A tiny blue ball flew through the air, going completely against gravity until the force caught up with the tiny object. Only a moment later, it popped up back up into the air before dropping yet again. This cycle continued endlessly. Its owner tossed the tiny ball casually, his mind blank. For almost an hour, he laid silently on his bed while playing with the toy. It was only once the ball escaped him that he moved from his comfortable position. From the second after he adjusted himself, he regretted moving. His mind had been contently blank, his conscience silent. But once he'd given it an escape from the monotony, the 'what if's began plaguing his mind.
What if Kimo wasn't really out to help him? What if he really was like all the other adults? What if he'd leave when things got messy? He'd disappeared once for a month, so what would stop him from doing it again? Maybe this time, it'd be for good. He could handle being alone. That wasn't the problem. He trusted Kimo -maybe a bit too much. They'd only known each other for a little while, and already he looked up to the man so much. Anyway, he'd probably be better off without a little pyro running around and bothering him.
What if he was one of those bad guys that his parents complained about all of the time? He'd already worried them so much with his little fireworks show. And what if that guy hadn't really been out to get him, but honestly wanted to help? Then he'd just blown up a possible ally's car for no apparent reason. As fun as it had been, what kind of guy actually condones blasting someone's ride to the high heavens? Come to think of it, Kimo had been completely for the idea. He might have helped more if not for the crutches. What if... The Water Evo he trusted so much was actually a bad guy?
No, no, NO. He refused to believe that. Biting his lip, he began to get angry. At himself, at all the normal people who didn't understand. It was their fault, not his, not Kimo's. They were outcasts because they were special. Because they could do things other people couldn't. Everyone else was just jealous, aggravated by the fact that they were disgustingly normal, even mediocre. It wasn't fair. His frustration boiling now, he set the ball aflame and chucked it at a wall. A round singe mark was left on the wall. Whatever. He'd fix it later. If he felt like it.
Those doubts, those weird thoughts, they were just his crazy parents' influence that was making him think that way. They were too paranoid, and already, it was rubbing off on him. All the more reason to get out of this place as soon as possible. Maybe, as much as he hated it, off the island all together. He'd get to travel, get to see the world, have fun. But he'd do it himself. Sooner or later, he'd have to leave Kimo, too. Kimo already had a life of his own. Although they were close, he couldn't stay with the man forever. They'd have to go their separate ways sooner or later. When that time came, he'd find his own way.
For now, he decided to stay with Kimo. He seemed to be the only man on the entire island who actually wanted to help. No, more than that, he seemed to be the only man on the entire island who could help. They were already so close to one another. He got up off of the bed and wandered over to the ball, picking it up as if nothing had happened. Maybe it was true what they said. Maybe opposites really did attract.

Daniel returned to his room and collapsed on his bed immediately. He was exhausted, and for good reason. It was obvious that he had overexerted himself during his fight with that kid. Fireballs were his best attack, but had he really needed to use them that much? "Uh..." He moaned softly, annoyed by the fact that once again, he hadn't used his brain in the fight. It was just that the sight of that kid, so seemingly content with his life... It was enough to make him eager to see him again. Just so that he could have the pleasure of destroying the kid himself.
It was late when he'd left, and he'd come back early. Now he could only hope at this point that his parents hadn't, for whatever reason, looked into his room during the early morning. He had locked the door behind him. They wouldn't wake him up unless he slept until the afternoon. Maybe he when he woke up, he'd go to Kimo's house to report on how the mission had turned out. It hadn't gone particularly well... But at least he'd managed to teach that kid a lesson. And when they fought next time, he'd be able to do it again.
But what had been the point of that endeavor? From what he could tell, if anything came of their attack, it had probably only been benefitting the other side. He had personally fought well, but from what he'd caught glimpses of, many of the others hadn't accomplished much other than their own humiliation. One of them hadn't even seemed to be serious about it -hell, he'd played around the entire time.
He'd managed to catch a few more people, too. ...At least, he thought so. In the chaos, it was almost impossible to figure out who was on which side. There was some guy shooting... Was that a pen? Two people teaming up on one other weird person. He definitely didn't condone that. They should have been strong enough to fight one-on-one. Maybe there had been a few more, but he couldn't remember. Out of the corners of his eyes, he couldn't even figure out if half of the people were girls or boys. Not to mention half of them had been shadows in the darkness.
Daniel's eyes flew to the door as someone tried to open it from the other side. When the person gave up, he sighed with relief. It looked like he'd made it just in time. Turning over, he actually decided to get some rest before the sun came up. Maybe when he went to see Kimo tomorrow he'd have time to be excied about the success.
