My ReasonsWell I guess I chose to do the spirit of the mirror because I'm always found mirrors to be rather complex object I guess. Not in the sense that they, you know, reflect light and everything, but in the sense that mirrors have such an influence on a lot of thoughts and such that I come up with. I would have to say Disney is the culprit. I’ve always been a fan of the Evil Queen’s all knowing mirror that only told truths. The idea of a sort of...being trapped inside a mirror always intrigues me. In a way that was also how Lysander came about, to a degree his story is not about who the mirror serves, but about the man who is trapped in the mirror. Then of course there is the ever famous 'looking glass' from Lewis Carroll’s 'Behind the looking glass' another check point of inspiration, which brings up the ultimate question of whether or not there is a parallel universe on the other side of the mirror. Often mirrors are used to hide or create illusions, such as a mirror may hide the passage to an entire new worldlet- such as in the movie "Van Helsing" where a mirror was in fact the secret location to Draculas lair. Or in an episode of "charmed" it turned out there really was an opposite negative version of the charmed ones world on the other side. In magic shows mirrors are used to create and illusion of dead ends or to make things appear vanished. Or when placed in a garden or bedroom it can give the entire room an illusion of being spacious. Mirrors can also be used in many artistic ways to create attractive or appealing visions to the eyes. such as mosaics, disco balls or my favourite, to give the appearance of infinity. Seriously, have you ever gone directly up to a mirror and stared into your own eye? In it you see yourself being reflected in your own iris looking at yourself, looking at your self, looking at yourself , looking at yourself and etc it's like the drawing of a hand drawing a hand, drawing a hand, drawing a hand and so on. Some thing I love to do is hold a mirror in front of a mirror. It certainly makes you think, or at least it makes me think and often such thoughts start me thinking of other thing until I just go "wow, all this started because of a mirror" Anyway This is why I chose a mirror as my spirit, It may seem confusing and like absolute nonsense but I wanted to put this here anyway just to keep myself inspired.

FormationMirrors have been around for thousands of years, one of the first mirrors discovered was in the first century A.D, however this was just a sheet of highly polished silver, bronze or tin. It wasn’t until the 16th century in Venice that a technique was created of backing a plate of flat glass with a thin sheet of reflecting metal. Usually an combination of tin and mercury was the metal used. The chemical process of coating a glass surface with metallic silver was discovered by Justus von Liebig in 1835, which led the way for new modern techniques. Now a days mirrors are made by spraying a thin layer of molten aluminium or silver onto the back of a plate of glass in a vacuum. In mirrors used in telescopes and other optical instruments, the aluminium is evaporated onto the front surface of the glass rather than on the back, to reduce reflections from the glass itself. However the mirror I’m about to tell you about is one that dates back to the years before the founding of that first century mirror. This mirror was created by a witch who lived by the side of a lake just a few miles from the closest town. Her appearance was neither evil nor kind, so people had little fear of her. The Witch had the ability to cure or give anything to anyone who wished it from her. However, there was always a price to be payed for this. Living in the village not too far away from the Witch’s home, lived a young girl. The girl had a beauty that no other woman in the entire village could match, and often while she was out, women would send her filthy looks of murderous rage her way, simply out of jealousy. For it was not only the women who acted strangely when the girl went out but also the men. Time and time again eccentric and dumb founded men who were besotted by her loveliness would call, howl or whistle in her direction for what she thought was no reason at all. You see even tho the girl was more dazzling than any other woman, she had no idea what she looked like and why men seemed so attracted to her. The girl had just come back from a walk to get herself a piece of silk to drape over her windows and as usual she had been hooted and whistled at the entire way. She collapsed on her bed, tired from the walk, when she over heard the voice’s of two women walking past her home gossiping about her. “…and what’s worse is she acts like she doesn’t even realise how beautiful she is. I mean if I looked like her I’d at least admit how attractive I looked, and I certainly wouldn’t go around flaunting myself to every single or married man the way she does,” The girl was angered at first by what was been said about her and contemplated giving the women a piece of her mind. However it also made her think. Could it honestly be that it was simply her appearance that made everyone behave so differently around her? The girl began her search looking for some sort of object so she could see exactly what she looked. The first place she thought to look was at the black smith, but he only had lead in stock at the time, next she visited a cutlery stall to look into the silver wear for sale, but all they had were wood implements. The girl spent the next twenty-four hours looking for something that she could see herself in with out distorting her image. when nothing could be found the girl sat down on a tree stump and thought of her other options. At this moment the wind seemed to change directions, it pulled at her hair and clothes as if dragging her one way. But what was in that direction? Taking this as a sign the girl let the wind be her guide, following its breeze in what ever direction. At last she realised where the wind was leading her, as she stood at the top of a valley she looked down to see a vast and clear lake spread over the land, and next to it sat a small house which she easily recognised as the Witch’s. Knowing at last what the wind had been expecting of her, she skipped the last steps to the Witch’s door. The Witch greeted the Girl with a smile and asked what the pretty dame desired. She laughed at the simplicity of the Girls request and replied that payment would not be necessary as the task was so simple. The Witch took the Girl’s hand and led her to the side of the lake which was smooth and clear as glass. The Witch pointed to the water's surface and as the girl leaned over to look into the flat liquid she squealed in delight to see herself for the first time. The Witch smiled and led herself back into her home to let the girl look at her self more privately. In the evening the Witch went back to the girl, who was still obsessing with her own reflection, and suggested she leave. The Girl suddenly began to weep and sob, saddened to be parted with the gorgeous face in the water, even if it was her own. She begged the Witch to find a way she might take it with her. Not wanting to see the girl cry any longer, for it was rather pathetic and annoying to her ears, the Witch agreed. But the price would be her normal life; for the next twenty years she would live with the Witch and do her bidding. The task was easy to complete, but it would be the time span that could really get to a person. The Girl readily agreed, sure she could do the task with ease and went inside the witch’s home to let the Witch start her work. Once the Girl was inside, the Witch tore off a piece of her own garment and filled it with water from the lake, she wrapped up the water so none of it could leak out and let it sit on a rock for ten days. Every day the Girl would pester the Witch asking why it was taking so long. The Witch would always reply that she was waiting for the water to harden. On the Tenth day, the witch sent the girl back to her town to get her the largest and biggest mallet she could find along with one of her own possessions. Once the Witch had the Mallet in her hands, she brought it down onto the water with all her might. The water which had been sitting in the sun for ten days inside a piece of fabric surprisingly made a very loud sound like that of glass being shattered into a thousand pieces. The witch reeled back and struck the water once more. On the twelfth time, the cotton fabric ripped and inside there was no longer water, but a thin sheet of reflective material that light bounced off of and sparkled blindingly. This was the creation of Lysander’s mirror. This story is meant to be written an old type of folk story way, as if it might be a story passed down a line of villagers with the moral that beauty isn't everything tacked onto the end. I have a second part typed up where the girld served out her full twenty years before getting the mirror, but once she obtained it her face had aged and the girl threw the mirror onto the floor and into a million pieces and ran off. This also relates to Lysander's constant wish to be liked as he was so horribly thrown away by the very person he was created for.

Mia Bishop Mia Bishop Assumed Name: Mia Bishop Name: Mia’s birth name can not be pronounced by, nor written, using human linguistics or alphabet. It uses advanced lip movements which have yet to be even thought of by our generation, and is also spoken on a frequency which human ears can not register. In terms we can understand, her name means Sanctuary, and to hear her name spoken natively brings about a feeling of being saved. All words from Mia’s world are like this and are also unable to be spoken by humans. Age- In human years, Mia is far beyond a measurable age. But at home, she would be considered in her late twenties. So that’s the age she gives when asked. Sort of Like how dog years work. One year in her home is equal to X amount of human years. D.O.B- September twentieth Zodiac- Virgo Height- 160cm Residence- Due to pre-arranged circumstances, Mia currently dwells in a medium sized loft on the plane of Gaia. Family- Mia has one mother, father and Twin sister. Mia’s father and sister visit on occasion , but her mother is only permitted over on Mia’s request. Marital status- Single. Likes-- Teaching - Things which strike her as abnormal - Familiarity - Taking pride in her possessions Dislike- - Enforced guidelines - Making mistakes - Large Changes - Things she can’t control Historic information- Mia is one half to a set of identical twins. The pair were born parents Silvia and William Bishop* in a place known to those who live in it as ‘the Place were Fate begins and Ends’.** Both Mia and her sister Isil* followed in their parent’s career paths, wishing to become Contractors of Fate.*** The two enrolled with a mentor and started learning when they came of age. This was when the problems started. It became apparent that while the two were equally gifted, they were excelling in different ways. Isil applied herself more than Mia, and through this, was able to achieve a steady progression upwards. Mia however, didn’t dedicate herself quite as much. Instead of keeping a steady pace in all requirements, she allowed herself to become more and more advanced in particular segments at the expense of her other duties. It was suggested Mia should go to a different teacher to develop the skills she had neglected. Of course, Mia didn’t see it in such a kind light. She sae herself as being left behind while her sister moved on. From then on, Mia began to see Isil in a different way. Whenever she pictured her sister, Mia imagined Isil as an enemy, someone blocking her from achieving her goals. Mia hated being seen as the ‘lesser’ sister. She wanted equality, but she also wanted to be better. Mia used her sister for a basis, always comparing herself to the ‘better one’. If Isil got an above average achievement in one part of her studies, then Mia wanted an above average achievement in four of her own studies. But her behaviour however, did not go unnoticed. Those in desire of becoming Contractors of Fate, were ruled by a set of protocol. One of the foremost being the one Mia broke. Excelling in order to better ones self was highly accepted and something looked for in pupils. Excelling in pursuit of being better than others, was prohibited, as it was thought such behaviour might result in a contractor who changed fate lines**** for self gain. Mia was forced to stop all her classes immediately and was banned from any career which involved changing fate. However, swayed by the pleas of Mia’s family (including her sister ), it was decided Mia could take on the task of restoring fate lines when they began to split, as there was little that could be done there which would change fate in a large way. Mia was assigned to the realm of Gaia, and offered world currency for every line she mended. That way she would be able to focus on her thread keeping duties, as opposed to having a second job to take up her time. Despite all this, Mia kept up her self indulgent ways, which were only fuelled more when her own mother took Isil as a pupil when she moved up in the ranks. Factually, it was just Isil making a smart decision as their mother was a respected Fate Contractor and it was only natural for Silvia to offer help to her daughter. But Mia mistook the gesture for her own mother taking sides against her and drawing attention to the fact that Isil was better. Since then, Mia has continued her duties on Gaia, distancing herself from the populous and only making contact with the other world to receive her payments. (Which arrives in a small maroon pouch on her middle bookshelf as requested before she left.) Quote: *Names- Assumed names used for linguistic purposes **The Place were Fate begins and Ends- The name basically describes it all. To hear the title spoken natively brings about a feeling of overpowering hope and apocalyptic doom. ***Contractors of Fate- Also known as Fate contractors. This is an occupation in Mia’s home universe. Their job is to deal out fate strands to each beings existence and attach them to objects, people or places that will cause events in people’s lives. They do not decide who receives what, only hand them out. They are of high ranking. ****Fate Lines- Also known as Fate strings, threads, links or strands. They are the lines people follow unknowingly in their life which lead them to certain events. They are set in place by Fate contractors. A Fate line can be broken if the person it is contact with starts to drift, but they are often mended before then. However this is a rare event. For a fate line to have an effect on two objects, two lines must be placed between them. Example- Lisa is linked to Joe because will influence her life in someway. This means there is one line connecting Lisa to Joe. But, if Lisa and Joe fall in love and have kids, Their will be two lines. One connecting Lisa to Joe and vice Versa.

Lysander Name: Lysander - one who is freed Gender: Male spirit: Mirror Reference pictures: [x][x][x][x]Eyes:A Pearlized white that gives off a pearl like shine. Hair: A Nice a straight hair cut that often Lysander leaves down. His hair is an orange-red colour with blaeach blond highlights in some of his strands. His hair is usually drapped over one of his eyes and obscures about two thirds of it from a persons view. However this does not mean he's got an emo type hair style, he just likes it the way it is. Sometimes however his mood might swing a different way so he'll put it into a low pony tail. Body: Body wise Lysander isn't that great, he's kind of slinky actually and rather thin but most standards, however it looks good on him. Lysander’s skin is pale, cold and very very smooth. His skin seem to have little diamonds embedded under his skin, but truthfully they are small bits of mirror actually part of him which catch the light and send it sparking off his skin. Lysander constantly tries to hide it under long garments and the like. He feels ashamed of them because it makes him stand out and appear different. Special Features: As a birth deffect, he seems to have strange breakage looking mark running diagonally across his back spanning from his left shoulder blade to the base of his back, it looks like someone chucked a stone into a piece of glass but the sheet didn't compleatly smash. Dress sence: Lysander preferes long sleeved attire over short sleeves because of his 'skin condition' as he believes' He usues the length to keep his natural sparkling out of the sun. Because Lysander's spirit has been round for some time, he preferes to dress from one of his favourite Eras, one of the few ways he expresses himself- but he's been known to lie about that too. He favours the colour gold because it was the metal of his original mirror frame and tries to tie this colour into most of his outfits because it gives him a feeling of completion. Personality: Lysander personality isn't exactly...all togather. Because Lysander is a mirror, he only knows to copy and mimic others which is exactly what he does when meeting people. Hypothetically if he were to meet someone with a bright and bubble personality, he would swing his mood to better match the other persons regardless of of what his own opinions or feelings are. If Dared to do anything really he would most likley do it just to prove he was just as good the person daring him and not afraid. Part of him does the because it's his natural instict to replicate but the other part of him is too afraid and timid to do anything different. Behind ever changing fascade, Lysander's really quite gentilemen like and observant. His manners are perfect and he's very polite even in his younger stages. However he'll always been a qiet boy/man often enjoying just sitting somewhere with a pleasent landscape to escape into the thoughts of his own mind. He wants to make people smile but has a hard time doing so because he thinks people might find his gestures as pathetic or sad. Copying people for so long and not being able to have his own life seems to have effected him mentally. However just because he enjoys being by himself does not mean he hates to socialise, in fact he likes trying to work out how a person ticks, like a hobby really, but he's just very cautious. He seems to have a love for the arts such as sketching, paintintg and composing some music, tho he won't let anyone look at his work unless he feels they won't critique or judge him based on what he draws. Inspiration often comes from his own thoughts, feelings or concepts. He also enjoys the new feeling of life he somehow attained, and likes to touch things alot and use his new found sences. It helps him to draw in inspiration. However his personality may not come through untill his adolecent or teen stage. Likes: Drawing, writting and doing artistic things, perfecting his arts, the way fog blockes off the top of the street early in the morn and gives the air a brisk and fresh feeling and smell, the scent of rain, books, perfume and deoderant and the feeling of wet grass or mud in his hand or between his toes. Dislikes: People who 'diss' his 1800's outfits, heavy metal, people who get him to do something he doesn't want to. Rocks and hard things, flying things, heights, cricket, baseball-pretty much all sports with fly objects that would usually break a mirror, steam, high pitched notes, strong sound vibrations, heights and television (kills imagination) Abilities:Forme-décalezSince Lysander is the spirit of a mirror, some of his replicating technics will be passed to him in his new life, including the ability to look like some one else. At his will Lysander can turn into any form that he has seen before, ANYTHING! However there are some exceptions. He can not turn into any sort of reflective surface such as a glass table, another mirror or even a shiny christmas bauble. This has to do with his second ability and more information as to why, is further below. He usually uses this talent when he feels like being someone else for a short time to escape his gaurdian or doesn't want to be Lysander because of the trouble it causes him mentally, when switching between emotions so constantly. The ability works on a sight and vision basis, only allowing him the ability to look like another when they are in his eye sight. If a person were standing halfway out into a desert, he can change into them just as if they were standing two feet away, so long as they are recognisable. Forms must also be within hight limitation of his upright figure or a few centimetres taller. If a person taller than himself entered the room, he would be able to reflect them, however he can not turn into a giant mountain or sky scrapper building no matter how far away or close they were. Mice and small animals however, are do-able. As are some insects and inanimate objects with time limits and things which can not be contained. I.e. bubbles, butterflies, running water, Mirror entranceI decided I just couldn't chose a spirit of the mirror with out dragging in the whole 'parallel universe' thing into it xD This is an ability that Lysander probabley won't get untill his later stages, teen most likley or I'll work it into his teen quest o.O Anyway basically, Lysander can turn any mirror into an actul portal into a mirror wordlet, a small plane of space the exist behind all mirrors. This worldlet is populated by being known as 'reflections' However for everyone on our side of the mirror there's an alternate person on the other side, except for Lysander and that's because tecnically he's part 'Reflections himself' But just because everyone has an alternate 'Reflection' does not mean they do everything at the same time or exact opposites. In fact some Reflections are exactly like their real world counter part. Basically one of the only things about the wordlet and the real world that are exactly the same are the place mirrors are put. So hypothertically if 'Bob' put a mirror on his bathroom wall, it would also be seen in the wordlet in the same place. It could be on the door of someones home, on the wall of a stable or just floating in space which in not a rare occerence in the worlet. To gain acces into the wordlet requires alot of Lysander's concentraition and relies alot on his own spiritual aptitude. I mean, can you open a rift to an alternate world from a simple object? This is just basic information About the 'Mirror worldlet' There's alot more and it will be placed in a post below. SPOILERS Spoilers! ( Or at least some directions of how I would wish thing to go)
Lysander is discovered by Mia during one of her regular trips about Gaia, mending fate lines.
Mia comes across the child, curios that it is not crying even though it is in the rain alone, wrapped only in white strips. As she approaches, he mimics all her actions, copying her. Not wanting to leave a baby alone, she decides to follow his fate line back to his parents, or parent. Much to her surprise though, the boy appears to have no fate lines what so ever, not even to Mia, the woman who found him. She has however, gained a fate line linking her to him. Out of curiosity, she takes him home. Naming him in her home language, a word meaning ‘One with no Fate’. To say it would make the speaker feel a sensation of freedom and loss. For while one with no fate is free to do as he pleases without restrictions, there is always uncertainty of what lies ahead. Alongside this, she gave him a name the child could pronounce, still in keeping with her ’theme’ so to speak. Thus she chose Lysander.
However, when Lysander is able to go into his mirror worldlet, he will at one point meet with Mia’s sister who is running a few duties in his worlet. (Yep, fate contractors can get everywhere with a populous.) Unlike when on Gaia, Lysander has more fate lines there than any person Isil has ever seen. This is because Lysander was the first mirror created. His mirror was the first portal into the world and thus he is the world and it’s creator. Which is why everyone in the worldlet has a fate strand to him.

If you dance with the devil...Yay, a banner leading to hostel_en_ funk's IotS Quest has been added to the 'Link' Post. That's Link as in connection, not link as in the guy from Zelda xD Also, I got some critique from Sailor Aerith <333 Sailor Aerith Name: N/A (Sounds fine to me) Gender: N/A Spirit: I think the concept of a mirror sounds really interesting. <3 I'm not really into the IotS shop, but I think I have a grasp of the premise. Ref. Pictures: N/A Eyes: I think this sounds fine, except maybe change pearlized to opalescent? Orrrr, you could change that they're pearly and say that they're reflective. I think that'd be a better way to describe a mirror. <3 Hair: Sounds very bishounen-ish. o: Maybe, though, since mirrors are always changing Lysander would die his hair with every new stage? That's just something I thought of, something you don't have to use at all. xD Body: Hmmm... pasty white. o: That sounds very vampire-ish. It sounds like me might need to eat a bit more. xDDD I like the bit about mirror pieces under his skin, although it sounds a bit grotesque to me. It's just an aesthetic choice, I'm neutral to it. I usually look at personality more than appearance. And after all, he IS a mirror spirit. Special Features: N/A Dress Sense: I like it! Personally, I like the era that he favors as well. The bit about hiding the mirror shards I'll get to later, though. Personality: I think it's good. I mean, there's only so far you can go with mimicing people, and I like that you've made him timid enough that he copies because he wants to be accepted, rather than out of playfulness. Likes: I was fine with everything here.... Except the skinny dipping thing jumped out at me. DD: The skinny dipping part mystifies me, especially since he goes to such great lengths to hide his reflective skin under clothing. Dislikes: N/A Ability 1: I generally like it. Although, maybe provide some emphasis as to why he can't turn into reflective images? It says he doesn't know... But maybe a little more elaboration? Ability 2: Hmmm... This one kind of confused me, to be honest. Clarification is going to be needed if you're set on keeping this one. Personally, I'd do a "mirror warp" sort of thing, as in he can transport from mirror to mirror, but again, that's just me. It seems like you've put a lot of thought into the mirror world, so you're probably attached to it, but you definetely need to elaborate on it. (And if there's more to the world like you said, I'd make another post to put it in detail. Because right now it's very confusing and jumbled, imho.) Generally, I like your idea. <3 It's very creative, and I love it~! You need to elaborate on things a bit, though. I only looked at Lysander himself. (I read it all, but I only gave my opinion on the important part- the character.) ...Make sure you remember the steps Through the Looking Glass - An IotS Quest

If you dance with the devil...
Sailor Aerith Name: N/A (Sounds fine to me) *Thumbs up* mrgreen Spirit: I think the concept of a mirror sounds really interesting. <3 I'm not really into the IotS shop, but I think I have a grasp of the premise. Thanks ^^Eyes: I think this sounds fine, except maybe change pearlized to opalescent? Orrrr, you could change that they're pearly and say that they're reflective. I think that'd be a better way to describe a mirror. <3 Originally his eyes were going to be opal, but because I didn't want him to overlap with 'Enoh Love's concept quest I decided to make them pearly. But I like word 'reflective' as a desicribing word for them....Hair: Sounds very bishounen-ish. o: Maybe, though, since mirrors are always changing Lysander would die his hair with every new stage? That's just something I thought of, something you don't have to use at all. xD lol, sorry but I don't have an idea what 'bishouen' mean really. I've heard the term tossed around alot but don't really undertstand it. As for the hair changing idea, I guess it would be a better idea...but I'm just too attached to his red hair xD It was the fist thing I was compleatly sure about when he was still a sketch in my mindBody: Hmmm... pasty white. o: That sounds very vampire-ish. I chose a pale skin tone because it would reflect light more, and a common known fact about mirrors is that they reflect light. So I wanted his skin to replicate that statement.Dress Sense: I like it! Personally, I like the era that he favors as well. The bit about hiding the mirror shards I'll get to later, though. Yay!! glad you like *1800's style fanatic* xDPersonality: I think it's good. I mean, there's only so far you can go with mimicing people, and I like that you've made him timid enough that he copies because he wants to be accepted, rather than out of playfulness. Thanks once again, I understand what you mean about mimicing people, hence I wrote some stuff about what's underneath his imitating nature.Likes: I was fine with everything here.... Except the skinny dipping thing jumped out at me. DD: The skinny dipping part mystifies me, especially since he goes to such great lengths to hide his reflective skin under clothing. mmhmm, yeah I must admit I agree. I got rid of that part already, it just doesn't fit in.Ability 1: I generally like it. Although, maybe provide some emphasis as to why he can't turn into reflective images? It says he doesn't know... But maybe a little more elaboration? In my mind, I know why, it's just sort of hard to explain and I'm not good at explainging thing like it. The reason sort of relates to his second ability. I'll see if I can find a way to put it into words and add that part later...Ability 2: Hmmm... Because right now it's very confusing and jumbled, imho.) Once agin, the confusion is probabley due to my lake of explaining ability. Erasing this altogather might be alot easier however this ability has alot to do with.... his back story? i'm not sure what word might be apropriate. I'll definatley get around to describing it more in the future ( I Hope shall )Generally, I like your idea. <3 It's very creative, and I love it~! You need to elaborate on things a bit, though. I only looked at Lysander himself. (I read it all, but I only gave my opinion on the important part- the character.) Thanks heaps for the critique Sailor A. It's veyr hard to find people who'll tell you more than just 'Yeah I like it' and I'm glad to have had your keen eye go over it <3 ...Make sure you remember the steps Through the Looking Glass - An IotS Quest
