral business, yes. I think that’s what you mean." At least that’s what he knew it as. He shifted a little, easing up a bit as the conversation eased up. "We work for the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town." Sebastian replied as they went, focusing on their surroundings.
He chuckled again at comment, grinning a little to himself. Well, he had started off with a Squirtle the first time around in his journey. Clearly, something was trying to reconnect him to his past with the new developments. "Suppose you have a point. Good way to keep my hair always washed." He joked back. Sebastian glanced back at the egg in his arms, frowning a little as he nodded. "Well… it’s pink in color. That’s usually not a threatening color." He remarked; not that it really meant much in regards to Jay. But for him, the color meant mostly harmless things. Though… it brought to mind Deuce, who was pink and hardly the least harmless thing on the planet. He was a menace in fact and Sebastian couldn’t help the shiver that ran down his spine. "But yeah, it’s in one of those nifty incubators so… I think there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to warmth." Hopefully. Sebastian took a glance at Jay. "Do you have a lot of experience with pokemon eggs?"
Sebastian nodded and ‘hm’ed to himself at the thought of contests, glancing around a bit. "We should check the hall first then, to see what’s going on. Sound good?" He could shop once he had a bit more a clue what to expect.
Rummy grinned and skipped along beside Mimey at they and their trainers started to walk. "Wow! That’s awesome! You look like you’d be the strongest! That’s how it is on the picture box thing!" The smallest and cutest things were always the deadliest. As she reassured him on his potential to actually succeed in contests, the Leafeon perked up and puffed his chest out in excitement. "Yeah! You’re right! I can totally do it! I‘ve learned a lot of things on the picture box! I bet I can do it!" He beamed a grin at Mimey. "Thank you Mimey! You’re awesome! You’ll help me be awesome to right?" He was totally getting pumped for this stuff! It was going to be great! -

Jay lifted his head, and a hand, as Sebastian found the word. "Funeral, tha's right," he mused. He lowered his hand to his hip as he listened, quirking an eyebrow. "Lavender, huh? Y'all must have ta deal with uh lotta ghosts, then..." he remarked thoughtfully. Honestly, given Koda's... mission, he was surprised there weren't more flurries there. But then again, maybe it was just too far out of their climate. How inconvenient that a pokemon that was intended to clear up spirit problems wasn't really able to venture into some of the most spirit populated places...
Jay chuckled a little as Sebastian 'conceded' to his point. "Yew have uh mighty practical perspective on it," he remarked, "But ah s'pose that's certainly true. Ain't likely ta get dehydrated 'r nothin', neither." He blinked, frowned, and furrowed his brow a bit when Sebastian tried to describe the egg. That didn't work for more than a few reasons. And if he was being honest, the comment rubbed him the wrong way. He knew Sebastian didn't mean anything by it... but 'pink' meant less than nothing, and if it had been anyone else, it might have felt like a bit of a back handed comment or something. Shifting and rolling his shoulders, he decided to pass on commenting, instead just nodding absently as he carried on about incubators. Trying to shake it all off, Jay lifted his head at the question, but gave a slight shake. "Nah, not really," he admitted, "Mah sister might know somethin', but mah only 'sperience is what ah've heard from her." Which was actually quite a bit, but it wasn't like he necessarily remembered much of it...
Placing his hands in his pockets, he gave a sort of bow of his head in agreement to Sebastian's suggestion. "Sounds good. If'n we do have ta register, might take me a bit, so ya can always do some shoppin've yer own then. Hopefully they jus' have some sorta... practice ring're somethin'... It would be nice if they could 'compete' without any of the actual pressure of competing. Thought he wasn't sure whether Crystal would really stand for that....
Mimey beamed, but then blinked, tilting her head curiously. "Whaddaya mean?" she inquired curiously, "Like in your picture boxes'?" She wasn' treally familiar with the term... or whatever he might be referencing within it. As he seemed to regain GREAT confidence in himself, Mimey smiled, giving a reassuring, supportive nod. Of course, as praise rained upon her again, that big grin returned, and she gave another, more confident nod. "Sure! I can certainly try!" she promised.

Sebastian gave a light nod of his head in response to the question, thinking about home for a moment as they spoke. "Mhm. We really do, among other things." He remarked, sounding thoughtful in his response. Shaking his head, he smirked a little and chuckled.
"Well, it’s best to have some level of practicality right? Though I’m not sure I’d want to drink water produced from a water pokemon…," Frowning a bit at the thought, he had to wonder exactly where the water came from and was it safe to drink. They used that stuff for attacks and such after all... Sebastian quirked an eyebrow at the expression he received from Jay as he described the egg, a bit of a frown of his own appearing as he noted the look. He didn’t quite see the reason for it and was a bit puzzled. What was wrong? He shook it off though, curiously listening as he explained his experience with eggs. Well, that was interesting. "Hm… well that’s pretty neat. Having your sister know that kind of stuff."
He kept moving along, arriving at the contest hall and stepping inside as the doors opened automatically. "It’s fine, I don’t mind really. It’d be a good time to check around a bit to get an idea of what goes on." Sebastian replied, head craning around a bit as he took in the sight of the contest hall. It was much bigger on the inside than he had originally thought. Impressive and bright too; almost like it was the scene of a stage, which was fitting for the situation. Looking around a moment, he spotted what looked to be a receptionist desk, starting to make his way over there glancing back briefly to see if Jay was still following as he did.
Rummy grinned, still skipping along after their trainers as he looked at Mimey. "The picture boxes! That show the movies and stuff! They’re awesome, I use to watch them all the time when I was back in Geosenge Town! They’re great!" He knew them as picture boxes; whatever name Deuce had told him was rather difficult for him to remember. The Leafeon became distracted though as the entered the hall, his eyes growing wide in awe at the change of scenery. "Whhoooaaaaaa this place is AMAZING!" He practically squealed, jumping in excitement.

Jay nodded, noting Sebastian's tone. "Y'know ah been ta Lavender before," he remarked, "S'been uh while, though. Much changed there?" Kanto had honestly been one of his favorites when traveling around the regions with his family. He remembered certain areas of it better than he did quite a bit of some of the regions he had visited more recently, and generally with fonder memories. Probably because he was so much younger at the time, but... still.
"Mm, ah s'pose..." he admitted. A smirkish smile crossed his face shortly after, though. "... You ain't one've them sorts that thinks water pokemon's water's all jus' their spit'r somethin', are ya?" He'd heard that theory. He sort of understood the logic of it, given what he'd heard of some of the attacks, but still... It seemed unlikely. He always assumed they got it from the air, or... 'pokemon magic', or something. Some of them produced more water than their entire body mass, or volume, after all. Still, though, mystery water from mystery sources was probably a smart thing to avoid. Giving a bit of a shrug and a side nod, Jay continued walking. "S'pose so. Least, it'll certainly help if ah ever find 'n egg 'r... somethin'," he admitted. He wasn't sure it came in much use otherwise, but it didn't hurt to have extra information, or resources to extra information, at the very least.
Jay nodded a bit, though he didn't respond to Sebastian's comment. He was already thinking over just... how all this might go. After all, he was a blind trainer competing in a contest; it was a strange set of circumstances no matter how you looked at it, regardless of whether you were aware of his echolocation. It wasn't like that sort of thing helped a whole lot in these spectacles. He couldn't keep up that well with things that were moving fast, so the best he could get would maybe be the... gist of the performance, or the general size of a feat, maybe. Regardless, though, Crystal was the one who would be in charge of everything, so he would just let her handle it.
Walking in, he listened as Zoey squeaked out a few supersonic sounds to give him an idea of the place. Spacey... He thought he heard a few machines whirring off to the side-- maybe those were poffin makers? Or pokeblock... whatever they were. Or maybe they were just people blow drying their pokemon's fur... Making his way towards the counter, he kept his head a little bowed, though lifted it as he placed his hands on the counter. "Hello!" the attendant greeted, giving them both a smile, "How may I help you?""Yeah, uh... We were thinkin' of joinin' one've thuh contests here, but, uh... we don' really know much 'bout how they work'r nothin'," he admitted. The woman raised her eyebrows at first-- but then squinted a bit, apparently catching sight of his eyes. She seemed to try and get a better look, but then caught herself, straightening up.
"Well! You are more than welcome to participate in any of our contests, however, I would recommend you start at the Beginner or Basic level. Both are much lower pressure, and generally for people starting out. The Beginner's level occasionally attracts slightly more experienced competitors, but often they're using pokemon that are still adjusting to the system, so it's still usually fairly easy. If you just want to practice, however, and aren't too concerned with prizes, you may compete in the Basic level. You'll still get a ribbon, of course, but it doesn't yield the same prizes as some of the other levels," she explained. Jay furrowed his brow a bit, then turned his head towards Sebastian. "Whaddaya think? Sounds like Basic might be better, but... Crys migh' prefer Beginner's, 'specially if it has more prizes...." he admitted.

"You have? Really?" Sebastian smiled a little at the thought of Jay in Lavender Town. "Did you ever visit the Pokemon Tower?" It was probably an odd question really; considering what the Pokemon Tower stood for. Of course, there were always those few who weren’t visiting for their own personal reasons, but to simply pay their respects for those pokemon who had passed on. It was… an odd kind of tourist destination. But one all the same. "But no… not much has changed. It still very much the same little hazy town." He was starting to feel a little homesick.
Sebastian shook it off, grinning a little as he quirked an eyebrow. "Well… you never know." He remarked with a shrug. "It kind of seems like spit. I mean, fire pokemon make their own… fire. Water types probably do the same… it just happens to kind of come off like spit." Sebastian had never really considered it much to be honest. Pokémon were wondrous and equally crazy creatures. It was kind of funny to think about.
He paused in front of the desk as they arrived, smiling politely in greeting as Jay took the stage and spoke about what they were there for. Sebastian maintained a curious expression as he listened, doing his best to overlook the woman’s curiosity as she tried to get a better look at Jay. He couldn’t quite blame her; it was probably a bit of an oddity all things considered. Still, he focused in on her words as she spoke, head tilting curiously as he considered the options. "I’m… not sure. I feel like Basic would be better." He shifted a bit uncomfortably, glancing down at Rummy as he spoke. The thought of going up even a slightly more experienced individual was a bit concerning, especially since neither he nor Rummy really knew what they were supposed to be doing. He wanted to practice, but then again, he certainly didn’t want to hold Jay –or Crystal, judging by the cowboy’s tone- back from starting where they best fitted. A moment or so more of though and he gave a little shrug. "Crystal is the one who’s certain so… why not let her decide? If they’re both about the same on entry level… I guess either would be okay." Either way, he was just looking forward to figuring out contests.

Jay tilted his head to the side a bit and shrugged. "Not pers'nally, nah. Mah sister'n ah waited outside while mah parents went in. 'Parently they wanted ta pay their respects. Mah dad's idear, ah think, but..." he replied, shrugging a bit, "We were passin' by nearby, s'pose mah mom didn' mind thuh slight diversion." Looking contemplative, Jay shifted, and after a slightly delayed moment, nodded to Sebastian's remark. "S'pose ahm not surprised... Though also sorta am. Y'ad think they'd update the funeral home erry now 'n then.... S'pose they have good upkeep, though, huh?" His sister said the tower seemed old even when they were there, but that could have just been the atmosphere. Even blind, there was a strange feeling around it. It could have been the town, of course.... or the ghosts.
Jay shrugged a little. "S'pose so, but don' most've their attacks involve more water'n could even be in their body? Like... surf fer example. 'N maybe hydro pump, I ain't sure. Then ya got moves like Blizzard 'n such. They store that ice in their body? If they can go 'n manifest cold ta freeze it, then why not water?" Of course, Jay was grinning as he said all of this. "Ah don' think tryin' ta apply our biology really works with 'em. Don' get me wrong... ah prolly wouldn' wanna drink water't came outta mah pok'mon's mouth, but... I ain't gonna assume it's their saliva, neither. If only ta avoid gettin' grossed out if ah were splashed durin' uh battle." Because as rough and tough as Jay could be, he really didn't like the idea of getting spit on.
Jay turned his head a bit, listening towards Sebastian as the man seemed to contemplate the choice presented to them before replying. He lifted his head some at the response, nodding, thinking it over himself. "Mm, yeah... prolly uh good idear," he admitted, reaching for his pokeball. "If it's any consolation," the assistant spoke up, turning to her computer, "we don't have many people signed up for the Beginner or Basic levels right now, so it may be just the two of you. Do you know what sort of contest you'll be entering? The type, that is." Jay blinked, lifting his head a bit. "Ah, er... Beauty, ah think. We can jus' do Basic, though. Crys'll prolly be happy with a Ribbon either way," he remarked, turning his head slightly towards Sebastian for some confirmation.
Mimey had been a bit mesmerized as she entered, looking around with wide eyes. It was enough to distract her from telling Rummy she was pretty sure he was talking about 'TVs', but she giggled a bit at his excitement, pulling herself out of her own daze. "It is, isn't it?" she chimed, waddling around a bit, "It really does look like somewhere performances would take place!"

Sebastian listened thoughtfully as Jay mentioned his family simply visiting to pay respects. It made sense; that happened quite often and was nice to hear as well. Some people didn’t seem to give much thought to the Tower until the time came, which was always sad to some degree. He shrugged at the comment about updating the place from time to time. "The town does what it can to keep it maintained. But Lavender isn’t exactly very big so… you make due." Was his final remark concerning the subject. The tower, for how old it was, was fairly well maintained. At least, in his view. It was probably for the best that it was reserved for the town’s people to handle, who knew what some big cooperation might do to the place…
The man couldn’t help but smirk a bit as Jay tried to apply some logic to the whole ‘was it spit or something else’ conversation. There was certainly something to it making it worth thinking about but then again he wasn’t quite sure what to think. "Maybe… they’re magical spit glands then? I’m not very smart on the ways of pokemon anatomy," which considering what he did, was probably a good sign, "but it could very well be some sort of… I don’t know hyper-drive level spit making." He replied jokingly, thinking a little more on the subject. Jay had good points; he actually momentarily wondered if these were questions professors and researchers asked as well and tried to figure out. It’d be worth knowing their input if they had. He just grinned though, swiping a strand of hair away and chuckling. "I think that’s fair. Though, if they find out that it’s closer to our biology than we think, I’ll be disappointed in my lack of powers." Because really, there was nothing more interesting than having your own powers, right?
Listening to the assistant a moment Sebastian couldn’t help but looked surprised. There were few beginners? That was certainly surprising to him for some reason. He’d imagine there’d be far more. When Jay confirmed that Basic would do, he smiled and nodded, looking back to the assistant again. "Alright then Basic it is." He replied. Hesitating he nodded again in agreement at the contest type. "Yeah, Beauty sounds right." He remarked, glancing down at Rummy. Hopefully… that would work.
Rummy was in awe over everything and the sights and the sounds and the brightness. He’d scurried around to stop and stare and everything in the process, nearly ramming into tables and machines and whatnot in his excitement. He eventually made his way, practically prancing, over to the trainers and Mimey, the largest of grins on his face as he did. "I’m so excited! I can’t wait! THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING! I’ma be like the action stars!" His eyes were practically gleaming in excitement. Sure, he didn’t know what he was doing but HE WAS EXCITED NONETHELESS.
