Bridget's ears perked forward, a touch of heat moving across her cheeks as she giggled softly to the other girl's softer words. "Hehe... um, thanks?" Like, her clothes? Her clawed fingers picked at the orange and red scarf around her neck. But she asked a question, and the Bakeneko Hallow blinked down at the JINGLE stocking she carried. "Oh! Um!" She turned and moved a little closer to the other girl's side so she could properly point towards the adults who'd given her the stocking, the new little bells at her ears jingling all the while. "See them? Those guys? They're giving them out! So we can carry our stuff in them if we want," she offered, giving the explanation the volunteers had given her.
With that set, she grinned and offered her hand as she'd seen adults do time and time again when meeting someone new. "I'm Bridget, by the way!" Another vendor close to them was offering collection of candy canes, and Bridget couldn't help but grab one, dropping it into her stocking as if in example of her previous statement. "Want some?" She offered a couple of the canes towards the other girl, finding no reason to... well, hoard it all herself.
Aisling, who hadn't had much experience with other Freshlings, except through her classes, found herself quite enjoying the other girls company. Her head wings fluttered when she got closer to her, but she didn't step away and instead followed her gaze to the direction that the girl was pointing.
"U-Um... I'll be right back!" She said and darted off towards the adult bearing the stockings. She whisked one that had spots of red, again thinking that it might match her eyes, and then hurried back to the girl's side. "Lookit!" She said as she held up her stocking. "Now we both have one!" She beamed at the other girl, or, what was beaming for Aisling, which was a wide, close-mouthed smile. When the girl stuck out her hand and introduced herself, Aisling's wings, all eight of them, seemed to wave happily. She took the girl's hand and bounced it a little. That's what adults did, right? "I'm Aisling." She replied.
Watching as the girl picked up a bunch of candy canes from one of the other adults offering sweets, she took the ones that were offered to her and smiled. "Thank you..." She said, her smile ever present. "You're really cool." She told Bridget, before glancing around at the other vendors. "Do you wanna walk around together?" She asked.
The next booth they went to ended up being a small ring toss game that the girls played. Orion lingered to watch, not wanting to play himself. His intent to keep his accumulations to a minimum seemed to be somewhat for naught, though, when a small Fennekit trotted over and somewhat perched itself upon his foot. He tried to maneuver away from the critter, but it whined and set itself back in place.

Reina jumped up and down, delighted, as her third ring managed to land home on the bottles lined up. "That one, please," she chimed, pointing to a bracelet with black beads and white snowflakes. When she realized Orion had a new familiar though, she got a bit preoccupied cooing over it.
Tatiana seemed to have the same luck as Reina, giggling and grinning as she, too, managed three perfect rings. "Um... that one, please," she said, pointing to the other bracelet with the snowflake pattern. It was kinda fun, to match like that... Though she quickly showed her somewhat-sister, Tatiana also fell into the trap that was the cuteness of the Fennekit.

The fact Aisling had so many wings was amazing to Bridget, who had to stifle a laugh when the other girl's head wings fluttered. She didn't want to be rude, after all. She was good though, and waited patiently for Aisling to return with her festive stocking. Upon her return, Bridget pursed her lips and looked over the newly acquired makeshift bag, and gave a firm nod of approval at the choice, a smile returning to her face upon the confirmation. "Good choice! That's a cute one."
This was cool though! Meeting a new person outside of classes was something that, biasedly, Bridget loved. Largely because school was boring in her oh so expert opinion, and any time she was beyond the Academy walls was an extra special bonus. But now she was also meeting another Hallowed child, like her! A very different one, sure, but still. All counted, all was super cool. And she had so many wings!
When she'd offered the candy canes, her eyes went wide and face beneath her fur reddened again. "I-I am? Why?" Not that her ego wasn't puffing up a bit at the complements, but. Well. What had she done to earn such a thing? At least right now anyways.
But a more important question was in place! The squirrel girl hopped up and down a few times, unable to keep herself from gleeing. Someone to hang out with! So a very good chance at a new friend! Jeeze, this festival was already awesome. "Yes, yes! Stuff like this has to be way, way more fun with someone else. Um... should we check out more booths? Or games?" Her eyes narrowed slightly as she surveyed the offerings around them.
truthfully this kind of was her first festival. She had briefly been at the haunted hallows festival but something had come up and they only really stayed for ten minutes. Not really enough to earn that festival goer badge. So maybe the whole idea felt lonely. Swinging her legs back in forth, she let out another sigh and leaned back in the bench. Apparently her distress was rather notable because as soon as she closed her eyes. Something bumped into her legs. She looked up to see a spectre fox staring back at her. It sat next to her and planted their head on her lap. “Come to keep me company? I would definitely like that”
Plushie prize in hand, qamrasitri decided it was time to see another spectacular thing at the festival and skipped to the next stall. They where offering free bracelets for any festival owner. Qamra briefly looked down. She didn’t really feel too festive. Micah was the more festive looking one but one should dress up right. Get in the spirit to truly enjoy the festival. So she picked one on, thanked the maker of the bracelet and hummed a little tune before skipping away to the next distraction. It really was a rather pretty bracelet.
well that was one gift down but Ceres wasn’t sure what to get the parents after all most of the things they wanted they could go out and buy themselves and eventually you just got too many jewelry pieces or the like. Neph did like flowers so Ceres did wander over to a flower stall, they were even advertising that there was a charm on the flower to keep them from wilting. However something else happened when Ceres leaned down to check them out. Something crawled out of the flower and then up his arm to crawl around him. It was as if they deemed his jacket pocket more comfortable and made a place there. Was this the whole familiar thing people talked about?
Saira made her way into the festival, trying to look alert even after getting up early for an exam. The winter festival was always a big event, and still the teachers seemed to pile on the work as if they were going to forget everything by the time they went back.
Looking around, she saw that as usual it was very busy, The older kids were mostly gathered around the games, though a few silly ones were taking part in the festivities meant for the younger kids.
A stand was selling a seasonal goodie, peppermint bark! She grabbed a bag and made note of where the booth was, just in case the bag didn't last all night...
MiddyGlow
Eloise stayed around the outskirts of the festival, still debating on whether or not to join in. She had graduated last year, and felt odd going to an event that had so many younger kids. Would she look out of place?
Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself and headed towards the crowds and lights, determined to at least try to enjoy this.
She saw what had to be an anomaly, a small bookstore? They had a rack of books marked as 'free', and...could it be...they had it?! She snagged a book off the rack and quickly stuffed it into her jacket, lest anyone take notice...
Micillia's Partying Nightmares Frit holds points: 5 Don't be afraid to RP with them!
Main Characters Frit (5) Frit figured some social interaction would help her get out of her research funk. She had been having a hard time focusing on her work, seeming to get distracted and loosing track of time easily. She just needed a bit of time out of the lab, that was it! Maybe seeing some new things would help her out.
Low and behold, first thing she saw was a weird animal. Her face lit up. She had seen them around, but never really considered getting one. What scientific wonders was the creature hiding? What was it going to teach her? She let the thing sniff her, let it bond. "Hello, may i call you... Insight?" For all the insights she would hopefully gleam from this creature. Stachys ( 8 ) Here with Frit "Uh... Frit?" The fey tried to say as he scoped the room. He didnt know about being here... the shy nightmare was always unsure about being in large crowded places. He reached out a hand to grab his friend, but came back empty handed... Of course Frit had wandered off! Stachys tried not to panic.
Abrus (7) Abrus was one for parties, of course he was! A refined nightmare at a refined party. He may even make some connections! It was always smart for someone in the entertainment business to work on connections. Maybe instead of whatever passed for "entertainment" at this party could be exchanged for something far better. Something he could set up and preform. Lika (16) Here with Abrus Lika... well she went where Abrus went. The mutated nightmare loved her adoptive father, but she also didn't really understand what he wanted with her... so far she was supposed to be learning to juggle. So, she had her juggling balls, her costume on, and did what Abrus told her to; put on a show, attract some eyes. Someone handed her a plushie for her work, and she blushed. Now that was a good tip.
Muridae (5) She had thought she heard Jet might be here... Oh Jet... after their couple's game show debut she just... she wanted to see him again. She knew it was all just a ploy, a plan to get the prize, she had felt something for him.... She hoped it wasnt just all a lie...
The nightmare walked over to the collection of pets and decided to try and occupy herself with something cute instead of dwelling over her one sided love. "Oh, uh, Hi." She said meekly to one of the familiars that came up to her. "Your... uh, your really pretty..."
Lord Starsworn (1) He figured since he was here, he might as well look at what the other high class nightmares did for their parties. Starsworn scowled as he looked at the kids running around, the loud noises, the animals It was a mess! The nightmare folded his arms but didnt leave. If he wanted to be a fine lord, get some social standing, he needed to try and stay, even tho the one who ran this party was obviously not real lord material. Umberah (16) Here with Lord Starsworn Umberah could see the annoyance in her Lord's eyes. He was better than this place, better than whatever party this was. She stuck by his side tho, it was her duty. The nightmare only took a second to pick up a plushie, maybe Lord Starsworn would need a cheering up gift later...
Secondary Characters Eudica (7) Here with Clair Eudica sighed. Of course Clair wanted to go out to a party, the other nightmare was just that kind of person. "Well, here we are." She said as she smoothed out her already quite smooth holiday dress. "Was there anything you really wanted to do or....?" She waited, Clair would lead the way, it was just how things went. Not that she minded of course. Clair (9) Here with Eudica "OF COURSE THERE IS!" The mutated nightmare called out. There was so much to do! Eudica's flat voice did not damper Clair's excitement at all. "OH!" She exclaimed. "LOOK AT THIS!" Clair said as she picked up a plushie. Now was the trouble... did she give it to Plein? Or.... keep it for herself? Plein (1) Here with Clair Plein followed his older cousin, marveling. He spotted a bunch of gifts, and pulled on Clair's skirt. He wanted a plushie! He looked up at his quite busy cousin and decided to wait... for now.
Sylvia (2) Sylvia walked into the party with Angela. Having a friend with her was nice, not that the self confident teacher needed anything. Still, Angela's company made things infinitely better. "Where do you want to go first?" She asked her friend. Angela (20) Here with Sylvia "OOOH!" Angela squealed as she dragged Sylvia over to where some very cool things were. "Sylvia LOOK AT THESE!" She slapped a hand to her cheek as she picked one out, settling on one of them. "What do you think?!" She asked her friend.
Charmeine (19) Charmeine loved the holiday, but was not completely set on the party. Its not that she didnt like parties, but more so that this holiday was special, and she was unsure if a party was the right way to celebrate... Charmeine was fairly pious, and she wanted to celebrate Winter Solstices in the right way. Well, one fluffy doll couldn't hurt... right?
Aryl ( 8 ) Aryl had tried to drag her friend along for the party, but she could only do so much. Parties, especially this one, was where nightmares went to celebrate as a family! Sadly, Aryl did not have a real family of her own, but she did have a friend, and she could make more!
Delta (19) Delta wandered the party in a half daze, just happy to be there. They often went around like this, just wandering who knows where, who knows when, finding who know what. They did find something tho, and Delta was keeping it. This who-know-what was a keeper.
Carmen (2) Carmen stomped into the party, followed closely by Chatte and Adini. She was supposed to be on a case! It was frustrating, you know? She had things to look up, leads to follow, places to stake out! But for some reason her friends wanted her to get out and socialize. She sighed. She guessed she had been ignoring them because of her work... she could do this, for them. Chatte (5) Here with Carmen Thank god she had gotten these two out! "Come on you have been caged up for like, hours. Getting out and going here is the least you could do!" The kumiko looked around, and her tails perked up. "Hey! Look at this!" She picked up a familiar. "They match my dress! We gotta keep this guy around." Adini (5) Here with Carmen Adini kept their eyes on Carmen. Chatte had come for the party, Adini had come because they wanted to, and Carmen had come because Chatte made her. It made the nightmare worry about her friend, Carmen. The Cherub had been obsessed with her most recent case, and although they were glad that Carmen had gotten out of her office, they still wanted to keep an eye out, and make sure the cherub didnt get too stressed out through all of this.
Adini laughed when Chatte looked over the adorable creatures. "They are cute..." They said, "But this one is way cuter." Adini said as they picked out another pet. "Also, mine is bigger." Adini said as if that mattered even a little.
Arthur (13) Arthur scoped the room, his eyes resting on a large pile of toys. "Come on!" He said as he pulled Vebina with him. There were plushies and Arthur wanted one. He pushed his way to the table and looked them over. A couple caught his eye and he pulled two off the table, handing one to Verbina and keeping one for himself. "Merry Winter Solstice!" Verbina (6) Here with Arthur Verbina followed Arthur. Arthur was the leader, and Verbina was the follower, he would do anything for Arthur. He always figured that his devotion to Arthur was that he would get Arthur things, do things for Arthur, which is why it was such a surprise when the other freshline handed him a matching plushie. Verbina tried not to cry. "Thank you Arthur.:

Lunette was happy with the day it was really nice out and she was dressed warmly. She smiled she had great company, she hadn't decided what she wanted to do yet or what she wanted to buy. It didn't really matter one bit though because everything else was perfect.
Enju felt rather shy right now but he was having a nice day even though he was a shy fellow and felt like he shone a lot less than the rest of his strong family.
Coco wasn't sure what she wanted she didn't know what games she wanted to play or what candy she wanted to get.
Aisling's smile remained when the girl complimented her stocking and she nodded, petting its soft surface. When the girl asked her why she thought she was cool, Aisling tried to come up with a distinct reason.
"You're... floofy. And you're kind." She shuffled her feet uncertainly. "And you're the only one that's really, uh, talked to me. No one in my classes seem to." She said. She perked up considerably when Bridget said she would go around with her. She stuffed the remaining peppermint sticks into her stocking and then looked around.
"Let's go there!" She said, pointing to a game booth that looked like it involved tossing rings onto sticks. There was a big kids one, but she saw one that was about her height next to it. Taking Bridget's hand without a second thought, she went over to the game. The adult running it handed her three rings and told her the rules. Bridget, smiling, tossed one of the rings and it bounced off. She tried again: miss. Her eyes narrowed in determination, she threw her last ring. "I did it!" She cheered, bouncing up and down in excitement.
The adult came back with a box full of Vespercat plushies and held them out to Aisling. Choosing a purple one off the top, she turned and grinned at Bridget. "Do you wanna try?" She asked her.
Korvo loved festivals. Carnival games, warm food, live music... and plenty of unsuspecting, walking wallets. He could make a couple grand easy in just a few hours, mingling with the plebeians. Merchandise was so over-priced, everyone carried a few golden crowns on them.
Well, most everyone anyway. A mutated Kumiho loitering in front of café barely looked like they could afford the clothes on their back, much less the hot drink they sipped at. Moving past them, up to the front of the line, Korvo plunked a crown down onto the counter. “Coffee. Black. Iced.” The barista barely even flinched. Within a few moments, he had his fast-freezing drink in fast-freezing hand.
As he wandered away from the booth, and eased himself back into the crowd, he fell in step behind the Kumiho. The kid dressed like they were broke, but then again, so did he. He made a casual pass over the Kumiho's right pocket.
In the middle of the street, Jet came to a sudden stop. “Muridae?” he asked. “Oh, that is you.” Jet peered down at the girl from behind an armful of shopping. While he did not buy into (pun unintended) the festivities personally, he knew more than a few people who did.
“Feeding strays?” he asked, shuffling the bags in his arms. “A noble idea, but perpetuating the rising issue of abandoned familiars. You're better off calling animal control.”
Floofy. And Kind. And that's what it took to be cool? Bridget's ears flickered every which way as she considered this, the little bells tinkling up a storm. But they stilled and drooped immensely at the second bit Aisling mentioned. "Oh," she said softly, as her tail curled somewhat around her legs. "Is it... cuz you're a Hallow, too?" Her nose scrunched as she said this, wincing at some of the whispers and snickers she'd gotten from her... well. Floof. Just because of being someone born in October. Immediately though, she shoved the thoughts away, tail unwinding and poofing up considerably as a firm expression took over. "Well! I think you're really cool, too. What house are you in? You're in the Academy, right? I dunno if we have classes together but maybe we could meet up outside them?"
Because what better way to make a friend, than to step up and be someone another person can talk to if everyone else were being jerks?
Aisling directed them towards a booth, and Bridget ooo'd a few times at seeing people tossing rings onto the sticks. She didn't mind in the slightest that the other girl grabbed her hand, and indeed gave it a quick squeeze as they wandered towards the game. As Aisling tried her luck, Bridget cheered her on, giving a whoop and a "You got it!" when she landed the last ring. "That's so cute," she cooed when Aisling selected a Vespercat plush. "Congrats!"
When it was her turn to try, Bridget stepped up without hesitation, excited at the idea of getting a stuffed animal, too. And to her credit, she did try her best. Her aim though was... a wee bit off, it seemed. Each ring either bounced off or slid away from the stick she tried to hook it on, and when the final one proved a bust, she gave a great sigh at her misfortune. Though it wasn't all a loss, as the vendor offered her a selection of little trinkets to chose from as a consultation prize. It was here she grinned anew, selecting one and, with her back somewhat to Aisling to keep the surprise, slid it around her neck before turning around. "We match," she declared, an orange bulb necklace shining around her neck now.
This was actually one of his first times in a colder climate during the Solstice and winter festivals. And Rhin was regretting every second of it. The tall aquatic hybrid grumbled as he pulled his jacket and scarf tighter around him, his tail left exposed to the cold despite his best attempts. But he was told numerous times by his classmates to go join the festivities.
He'd be returning the horrible recommendation soon.
Yes, the lights and decorations were pretty, but he was having a hard time looking beyond the chill. The stocking he was given to keep any trinkets or prizes from games in was cute, yes, but it was crumpled slightly as he used it to help warm his gloved hands. As he began to pass one of the booths--a bookstore? Library?--he paused as his eyes caught on a cover a blonde-haired patron was quickly trying to stuff into her jacket. He couldn't resist. Rhin paused and offered, "It's a good series. First book is alright, bit rough in the writing, but the author improves over the course and into their other series. Especially with description."
Leaving that in the air, he selected a book himself that he knew was popular, though he'd not actually had the chance to read it yet. Good time to, really, especially if copies were being given out for free. Next to that booth was another vendor that was giving away stuffed animals, and Rhin couldn't help but grab a dark jellyfish. Immediately he held it up and gave a light snort as he peered at the pretty good replication of their odd bioluminescence down deep. "...okay that's kind of cute."
