It had all gone so very wrong.
All she'd wanted to do was go swimming. Of course she'd talked her cousin into coming with her since her brother had been busy in the kitchen and she didn't wanna bother him. Talked being a figure of speech since Sio didn't talk much. Still.
They'd been having a good time until the group of kids had come to join them. Zohra had been diving down to look for clams and pearls while she was sitting on the bolder enjoying the sun. The taunts had been almost instantaneous and she'd done her best to ignore them. That was until she'd been shoved off the rock and into the water without warning. Her cousin had surfaced at about the same time and saw it all happen.

Zohra 1
He'd run out of air and surfaced. So far he only say a few clams and picked up three before going back up. When his head broke the surface he shook his head and turned to grin at Sio. What he saw was his little cousin being pushed off the bolder without warning. While he didn't worry about her ability to swim he was worried about the fact that she made a painful face before hitting the water.
"Sio!" The clams in his hand were forgotten and he started swimming toward her quickly.
"Hahah! Did you see her flail!?" The laughter from the other kids could be heard.
Zohra was really over them and their bullying. He understood why they thought she wasn't related to him. They all thought that his mom and dad were her mom and dad and the fact that her skin was so different from the rest of them made it seem like she wasn't a real member of their family.

The fall down had caused her to get a scrape on her hip and when she was in the water she took a minute to figure which way was up. But once she broke the surface she started to cough. Some of the sea water had gone up her nose. Bringing her hands up to wipe her face clean she looked toward her cousin and frowned, the salty water causing her injury to burn.
Quickly she did her best to sign to Zohra that she was alright. She didn't want him to worry too much.

Zohra 2
Seeing Siofra surface brought a huge relief to him. Of course she would tell him that she was fine without even caring that she'd hurt herself on the way down. Zohra huffed a little before reaching over and patting her head. "Yeah, alright."
The taunts from the kids continued. He could hear them on the beach. But the brat on the bolder decided to open his big mouth and say the exact wrong thing. "Ha! Guess your mother got tired of your dad and found someone with stronger genes to sleep with huh?"
At that Zohraduri snapped his head around and glared at the kid. "You better shut up before I help you with that."

She paled at the comment the boy made but her head also snapped toward him. No one talked about her aunt like that! Especially since it was her fault they were doing so! The mute girl reached out and put a hand on Zohra's shoulder. She didn't want him to get out of the water and doing something he'd regret. Her free hand started to sign enough though he wasn't paying attention. She still had to try to get him to calm down some.

When he felt his cousin's hand on his shoulder he turned to look at her, catching her other hand mid-sign. What had she been trying to tell him? But then something caught his attention. A tendril of red in the water. Which was strange since she wasn't wearing red.
Zohra looked down and saw that she was bleeding. The scrape to her hip was bad enough to show blood. "Sio." He reached up to stop her hand from moving. "Sio, you're bleeding. Get out of the water." He tugged her toward the shore.

She blinked at Zohra then looked down even as he started to pull her toward the shore. She saw the little bit of blood in the water then winced. Oh, that didn't look good. That could explain the sting she felt.
Lifting her gaze to her cousin she made a small face. She didn't want to show her aunt, or worse, her brother. Surely there was a way they could patch it up and not have to worry about it, right?
"Awe, did the b*****d girl get a cut?" The boy called from the bolder before laughing and holding his belly as he did so.

He frowned at Siofra. The fact that she hadn't really realized she was hurt was one thing but the look she gave him after was another. If it was bleeding that much then they'd have to tell his mother. Who would likely tell her mother.
He opened his mouth to tell her as much but was cut off by the words of the other boy. He was really getting tired of that. "You really want some help in shutting up that mouth of yours don't you?" They'd reached the shallows and were walking up to the shore now. He directed Sio away from the other kids and over to a spot he could have her sit down at.

She looked up at the boy who was still taunting her then over at her cousin. Siofra could only take so much of that. When they picked on her and said she didn't belong it was fine, she could handle that, but to say her aunt had cheated on her uncle? Nope. Little Sio didn't like that too much.
She tapped Zohra on the shoulder to gain his attention. When he was looking at her she brought her hands up to sign for him. 'Can we teach them a lesson? Please?' Normally she avoided getting into altercations with other kids but that didn't mean she hadn't been taught how to fight if she needed it. Look at who her aunt and mother were!
The boy climbed down from the rock and was smirking at them. "The freak still can't talk. Your mom didn't pick very well the second time around did she?"

He turned his head to look at his cousin. He was fully prepared to tell her not to worry and that he wasn't gonna do anything too bad. But when he saw the words she signed to him he just grinned at her. "Sure can little Sio. Sure can. I get the punk that pushed you though. He said something he shouldn't have." He gently patted her on the back before he moved away from her and toward the boy that seemed to still be running his mouth.
"You know, when Sio agrees to teach you a lesson it's probably time to shut the hell up." Zohra brought both hands up and cracked the knuckles on his right. Without warning he closed the distance between then and drew back to give a sucker punch to the boy's jaw. When the punch landed and he knocked the boy off balance he had to cringe a little and shake his hand out. "Bad form Zo, pay attention to where you hit." He told himself.

A snort left Siofra as she watched her older cousin hit the boy then reprimand himself for not using proper form. She knew Thea would likely have done the same thing. So would Lynx and Iexa. Probably Zasha too.
Then she turned her attention to the others. They had been laughing along. So while they hadn't pushed her or said the horrible things the other boy did they weren't innocent either. So she covered the small distance over to them and grabbed the first person she came across. Luckily she was bigger than them. Sio took after her mother in that department. So when they tried to yank away from her they didn't get very far.
She set her mouth into a thin line then lifted them up off the ground just a little before tossing them bodily into the others. She watched with self satisfaction as they all fall to the ground in surprise at the action.

He turned to look and see what Sio was doing, since she was against three other kids. She was also already hurt. He saw her lift the one then toss them into the others and snickered. Served them right.
Of course that distraction was paid for when he felt something collide with his side and he was sent into the went sand with a THUD. "Unn!" He grunted at the added weight. The boy had tackled him to the ground.
"You stupid mixed blood! You don't even have a lick of Matorian so why are you in our territory? Take your b*****d sister and leave!"

She heard the thud and the grunt that her cousin gave so she turned to look at what was going on. When she noticed that Zohra and the other boy were on the ground she blinked.
It took longer than it should for it to register that Zohra was being pinned down and punched. Embarrassingly long. Siofra jumped into action after about the fourth punch thrown at her cousin. She ran over, as best as she could with a hurt hip that was dripping blood down her leg and into the sand, and grabbed the boy around the waist to pull him off Zohra. With hum struggling it caused her to fall to the side with him.

Well it hadn't gone as planned but hey! Nothing was perfect! When he felt the weight on him lessen he looked up again and noticed the boy was gone. Zohra had been shielding his face to avoid any real damage so now he blinked. His eyes went to one side then the other. When he saw Sio and the boy on the ground wrestling together he moved to grab the boy.
He didn't want his cousin to get hurt more than she already was. Of course he cringed when he saw the elbow that connected with her mouth. That was gonna leave a mark. Zohra pulled the boy toward him then landed another punch straight to the boy's jaw for a second time. And his form was good with this one!
"Didn't your mother teach you not to hit girls!? My brothers are gonna freak out now!" He landed another punch on the boy's face before he felt a foot placed on his gut and push him back.

The elbow that caught her in the mouth made her lose her grip. Not that it mattered since it seemed like Zohra was able to keep going. She closed her eyes tightly against the pain and brought her hands up to cradle her lip. She could feel the blood as well as taste it. The hip they could have likely hidden. There was no way a split lip was gonna be hidden.
Ari is gonna be so mad at me.. The thought crossed her mind. Her twin was gonna ask so many questions too.
When she heard her cousin yelling she opened her eyes and huffed as she moved to get up. Her hip was stiffening up though and it hurt with sand in it.
