[ WE ] Mysterious Wreckage [ WE ]

[- Solo Located Here -]
[- 761 Words -]
[- Oba -]

Aeuri was wandering through the market with one of his nanny's a few steps ahead. Now that he was older, he didn't appreciate all of the shadowing from those assigned to him. Sure, it helped his parents feel better, but people noticed him more when he had a shadow. Already they recognized his blonde hair on the dark skin, but now they knew him as more thanks to his pink crystals. It was his unique traits that were just interesting enough for him to stand out against the Obans of Sulburi.

Those Obans saw him as mixed blood, and some still didn't quite like that. He got picked on by many of the pure-blooded kids, especially those who were raised in the 'old families'...at least that's how his mother described them. He didn't quite understand the concept, as all families were full of older people like his grandparents. Why would they need to say that, when those old families also included young members too? Aeuri was still trying to figure it all out.

As they made way to the market, a loud ruckus sounded near the end where travelers would set up. It was a fun place for Aeuri to explore, as often there were trinkets from distant lands he had never seen before. It was always an adventure he hated to end, and so he quickly moved in that direction before his shadow could call out for him to stop.

As his little body pushed through the gathering crowd, Aeuri took a deep breath and finally made it out into the open. First, his eyes were blinded by a warm light reflecting off of an item.

"I swear, I found this treasure on the coast, washed up from sea dwellers!"

The person holding up the item was a mixed breed, just like him but from the north. He had dark hair and fair skin, and seemed excited to spread the word of the tablet he held up. It was an interesting item, with shiny metal that was unlike anything he had seen. It wasn't gold, or silver, but a rich sandy color hit by sunset red. The markings were strange, even with his minimal knowledge of reading Aeuri could still tell it was a unique language. And it was so bent and twisted.

Oh if only he could touch it.

As the man shouted out some more, he pulled out another metal piece that was spiraled, like his mother's bracelets. It was the same color, but sharp and interesting. Aeuri's eyes were wide as he looked up at the two items the man claimed were from creatures in the sea. Aeuri tried to picture it, sea-dwelling earthlings who were covered in sand and had the red-metal. Maybe they had it as outfits that covered them in armor. Maybe they used them to swim, because obviously they would need to be able to fight the current of the water. Or maybe they were made of the items.

Suddenly Aeuri pictured a creature with the spiral item as arms and legs. Gasping, he caught the attention of the traveler, who grinned.

"Watch to touch the metal, young man?"

It took a second for Aeuri to realize the man was speaking to him, and at that point the long plate was held in front of him. Others leaned closer, looking down at the writing as Aeuri's hand hovered over the metal. As his finger touched it, it twitched once before brushing across the cool metal. The man waited paitently, before asking what he felt.

"It's cool to the touch, and feels like armor!"

Others gasped and awed as the man pulled back and began to claim it was something new, armor from past wars. Aeuri at that point was pulled away from the crowd, his ears ringing and his fingers tingling softly with what just happened. He babbled a bit, before realizing that he'd be able to brag to his siblings. Usually they found all of the cool items, or the fun games, or the special things. Now, he'd be able to share his story, with his brother's jealousy and his sister's impressed face.

Grinning, he turned to the dancer beside him, his shadow, and laughed a bit.

"Did you see, I got to touch it!"

She smiled a bit back, and patted his head before ushering him along. They needed to get back in time for dinner, and he was very excited to get home. He had so much to share, and was ready to talk about it for days to come.

[ WE ] Coming Together [ WE ]

[- Solo Located Here -]
[- 755 words-]
[- Oba -]

Tendaji, a land of tribes and cultures spread across land and sea. It was filled to the brim with warriors, magical casters, and traders who would travel and bring fortune or chaos. Aeuri had seen it all from his home deep in the heart of Oba. He knew what the world could bring, both from his experiences and his parents.

On one hand, the expansion of Tendaji brought cultures together, potentially melding into something new. His father, a strict soldier from a well-to-do family, had broken away from his own path to marry his mother, an orphan dancer. His mother was novel when she first arrived, but now lived and breathed like any other Oban. She was well recognized, respected, and even worshiped by some for how she liberated the Red.

His siblings were something new, something seen as a taboo when first born. But now, years later, more and more hybrids were appearing all across Tendaji. Love, as they said, had no bounds. He knew it from how he saw his parents interact with each other, how he saw Itotia interact with her shifter friend, and his occasional watching of others.

Truly, he loved hybrids, because he himself was a hybrid. He loved different, unique, strange, because he himself was strange. He grew up around dancers and musicians in the Red who told him tales of the world outside of the desert. Of the sights, the sounds, the beauty and the cultures. Aeuri soaked it up as an escape from his own reality, from the bullies who took advantage of his meekness and from the shadow that was cast by his siblings. He spent his nights dreaming of great mountains covered in ice, to a swamp where people's eyes glowed, to the great tree that's blossoms birthed warriors.

He wished everywhere was so welcoming as his dreams, that the world could meld until no one was hurt by who they were or where they were born.

Now, as time healed the wounds of war and pain, it seemed his dream was becoming a reality. He still dealt with the scorn of pure-blooded Obans who refused to let go of the past, but eventually they too would fade in time. He was a legacy of his parent's union, and he had the chance to build his own legacy. For once, Aeuri felt optimism that drove him to wish to act. He wanted to go, he wanted to take a risk and move, he wanted to see the other lands that he heard about and dreamed of.

It was a secret he kept close to his heart as he looked up to the sky, wondering if the stars would be the same when he decided to travel and see.

Aeuri was growing, and he knew that. Maybe this is what becoming an adult felt like. The freedom to move away from your parent's embrace, to accept fault and take risk knowing they wouldn't catch you if you fell. Maybe that's why he wanted to become a healer, so he could heal himself just as much as those around him. Maybe this is why, finally, he wanted to become Aeuri, not a triplet.

He loved his siblings, but maybe they too were holding him back from the potential the world had to offer.

It was time he took a chance to explore and travel, maybe even by himself. Sure, he'd like to lean on his siblings, and protect them in turn, but what if the held him back. What if they were holding him back from stepping out? Aeuri pushed that deep below to forget, because he knew that wasn't the case.

He was holding himself back.

Determination filled him as he continued on, as he saw the new cultures come and go and traveled to the market whenever a foreign vendor stopped through. He touched, he smelled, he tasted and he grew. He expanded his mind and grew confident in where it was going.

Yes, the world was evolving, it was changing and healing, and so was he. Aeuri was excited to be part of a new culture of harmony, and knew his parents were early trendsetters to a positive change. The future was filled with the chance to co-exist, but one needed to be open. Aeuri felt like he was open and ready to go. All he needed to do was prepare, take a risk, and follow the breeze. Everything would be ok if he trusted in himself and had faith in those around him.

[ S ] Class Affinity Solo [ S ]

[- 617 words -]

Aeuri was not a fighter. Growing up as the middle child in a family of five, he would much rather call himself dependable, calm, and reliable. His brother Orin was the more rambunctious of the triplets, the one to race into trouble head first and come home proud of his bruises. Nasuri, beautiful like their mother, preferred a more subtle approach. She leaned toward magic to strike from afar, enjoying the beauty of the runes.

Suria was the biggest troublemaker, moreso than Orin. She quickly attuned herself to small blades. Petite and nimble, she didn't care about getting dirty and would do so in style. Aeuri was concerned about what problems she would cause, not only for their family but for all of Tendaji.

Sweet, sweet Nedrima. She was the one most likely to take over the Red, if any of the siblings. Aeuri just wanted to make sure she was protected, especially if she decided to forgo any weapons and simply rule with her mind.

Yes, Aeuri was lost among a sea of shining siblings, but that didn't mean he wasn't thinking of what he could do. Dependable. Reliable. A protector of sorts.

He knew he wouldn't make a great fighter. Up close and personal just wasn't something he was confident with, especially after growing up with bullies constantly pushing him down. In fact, any confrontational role in society was a hard no in his mind. He knew since he was young that he wouldn't join the army like his father, but he always thought he needed to do something.

Magic classes were always interesting, especially seeing Nasuri constantly train with her runes. But even the aggressive nature of them make him a bit concerned. He wasn't sure he could do damage, and he wasn't sure what roles were out there from a more protective side of things.

So he was nervous still...the pressure to find something with his life a constant weight on his shoulders. Thankfully, his parents didn't pressure him much...but seeing his other siblings begin to go down their path caused Aeuri to put pressure on himself.

It was one day when he wandered through the markets that he stumbled across a healer. The woman was offering, at no charge, her ability to sooth those around her. Many scoffed, preferring to go somewhere else than be healed by the foreigner. But Aeuri was open to the idea, especially considering the woman seemed to be a Yaeli priestess from the south.

Preaching of their gods, Aeuri ignored her words and just watched. She soothed bumped knees, broken bones, bruises and even mental confusion. She was soft spoken, motherly even, and efficient in her ways. And the best part, any time someone tried to pay, she turned them away. She was a healer first, and her efforts to spread health went beyond pay.

It was a noble cause, and it resonated with Aeuri. He wanted to be the one to protect his siblings, but he wasn't sure taking a shield would work. But he knew that their hotheadedness would result in many bruises and wounds, and if he could be there to help heal them...it was an idea that made more sense than anything else.

Determined, Aeuri spent the next few days watching the Yaeli healer before she moved on. He observed and learned everything she could do to help others, and what she was doing. He noticed the tools he would need, the skills he would need to develop, and he became more confident. For once in his life, he believed this was something he could do.

Aeuri would become a healer, grow into someone who could help others both in battle and out.

[ S ] Growth Solo [ S ]

[- 684 words -]
[- Oba -]

[ Aeuri has stumbled upon a hybrid who has been attacked on his way home from the Red. Unable to help them, he must grapple with his weakness and lack of training in the face of a person in need. ]

Aeuri waved off one of the guards at the Red Amaryllis, shaking his head at their instance to walk him home when he had walked the path hundreds of time before. Besides, the sun was only just setting below the buildings and the night was clear. The lighting was fine, and he would go straight home as he promised. After turning the corner, he was happy to get out of their view. They were protective, considering they knew his family since they were born. He couldn't blame them...knowing Sulburi, he'd be protective of his friends and family too.

As he walked, he considered his recent decisions to follow a path of healing. He was no fighter, but he wanted to help others. Especially if it meant protecting his family. Soon, he'd find a way to follow the path of a healer, all he needed was a sponsor to help guide him in his studies. Walking by an alley that he avoided cutting through, he nearly ran into a bunch of Obans walking out. They were laughing, muscular boys, and he even recognized some of them as bullies from his childhood. One cussed at him, but all seemed too distracted to give him much notice.

He let out a breath and continued to walk until he overheard exactly why they were laughing. A chill ran down his spine as they walked around the corner, before he spun and quickly raced back into the alley way. Looking around in the darkness, it took time for his eyes to adjust before they caught sight of a figure leaning against the wall.

"s**t..." he cursed, rushing over and falling on his knees right to their side. His eyes darted at the dark splotches across their fair skin, their matori ears clearly calling out the fact they were a hybrid.

Aeuri felt his stomach heave as he realized what happened, his mind going numb and his body leaning back so he could catch his breath. This young man was a hybrid, and he was attacked.

"E-everything will be ok...I-I'll go and get help!" He said quickly, realizing he was nothing just sitting there, as he went to get up, a pale hand reached out and grabbed his wrist with surprising grip. Blue eyes looked up in pain, and a moaning filled the space before a shuttering cough.

As sudden as it was, the hand fell limp and the body stopped moving. Aeuri felt his eyes tighten as he pushed himself back, unable to do anything but scramble and run. The next few minutes were a blur, in fact he couldn't quite recall how he was able to find a guard and lead them to the body. He didn't stick around to check if the hybrid was still alive, instead telling them what he saw and rushing home.

He didn't even remember if he told them his old bully's name. Hopefully he didn't, because he wasn't confident they would be locked up or he would be safe.

Instead, he walked past his worried family and into his room, sitting numb as he could still feel the hand and the shuttering breaths.

"I...I couldn't save him..." He whispered in the night, haunted eyes looking up to the moon as he walked outside. He walked past his pool toward one of the many trees that fanned his home, letting out a growl and slamming his fist to the bark. Immediately, he sunk to his knees as tears fell from his eyes from the pain in his knuckles and in his soul.

"...I can't save anyone..."

In that moment, he knew he couldn't wait. Tomorrow it could be Nedrima in that alley, or his mother and father. How could he deal with seeing them hurt, broken, and knowing if he just put effort in making a decision to go and learn he could have saved them.

He needed to find a master. He needed to find someone, anyone to help him become someone to depend on. He had to, to make up for the nameless hybrid he couldn't help due to his failures.

Determination - 606 Words

It had been a long few months since that attack he had witnessed, and still Aeuri felt himself haunted by the memory. It was a difficult one to forget, the haunting eyes of the earthling he was too late to save. He had fallen into a depression of sorts, and his family avoided him. Sure his mother was there to sooth away his sweat when he woke up from a nightmare, and his father tried. Well as best as he could his father tried. But Nuri wasn't the emotional type, and all he could do was pat his son on the shoulder and give him space.

His younger sisters didn't quite understand what was happening, and his twins...he struggled so hard to hide his struggles from them. It was weird, not confiding in them this one time, but he didn't want to announce his weakness, his sorrow, his failure.

It wasn't until someone walked in and shoved him outside into the sun that he realized how long he had been alone. He was pale, at least he seemed pale, and his eyes sunken. He looked faded, washed out, and it just was so unlike him. He worried his bottom lip as he wondered if his mother was in pain seeing him like this. Seeing him so weak and broken.

Aeuri wasn't the type to just face his fears like his siblings. Sure, he was strong because he was with them, but alone he was simply Aeuri. A lost child who couldn't stand up to bullies. Who couldn't move fast enough to save others. Who couldn't for the life of him find a way to heal himself and this pain.

Oba was just too much, he realized that now. The reminders of his childhood, the dangers in the shadows. It just wasn't a great place for him to linger. That's why he hid away in his room, away from the reminders. Because when he was reminded, he hurt. And when he hurt...he didn't know what to do.

"I need to leave." He admitted to his rippling reflection in the pool, before dipping his hands in to break it up and throw water on his face. Already, he felt better. Clean, refreshed. There was still that dark shadow of uncertainty way back in the back of his mind, but it was quiet. Calm. There were no reminders of dead bodies or hulking bullies. Just the opportunity, and that small flicker of magic that demanded he help it grow.

His siblings were always so adventurous...why couldn't he be the same? Why couldn't he go out and take his life by the reigns, to step up and own his destiny? Tendaji wasn't that big, and an adventure sounded just the right way to grow his confidence, to take risks, and to maybe find a way to save others.

He'd have to talk to his parents, but it was probably best to go to his siblings and see if they'd like to join them. And maybe to apologize for disappearing for so long. Orin might not mind too much, but Nasuri probably was angry with him...and that was never a good thing. He'd probably need to get her a present too to tide her over. Orin...just asking him to go on an adventure would probably cheer him up. And as long as he had them, he knew he could get through things. Even if it meant leaning on them a little...it would be fine if they helped him take the steps. Because eventually, he'd learn to run on his own, and then he'd be ready to face the shadows of Oba.

[ Aeuri is reflecting on his travels so far and what he's accomplished, where he wants to go, and how he might get there ]

The sound of the engines made it hard for him to talk to his siblings, so Aeuri instead went to the edge of the deck to lean out and look across the ocean. After getting over the anxiety and light headedness, it was quite peaceful. The dips and weaves of the airship had them moving at a steady pace, and the view from below was breathtaking. It made the world seem so insignificant, and Aeuri wondered how might Oban look from all the way up here.

The people, the bullies, the problems, they'd all be so small. So meaningless. So...unimportant. The thought struck him suddenly and stuck with him for longer than he expected. It was so insignificant.

Oba had been his life for so long. He grew on those streets, understanding the army and the entertainment and learning about the culture. He could count the steps to each place where he was bullied with his eyes closed...but he also could hear the laughter of his siblings as they played in the waters and chased their Perzi. He could smell the food that Itotia cooked when they were growing up before she left. He could hear the sound of the music that played gently through his walls and helped him fall asleep.

Yet it was all miles away. Forgotten smells and senses that were impossible to recall.

And here, up here in the sky, he was himself. He was growing, stronger and more determined each day. He was confident now in his own abilities, if still uncertain around others. And he had his siblings here to catch him if he fell, though they let him try things out on his own.

And he was in a freaking air ship!

Laughing out loud as the wind pushed through his hair, he ignored the stares of the crewmen and spun around a moment to look up high in the sky. Where the clouds covered the sun but the moon lingered lightly in the skyline. Here, the sky was different, clear and cool. But it was the same sky that watched over all of Tendaji, be it in Belrea, Kahikina, or through the window in his home in Oba.

It was a beautiful realization, and Aeuri felt something unwind. Was it his soul? Was he becoming something akin to...happy? Elated? He was happy, but mostly with his family. This was self-happiness. He was proud of himself. Of who he was, the risks he took, and the tasks he accomplished.

He left Oba a broken brother, dragged through the sands by his vibrant siblings. But as they traveled through Tendaji toward Belrea, he was arriving as himself. Aeuri. The Healer. The Firestopper. The man.

It took awhile for the ship to drift down toward the docks, but Aeuri stood outside even as his nose began to grow cold. He wanted to watch Belrea with his own eyes, to consume his future of opportunity while he could. This was his moment, and when he took a step off that ship, he would be stepping on the next path that would lead him to his destiny.
