How does your character react to the introduction of Kahikina to Tendaji? This prompt can be anything, a way to cope, a way to learn more, even the first time they meet the other race. The main focus is discover and evaluation of this new world

She couldn't believe what she heard. Suria was wandering around town, flirting with the boys and playing with her daggers when she overheard a group of Matori speaking loudly to the crowd. They came bearing news of a new island discovery, having just found out themselves a few weeks prior. Already others were running about to travel across Tendaji, to ensure everyone heard about this island.
The travelers claimed that after months of exploration, they had discovered underwater creatures who looked like them, but didn't need to breath air.
It was impossible!
The young pickpocket listened a little longer before spinning on her heel, her ponytail flying with her before rushing off back home. She had to tell her family, her mother would most likely want to know in terms of the Red and her father because of potential war. If he hadn't known already, being so high ranking that he was.

Aeuri was lounging near the pool in the back, feeding dried fish to his Perzi. The other two slinked out of the shadows, their noses twitching as they smelt the treats. Nasuri and Orin were out, so naturally they came to him mewling for more food. Sometimes he wondered if they even fed their pets anymore. Now that the three Perzi were older, they were more docile and lounged like kings near the pool, content to soak in the heat than hunt for prey.
As the three came closer, Aeuri sprinkled the food out in front of them, unaware that the whirlwind known as Suria was about to descend upon him.

Stomping up the path to her childhood home, Suria briefly thought about how maybe it was time to move on in the world. She knew her siblings felt similar, at least the triplets. She admittedly didn't get into such things with Nedrima, her gentle little sister.
Shaking it off, she closed the door with a snap, pausing just a moment to cringe and hope her father wasn't here to hear that. Or worse...Aeuri.
As she looked ahead, it seemed the gods thought to play a joke, because the house was quiet and her gentle older brother was lounging outside. Seems like the only gossip in the house was the one who was a stick in the mud.

The snap of the door caught his attention just as all three perzi scattered, the food gone and the younger sibling not someone they wanted to stay around. They tolerated Suria and Nedrima, but favored the triplets due to them having raised the perzi. Rubbing his hands together to get the spare fish flakes, Aeuri stood and turned slowly to look at his younger sister.
She seemed out of breath, excitable, and a bit bright eyed. He hoped he wouldn't have to play parental figure, considering he was the only one home.
"Suria, you know you shouldn't slam the door..." He called out as he walked inside, the sweat on his skin taking a chill due to the cooler air of their home, "One day you're going to break it..."

The pretty girl rolled her bright eyes, placed her hands on her hips and stuck her tongue out at her brother. Of course, he would tell her to play nice as if he were her father. Aeuri the role model. Aeuri the even keeled.
Well, she would see if she could shake him based on the news she heard.
"Yeah yeah..." She brushed off with a wave, walking past before spinning on her heel like a dancer, "Where's everyone else? I've got some interesting news I heard today that they'll want to hear..."

Aeuri had to clench his jaw to resist scolding his sister, reminding himself that he wasn't her babysitter anymore. She was an adult, she could make her own decisions even if it was to be the rebel of the family.
As she walked by, he turned to catch her spin, leaning back to avoid her long ponytail as it almost hit him in his face. He nearly missed what she said, and blinked before asking, "What news? Mom and Dad are out and I haven't seen Nasuri or Orin since earlier...but what news did you hear?"
She didn't often make an effort to spread her gossip, so it had to be something worth listening to. He hoped.

Hook. Line. Sinker. She now had someone who would listen, and she'd be the one to spread the news. Suria got a small half grin as she walked closer to Aeuri, leaning in and lowering her voice to raise the suspence.
"There were riders from Matori, just arrived and out of breath. More were changing out mounts so they could head to the north..." She whispered, "You know how I can spot big news a mile away, so I moved closer to overhear..."

When she leaned in, Aueri resisted the urge to roll his eyes. She was being dramatic to be dramatic, something she had taken to do as she grew older and older. She was a bit of a showman, using it to distract others so she could accomplish her goal.
In this case, it felt like she was trying to tease him. When she paused dramatically, he actually did roll his eyes and let out a huff. Walking away, he called over his shoulder, "If you're not going to be serious about this, why am I even going to listen?" before plopping down on a seat and looking at her expectantly, "Just tell me what you heard already..."

She resisted the urge to laugh at his back, instead covering her hand with her mouth as if covering her gasp. It was fun teasing her siblings, an art perfected after long years of being a younger sister. Following after with a skip in her step, she sat on an ottoman in front and crossed her legs, thoughtfully tapping her chin with a grin.
"Alright, alright. No need to get all upset by it...was just trying to tell a story..." She responded, before her face suddenly became serious and she leaned back to rest her weight on her palms.
"They said they found another island with life on it...earthlings that can swim and breath underwater with gills like a fish and scales all over their bodies..."

He let out a startled laugh, almost a woosh of air, as he shook his head and leaned back as well, "You're kid-" He cut himself off. She wasn't kidding. Her face was serious for once, and she was still while she watched his reaction. Deep down, he had a feeling she wasn't sure how to process this news either, and maybe the fact she was finally stationary meant she too was evaluating it in her mind.
"Fish people...like actually living underwater fish people?" He echoed, not waiting for her response, "I'd say it's impossible...but we discovered the Yaeli and Lightning with their strange eyes...and the Geians with their growing markings..."
Running a hand through his hair, he shook his head again, "I wonder if dad knows anything about this..."

Suria let the silence linger between his thoughts, trying to process her own as well. He was right, they could legitimately be more than rumors. Many of the Earthlings and Aishans had different traits, so why would it be unreasonable to consider fish? They existed under the water...maybe it meant there were some in Tendaji as well.
She laughed nervously at the thought.
"They said they spent months wandering around the island before they discovered them...that they lived underwater and didn't need to come up for air..." her hands came together to rub, "If father knows about this already...could that mean they are dangerous?"

Aeuri reached out to touch her fingers where they were entwined, trying to let her know he was there and shake her out of those thoughts, "If they were dangerous, I don't think Matori travelers would be the one to spread the word..." Tendaji had come together for peace, and together they would come to protect their shores, "If we were the ones to discover them...I'll be they are more concerned with us than them..."
He smiled a bit and leaned back, before adding, "I think it'd be fun...to see fish people who don't need air to live. I wonder how colorful they are...fish are colorful, you think maybe they come in all different shapes too?" He grinned then, trying to joke a bit to lighten the truth.
They had discovered a new island, with new people. Tendaji was continuing to grow, which mean uncertainty in their time of hard fought peace.

She smiled in return, rolling her shoulders to loosen the tension of those thoughts. Aeuri, stick-in-the-mud he was, was right. If they were dangerous, odds were that the military wouldn't let strangers spread rumors. So far they were an unknown, but hopefully a peaceful unknown. Sure as heck they didn't need another Elaria group running around claiming they owned the place.
"What if they have big 'ol fish eyes" She widened her eyes for effect, before laughing at the thought and moving to stand.
"You're right. At this point there's no need to fret...we'll get news as it comes in...and I'm sure father will keep his ear to the ground. Just need to make sure we're here to listen."
Nodding her head once more, she smiled before leaning in and giving Aeuri a kiss, "Be a dear and let me be the one to tell the others...alright?" before spinning again and walking away to grab some food. Rumors were hard work, and she had developed quite the appetite.

Aeuri smiled back, glad his words had some effect on his sister. Even grown and able to defend herself, Aeuri still worried for her from time to time. She was a bit of a hot head, wild spirited and quickly to act without thinking. He just hoped he would never hear the day where she seriously got hurt.
"Yeah, sure, whatever you say Suria." He responded, his cheeks grinning at the show of affection as she left the room. His smile soon dropped as he leaned back, wondering if he could find any more information about this new race. Odds were, they would have a long time before they saw any in Tendaji...but one could never be too safe these days.
