Meeting the Water Monsters
Issaly Solo

Issaly sighed as he leaned back from his most recent lesson with his mentor. The elderly shifter who had taken him under their wing wasn’t exactly strict. The youth would of taken a strict teacher at this point, instead of this laid back...he groaned. Slug. Not that he could really complain, the pace allowed him to fully absorb all his teacher had to offer. He glanced down to the journal his mentor gave him...the first half was all the known herbs and medicinal plants around Jauhar. The elderly teacher had admitted that they were scared to leave that which was familiar to them. So, the rest of the journal was for Issaly to fill in. He stopped then looked at the sprite that was a gift, the pale blue critter tilted its head at him while fluttering in front of the youth’s face. He chuckled.

“Therus...you silly little thing. Come on, shoulder.” He said as he patted his shoulder. There was a special pad that was the perfect perch for the little thing. He hummed as he walked along. Minding his own as he did so. He knew a few shady characters had popped up lately. He was worried, the youth was hearing rumors of cage fighting between beasts found all the way out in Matori. His Mentor had to patch up a few people caught up in helping an escaped beast back to the ‘owners’. Issaly felt his blood go cold. An Owner wasn’t a good thing, they typically dominated their property on a regular basis. They weren’t kind...they weren’t protective. Issaly stopped in his tracks with a huff. He didn’t have a good mindset with all that negative meaning behind a simple word.

It struck him as odd that one simple word could have so many meanings. For some...who were into a weird play of roles, from what his Mentor explained, ‘Owner’ ‘Master’ and the like had. Deeper meanings. Perhaps for some it was a sign of trust. For others...it was the word that opened a door to a never ending nightmare. The youth couldn’t help his sigh for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. He was just thinking round and round in circles now. He sighed thinking about what he was going to do with himself. That was when Therus bolted up in the air. The sprite seemed to tilt his head to listen to something.

Issaly froze as he watched the small creature. “Therus...what---? THERUS GET BACK HERE!!!!” he jumped into the outcry as the sprite took off down an alley. Issaly sprinted off after him, pulling his shawl around his shoulders as he did so. Looking around as he came to a four way split in the alleys he felt like he was in another world entirely. “Impressive...Therus...this is no time---HEY I’M TALKING TO YOU!!!” he flowed into the shout as the sprite. Who had been in his sights. Sped off down a path.

Issaly groaned as he took off after the creature...again.

He really needed to talk to Therus about all this flying off. Sighing he followed the sprite. Glad to see that Therus would stop to look back for him before taking off again. Issaly was equal parts curious...and equal parts worried. He had no idea where he was now. He doubted Therus would remember either. Rolling his eyes the youth stopped as he spotted Therus just sitting there watching something. Issaly walked to stand under the sprite, looking in front of himself. He jumped at the sight of a boarded off doorway. He peeked around and between the planks to see something that made his blood turn to ice.

Sitting in a cage that looked as if it was getting too small for it was a large reptile. Collared next to it was a paddle tailed beast. Issaly felt his heart break. The two looked miserable as he heard voices. He flinched and made to hid but realized he already was. Mentally smacking himself he kept silent as he heard the voices clearly.

“So...what should we do to them?” a raspy voice asked.

“The blasted snaptrotter didn’t win the fight it was suppose to.” a whiny voice complained.

“The Zanteer kept herding the others away from the cage opening...that one’s going to be trouble to the business.” a nasally voice interjected.

Issaly pursed his lips together as he debated what to do. Seeing the three show themselves he saw someone he knew waking silently behind them. His Mercenary Uncle’s band had a few younger members, the silent hybrid was one of them. The youth was a shifter/oban born in the midst of the war, both his parents were travelers so it was a given that he was displaced most of his childhood. Issaly looked for how to get out of the alley. Seeing a crack in the edge of a board. He took a deep breath.

Reaching out he tapped it and leaped back with a loud squeak as the whole thing came down. He stood there with his shawl wrapped tightly around him blinking in muted shock. Then when he heard a sound of one of the males clearing their throat he looked up.

“Can we help you, Miss?” the raspy voice asked. The other two were openly leering at him. Issaly flushed before he stepped out into view. Moving to lower his arms to glare he huffed.

“Male.” he growled out before he glanced to the two beasts. “I got lost in the alley’s...I overheard you three. I want to know what their fates are.” he said with about as much backbone as their distance could muster.

When one of the two stepped closer. The hybrid and three others that Issaly didn’t see, leaped between them and the rookie healer. Issaly blinked. The three merchants jumped a little back. The whiny voice resounded. “What are you four doing? You were hired by us.”

The hybrid spoke. His voice deep. “We can’t let you intimidate Astraio’s youngest nephew.”

The three males froze. Issaly peeked around to see them really pale. The nasally voice spoke. “No lie?”

The hybrid nodded. The three men looked at one another before raspy asked. “Dear child, did you want these two? We were going to cut our losses and...well…”

“Kill them.” Issaly finished seeing one had a blade. The small male walked forward. “Yes...I want them.”

The two beasts blinked as the three males walked to them. The large reptile, Issaly remembered they called it a Snaptrotter, backed up as far as it could into the cage. Issaly cleared his throat. “Move…” the male move and the slender youth crouched in front of the cage. “Hi there...come on out. I’m taking you to a safe place.” he smiled at the beats. Waiting patiently as after a few minutes the beast slowly started to come out. The small male slowly backed out as the large reptile followed the outstretched hand. Once it was able to fully stretch out, Issaly blinked in shock. It...was huge. He hummed. “Wow…”

The small male reached out to gently take off the muzzle and tight harness that the beast seemed to be in. Taking off his shawl, Issaly put it on the beast's back. Making sure it was warm. Looking down he knelt to help the Zanteer out of its collar. Once that task was done the youth stood back up. Shooting a glare at the trio he huffed. “The way you treat the creatures that helped us shape our society...absolutely disgusting. Whatever pride you find in this...I hope the deities don’t find time to punish you for mistreatment of their beasts.”

Issaly was happy when the two seemed to follow him readily. What he didn’t see was Therus fluttering above his head giving the two non-verbal directions. Everyone else did but no one felt the urge to comment. As Issaly walked out he waved to the young warriors. Guiding the duo down lesser used paths to avoid any potential freak outs. Once they got to his Teacher’s home he blinked. Why did he bring them here? Oh...that’s right...his Teacher had a book on known beast’s...perhaps these two were in it. He also didn’t think the Radaku’s back home would take too kindly to something bigger than them.

After the whirlwind that was his Teacher fretting over the two beast’s Issaly chuckled when the two flopped side by side in a shady pen outside. As he had discovered the Zanteer was a female, while the Snaptrotter was a male. There was a pool of water near them that the reptile seemed to relish as his rear-end was in the water while the rest was resting outside. Issaly sat there with a half filled journal in front of him...it was his personal journal. The sketch of the two resting animals brought a smile to his face as he had written names beside them.

Ullyee. Saalin.

Here there be dragons...
Issaly Solo

It was a sunny day in Jauhar that welcomed Issaly when he sat on the fence of his Teacher’s property. Ullyee came up to nose his hand. The youth looking down at her with a smile. Petting her head he hummed as he watched the clouds above them. The youth hadn’t heard of the underground fighting for a while yet, that didn’t mean it was over. Just meant that those three were being more discreet about everything they were doing. He scratched behind her ear as he thought over what he could do today. Maybe take Ullyee and Saalin out to a nearby river to enjoy themselves. His Teacher said their Beastmaster ally had informed them of a few particulars that the two beasts would need that the Teacher couldn’t provide. One such thing was the presence of a large body of water. Issaly assumed his Teacher would look into finding a underground river to tap into it for a personal pool or something.

He chuckled at the thought. Then the youth hopped off the fence, smiling as Ullyee slipped underneath it. The female was almost like a Radaku pup at times with how she followed him. He supposed it was due to her previous treatment. The young healer in training knelt down to pet her and pamper her for a moment.

“Don’t ever forget, Ullyee. As horrid as your past was. It is what molded you into who you are today. Humans go by the same rules.” he said with a lifeless chuckle as he stood. Feeling a large snout against his back he let out a squeak. Then turned to look back over his shoulder to a very large reptile. “Saalin…” his chuckle had a bit more life to it. “Yes...you too boy.”

He turned to lavish some attention to the large reptile while he thought about what they were going to do today. As he walked towards the main house he saw a well known client walk out with a sour look. He noticed the male had his arm bandaged. Walking up he smiled.

“What was it today? That Radaku of yours throwing a fit?” he asked good-naturedly. He jumped a little when the male glared at him, but relaxed after they sighed.

“Friend of mine found an abandoned Janarim...blasted thing nearly took off my arm this morning when we tried to get near it.” the male explained. Issaly could see three points of how to explain the beasts reaction. One, this male and his friends were all hunters...so most likely they had their weapons and perhaps fired upon the poor thing. Two, all parties involved were aggressive for various reasons. None of which spelled out anything going nicely. Finally Three, this was the most important thing in Issaly’s mind. The male before him hated Oba with a passion, like many of the older warriors. So...chances were. He insulted the beast. Which just meant that it struck him out of sheer spite.

Issaly repressed the urge to roll his eyes. Patting the male’s good shoulder as he spoke. “If you’d like...I could scope out the beasts situation. Maybe help if at all possible.” he offered.

The male blinked before his eyes wandered back to Saalin, then down to Ullyee. Issaly already knew to bite his tongue. If he got defensive now chances were that the male would stonewall him. He would let the male’s mind wander a bit to gauge his character. The male nodded. “So long as those two are with you. I’d feel a lot better knowing you had some sort of protection.”

Issaly giggled. “As if I would be that foolish.” he would of. He so, would've left the two behind. He glanced down to Ullyee who now had a pointed glare. Oops...looks like she figured him out faster than he thought. As the male left with Issaly having all the information he needed the youth looked down to Ullyee. The female was sitting with a pointed stare leveled at him. “What?!?”

It was a few hours later that found the trio outside of what looked to be an abandoned building of some sort. Issaly crossed his arms hearing the beast within. “Sounds like they're calling for someone...think its the Master that left them?”

He looked at the two on either side of him, looking up when Therus flew overhead and into the building. Issaly waited a few more moments before Therus flew back out and waved. Issaly smiled as he followed the small sprite inside. Surprised to find that the building was set up like a circle almost. Issaly walked through a covered pathway and straight out into a courtyard. The thought this was a glorified arena struck him before his head whipped forward at the sound of twigs snapping. Issaly paused. The warrior never said if the beast was free roaming or not...oh...he felt a chill through his blood as the beast came in full view.

Yup. That was a Janarim alright. Issaly didn’t move, but he knew the beast saw his fear. Saalin took a few strides and placed himself between Issaly and the other beast. The small shifter looked around to see the Janarim look a bit shocked. The young trainee healer sighed. “Okay...no. Saalin I adore you for the attempt at protecting me.” he placed a gentle hand to the reptile’s side.

Stepping around Saalin he looked to the new beast. “Hi there. No, I have no weapons to harm you. These two are merely for companionship.” he stood there smiling. Never noticing Therus sitting on Saalin’s head motioning for the Janarim to sit. The beast blinked at the small sprite then looked down when a soft thump alerted it to the third member of the beastly trio. Ullyee’s nod to the ground is what sealed it. Issaly blinked as he saw the beast slowly sit as if off-put by his ease. The healer got a sense of confidence. “Well, aren’t you mannerly. Here. I got a few dried pieces of meat for you.”

The young healer walked up without a care. The Janarim’s mouth twitched in a growl but stopped short when another thump resounded. Issaly didn’t pay it any mind. Ullyee randomly thumped her tail, he just figured it was a instinct of hers while swimming. The beast glanced to her. Ullyee did not look ready to negoitate. So, it put up with Issaly for now. The small healer trianee brought out the dried meat. Offering it to the beast before he let out a small little gasp. “Oh jeeze where are my manners….”

Issaly took a few steps back after setting the food at the Janarim’s feet. “There you are. Sorry about that, I tend to forget personal bubbles. Eat up. I got plenty more.” Issaly sat there for a few hours. Tossing food to the new beast, while hand-feeding his two. All the while he talked about random things that the beasts around him either understood or didn’t. He had no idea. He just liked seeing their facial quirks during certain stories. He supposed it was his tone as he spoke that they were really reacting to. Either way as he stood to leave he felt a small tug on his mantle. Looking back he smiled gently at the beast. “Here’s the deal. You don’t want me to leave. Come back with us to where I have these two. I already told you about my Teacher. Their place is isolated. These two are hardly bothered. You’ll have plenty of hiding spots.”

He reached out and was warmed by the beast moving their head to nuzzle his hand. “I’ll even sleep with all of you tonight if that’s what you need.”

He did the same thing with Ullyee and Saalin back when they first arrived. Seeing the beast nod as it got closer to the youth. Issaly led it back to his Teacher’s pens. The elderly shifter chuckled as they saw their pupil return. They glanced to a now slack jawed male. The same they had patched up earlier. “I do believe you owe me those three coin purses you keep for your gambling issue…”

Choice
Issaly Solo

He was furious. Utterly and completely furious. The young healer paced back and forth as he ranted to his Teacher about the argument.

“...he had the nerve to threaten not just Abysio, but Saalin and Ullyee as well!! Like just because they aren’t from Jauhar they didn’t have a right to exist!” he threw up his hands in sheer frustration. His Teacher sat there sipping their tea watching the youth pace as Issaly sometimes repeated what he said. Well the point got across at least. The elder shifter waited till Issaly paused before they interjected.

“So...you came in here ranting and raving like the inner maniac I know you to be. Do inform your dear Teacher. Just. How did all this start?” they ask calmly sipping at the steaming cup. Issaly paused before turning to look at the elder.

“I only asked, if that when we leave Jauhar. I be allowed to go on my own for a time. I had a plan to meet up with him in a known settlement...as soon as ‘on my own’ left my mouth.” Isssaly sat with tears in his eyes. “He lost it. He went off on me...like i had said I was going to live in Oba with Saraf and his Mother again.” He let out a long sigh.

“Child. Your elder brother worries about you. While he is filled with anger now. He’ll...calm as time goes on. What do you want to do?” his Teacher’s words calmed him more than anything.

“I want to be on my own. I don’t like feeling as if i’m in the way of my brother’s ultimate happiness. I know...as long as I’m here. He’ll keep putting me ahead of Vallen. I’ve seen the two together. Vallen is good for him...I don’t want him to stifle his own growth. I learned enough to get me started on the road. I want to find my own feet….” the youth said his eyes going dimmer as the words left him.

He felt his Teacher’s hand on his shoulder he looked up. “You will. Take your companions. There’s a friend of mine who’s going out to Tale. They’ll take you with them for free. All you have to do is meet them out on the outskirts before sundown.”

Issaly binked. Knowing that most of his belongings here would be fine for him to leave. He got up and wrote out a note. Turning as he spoke. “Teacher, please give this to Sauron. I don’t want to leave without saying anything, but I can’t see Isaris right now….”

His Teacher nodded in understanding. With that the youth was busy with gathering everything and getting ready. Once he was done. Issaly bid his Teacher farewell and left Jauhar. He looked back as the small caravan left the forests he called home. Wondering what life would have in store for him. He looked down to Abysio as the Janarim had willingly offered Issaly his back for the start of the journey. A journey Issaly was sure would give his feet.

A Simple Elixir
Issaly Class Solo

Issaly sat in the small Inn of the...well he couldn’t call it a settlement. It was more like a large camp. Seems these were fairly common if it was a group of family members that didn’t wish to change their traditions. This was one such encampment. Issaly was welcomed as they were a family of Shifters, some were members who went in and out, while others kept the small camp in well order. Issaly was mesmerized by all the family hustle and bustle. He wondered...if his own Clan that was at the corner of his mind was like this. He didn’t know much, from the stories he heard of his Mother he wished he knew her. Isaris never talked about their Father, refused to even hint at the male ever existing. Issaly sighed then. He just...was curious. Standing the youth brushed himself off as he looked around for something to do. The locals didn’t seem too keen on his method of healing, though Issaly did know the magic for it. He knew better than to attempt it without a proper channel. Such as the beads his knew his Mother used...Isaris’ stories about those beads had captured the young healer’s imagination. Supposedly they were beads of shifting color. Issaly hadn’t see a bead like that...not yet anyway.

The youth drummed his fingers along the strap of the bag he was currently carrying. Glancing to Therus on his shoulder and Ullyee at his side. He thanked the higher powers that Abysio and Saalin were hunting at the moment. Issaly didn’t want to stay long, though he knew Therus would be able to find those two. He didn’t like the idea that someone might capture them and he’d never see either of them again. He fiddled with his thumbs as he waited for the Camp’s Healer to meet with him. He was trying to get supplies and they were the prime holder of the medicinal herbs. The youth let out a few breathes...trying calm his nerves. He didn’t want to mess up and not get what he needed. Looking up as a robed Shifter strode out to sit opposite of him.

The face of the healer in front of him was...interesting. Issaly could neither see them as a male or a female. Their eyes were pleasantly shaped with features that were a blessing to either gender. The youth found himself silenced before the elder’s voice...again Issaly couldn’t pinpoint the gender. “So, young one. I have been told you wish to enter negotiations for herbal medicine supplies.”

Issaly nods. “Yes, I learned herbal medicine from my Teacher in Jauhar.” As he spoke the youth brought out his Teacher’s journal. Blinking as the elder sitting across from him brought out one of the same make. “Oh...you have the same?” he trailed off looking up at the elder.

“Karidaii. Is your Teacher’s name I take it?” the elder asked softly. Issaly nodded and was rewarded with a warm smile. “I remember them well. Kar and I go far into the past as allies. Now, dear child. What is your name?”

Issaly smiled. “Issaly…” he sat quietly. “May I know your name, elder?”

The elder Shifter leaned back with that same kind smile. “Lothrolin. Now then...what will you show me to prove that you are capable of these herbs? Out of respect to my old ally, I will entertain the idea of giving you these herbs. If...and only if. You prove you are skilled in them. I will not allow someone with ill experience to endanger themselves or others with some of the more deadly combinations. Am I understood?” the kind smile had faded somewhat. Issaly figured there was a past student who misused the herbs and paid the price. He nodded.

“How shall we do this?’ he asked. The elder stood and with a wave indicated for Issaly to follow. The youth stood following them till they entered a small side room. A display of herbs, unlabeled was spread out before him. Issaly hummed as he already had spotted several herbs he knew. Three of which were toxic on their own. He looked to the elder who walked to a curtain and drew it back. Laying there was a child. Issaly felt his gut twist.

“This child is ill. I want you to produce a herbal elixir that will ease their suffering.” Lothrolin said stepping to the side. Of course the elder was fully capable of mending the child should things go terribly wrong. They wouldn’t set up the youth to stain their hands with blood. The elder watches as Issaly silently walked to the child. Sitting next to them the youth felt the child’s temperature, after a few more pokes...watchful eyes kept a study on the child’s face. Issaly leaned back.

“Upset stomach, giving the child fever from the stress on their body.” Issaly muttered. Lothrolin was impressed. The child was gifted with intuition, that was the right diagnostic. The elder took a few strides as Issaly stood to walk back to the herbs. The youth plucked up three that the elder knew from Jauhar. Then Issaly paused as he overlooked the others. He squinted at a few...he saw those. Collected--wait. He pulled out the journal. Flipping to the Tale section he had started. Picking up a grain he studied it then smiled. This would do...Lothrolin blinked. The youth was using a mixture which was new to the elder.

Once Issaly had finely ground down a few of the herbs. Set water to boil and dropped a thick root into the boiling water. The youth let out a breath as he gathered his mind to meditate. He found this to work focus on healing his client. Issaly felt a odd calm, followed by that tickle of something that felt like water down his arms. The youth had no idea that it was the flow of magic that seeped into the herbs. He finished meditating and finished putting everything into the kettle. As he stirred the youth hummed. Once that was done. Issaly poured it into a mug, pausing as he picked up a tin he pulled out a dried leaf, crushing it in his fingers he let it dissolve into the mug. Humming again the youth took a small spoonful of honey and mixed that in as well.

Lothrolin smiled as they realized that the youth had sweetened the mixture for the child. Issaly walked back over. “Here you are. Drink up...let me know if its too bitter.”

The child took a sip and shook their head. Easily draining the cup, Lothrolin walked over. Placing a hand to the child’s head they nodded. Feeling the herbs take effect. “Interesting mixture.”

Issaly smiled. “Its one I’ve had to use quite often actually. That mixture helps settle stomachs. The leaf I added last to sweeten it actually, when used with that root I boiled down, helps break fevers. While it is dominantly used to ease headaches by being chewing it.” The youth explained while he stood back up. Putting his tin and honey jar away. He turned back to watch as the elder took out a small book. Wrapping up a fair selection of new herbs the youth hadn’t seen yet.

“These herbs can be found in deep parts of Tale. The book I’m giving you holds details about all of them as well as a few I would like you to collect yourself. Just to gather more experience.” When the elder had finished they presented the parcel to Issaly. The youth nodding in thanks.

“Thank you elder!” the youth said taking the parcel and stowing it in his bag. Smiling brightly he was ecstatic about passing this little test. Waving to the small gathering that saw him off down the path. He glanced down to Ullyee at his side. The female looking bright and chipper, matching the mood of the Sprite fluttering above him. He walked further out of sight and held out a hand as Saalin slipped under it for attention. Abysio trotted up on his other side, allowing the youth to swing up on his back. The small group making their way deeper into Tale’s terrain. Issaly had no idea what laid in wait for him...

A Meeting of Packs

Issaly sees Aysun again!

PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2016 8:22 pm

Growth Solo
Aspect of Morals

It was easy to be frustrated with family, Issaly observed as he sat leaning against Abysio with a glare to the ground. He was in Yera still, waiting for Aysun to be ready to leave. When lo’ and behold...Isaris showed up. Of course the two brothers started off well...Issaly kept things short and to the point….then...the youth let out a long sigh at this. Isaris made a comment on his new scar. Said that if Abysio was allowing scars then what good was he. That...that did not sit too well with the young healer and Issaly promptly went off on his brother. The whole conversation ended with Isaris storming off as Issaly tried not to cry.

He felt Abysio nudge him. The youth reached back to stroke a hand down the beast's snout. He looked up after the hulking beast let out a long whine. “I’m fine, Abysio...I’m just...upset.” he looked down as Ullyee’s head as she laid it on his hip. “Siblings are frustrating. As much as I know I love him and would protect him against those who would talk about him.” he groaned. “I wanan shove him off a tree branch right now.”

He heard a soft chuckle. Looking up he blinked at the sight of a dark skinned dreadlocked male. Issaly was still for all of ten seconds before he let out a yelp and jerked forward. Wincing in pain he felt strong arms pull him back into Abysio’s side. “Hey, hey!!! Easy there little cutie...didn’t mean to frighten you.”

Issaly curled back into Abysio as the male walked around. At the newcomers side was a small yet adorable Janarim adolescent. Issaly openly stared at him. “Who are you?”

“Nekkcro. Traveling Historian...well.” He looked up to the large Janarim that walked around Issaly and Abysio. Issaly was surprised that Abysio didn’t react...well. He looked to the lowered head. Seems like this new beast was most definitely an alpha. The young healer nodded in greeting. Nekkcro tilted his head. “And, you little cutie?”

Issaly gulped. “Issaly...Trainee Healer.” he glanced down to Abysio. Ullyee poked her head over Issaly’s hip to stare at the Oban. Issaly smiled a bit when the larger Janarim at the newcomer’s side actually gave a slight jolt. The smaller male cleared his throat. “This is Ullyee she’s a Xanteer from Matori, the Janarim behind me is Abysio. There should be a Sprite and a Snapptrotter around here as well. Most likely one’s out hunting and the other is acting as their guide home.”

Nekkcro chuckled. “Hopfully the Sprite is the guide, never known one of them to be a meat eater.” Issaly couldn’t help joining in on that chuckle at the image of Therus being a predator. As the two fell into a silence the Oban tilted his head. “So...this is my inner nosy historian...but what had you so depressed earlier?” he leaned back as he asked.

Issaly blinked then glanced to the two beasts with him. Talking to beasts who couldn’t reply wasn’t helping his mindset at the moment. He let out a sigh. “I got in a argument with my elder brother. He doesn’t seem to want me to be on my own feet. Like...I feel as if I’m suppose to follow his path and never think on my own.” He rubbed his temples.

Nekkcro hummed. “Your old enough to remember the Oban War...right?”

Issaly blinked. “I was a infant at the time. Isaris is my only brother I know to be living right now...he said we have four...the circular stones on my forehead--” he pushed up his bangs to show the other male. “Are supposedly a family trait singular to me and my brothers. Our Mother had a half circle, from what I’m told.”

Nekkcro nodded. “Were you and your brother taken by the Obans?” His Janarim behind him looked down to nuzzle the youth. Issaly could see tension in Nekkcro’s shoulders.

Issaly nodded. “That’s how Isaris puts it, to me...since I was so young. I didn’t know any better. All I can remember clearly before seeing the Sun was bars. After that we were taken by a young warrior and his Mother. She was kind. Extremely kind. More so than I think she should of been. Isaris was sick...they got him help. I remember happy times. Then…” he eyes dropped to the ground. “Another shifter arrived...Isaris said we were going back to where we were born. We were going to find our brothers, then go back to Oba. He said…” Issaly let out a stressed groaned. “He said...he would send a letter back to the Warrior and his Mother, making sure they knew we would return. We were alright.” the youth shook his head. “He never did.”

Nekkcro’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “Wow...sounds like your elder brother messed up big time. Any reason why?”

Issaly nodded. “I have a inkling. Isaris doesn’t like Oba very much. I think it's because of the War, but I don’t have the patience right now to ask.” That was the only thing he thought of as the reason behind his brother’s intense rejection of Abysio.

Nekkcro let out a soft sigh. “You can’t be angry at him forever. I know from experience. Holding a grudge like this...leaves things unresolved.” he fiddled with a linked bracelet around his left wrist. Issaly blinked before looking up at him.

“Why can’t I? He lied to me! For years! I saw that warrior again...the things he said...I--” the youth breathed deeply to quiet his tears. “I felt as if I had betrayed him. I didn’t want that...I always wanted to be his friend. Now...that’s never going to happen...he hates me.” the silvery tears that dropped had Nekkcro watching in sympathy.

“Yeah...I have a similar story to yours, little cutie.” the male’s russet eyes seemed to darken. “A long time ago, my brother and I argued over my lover at the time. They were a Leaf, someone from a family that he didn’t trust. We pretty much stopped talking for a few years. When I finally worked up the nerve after things ended bad with that particular lover. I found out…” Nekkcro looked to the bracelet. “He had been killed. By the very lover I had protected from him. Irony. This bracelet was his...my parents had found it near where he laid. I never got to say I was sorry for doubting him...I never heard him out…” As Nekkcro finished he looked up to see Issaly sitting there with teary eyes.

“I never...thought...oh...Lunar Mother...what if that warrior gets ahold of Isaris while he’s out of Jauhar. I don’t wanna lose my brother...Nekkcro...I…” he lowered his face into his hands. His mind whirling. The idea of his brother falling in battle before they could sort this out. It scared him. Could he really hold a grudge over something like this lie? As upset as he was, Issaly straightened as he looked up to the Oban. Blinking as he didn’t see anyone there at all. He looked around then down to the seat where he had been. There wasn’t any tracks leading to or away from where he was. Then again, Issaly was sitting on grass so there was a high chance that the wind blew it back into place. He looked to Abysio and Ullyee. “There was someone there right?”

The two beasts blinked at him as if the youth was losing it a bit. Issaly stood shakily as he started to pace. Mentally debating on what he was going to do. He never thought that something would or could happen to Isaris...his brother was always unbeatable to the youth’s mind. Issaly inhaled deeply. As much as he feared for his brother’s well-being...he would have to think more on forgiving him. The lie was too great, it was too impacting. Issaly’s whole life had been built on that hope that he could see Oba again. He looked up. Though he felt at home among the trees of Jauhar. His blood called for the arid heat of Oba, at least one more time.

Was he going to hold this grudge for the end of his days? No. Issaly figured that he at some point would forgive his elder brother. He just...couldn’t understand or fathom his elder’s mind. The male wasn’t acting like Issaly remembered him as a child. As much as Isaris felt he was protecting Issaly, he could of gone about it a different way. At least that’s what Issaly thought, he looked to where Nekkcro had been sitting.

“I’m sorry, Nekkcro. I understand your story, but...A lie...that’s built up my whole life...I can’t forgive so easily. In time...I’ll forgive him, but for now...he has a bit more to explain things to me. As long as I don’t understand where he’s coming from, as long as he refuses to explain to me. I can’t bend my morals to ease the anger of another.” that being said, Issaly leaned on Abysio as the beast rose to find Saalin and Therus. Issaly hoping that Aysun was willing to let him join on the adventure.

Lesson Learned
While Issaly knows its wrong of him, he has decided to keep his stand. As much as he loves his brother. He won't bend his morals just to ease his brother's anger. Not when he knows his brother is in the wrong.
