x x x x● Kestrel hopes to one day return the Varsythe to their former glory, to reunite the Shattered Pack. He realizes that this is a nigh-impossible task he has set himself, but feels that it is his duty to at least try.
x x x x● Ideally, he'd like to settle down and find a Lifemate, have a litter and worry about nothing more than surviving the next season. Realistically, though, Kestrel knows that his position among the Vurfang puts him -- and any he cares for -- in danger from the Vileclaw, and what lurks within his own mind.
x x x x● If he could, he would find a way to expel the creature that sleeps within him, despite its power. It makes him wary, and a life without always second-guessing his decisions and being sane and at peace seems like perfection to Kestrel.

x x x x● Kes is absolutely terrified of the world spiraling into Chaos. He fears that should he fail to find the White Alpha, the Vileclaw will succeed in bringing about the Second Coming of the Outcast, who won't look kindly upon the Vurfang.
x x x x● Despite having a good Pack, Kestrel is afraid of being alone. He knows that he has many loyal to him, but he years for something more than just the ties of Pack...but he dares not hope.
x x x x● He fears that he will lose himself to the being within him; something thrives within his breast, and it yearns for Kestrel to spill blood constantly. As such, he must remain vigilant, and he is always teetering precariously on the edge of half-madness.

xxx Because of his lineage, Kestrel bears the Mark of the Alpha: a birthmark in black over his left eye. And while it grants him power, it comes also with a price: Kestrel's mind is not his own. There is something buried deep within him, and though he tries to keep it hidden, he's been seen to go into a sort of seizure. When this occurs, all know to stay away, for the sentient thing inside of him is trying to claw its way out. Kestrel knows he has a duty to see the return of the Alpha, but cannot imagine seeking him until he is in control of his own mind.

xxx Kestrel is by no means sane. Because of his lineage, within his mind is an entity that is barely held in check; one that constantly rages against Kes, trying to pull him into the recesses of his own head. He occasionally becomes lost within heaving, raging hallucinations composed of nothing save for madness and frenzied psychosis, and it's a constant fight when this happens to be aware of his surroundings. As such, Kes relies heavily on his Pack to ensure his safety while he's consumed by his Darkness, as they call it.
☽x P ᴏ ᴡ ᴇ ʀx☾
xxx Being he has the blood of a God coursing through his veins, Kestrel has an immeasurable store of latent power that he can draw on at any time. But because of not only the Being within, but his nature, he refuses to do so unless there's a life in danger. He doesn't want any outside of his closest confidants to know the extent of his strength, nor of his close connection to the White Alpha and the Varsythe Ancestors.
☽x L ᴏ ʏ ᴀ ʟ ᴛ ʏx☾
xxx Kestrel is fiercely loyal to those who have earned his trust. However, he prefers to stay away from most Varsythe, and when he meets someone for the first time, he's generally standoffish and aloof. Strangers make him nervous, as he's slow to trust, and calculating the threat they may pose to his Pack is always forefront in his mind. However, he can be quite intimate with the very few he does have faith in. He is emotionally intimate with those he knows. He might always be in a constant state of physical contact: shoulder touching shoulder, tail draped over a back, or something of the sort. Most often, though, it is one of vocal intimacy. He speaks to those he trusts as if they are the only person in the world, as if they are the sole being that exists for him, which make it far easier for him to manipulate them -- though he despises doing so -- in the future if a dire need arises.

xxx Kes is very loyal to those who earn his trust. However, he does not ally himself with those who do not benefit him. He will remain by someone's side, protecting them, catering to them, and assisting them for as long as he sees fit as long as they are loyal to him in return. But if one becomes his enemy, his is cruel, cunning, and completely ruthless. Kestrel has wariness, a deep-seated skepticism and mistrust ingrained within him -- likely because of his ancestry, though even he himself is unsure of the root cause. Regardless, to be accepted into the Alpha's inner circle is an honor, and to break a promise to him is known to incite his full wrath, which is a terrifying thing to be subjected to.

xxx Since Kestrel roamed among the Vurfang for years, learning the Packs, their traditions and ways of life, he has gained knowledge that most Alphas are only beginning to find. As he has the blood of the ancestors, Kestrel feels he must do all he can to help others, because he has vital knowledge that might be lacking -- and that could be the difference between their life and death |

xxx Because Kes has the Blood of the Alpha, he has the power to Soulgaze with another sentient being. He can only enter a Soulgaze with another Varsythe. When a Soulgaze is initiated, Kestrel can see into the heart and soul of another being...But they can also see inside of him. Every hidden secret, every aspiration, every fear will be known to each other. This could be a great benefit or a terrible weakness depending on the being with whom he Soulgazed. Unless Kes consciously has his mental walls up, if he locks gazes with another for longer than seven seconds, a Soulgaze will begin. And this can be disastrous, as the raging, heaving madness within his mind can leak out, and subjecting another to the hallucinations through a Soulgaze held too long is abhorrent to Kestrel.
However, once he has Soulgazed with someone, unless the core of who they are drastically changes, then even if he locks gazes for a full minute with them, a Soulgaze will not repeat itself.
☽x F ᴏ ʀ ᴇ s ɪ ɢ ʜ ᴛx☾
xxx As Kestrel is not only a partial God, but also a Shaman, he's gifted with the skill of Foresight -- meaning that he can on rare occasions see what might come to pass in the future. However, these occurrences are quite rare, and the information that he can interpret is fuzzy at best. The future can always be changed, and if something he sees is devastating, the very choice he and his Pack make might cause it to end up that way. Because foretelling the future is so hit-and-miss, generally Kestrel will relate to his Pack -- and possibly other Vurfang -- what he has learned, and they only take caution, not make decisions solely on what Kes has seen. If a terrible, tragic event is witnessed, Kestrel will call a council of Shamans, sending out summons to others Packs, so that they might all convene and compare visions, and try to determine the best course of action.
☽x T ʜ ᴇ _ ᴄ ᴀ ʟ ʟx☾
xxx The Call is an inflection of voice, a special tone, that commands others to do something by putting a magical Compulsion into their mind. It is subtle and covert, as most believe that to follow its suggestion had been their own idea. Kestrel employs this power very rarely, as he has moral reservations about it; free will to him is held above all else. However, sometimes he will use it subconsciously in moments of fear, anger, or another strong emotion without intending to. While the Call is not absolute, most Varsythe hear it and will obey. Kestrel has told only a select two or three Pack members about this skill, as he doesn't wish for it to become common knowledge.

xxx The Alpha's first Pack was almost entirely killed off, with the exception of a single Varsythe some fifty years past. Since then, Kestrel promised himself that never again would he lead, nor make any strong bonds with Varsythe, for the grieving of his family and friends nearly killed him. His ancestry gifted -- or cursed -- him with a long life, and he had meant to keep his promise.
But when he first met Riptide, who was near-fatally injured from being mauled by Vileclaw, he entertained the thought of leading once again. He knew that because of the strife between the Vur and Vile, there were countless of Packless wolves that needed the safety, stability, and protection an Alpha of his caliber could offer. Even though he balked at the idea, Riptide began following him around, hunting with him, watching his back, until he finally turned into a Guardian, and Kestrel found himself an Alpha once more.
Now, a year later, multiple Varsythe have taken an interest in Howlsong: they have prime Territory, near sea, stream, lake, field, forest, and hill. Game is plenty in Howlshire Meadow, and Kestrel is easily able to defend it from encroaches from the North because of the Mark and the powers it grants him. More Soon.

xxx Southern Howlshire Meadow:: Howlsong's territory ranges from the Northern edge of the Lunaris Forest to the Eastern shore of the lake in Haven Plains. The river that halves Howlshire Meadow is usually where their Territory ends, unless there are one or two Vileclaw Packs along the southern edge of the Lothium Woods. In that case, Kestrel ranges farther North in order to ensure not only his Pack's safety, but the rest of the Vurfang in the Southlands.

x x x x● Rainclaw:: Weary and wounded, Kestrel was making his way through Lunaris Forest after a run-in with a Vileclaw Pack. Seeing him wounded, Rainclaw approached him and offered to help him tend to his wounds, as he could not reach them himself. Thankful for the aid, Kes gratefully accepted, and after getting to know her, invited Rain to join Howlsong Pack.
x x x x● Tuuluuwaq:: Out patrolling one day, Kestrel comes upon a young Pup hunting leaves by himself. He decides to go speak to him, and the young male immediately recognizes Kes for who and what he is. The Alpha asks about the Pup's Pack, and realizing he has none, asks if Tuu would like to join Howlsong. ]

x x x x● Sephra:: Kestrel smells the scent of a newcomer on the wind, and makes haste towards Lunaris Forest to face the threat. He comes upon an Alpha female sleeping, and the two begin to speak.
