The trip to Yael with his brother had been a long one though one they had both been looking forward to. It was someplace new and exciting and presented them both with opportunities that weren't otherwise available at home. Lynx got to see the beasts the large island had to offer and Zohra got to see the different ways of life. It also meant it gave room for Zohra to try out new things.
One such thing being his magic. While he could do it at home it was easier to work where there werent so many people. At home he had an abundance of siblings and family members to worry about. Mostly his cousin, Sio, who seemed to be constantly nearby. Not that he complained. The two were close in age and both liked the solitude the beach gave.
However, here he didn't need to look over his shoulder and ensure she was far enough away. Lynx left him alone enough that they each did their own thing. Of course his older brother did check up on him regularly. A threat from their mother having made sure that neither came back injured or less than when they left. So no missing limbs and a subtle threat to Lynx to not get any more scars.
A deep breath in helped Zohra to slowly block out the sounds around him, though there really wasn't much. The perks of being in the woods. All he had was the sounds of nature. Once he could focus enough on his own actions he lifted both hands in front of him slowly and concentrated on his palms. He wanted to be able to feel the magic tingle over his skin. Zohraduri wanted to be able to have better control over the fire he could summon. It was the element he wanted to work with the most. Normally one would have a mentor, he knew that, but since he was going to travel around he would end up jumping from mentor to mentor anyways and bits and pieces of training would slip through the cracks. So for now he was self reliant until he could get back home and find someone to help him work out the finer details of his skills.
As he stood there and focused he felt the tell tale signs of his magic. The familiar tingle made him smile. Within another second light poured out of his hands as fire gained life. As he stared at it he knew that this was what he wanted to do. He wanted to be able to summon the elements to aid in whatever he needed. Not really out of selfishness but more so he could help others.
A smile ghosted his lips as he watched the flame dance. Zohra knew this was what he was meant to do and while it was different from his other siblings he didn't think he'd face any kind of discrimination from them. Even his parents wouldn't shame him for his choice. Having a strong family support was amazing.
With the small exercise done he closed his palms and the flame went away easily. Zohra was sure that his control over the element in small doses was getting stronger.
