Morrow was born into poverty. She never got along much with her two older sisters, but she always attributed their cruelty to their circumstances. Even when she was still very young, Morrow possessed more wisdom than those around her. She cared very much for her family, and resolved to save them from their flight.
When she was fifteen, Morrow found her first job in a jewellery store. Though legally too young to work, she had always looked and acted older than she was and no one questioned her when she lied about her age. For a while, she brought in steady income. The money she earned was not much, but it did help to relieve some pressure from her family.
After about a year of working, Morrow experienced her first hold up. A gang of criminals entered during her shift, put disabled the security, stole all the floor merchandise, and cleared out within fifteen minutes. Unwilling to let such a thing pass, Morrow tracked them down to retrieve the stolen goods. She managed to infiltrate their hideout, but got caught at the last minute. Morrow saved herself with some quick thinking and they only knocked her out instead of killing her.
Even if she escaped with her life, her troubles did not end there. Her employers determined that the criminals had inside help and performed thorough background checks. During this time they discovered Morrow's age and she was immediately terminated. In the meantime, her family's position was growing increasingly precarious. Jobless and desperate, Morrow sought out other means of income. With a little luck and a lot of perseverance, she tracked down her thieves again. This time however, she came prepared. She offered them a deal: they gave her a cut from their earnings or she turned them in. They accepted.
It was the beginning of a relationship. In time, Morrow was accepted into their fold and they trained her in the ways of thievery. With a natural aptitude for stealth, and an almost bizarre power to blend into the background (many joked she was too boring to be noticeable), she quickly became one of their best burglars. As to her family, she lied and explained that her old job had taken her back and given her promotion.
For three years, Morrow ran with her band of thieves and to her they became like a second family. They made easy money and were never caught. If there was one thing Morrow learnt from her experiences though, it was that a good thing never lasts for long. Trouble began again when another gang began to spread its reach into their territory. Suddenly, they had competition. Violence began to break out between the two factions. Fights became common place. Police began to make more arrests. Then someone was killed.
It erupted into all out war. Morrow tried to stay on the sidelines, but that became increasingly impossible. The conflict came to a head one day when both leaders tried to negotiate a peace treaty. It ended in a blood bath, and the leader of Morrow's gang was dealt a mortal wound. Morrow saved him from the battle site but not soon enough to get him help. Before he passed, he left her and some of the others with her instructions on how to carry on.
By his orders the gang was disbanded. Belongings and wealth were distributed between members, with Morrow receiving the title to one of his hideouts, an old manor. From there, all members went into hiding, to lay low until things cooled down. In an attempt to resume a normal life, Morrow applied to go to university. She distracted herself by looking for normal jobs, and settled into a career as a social worker, reaching out to help those in need. It was not long though before she became frustrated with society's power imbalance.
About a year after Morrow's secession from crime, she broke into a house on a petty whim. Her skills were rusty, and she was nearly caught, but she escaped without being identified. The experience left her rattled. She ended up giving away the money she earned from the job, thinking that would be the last of it, but later had a realisation. While she could not bring herself to steal for her own benefit, she could steal for justice, redistributing wealth among the needy.
Soon Morrow was reliving the world of her past life. With more experience and more wisdom than before, she made a master thief, but only ever stealing only from those who could afford it. She abstained from violence, using sleeping agents to disable any who obstructed her path. Newspapers and law enforcement took to calling her "Rift" for the portals she used to get in and out. And once again the doors to her manor opened as a crossroads, a safe haven for those on the wrong side of the law.

Law student. Very active in debate. Savvy in legal and political matters. Smart but unfortunately also a slimeball. Frat boy. Loves to party. Drinks all around. Comes from money. Probably hasn't suffered a day in his life. Got the looks, the money, and the talent. Bring the hate. Puts on airs. Looks down on how dumb everyone else is. Enjoys outsmarting people. Junior ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Jet comes from a wealthy, upper class family. His father is a politician and his mother is a successful lawyer. Though groomed to inherit, he has little interest in politics. He has instead taken after his mother in pursuit of a career in justice. With his family placing high expectations on him, he of course graduated the academy as a valedictorian. Now that he has a little more freedom and lives in the university dorms, he spends most of his days and nights partying. He occasionally bribes teachers to overlook missed assignments and skipped classes.
Chaos incarnate. The world seems to bend around him. Has the self control of a child. Somewhat manic. Upbeat. Complete lack of empathy. Will do anything "as long as it's fun". Frightening lack of morals. Easily manipulated. Goes to college but no one has ever seen him in classes. Many have speculated that he lives there.
Reclusive. Polite, but does not talk much. Tends to keep hir thoughts and opinions to hirself. Even so, always smiling. Prone to day dreaming. Often lost within hir own world. Distant from family. In general removed from any kind of emotional connection.
Exceptionally talented with ice magic. While sie cannot create large or powerful spells, sie has finesse that takes others years to achieve. Often sie uses it for hir own amusement. Most times sie is responsible for entertaining hirself. Enjoys going on walks across the mountainside. Likes the wilderness and the beauty it offers. Always returns home in time for supper.
Experience with other species of nightmares and daydreams is limited. Sie lives enough in isolation that strangers are a rarity. Whenever one comes through sie is ushered to hir room by hir mother and grandmother and instructed not to leave. Naturally, sie is very curious about these strangers. Sometimes sie tries to eavesdrop on the conversation, but hir door is always looked from the outside. Lately, sie has taken to sneaking out at night.
Freshling ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Generations ago, Siachen's ancestors were banished from their village into the mountains. They have since lived out their days among the mountain countryside, content to live cut off from the world. They are for the most part self-sufficient. They grow and raise all their own food, weave their own clothes, and tend to anything else they might need either through magic or by making use of what the land gives them. If they must have something that they cannot provide themselves, they send for a courier.
Given their history, they are wary of strangers, especially those of other races. Travellers on the mountain are not uncommon, and should one require assistance or a place to sleep, they will provide for them. However as soon as the stranger is able, Siachen's family will send them on their way. They do not associate with outsiders.
Siachen lives with hir mother and grandmother. Hir grandmother possesses the same affinity for ice magic, and guides Siachen's powers. She has fallen into poor health of late however and cannot teach Siachen anything. In the meantime, Siachen's mother has her hands full trying to care for her as well as her child.
More trusting and open-minded than many sluagh. Peaceful. Meditative. Never swift to action. Thoughtful. Curious. Fascinated by the customs of many other species, particularly those of the Below. Does not worship the nine divines but believes that a greater power may guide the universe. Optimistic. Trusts that eventually things will work themselves out. Has faith in the intentions of others. Forgiving. Perhaps a little naive in that regard. Takes things in stride with a sense of humour. Gentle but firm when he needs to be. While trusting, Elpis is respectful of his people's ways. He remains reserved about sluagh culture, as he believes it is not his place to divulge information. He is very open with his personal life however. Practises yoga and meditation.
