Cherub by Embi-Lamb Opens: Now! Closes: December 31st, 11:59pm PST This year, like any other, the village of Asphodel Gardens is celebrating their annual Winter Solstice Masquerade in the Gardens Park! Games are practically littered throughout the grounds, and the sound of children squealing can be heard from quite a distance away. Plenty of juniors and seniors are trying their luck with festival games, while freshlings are being guided by caretakers through a winter wonderland. There is lots of dancing and music, but also plenty of places to get warm, snuggle up and have a couple of hot drinks to share with friends and loved ones.
How to play:
Every day you are allowed to roll for each of your Nightmares to receive a prize! You also can end up with a familiar if you're lucky. However, you must RP your character receiving their prize, or doing something in the festival when you roll in order to claim prizes. You can keep rolls in one post or in individual posts. Roll a 20-sided die per Nightmare you're including in the ORP! You may grab a trinket (one per Nightmare each day) by default, but if you roll...
A number ending in 3, 6, or 9 you may also grab a plushie. A number ending in 5 you may grab a familiar! A PERFECT 20 you can pick from the special prize pool! You can take both a cookie and one special familiar! At the end of the month there will be one grand prize. At that time the person with the most points will win the above Cherub! You must label in your posts how many points you have. If you don't you will not be counted for the grand prize. Do not delete posts. We will disqualify you from the chance to win the Nightmare's if you do! You may RP quests! If you lack a Nightmare you are allowed to RP an approved quest within this game! If you have more then one quest, you are permitted three quests to play in this game. You are encouraged to create creative situations of your character receiving a prize! Characters may trade prizes without losing points! Only take one prize per each roll! You MUST tally your own points, else you will be disqualified. Only one of your NM/DDs' rolls will count for points, so please identify which one that is.
Rules:
This contest is completely free. Please use the form provided. Anyone may enter, whether they are a newbie or not! Winning a prize from this event does count towards your event win limit. Keep in mind you are limited to winning one (1) kid in total from the Winter Solstice games! Staff may play and win familiars/trinkets, but are ineligible for the nightmare/daydream prizes. Whining, guilt-tripping, or generally misbehaving over the contest will result in you being disqualified. Make sure you've read the Guide to the Worlds forum in its entirety! You may not proxy for another person. You may not gift your prize away, and cannot re-home for the first 60 days.

ONLY IF YOU ROLL A TWENTY!
Wow, the Nine must be smiling upon you. Here, have a cookie! Hey -- wait! That familiar just ran off with your treat blessed by the Nine themselves!! After them!

Lunette was meeting up with Khensu at the winter festival she was very much looking forward to enjoying this event and playing some games. Shopping, enjoying the season. She sat down at a table and ordered a cup of hot coco and some cookies. She was waiting for Khensu to arrive when she noticed a flitterrat eating one of her cookies. "Well hello there." She said in a gentle tone and petted the familiars little head as it ate her cookie. Ama had just arrived at the festival, she decided not to grab a trinket for the moment and went to look around at other things, she wondered if her boys were here at the festival, it was hard to keep track of Shock and Scare at times. Wild little freshlings that they were. Caraway received a pretty flower cookie from an old purple and yellow imp who had kind eyes. Then her cookie was stolen by a familiar. "Hey come back.." Caraway cried out as she went to chase after the bunny. Sui looked around for Avalon and Ten, he didn't like crowds and he certainly didn't like them when he was on his own, he was a little nervous and frightened but he wanted to see what the festival was like. It would give him interesting things to write about if he could be brave enough. Enju looked around the festival trying to decide what he wanted to do, he wondered if any of his siblings would be at the festival. Daz looked around the winter festival he was very excited to be able to be here and enjoy the lights and decorations. The warm feeling of the holiday season it was his favorite time of the year. Coco looked around the festival shyly she had worked very hard on her life and how she felt about things but she was still a little shy about large crowds and lots of activity but she always pushed herself to do more, see more. Get out there and it had helped her art a great deal. Aurora smiled as she looked at the decorations around the festival it was so pretty and she couldn't decide what she wanted to do first. Archimedes quietly arrived at the festival he was more reserved about the things he did, but he thought he would be able to find inspiration for his wood carvings at the festival. Gwen was out to collect plushies she was a bit of a plushie addict and loved collecting them since she was a freshling. Point Tally: 20

Kean was excited. Finally, the Winter Solstice celebration was here! Though it was a masquerade, no one seemed to be following that theme as of yet. He grabbed a familiar-looking stocking and looked around to see what they had. Kean's Stuff: Jared felt a bit... odd here at the fairground. After all, it was the old Academy that he had graduated from and yet he felt a bit too old to be going back to it, even for some celebration. But, he had to come for an assignment, and to take notes and participate, so he grabbed a stocking and headed out. Jared's Stuff: Peri was... well he was as grumpy as he usually was. His sister as of yet hadn't come, and so he had been left here, alone, looking like some sort of fuzzy bunny monstrosity in the jacket that he was currently wearing. He couldn't help it though, he didn't like the cold air! But he wasn't about to leave without getting anything, and so he grabbed a stocking and headed off to see if he could get a plush or two. Lunette finished her hot cocoa then she got up and she went to look for a game to play while she was waiting for Khensu to arrive. She found a game of ring the tree. She picked up her first ring of three and weighted it in her hands it felt a little top heavy and sparkled with little stars on it. She threw the rings and won a prize. She smiled as she picked out a purple plushie and petted the familiar on her shoulder. Ama had no reason to collect plushies for herself but she did decide to grab plushies for her sons, she figured she would collect from now from this dart game and then try to win another for Shock. Caraway looked around trying to decide what she wanted to do, she started to make her way to the bookshop to look for some new books to read. Sui sat down at a table to wait for Avalon and Ten to arrive at the festival he really didn't want to do anything by himself. Enju looked around unsure what he wanted to do next he looked around the different games trying to decide.

This whole thing had started out as a bit of a comedy of errors. His alarm had failed to go off so khensu had been a little late to get started. Then of course the battery on his phone died so he couldn't really call lunette to explain the problem. Now he might have made it relatively on time from all his running but the second he stopped to catch his breath, a bunch of festive old ladies had tried to put a reindeer headband on him. So more time was talked into giving him the jingle earrings instead, which he then had to put on. Well at least they were silver. Eventually he did spot lunette and made his way over. " sorry I am late" khensu managed to get out from his heavy breathing. The bells lightly jingled when he moved. [ Alto rubbed his arms and looked out at the festival. He never really had any one special to go to but he tended to meet interesting people and well it was a way to get out of his hotel room. He could have dragged Hermes he supposed but his snarky friend was to absorbed in catching up with his homework. Unfortunately it had gotten a bit colder than expected and alto had kind of given away his jacket to some poor nightmare that looked positively miserable. Yep, way colder than expected. However his shivering must have caused sympathy because a little skyfish floated over and swam around his head nibbling at his ear in comfort. qamra looked around and frowned. Some how she had gotten separated from her parents but the area was pretty safe so she wasn’t worried about any nefarious people. Besides there were so many fun things to see, such as people being silly, bright glittery things and cute plushies. Speaking of cute plushies it looked like some where hidden in weird locations and qamra pulled one out to look it over. It definitely needed to go home with her and be loved, yep. Ceres was on a mission. It was the first Christmas he actually had spending money and he quite planned on going out and buying his parents and Anubis a present. Sure he wasn’t technically related to his other mom or Anubis but they were family non the less. Only problem was he wasn’t really a social hybrid and this was too many happy energetic people. They had every right to feel this way but he much preferred his family and the occasional friend. Crowds just overwhelmed him. Still he was on a mission. He would survive that long, he just had to. It was here he passed by a stand selling bracelets. Anubis would definitely like the colors and the goblin hybrid was kind of hard to find presents for. Sitri sat on the bench and lightly drummed her fingers on her leg. She was supposed to meet some one here but it looked like they weren’t showing. Then again her dad had warned her something might come up. Christmas weirdly enough was a busy time for her parent. Still going around the festival by herself wasn’t going to be that exciting. Maybe she could make a new friend. Maybe her dad actually would come. She wasn’t quite ready to give the bench up yet.

Victoria smiled because she loves this holiday and the festival. Victoria walked around enjoying watching everyone play game. Then she noticed that there was a event with familiars as prizes. She hasn't had a familiar yet and she thought this would be the best time to receive one. She walked over to the stand to see what kind of game this and it was a shooting game. She wasn't very happy because she didn't like violence and this was the only way to receive a familiar. She grabbed the gun and she started shaking. The person that was running the stand looked at her and told her it was ok. She closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. Then she heard someone yell congratulations. She opened her eyes and she knocked down the pin. Then the Nightmare that was running the stand took her to the back to pick her familiar. She looked at all of the beautiful familiars and was having trouble deciding. Till she heard a loud noise coming from the flitterrats. She Smiled and said I'll take one of them. She picked at blue one that just looked so delicious that should eat it. She smaller her new friend and it had a peppermint sent. She looked at her new friend and smiled " I will call you Mint."

Aisling shuffled around, dragging her white plushie on the snowy ground behind her. She had to stand on her tiptoes to see over many of the game counters. Some had familiars on the other side of the counter and she stared with round eyes at all of them. She had a friend back in her dorm, a green Pumpka, who she called Pooka, but she couldn't help staring wistfully at the fuzzy or flying familiars.
She wasn't sure if she could play any of those games, though, so she shuffled off to take one of the trinkets some of the adults were handing out. One in particular was a necklace that glowed, just like her eyes did. She placed it over her head and stared at the glowing crimson light with a shy little smile. She may not have been able to get a familiar, but she knew that Pooka would keep her company in the meantime and that this would bring her enough cheer in the meantime.

Winter Festival! The small furred girl was slightly jumping with each step, gleeing at the sights around the grounds. The lights, the ornaments, people running this way and that, games...! It was amazing! Her paws skidded slightly in the snow, and she gave a trill of a laugh.
So much to do so much to do! Her tail flicked and shook behind her, ears swivelling this way and that. Where to start? A group of adults were handing out little trinkets--and stockings to keep stuff in!--so Bridget scurried over to where they were, happily accepting an orange stocking and... oh! "Those, please!" She pointed carefully to the small bell earrings on the tray one lady offered towards her. Merrily, she took them as the woman handed them over gently, pausing to get them into place on her tall ears. With each flick and twitch, the bells chimed out, bright and perfect for the season.
Her delight was enough that Bridget almost bumped into another kid, though she stopped short with a small, "oh oops!" Brown eyes were wide as they took in the other's dark appearance--and three glowing eyes! And so many wings... "I like your bulb necklace," she said instead of focusing on the other's fascinating appearance--another Hallow, like her!

"It'll be fun," Kaden laughed, grinning towards Glacier as they approached the Winter Festival. Their hand was wrapped around the Bakeneko's, a contact that Kaden found to be almost natural and casual in its comfort. "I went to the Hallows festival, and there weren't any creepy things there. No wickerbears present, either," they added with an unavoidable tease. Speaking of, the Geist paused glanced back towards the way they'd come, curious if they'd see a hint of glowing eyes from off in the shadows.
Kaden had at least discovered their new companion was nothing if not consistent in his intent to keep a fast watch of them. Not that Kaden necessarily minded the knowledge of having a large skull-bear on call if anything were to, the Nine forbid, actually happen but...
People at one of the entrances were handing out stockings--to keep prizes in!--and Kaden grinned, selecting a purple and pink one. They held it up towards their face and looked to Glacier. "Matches, right?"
A bit further in, a vendor offered warm mugs of hot cider, and immediately they selected a cup with care. "Do you want one?" Immediately white eyes turned to Glacier, offering the cup over--in which case Kaden would just grab up another one for themself.

That he was back in another bustling, crazy festival was... well. Interesting, poetic. It'd been the previous Hallows festival after all that had inspired the train of events that lead to his adoption of Tatiana. Once again, Reina was taking the lead, ushering the two of them into the village alit with seasonal lights and treats and colors. Each of them were given a stocking to carry their goodies in, and Orion didn't object even if he eyed the one the children insisted on him keeping. "Well? Where should we go first?" It felt odd in a way to let a child direct him but... given the fun and harmless nature of the event...
But his eyes caught on a table set up by a librarian, and he ushered them there first. "Each of you select one. I mean it--Reina don't make that face," he chided, selecting a book himself that he thought might be interesting, in terms of how they instructed children on the matter of 'dark alchemy.'
Reina did make a face, as reading wasn't... entirely her favorite thing. Beside her, Tatiana giggled, selecting her own book without complaint and stuck it in her stocking. The Grimm took a while longer, as none really jumped out at her right away.... though she eyed the one called, The Halfling. Wasn't there a big thing about that? Curious, she grabbed it.
"Ok, now that that's over," she said, ignoring scowl from both Orion and the librarian, she scanned the other booths and a smile grew as she spotted one carrying an arrange of plushies. "Oh! One second!" Tail wagging, she ran off towards it, quickly spotting two that were perfect and brought them back, immediately shoving them into Tatiana and Orion's stockings respectively. "Those are good for you two!"
If Orion noticed that Reina hadn't gotten one for herself, he didn't comment on it.
Tatiana hadn't been to a big festival yet. When Reina had lept about the house talking about it, she'd been immediately curious, though aware that Orion might not be willing to attend due to his classwork and finals. Still, he'd agreed, and well... here they were!
She wasn't quite as willing to bolt and explore as Reina, but the Hallow stopped every now and then to gawk and stare in wonder at the various decorations set around the grounds. It was so... so pretty! "Thanks for bringing us," she whispered to Orion, after grabbing his attention by tugging on his sleeve. Reina had run off in this time, and Tatiana blinked, lingering beside Orion as the Grimm soon returned with two stuffed animals clutched in her paws, grinning all the while. Pale tri-eyes were wide as she watched a jackalope plushy be shoved into her stocking, it's soft horned head poking out the top. In Orion's stocking, a starry jelly hung out, perfectly matching his appearance. "Thank you," she giggled, giving her sort of sister a half-hug that lingered as they then tried to decide where they all would next wander.

Aisling turned when she heard a small exclamation nearby her and all three of her eyes became round as saucers when she saw the girl standing behind her. One of her hands came up to her mouth to stifle a gasp of delight. So much floof.
"I like your... everything." She mumbled, lowering her hand from her mouth to her necklace and she smiled. She found herself staring at the stocking the girl had. "Where did you get that?" She asked, curious. "It's really cute." It looked fuzzy and Aisling had a thing for fuzzy. Though, she soon thought, nothing could ever be as fuzzy as the girl in front of her.
