At first, he’d shrugged at Cynthus’s question. What was considered a theater or not, especially one on the Moon was definitely beyond his understanding. Maybe they’d been in a theater. Was that just somewhere people had an audience? Was that the Code’s room? He seemed to vaguely remember seeing stars above them, but they were on the moon and had just been chased by a youma, so his attention wasn’t that great.
Then, he frowned when Cynthus told him to stop worrying. He didn’t particularly like being told what to do. Sure, he did follow directions and requests when he wanted to. Sometimes when he didn’t want to… but that was even more reason for him to be defiant when he had the chance.
But Yvoire said he was fine, even if he was being standoffish. Was he embarrassed about what happened on Ganymede? Did he feel awkward around him now that their Wonders seemed to be connected in some strange way? He didn’t understand why Yvoire was so much more open when he was alone with him, and why he was so closed off around friends.
Then again, Dering was the same way. Even though he was fun to hang out with and delightful to talk with, being around others seemed to shut him down.
Oh, and the fact that they were surrounded by Chaos probably didn’t help.
Finally, he bristled and shot Cynthus a glare when she suggested pizza.
He liked his friends. And for the moment, they seemed to like him too. But he knew that was probably going to change as soon as they found out he was the same guy who had been mean to them. He hadn’t known. If he had, he would have done things differently. Maybe he wouldn’t have even cared who saw him talking to them.
Rose seemed to know what he was thinking because, to his relief, she spoke up. She took the weight on herself to say she wasn’t ready, although he knew it was more than likely for his sake.
But… Dering suggested going to the Moon. And Mary agreed. Some of the tension in Reims’s shoulders eased, although he continued to frown at the ground. Or maybe at his sword, as though inspecting it for damage.
“I’d like to go to the Moon,” he agreed, still annoyed with Cynthus because she knew he didn’t want to give away his identity yet. One day… but they needed to get rid of this Chaos and go home, first.
