Going To See Daddy
Traveling with her mother was one of the things that Fui Fui loved doing the most. The woman was an amazing person, an inspiration, and the one that she so wanted to be like when she got older. It was going to take a lot of work on her part but the more that she traveled with her mother, the more she practiced her singing, the more that she felt she'd be able to do it one day.
Now wasn't a day for travel though. In fact for the time being traveling was over for a bit. The last thing that they'd done was get some tasty meat from various deep sea beasts from a merchant. The meat was a gift that they were presently on their way to bring to Fui Fui's father, something that she was super excited about. It felt as though it had been far, far too long since she'd seen her father and she was very much looking forward to spending time with him. How much time she'd be spending with him was sort of up to her father though.
Her mother was considering traveling up the now open river so she could visit the fresh water villages. She wanted to try plying her trade there but she wasn't sure about bringing Fui Fui along with her on the first go at it. As such that meant that she might be staying with her father while her mother went on her trip. If that were teh case that meant spending a lot of time with the man, something that excited her.
"I hope that he's alright with me staying." She said, looking up at her mother who was swimming just a little bit ahead of her. A part of her wanted to suggest to her mother that she should stay a little while with them. It wasn't as though her father's love of Hau'oli was any sort of secret after all. She didn't want to push it though, not wanting to make her mother uncomfortable. She knew that her father had stopped hassling her about staying with a while ago according to the man. He loved Hau'oli but Hau'oli loved being free, which was something he loved about the woman. As such he seemed to always just be waiting, just in case.
It was romantic and a little bit sad if you asked Fui Fui. It was something that had her determined to either find someone to be serious with in the future only, maybe someone that would travel with her when she traveled, or maybe stay single without ending up with one particular man pining after her. At least her father never seemed overly heart broken or anything over it, proving that he was a very strong person she thought to herself.
Desite everything she asked of her mother, "Will you be staying long? Or just long enough to talk to Dad about keeping me for a while?" She wouldn't try to talk her into staying but she would still ask since she was curious about what her mother was planning to do. Did she mean to leave straight away? Was she going to stick around for a meal? Her father made the best food that she'd ever had! It was a biased thought but she'd easily admit to that.
Hau'oli seemed to consider her daughter's question for a moment, tapping the tip of her index finger against her lips before she said, "I think that I will at least sit down for a meal with him. It's easier to talk with him over food then it is just standing around. Especially when he gets himself distracted with his work. You know how he can be." When her father was working he tended to go into his own world, deep into his planning, into his knife work, into everything that it took to make an amazing meal. It meant that there were times when Fui Fui stood there next to him, watching him work, and it took him some time to even realize that she was hovering about. Something she enjoyed doing when he gave a jump, looking startled over her 'sudden appearance'.
Giving a smile she said, "I think it will be fun. We don't get to eat a meal as a family too often." It was either Fui Fui with her mother or Fui Fui with her father. The three of them eating together wasn't something that happened a lot so she was instantly looking forward to it. Giving a thoughtful sound she asked, "Do you think he will make the meal out of the stuff we are bringing him? Or do you think he's going to want to experiment with it a bit first?"
"I'm sure that he will want to try it out first before he let's anyone that isn't himself eat it. He will want to figure out a few recipes before he lets anyone, especially us, try it out." She said with a bit of a smile. The man was the sort that didn't like doing anything halfway when it came to his cooking. As such he wouldn't just take a new type of meat and serve it up day one. Smiling she said, "Given time he will serve something wonderful with it... though he might end up having to buy a ton of the stuff off the Moakai merchants and butchers before he's happy with what he's come up with."
Fui Fui nodded her head and said while clapping her hands in delight, "Yeah, you're probably right. Come on! Let's get it to him so that he can start his experimenting right away!" She knew that they wouldn't get to enjoy the deep sea fish any time soon but she was still excited about it. Especially if she ended up staying with her father. If that happened then she would be able to watched him as he worked, something that she was greatly looking forward to.
"If dad let's me stay with him I'm going to be so happy to get to watch him work with the new kinds of meat! I bet he's going to be surprised and excited! It's not very often that he gets such gifts, I bet." Who else would think to bring the man a delivery of rare, deep sea meat after all? Her fin ears set to bouncing at just the thought of getting to see the delight written on her father's face.
Giving a squeaking sound all of a sudden she pointed and said, "Momma, Momma, look! It's there! It's dad's place! We're almost there! Can I go ahead?" She gazed up at her mother with a hopeful look on her face.
"Of course, just make sure not to bump into anyone if there are others waiting for food." She warned her daughter, smiling as she went racing ahead to cover the space between where she was and where Liama was likely plying his trade. She gave a little sighing sound as she watched Fui Fui disappear inside. Once the girl was out of sight Hau'oli sped up, not wanting to be left behind by Fui Fui, nor did she want to leave the excitable girl on her own just in cause Liama wasn't in.
Once inside Fui Fui's golden eyes set to scanning everyone in the room. It was the part where people waited for their food to be made, not where her father was going to be though. If he was anywhere it would be in the back, working on preparing food. She hurried forward, dodging and weaving around people, making sure not to bump anyone just as her mother had asked her to do. She would be careful, make sure not to knock anything or anyone over, and she'd get to the door that went into the back.
Once there she pushed the door open, looking around, before she hurried inside. There he was, there was her father! Giving a squealing sound of excitement she threw herself into his back, "Daddy! I'm here!" She squealed, hugging onto the man tightly, snuggling against him.
Liama turned slowly, his eyes meeting those that matched his own, before a smile spread across his lips, "My little Fui Fui, how long has it been? Let me get a look at you? My, my but you're getting big." He said, wrapping his arms around her, hugging her tightly. It had been far too long and he was glad to see her again.
Once he eased up on the hug he looked around and then asked, "Surely... surely you didn't come alone? Your mother?" He knew that the woman wouldn't leave her alone, nor would she just drop her off without a word, meaning that she was around somewhere.
"She's on her way! She's going to stay for a meal so the three of us can eat together. Doesn't that sound fun, Daddy?" She said, knowing that he'd be happy with such news. The man seemed happy already if the smile on his face was any indication. Sliding away from him she caught hold of his hands, "Come on! We have a present for you too, one that I know that you will love. Come on, Daddy! Let's go meet up with Momma!" She gave a tug on his hands, leading him toward where she'd left her mother behind, eager to get the family all together so that they could plan the meal that they'd be sharing.
