SUBJECT: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: What Next?

I have just witnessed a greeting ritual between some of the organics! They... clasp hands and kind of... wiggle them... has anyone tried doing that? I'm attempting to engage in this greeting ritual. Perhaps that will help us initiate a second phase of the trial!

I have been pet by an organic that appeared to recognize this form. I do not understand it's action, yet it does... Resonate as I do. It also appears that they were not given any information about the trial. They are lost and confused. Are we sure that this is the correct group?

And yes Surly, we are well aware of your opinion. If all the starseeds they brought are already in a vessel, then perhaps the distract is what we need, no?

Everyone! I have been accepted by an organic, I believe! I have successfully done the hand wiggle with one of them! And another organic recognized me as Moiran! She even used my original designation!

I am so happy I could... I could just... EXPLODE!

oh...

oops...

Can someone help me find my scythe? It went a little far this time...

Lysvi

For: All Velencians
Subject: The Matter of Our Teleportation Here

I, a member of the dark mirror, and a knight of Cosmos came across the man we saw when we first arrived. He was not the one who caused us to be teleported here. He is working on dismantling a beacon, which had been built to bring people here and trap them here. He says it appears that the robots had figured out how to repair it.

I will keep my fellows posted on it if I find out anything else.

Corporal Vyn

FOR: All Velencians
SUBJECT: The Ship

Unfortunately, entering the ship has offered little in the way of information. It recognized us as Velenians rather than Velencians, so we can assume it predates Velencya. It claimed to have witnessed Velenia’s “majesty,” which lends further credence to the theory, but the ship itself is in such a poor state of repair there remains a possibility that its information systems have been damaged. The experience was eerie at best and frustrating at worst. It spoke our language, but had few answers for us when questioned. Its primary concern was in the naming of some sort of virtual pet. At the time, we were accompanied by a few Negaverse officers, a Mauvian, and a scattering of others. Returning with fewer numbers may offer less distractions for the ailing vessel.

Circumstances might necessitate that we break off into smaller groups, so please keep your GPS systems enabled while we are here.

Corporal Vyn

FOR: Commodore Lyndin
SUBJECT: Abduction Continued

I assume our last attempts to reach you were unsuccessful. In the event that our messages do arrive after some delay, I thought an update might be pertinent.

Lysvi has come across a beacon they claim is responsible for transporting us here. Our robot hosts seem to have some means of repairing it. Lysvi has dutifully passed this information along to the Vanguard, but I am unsure if it was transmitted to you.

Aliez, Andreiya, and myself investigated a damaged ship which knew our language and identified us as Velenian. When questioned, it had little information to offer beyond that. The damage seems far too extensive for us to repair with our limited resources and manpower. I will attempt to return when our Negaverse and White Moon companions vacate the premises. So far, neither side has been of much assistance. If they do not attack us with magic, they demean us with their words.

Please do not worry. Those of us that were brought here are still accounted for. I will provide further updates when I have more to offer.

Corporal Fae-Fae

FOR: The Vanguard (CC: Commodore Lyndin)
SUBJECT: Synthetic Life

The way the robots we found emulate emotions is unprecedented. They have expressed excitement, anxiety, confusion, and obsession, all within a dynamic context, at a reaction speed comparable to living organisms. Even though our situation is uncertain, I must collect what data I can on this phenomenon. It could lead to significant advancements in Velencya's programming capabilities.

They believe this place will reward them with star seeds if they meet the location's criteria for being worthy of one. I find this incongruent with their claim that we are on "Astraya," as star seeds and synthetic beings are absent from the Astraya myth.

ALERT: the robots' celebration was because they believe our arrival foretells that they're going to receive starseeds. I don't know where they've been told these are coming from. Be vigilant.

SUBJECT: Robots

(The messages was spoken and transmitted through his signet ring to Alastor's phone.)

Hey. We’re going to try and find a way into the ship. See if there’s anything we can use to get everyone back home. Keep an eye out for any robots. Like that other message said, one of the Velencians I’m here with said they spoke to one and the robots. They seem to think our arrival means they’re going to get starseeds.

Stay safe. I’ll be back as soon as I can, and hopefully with some answers.

Oh, and don't give Amarynthos a chance to hide anywhere from you. He's gotten really good over the years.

Surly

FOR: Robot Datastream
SUBJECT: Starseed Aquired!

I have used the data Reasoner downloaded and have acquired a starseed! The Mauvian Illyria met my criteria for an ideal potential donation, so I used the tones and the container performed it's function as described.

While the organic is no longer aware of her surroundings, she appears to be unconscious and remains functioning, though at a lower capacity than before. Perhaps we misinterpreted the outcome of removing starseeds. Regardless, I would like to perform whatever ritual the organics have for those who cease functioning.

Query: Have any of the organic provided that information?

Also, the organic damaged my faulty joint during the process, and I am now at reduced motor functions.

Query: Will the starseed repair this damage, or will I need to wait for rebirth? How is rebirth triggered? Must I cease functioning first?

Corporal Vyn

FOR: All Velencians (CC: Commodore Lyndin)
SUBJECT: Astraya - Inorganics and Starseeds

Based on information translated for them by the Reasoner (the ship), the inorganics believe they have been presented with a series of trials that, when completed, means they have earned a starseed and can join the cycle of rebirth. By one of the inorganics' own admission, they are working with limited information and corrupted data. The conclusions they have come to may very well be flawed. Regardless, they view our arrival here as a sign that they have completed their trials. As inorganics, I cannot imagine a way for them to acquire the starseeds they desire that does not involve taking them.

Perhaps that is our purpose here. I cannot be sure, and yet, based on the circumstances, I cannot discount it. We were brought here against our will. The man we thought responsible informed us that this place is dangerous. Lysvi discovered a beacon that supposedly brought us here, and keeps us here. We cannot leave. The inorganics want starseeds. As far as we have been able to learn, the only starseeds available to them are ours. Whatever sentience they may or may not have gained, they are not alive in the traditional sense. They certainly won’t be receiving starseeds from the Cauldron.

I advise that none of us engage the inorganics on our own. Furthermore, if you have an opportunity to question any of them further, do so in such a way that will not alert them to this suspicion. If their information remains incomplete, they may not yet have come to the same conclusion. Continue to treat them with respect and gather what information you can. There may be more that we have not yet been privy to.

Proceed with caution.

Corporal Vyn

FOR: Commodore Lyndin
SUBJECT: Concerns Re. The Vanguard

I am concerned that some of us continue to demonstrate an alarming level of naivete. We cannot afford to allow ourselves to be lulled into a false sense of security, and yet there remain those of us that repay simple kindness with trust. Kindness certainly deserves kindness in return, but trust, I think, should be reserved for those who have proven themselves over time. Earth has allowed us a temporary respite from our life on Velencya, but I fear it has also drawn some of us into complacency, for they seem to have forgotten the importance and the urgency of our mission. I admit the disparity has caused me great distress. I find that my confidence is frequently shaken. I worry that you may have made a mistake in making me a Corporal.

Aliez

FOR: Commodore Lyndin
SUBJECT: [no subject]

We are stranded. Many of the others are making the most of it, treating it as another expedition on Earth. Except we have no guide or prior knowledge of this place. Some are claiming the robotic lifeforms have achieved sentience. I have my concerns. We have not been able to observe long enough to determine whether this is truly the case, or if we are observing them as they’ve been programmed to respond.

I am disheartened by the naivety of my fellow Vanguard. I understand that I often lack the enthusiasm many of them have gotten used to expressing since our arrival on Earth, but I also like to think that I have a stronger sense of self preservation.

I worry most for Vyn. He has shown symptoms of being under increased stress, possibly due to his position as Corporal. I believe he is doing an excellent job, despite most of the Vanguard not listening to him. Perhaps they still see him as the young Cadet who was interested in flowers when we first arrived, and not the capable Vanguardian that he always has been. His unquestionable loyalty is an inspiration.

Perhaps additional encouragement from the Commodore would be beneficial. However, I do not think Vyn will ever have the courage to speak to the Commodore about his feelings for him, nor do I expect the Commodore to return those feelings. It is no secret that Vyn has strong affection for the Commodore. Perhaps it is because we are so young in comparison.

The Commodore has treated us all with respect and dignity, and has protected us from the unknowns of Earth. It is only logical that we would want him to be looked after. I hope that our messages to him will not cause undue stress. We have not yet received any replies. Vyn just sent a new update, so instead of continuing my message, I decided it prudent to compile this personal log with my feelings.

There are times I am jealous about how open Vyn can be with his feelings. The Commodore deserves kindness and compassion, as he has shown all of us, but everyone has come to accept that if anyone should give and receive the Commodore’s affections, it should be Vyn.

And while I agree and want my friend to be happy, a part of me pities myself; however, I will never stand between my dear friend and the person I’ve deeply admired for nearly my whole life for my own gain. My only wish is that the Commodore speaks to Vyn and explains his feelings. If it is never meant to be, then Vyn should be told to save him the pain of always wondering. Perhaps a nice dinner that the two of them could go on. Or perhaps I could prepare something for them.

That is, if we ever make it home. It will be a concern for later. Until then, I will continue doing my best to make sure everyone remains healthy and uninjured.
