SessrumnirKnight of JupiterMOOD: Extra cautious ACTION: Trying to work out a plan Sessrumnir’s eyebrows raised curiously when told of the Reasoner’s desire to name a virtual creature. Some kind of game, perhaps? The fact that they didn’t get much information from it was concerning.
As well as the fact that the ramp was no longer open for visitors.
“Are we all agreeing to proceed with caution?” he asked when it seemed as though both Logos and Viatrix were ready to dive into… who knew what… without a proper plan in place. Were they agreeing to look for a power source? A shuttle? Were they just doing whatever they wanted without anyone elses’ concerns in mind? The unknown made Sessrumnir’s skin crawl, and he forced himself to not look over his shoulder to see if he could catch a glimpse of those he’d left.
“Let’s just say the ship wants to murder us, or is going to be hostile if it’s not responding. If not, that’s great,” he stared, holding up his free hand to show Viatrix that he didn’t mean any harm in being overly cautious. “But I would really appreciate being able to get back home in one piece.”
And the others too, but he didn’t say that out loud.
“Logos, could you describe any other places you remember within the ship as well? I don’t know if I can fit into some of these holes,” he admitted with a frown.
“Is there anything else you can remember about the ship? Anything that seemed strange or gave you a bad feeling? It’s important. If there’s any kind of alarms or traps to keep out intruders, that would be important to know.” He hoped it wasn’t necessary, but he wasn’t about to just run inside.
“Viatrix, once you’re inside, see if you can figure out another entrance. I know you have high hopes for the ship and these robots, but I would rather you have backup as soon as possible. Just in case.” Although he had doubts about her desire to help keep them alive over rebuilding decaying robots.
“Corporal Vyn,” he continued, glancing over to the Velencian. “You’ve been in the ship as well, but didn’t explore like Logos, but you were in direct contact with the Reasoner, is that correct?” He didn’t want to assume things, but that was what he understood by their descriptions of events.
“What did they end up naming it? The virtual creature? It might be important to know. If the Reasoner treasures it enough to name, we should try to… ah… hype it up, should we need a distraction.”

VynVanguard CorporalMOOD: Hesitant. Uneasy. ACTION: Sharing some information about Mimi and their inorganic hosts. Vyn didn’t understand what anyone continued to find so fascinating about all the battered technology on a world that resembled a ruin mixed with a dump site. He had to remind himself that these were humans. They were less technologically advanced to begin with; anything beyond their world must seem like a marvel to them.
The Mauvian, on the other hand…
Perhaps she’d been on Earth too long.
Or perhaps Vyn was missing something.
All this talk of supposedly friendly robots and potentially murderous ships was fraying Vyn’s already frayed nerves.
“The creature was named Mimi,” he said when Sessrumnir asked. “The Reasoner wanted our suggestions, and that was what it ultimately picked. A Negaverse officer suggested it. It was located in what seemed to be the ship’s command center. There were monitors and cables everywhere, and cameras. Mimi was on one of the displays, but seemed… distorted. It was not advanced technology by Velencian standards.”
He glanced around helplessly. By the expression on his face, it was probably apparent that the same sentiment extended to most of what they’d found here.
“We suspect the ship is ancient, by your standards. The world my people once called home has been lost to us for a millenia, but the Reasoner claimed to have witnessed it and spoke to us in our language. Unfortunately, we were unable to learn more.”
Vyn cleared a nervous lump from his throat. He looked from Viatrix, to Logos, to Sessrumnir, then back to the ship. He glanced over his shoulder in the direction he’d originally come from, searching for any sign of danger among their surroundings.
The ship made him uneasy. The robots did, too.
“One of the robots informed me that they believe this place… Astraya... will allow them to acquire starseeds of their own, that our arrival here was some sort of sign that they’d met whatever qualifications they think had been presented to them. When Mimi appeared, the Reasoner spoke of rebirth, but as they are inorganic and cannot be born or reborn…” Vyn paused to swallow. He did not want to give voice to the thoughts that swirled through his head, lest he bring them into being. “I do not share the fascination so many of you express toward this place or our inorganic hosts. I believe we are in danger here, and that we should proceed with the utmost caution.”
Vyn tried to keep a steady voice, tried to appear confident. He already felt as if so few people took him seriously. He really would rather not add more to the list.
“While Viatrix tries to make her way through the ventilation, there is a breach in the hull we can examine,” he suggested.

LogosDark Mirror SuperMOOD: Determined ACTION: Feeling better now that they're planning The Mauvian turned into a cat, which Logos was not fully aware they could do, and she stared unabashedly. She'd known Mauvians, of course. She's known them as cats, and a few as humans. But she'd assumed that once the human form was acquired, the feline one was discarded. That Viatrix was able to switch between the two was clearly news to Logos. What this ability specific to this Mauvian? Was this a glamour or was it a true shifting? Too many questions rattled around Logos' mind. So many that she had to physically shake them out. Vyn speaking about starseeds made Logos involuntarily press her fingertips to her sternum. They want... starseeds? From Astraya? Did this place have a collection of starseeds somewhere? Like in a vault or something? That didn't seem right. Starseeds were souls, as best Logos could understand. To have them just... lying aorund. Did they belong to someone else? Or were they new seeds? Could a new seed be made? And if not, what were the ethics of giving someone a soul that belonged to someone else? Sessrumnir spoke again, pulling Logos from her spiral. It was becoming increasingly clear that he was the ranking officer on site. Logos glanced around once, checking her senses for any chaos aura around her, and then fell happily into line. It was comforting to have someone with more authority to defer to, even if that person was not actively pulling rank. She slipped into attention, her hands behind her back, her shoulders down and away from her ears, and her back straight. "Sir. Caution is essential, Sir" she finally reassured Sessrumnir in her usual, clipped, and formal tone. "I, too, would like to go home whole." She had classes approaching which she was excited about, and was in no mood to miss, even for death. "Inside it's as ramshackle as it is outside. There were cables spider webbing the inside, drawing power from somewhere and taking it to other places I assume. The Reasoner kept the majority of the ship barred from us by shutting it's doors, but some didn't shut all the way. There are also cameras on board. Everywhere, it seems. But when The Reasoner is unresponsive, it is unclear if they are still operational. Respectfully, sir, I suggest avoiding them all together whenever possible, and I would like to reserve the option to disable them when necessary."

Viatrix Order Mauvian, Bonded to Encke
MOOD: Suddenly worried for her senshi and knights ACTION: Messaging the othersWhy was the dark mirror looking at her like that? Had she never seen a Mauvian? Sure, she had no interest in being a cat again when she could have all the advantages of both, but it had its uses... Her gaze flicked back to Sessrumnir. She felt like he was trying to boss her around a little bit and she bit back a hiss. She shifted as she reminded herself that this was a new partnership and they all had at least adjacent goals, even if she wasn't totally sure they did-- "I was going to be cautious, don't worry." She held up a paw in return to him holding up a hand--alright, fine, he wasn't trying to boss her around. Of course she was going to be cautious. She wanted these mechanical wonders to like her... "I'll work on a door once I can establish it's safe to be in there--" It was Vyn's words that took her by surprise. She noted Mimi, in case she was asked by the Reasoner, but it was something else that had her attention in short order. Starseeds? That's what their trial was about? She supposed it made sense that they would want to be like them. It wasn't fair or right that these wonders should be locked from their cycle of rebirth just because their origins were inorganic. Why couldn't Cosmos just give them starseeds too? But how did their arrival relate to the robots gaining-- Oh. Oh no. There was no way, right? What would give them that ability? What had taught them this? Was the desperation justified in the same way that HAL murdering those humans could be-- She palmed out her device and tapped out a message as her fur stood on end. "Alright, noted. Hopefully they're not gonna try any," she glanced toward Logos. Right. Probably shouldn't disparage the Negaverse here. Wasn't going to get her anywhere when the Dark Mirror was the one who had to take her to the vents. Maybe there was something else anyway. Maybe Cosmos would show up. That'd be nice. "Well. Maybe it's nothing bad." That was a self-reassurance. As she hid her device again, she confidently projected, "Cats are good at avoiding cameras, but thanks for the warning so I can look out for them. Are you ready to show me where to go?"

SessrumnirKnight of JupiterMOOD: Cautious but determined. ACTION: Giving Logos some supplies if she wants them, and heading to the breach with Vyn. Sessrumnir felt the hair on the back of his neck rise when Vyn told them about the robots thinking they will acquire their own starseeds. How? Even Lyndin needed a special gauntlet from the Negaverse to take a starseed from Caedus. There were Negaverse officers there, but not many.
He felt uneasy, and he must have had the same idea as Viatrix, but she managed to get an alert out faster than he would have had to write a message to send. That was fine, because he held up his signet ring to his mouth to speak a brief message and send it as well.
So the robots were interested in their cyber creature named Mimi, and favored the Negaverse it seemed. It didn’t bode well for them.
“At ease,” he said gently to Logos, unsure if he was amused or horrified by the formality. Not that he was using formal military commands, as he didn’t know if she was familiar with them or not. But hopefully she understood his intention for her to relax. And breathe.
As much as he would rather not associate himself with anything Chaos, any little help was useful.
He took a moment to open his subspace and pulled out some needle nose pliers with built in wire cutters, and a pair of insulated gloves.
“In case you need to cut through anything. Sorry these are kinda big,” he frowned as he held out the pliers and gloves for her to take if she wanted to use them. “I expect them back in good shape, so no getting electrocuted or anything like that. If you want to try and disable some cameras… or whatever else you find… that will probably be useful.”
Sessrumnir knew it was very likely that Logos had her own tools with her if she was volunteering to help hotwire an escape pod, but the point was that he was trusting her to stay safe. And to hopefully keep the questionable Mauvian safe as well.
He nodded to Logos and Viatrix as they started to figure out how to get to the ventilation and maybe disconnect some surveillance, and then turned to the Velencian.
Sessrumnir took a moment to really look at him. He was certain this was one of the ones who had abandoned Caedus and went with Lyndin instead. While he didn’t agree with Caedus’s decision, he was cautious about the Velencians and their alliance with the Negaverse.
“Let’s inspect that breach then,” he gestured towards the ship, letting Vyn move forward so they would be walking side by side instead of having someone behind the other.

VynVanguard CorporalMOOD: Nervous. ACTION: Heading to the breach with Sessrumnir. Examining the ship’s hull. Viatrix seemed over-confident. Perhaps she had every reason to be. Vyn didn’t know her history. Regardless, he didn’t understand the behavior. As someone with a significant lack of confidence in himself, seeing it displayed in others had a way of doubling his anxiety.
Was he wrong to be worried? Had he jumped to conclusions? Did they think he lacked intelligence or common sense? Did the rest of the Vanguard? Should he be quiet, keep his mouth shut and let more experienced figures take the lead? There was no one like that among the Vanguard here, and he didn’t trust any version of Chaos or the White Moon. None of them had given him any reason to.
Vyn felt lost, adrift, with nothing to keep him in place or guide him back.
He almost regretted coming here alone. He should have stayed back with Aliez and Andreiya. One of the others could have come in his place. Lysvi had already acquired information relevant to their appearance here. Perhaps Lysvi would have been a better choice to investigate the ship…
Vyn stared after Viatrix and Logos, then glanced up at Sessrumnir as they separated from them. They fell into step together, circling the ship until they came to the area of the hull breach. Vyn was very aware of Sessrumnir’s considering stare. He could guess what the Knight might be thinking. Vyn was having similar thoughts.
Sessrumnir was White Moon. Vyn had not had the chance to memorize every face at the battle for Caedus’ starseed, but he thought Sessrumnir might have been there. Could he trust Sessrumnir? Could Sessrumnir trust him?
Vyn swallowed again, and did his best to focus on the task at hand.
“I don’t know if the breach is passable,” he said. “We certainly don’t have the means to repair it, and I shudder to think how a certain Mauvian might react if we were to do anything to make it worse.”
He meant to demonstrate humor, but it probably fell flat. Vyn approached to give the breach a closer look, sorting through random parts that’d come loose or spilled out. Parts of the ship had been repaired before — that much was obvious from his earlier visit inside — but the hull breach seemed too extensive, beyond the capabilities of the local inorganics.

It's a mess around the hull breach, as expected. Some cables hung from it like blood vessels, snaking out and back in again. One was connected to a machine that had been carefully placed back upright, banged-up but operational. It appeared to serve a diagnostic function, likely put there so its synthetic crew could quickly check in on its status between tasks. While Sessrumnir wouldn't be able to fit through any of the holes in the ship's armor, a Mauvian probably could. The gap the cables led from was promising, leading to a grate barely visible in the darkness. There was also a piece of equipment among the debris that may have served a more complex function in the past, but now was simply a slightly warped mirror.

Viatrix Order Mauvian, Bonded to Encke
MOOD: Excitedly cautious, cautiously excited ACTION: spy mode activated, slipping into the ventsAfter Logos guided her, Viatrix knew what she needed to do. Be cautious, stealthy, and sneaky, just like a black cat waiting from the shadows for the owner to leave their fish alone for longer than a few seconds. Become one with the shades. Become undetectable. Was she speaking from experience? Stromboli might know, but he wasn't here. She couldn't help reflecting that this was probably a good thing, Basiluzzo and Encke might have a whole heart attack if they had to deal with their father being there too, especially if these robots were taking more of the HAL 9000 murder angle-- Proceeding forward, she looked around for a vent that she might have been able to fit into to start her journey into the ship itself. Get in, avoid cameras, make sure she was either unnoticed or at least welcome--hopefully that one, honestly--and then let the others in. Right. Aha! She contained her glee, but just barely, considering she had set up a purr and was already shaking a little bit in that excitement. Spy mode -- if this wasn't possibly terrifying, she'd be having a blast! As it was, she was kind of hoping that she wouldn't offend the Reasoner by what she was doing-- Viatrix tapped her paw against the grate, then pulled at it, hard. She'd slip through once she heard a satisfying pop.

SessrumnirKnight of JupiterMOOD: Exasperated ACTION: Calling Logos over. Hoping Vyn knows what to do with computers. “It’s not that bad,” Sessrumnir frowned as he looked at the breach around the hull. And then cast a look to his temporary companion and crossed his arms over his chest. “Not sea worthy -- or space worthy… but maybe if… no. No I would probably suggest to scrap it. Best they get any functioning computers and whatnot out and repurposed,” he shrugged.
The other two had already gone off. Maybe once Logos finished showing where Viatrix could get to the bathroom, she could come and check out this weird mirror-like debris. He didn’t know if it was going to be of any use. He’d heard about mirrorwalking from Valhalla, but beyond that he had no idea how it worked.
“Logos!” he called, although he tried not to be too loud about it. “There might be something here. I don’t know how it’s supposed to work with your… magic,” he said, not even sure if she heard him.
As for Vyn, he had no idea what to do with a computer. He wasn’t that kind of engineer.
“Anything you can think of doing with this?” he asked, since he couldn’t exactly get into the hole.

VynVanguard CorporalMOOD: Frustrated. ACTION: Kicking the machine hooked up outside the breach, then determining its functions in an attempt to study any readings it may provide, or potentially hack it. Vyn considered the machine. He considered it for a long time. (Okay, maybe half a minute.) Then he looked at Sessrumnir and shrugged.
“A generator, perhaps,” he said. “Or some sort of… diagnostic apparatus. The technology here does not meet Velencian standards. I’ve been trained on more sophisticated tech. This is beneath my expertise.”
Not that his expertise held up against some of the other Vanguardians. Again, Vyn wondered if it might have been better to send one of his companions. His skill set veered more toward combat. Regardless, neither of them would be getting in through the breach. They would have to wait for Viatrix, or Logos, if what Sessrumnir noticed panned out.
Vyn felt useless. He was frustrated with himself, and this place. He desperately wanted to be home, or back on Earth. He thought he might be falling apart, splitting at the seams, leaking emotions in an unseemly way. He was Velencian. He was a member of the Vanguard. He should have more self-respect.
He kicked the machine. Once. Twice. Gently, because he did not wish to break it, but… he was pent up and out of sorts and he very much wished some part of this would be easy for once.
When he was done, Vyn took a breath and let it out on a heavy sigh.
“I’ll see what I can make of it.”
Thus, he studied the machine, but without any clue as to how it was operated, he didn’t expect he’d make much headway. Did it keep track of the ship’s functions? Was there a way to hack into the ship through it? He fiddled about, busying himself as best he could.

LogosDark Mirror SuperMOOD: Determined ACTION: Feeling better now that they're planning The Mauvian seemed more than fully capable, which Logos wasn't surprised by in the lease. She'd never met a Mauvian be anything less then absolutely reliable. It seemed to be a universal character trait at this point. The Mauvian was, however, very small. And no amount of capability or intelligence could make up for the size difference if something larger decided to take Viatrix as a threat. This was the reason Logos watched with such intensity as Viatrix made her way in. Her name being called, however, dragged her attention away. She reached Sessrumnir's side and peered within, searching for what he was referencing. A mirror, she supposed, since her magic was called into question. And a mirror it was, she realized with something as close to glee as she was able to feel. She allowed herself a triumphant smile for a just a second before she recovered herself. Her instinct to stand at attention pulled her shoulder back again until she remembered that Sessrumnir had called for her to rest. "I think I can use that, sir," she answered firmly, deciding that if he already knew about mirrorwalking at all, anything else she told him probably wouldn't be usable. "If there is an accessible mirror within the craft, I'll use that, otherwise I'll double back. It shouldn't take me longer than five minutes, so if I'm not back by then, please assume I was successful." She gave him a short, polite nod, and made her way through the reflective surface.

VIATRIXThe satisfying pop was granted, though the Mauvian would earn some rust on her paws for her efforts. It was, of course, quite dark inside, leaving her with no choice but to pad along carefully until she spotted an opening. One appeared after a few minutes. There was very little one could make out through the grate, but it quickly became apparent that this room was not the bathroom. It remained curiously lit regardless. There was some comfy furniture just barely visible on the edge: a small paisley-patterned chaise lounge, far too small for a humanoid to use. Overall, the room looked uncomfortably small for anyone who wasn't cat-sized. LOGOSLogos would step through the makeshift mirror to find herself in the same bathroom she had been in earlier. The door was open this time, with a camera not far from the doorway. Thankfully, the mirror above the sink was situation out of the camera's view. SESSRUMNIR AND VYNIt was of foreign design to them both, but the interface started to make some sense after staring at it for a few moments. There were symbols for various systems that were common enough in the spacefaring world that an educated guess on what each one stood for would be fairly reliable. Eventually, Vyn could piece together that this was a mass-produced diagnostic tool for spacefarers back in the Silver Millennium, similar to how such tools were produced for cars and other vehicles on Earth. It was the kind of thing most Velencians knew how to use. In addition, it meant the interface could be switched to English so they could both read it. Now the screen clearly labeled the usual things and their status. The life support was at 3% capacity. The engine was in critical condition. The auxiliary power generator was online, and the peripheral energy cells still had plenty of power to give. The weapons system was offline. A blinking warning on the bottom right corner of the screen was alerting the users that the prison cell doors were open.

Viatrix Order Mauvian, Bonded to Encke
MOOD: Fascinated anew ACTION: trying to get into the Mauvian Room. Trying to find a button or something first, (but if not, is willing to try forcing it again)It was dark. She wasn't that surprised. It was a very small space, she felt like she was in one of the spy movies that she had seen Encke watch, and it wasn't like this place was lined with spotlights or anything like that. It did make her wish, though, that she had dark vision out to sixty feet or something-- Viatrix pawed forward quietly, carefully, not wanting to trigger any offense -- Oh. Another grate! She pressed her nose up to the grate, peering in to the room on the other side that was dimly lit, but at least still better lit than this little tunnel she was in, and found herself surprised to find that this looked like a little Mauvian room. It was the chaise lounge that tagged her into that as far as she was concerned. She knew quite a bit of her temporarily cat-bodied fellows did like their comfort. And unless this was a room hidden through a grades that was made for like... Squirrels... She wasn't sure what else this room could possibly be. That brought in another question though: why did this room even exist in the belly of an apparent sentient ship? Surely the Reasoner wouldn't be offended if she checked out a room that clearly belonged to her and her fellows right? Ostensibly?? Probably??? Viatrix sucked in a breath, determined that she was going to need the wash the hell out of her claws later, and ran her paw along the edges of the new grate to see if she could find a button. After all, if a Mauvian didn't need to work, why would she? And if this room was created by someone like her, they had probably also made a mechanical way to get in here. They had a paisley chaise lounge. Who kept a paisley chaise lounge that had any interest in working? cibarium assuming that since Viatrix is alone now, I should only be tagging you!

VynVanguard CorporalMOOD: Nervous. ACTION: Helping Sessrumnir make sense of the diagnostic console. Suggesting they commandeer what seems to be the only salvageable/useful pieces of the ship (the energy cells) if they can get their hands on them. Vyn ached with tension as he worked. Sessrumnir didn’t hover, but his presence was no less nerve wracking. Perhaps it was due to the Senshi in black treating him with such respect, or something innate to the Knight himself; he gave off an air of authority — not as if he expected to be obeyed, but as if he had the experience to support whatever comments or suggestions he might make. Vyn did not immediately dislike him, he simply could not relax in his presence until he knew for certain whether or not the battle for Caedus’ starseed remained a point of contention for this Knight as it seemed to for many of his allies.
Seeing as their current circumstances didn’t exactly promote conversation on the topic, the tension was sure to linger.
Fortunately, the diagnostic machine gave them a suitable task to focus on in the meantime.
“Life support is minimal,” Vyn explained. He could switch the interface, but with technology this old, he didn’t know if it presented a version of English the Knight could understand. Vyn used the assistance of his ComTech in an effort to discern what he could not make out on his own. “I suppose that wouldn’t be a priority for inorganic life. Fortunately for us, this world has a breathable atmosphere. Weapons are offline. I would be more concerned about the prison cell doors if there was any evidence of organic life.”
Their existence nonetheless sent a shiver up his spine. Vyn was certain there must have been a reason for them at some point in time — either for hostile adversaries or insubordinate crew. Humans were familiar enough with prisons, so he didn’t bother Sessrumnir with further discussion on their use.
“I doubt the engine would be salvageable in this state, but the power generator contains energy cells that might be of use. If we can get inside…”
Vyn paused to gaze at the ship, then glanced at Sessrumnir out of the corner of his eye. The Knight didn’t seem as protective of this technology as the Mauvian had.

SessrumnirKnight of JupiterMOOD: Hopeful. ACTION: Knocking on the mirror to call back Logos. Agreeing to figure out how to get inside and use what they can get access to. He was a bit rusty with his ye old English probably from a thousand years or more ago, so he was grateful for Vyn translating for him.
Was this how Devyn felt when he arrived on Earth? Not being able to understand how to read or write? But he’d taken studying so seriously and based on the messages he received back from him, he was getting better and better with practice.
“My moral compass prioritizes getting everyone home,” he said thoughtfully. He had people he cared about there, and while they could possibly bully Almadel into taking them them home (although Sessrumnir wasn’t sure how he got there), he didn’t want to leave everyone else to suffer on a desolate world.
Maybe the Negaverse… But with how friendly others were with them, he had to assume they’d never had a loved one murdered by them.
“Logos, you still around? We have a plan,” Sessrumnir lifted a hand to gently knock on the mirror. He had no idea how it worked, if Logos could hear them or see them or what, but they weren’t getting anywhere just standing around.
“Depending on where Logos was able to access, we might have to split up. You’ve been in there,” he said as if to remind himself. “What do you think? Could you use that crystal of yours to find out the current of energy going through the wires? If we can locate the energy cells, we might be able to do something with those.”
He could tell that Vyn was nervous around him. He knew there was still tension with a lot of people regarding the Hilltop battle, but right now they didn’t have the luxury to have any heart to heart about it.
