Journal 1 In the tree that Briella called her home she was the youngest, she was the baby of the family. It was hard since all of her sisters had found their calling; Maya was even a blade already! She had tried to approach their elder more then once but she always turned Briella away or ignored her altogether. She told her she wasn’t ready, that she was still too young. Briella laughed to herself. What wasn’t she ready for? She had practiced with everything possible when she could get her hands on things, she was already sure what she wanted to use. She had practiced with all the weapons her older sisters had let her get her hands onto when she was back at the mother tree and never hurt herself or done anything bad. Why wouldn’t Kishku just let her pick one? She felt as if Kishku was keeping her without a calling on purpose, as if she didn’t want Briella to go on, as if she wanted to keep her the baby of the family and never let her grow up. She wanted to tell everyone that it isn’t fair and pout, but she knew that would just make her seem more and more childish. She had to show everyone that she was older enough to have a calling.
Sighing Briella stood up on the branch and climbed higher till she found a branch from another tree to launch into. As she went from tree to tree she wondered if she could just go into the elders room and pick a weapon for herself. She knew what she wanted; did she really need the elder’s permission? Sighing she dropped a little lower into the tree she was in, heading towards a fruit that she had seen earlier. No matter how much she wanted to she would never go into the elders room without her permission. To disrespect someone like that was something that she would never do. As much as she didn’t want to she would wait until Kishku told her that she felt she was ready to choose a weapon of her own. She just had to find a way to get the elder to know how ready she was.
Placing some fruits in her bag she moved further up in the tree, looking to see if she could find anything for her sister Dyakida to use to make weapons. It was something that Briella found amazing. Even without her sight Dyakida was such an asset to their family. Sure she wasn’t a warrior or anything, but not everyone could be a warrior. Someone had to make the weapons for the warriors, and she hadn’t seen many weapons that were as nice as the ones that Dyakida made, and she was getting better and better. Plus Dyakida was there to help her, and any one else, whenever they needed. She was an amazing sister and Briella was glad to have her in the same home tree. With a thought Briella stopped in her tracks. Maybe that was what Elder Kishku was waiting for? Maybe Dyakida was making new weapons for her to pick from! At once Briella got excited, though it didn’t last long. The more she thought about it the more she realized that was very unlikely. She was sure Dyakida would have told her something if that was the case, plus she had been in here sisters room many times so she would have seen all of the different weapons. Well at least it was a good idea.
Grabbing different things as she went from tree to tree she started back towards the home tree. Her bag was almost full with different kinds of things she found on the way. She took her time on the way back, looking below her to see if she could see an Earthling. Sure she had seen them once or twice, but never up close or for more then a few seconds. Maya had even killed one once, and she hadn’t even had a conversation or seen one up close. Part of her wanted to see them, she had heard so much about them, but part of her was terrified. Maybe if she had a weapon of her own she wouldn’t be so afraid. Sighing Briella was starting to get angry. Just because she was the youngest didn’t mean that she had to be treated like some youngling. She wasn’t all that much younger then Maya and Dyakida. By the time she reached the tree Briella was annoyed. She dropped off her bag in her room, taking out the fruits and putting them with the other ones before going and sitting in front of Kishku’s room. If Kishku didn’t think she was ready she would wait for Kishku to change her mind. She would sit there all day if that was what it took. As she waited Briella began to get sleepy, this whole waiting business was taking much longer then she originally thought!
************TIME SKIP**************
With a start Briella jumped awake, not even sure how long she had been sleeping. Startled by the sight of Kishku Briella took a step back before bowing at her waist and opened her mouth to stumble out an apology or something. “Hello Elder Kishku, I’m so sorry...” she started to stay before the elder cut her off. “Why were you sleeping at my door? You have your own room.” the elder said standing in the middle of her door way. Briella took a deep breath. Maybe this plan was a horrible idea, she should have thought more about it or even talked to her sisters to see what they thought. Oh well, it was too late for that. She was already there so there was no sense in not going through with her original plan.
“I’m sorry Elder Kishku, I promise I didn’t mean to fall asleep at your door. I came to talk to you.” and before the Elder could say anything more to discourage her Briella kept rambling on. “So every time we talk about me finding my calling you tell me that I’m to young, or I’m not ready, but I think I’m ready. And I mean this with no disrespect, and you know I would never disrespect you, but I really want to know why you won’t let me. Maya is already a blade, and she isn’t that much older then me. It seems everyone here has a purpose besides me and I think I’m ready. I always do what is asked of me, I’m always respectful and I think since leaving Mother I have matured a lot. Why haven’t you allowed me to find my calling? What is it that I’m doing wrong?”. There was nothing more that Briella could say, and she was already terrified as it was. She had never spoken to an Elder like that and she half expected to be punished for it. Respect was something that meant a lot to Briella, and although what she said wasn’t really disrespectful she was questioning an Elder’s choices and that wasn’t really showing the respect that she should.
Kishku didn’t answer for a few minutes, which seemed like hours to Briella, and then finally smiled. “I was waiting to see if you would stick up for yourself. You have been ready for a while now, but it wasn’t until this moment that you proved yourself to me. Let’s go.” she said taking Briella’s wrist and walking into her room. Briella was stunned and didn’t know where to look first. She had never been in her Elder’s room and it was stunning to her. As Kishku walked around and picked things up Briella couldn’t help but look at everything. As Kishku walked around the room Briella forgot what she was even there for, it wasn’t until the Elder cleared her throat that Briella’s attention when back to her.
“Take your time, make sure what you pick is what you want…” it seemed like the Elder was going to say more but as soon as Briella saw the two blades she grabbed them and held them to her chest. Kishku laughed and shook her head. “I should have known you wouldn’t take as long as some of the others. Very well, treasure these. Maybe if you get lucky later on Dyakida would make you special ones.” and with that Kishku turned away and seemed to forget all about Briella.
With a smile Briella turned to run out of the room but stoped in her tracks and turned back to Kishku. Bowing she could barely contain her excitement. “Thank you so much Elder Kishku. I promise that I will practice and be the very best that I can be. I promise that you will be proud of me and not regret giving me this. I promise.”. Bowing again Briella ran out of the room and went to look for either Dyakida or Maya. She had to tell her sisters that she finally found her calling; she finally got her very own blades. As she went further and further from Kishku’s room she swore she could hear the Elder laughing at her.

I met my first shifter ever, and he was even a male! At first I was scared and tried to act all tough but he was even more scared then I was! I had been stalking him for a while then fell out of the tree I was hiding in, but I don't think he knows this. Anyways I asked him a lot of questions and I think I now know a lot more about the Shifters then ever before! He said that the next time we met he will teach me a game with marbles. It sounds exciting.

Dyakida is always down for an adventure, and boy did we have one today! We searched ruins that Niebet found and they seemed to be somewhere where others once lived. We found a few odd objects to bring back home, as well as a hurt Earthling! We brought her back to her village and I assume they saved her life, but Dyakida made sure to tell them that we could have killed her easily and that most would have done so. She also told them they owed us a favor. She is so wise, I would have never thought of that but it might come in handy one day. If I ever see Biroki again I will have to make sure to ask about the women and if he knows anything about her and her health, I would like to know if she makes it and I'm sure Dya would as well.. Life is never dull here in Jahaur.

Journal 2 “Why won't you just leave me alone!” Briella cried as she turned to swat the little sprite that pulled her hair. He had been messing with her for days now, and whenever she told her sisters about him they looked at her like she was crazy. It seemed he didn't bother anyone but her, nor did he let anyone else see him. “For once can't you listen! Go bother someone else. I'm sure Niebet wouldn't mind.” she grumbled under her breath as her eyes searched for him. He was a little trickster, this sprite, and no matter what she did she could never catch him. She had tried tricking him with food, catching him with her hands, even sealing her room so no one could get in, but no matter what she did he was there to bother her. He pulled her hair, messed with her clothing, broke cups and other things, it seemed that he would do anything and everything that would bother her.
Sitting in the middle of her room Briella closed her eyes. She sat there silently with a jar in her hand that she assumed was a little bigger then the sprite. Quietly she listened for him, wishing for the first time that she had Dyakida's super hearing. It wasn't to long till she felt the tugging of her hair and the sprites giggle as he flew away from her. Normally she would have moved to swat him away, or attempt to catch him, but this time she just sat as still as she could. The giggling stopped and he seemed to be a little confused as to why she wasn't doing anything to catch him. It wasn't much longer till he pushed a cup down and giggled as it smashed to pieces. Putting her best calm face on Briella sat there, wanting to kill him inside but trying her hardest to make it seem as if he wasn't bothering her and she didn't care what he was doing. See, she had a plan, with her always reacting he was always on guard against her attacks, but if she sat there and pretend like he wasn't even there then maybe, just maybe, she would be able to catch him.
It seemed like hours passed as she listened to him moving small things and pushing things off her table before he stopped and came back to pull her hair once more. This time was harder then the last, and he held on for longer as well. Her plan was working, and although she wanted to crack at smile at her good fortune she didn't want to change her facial expression and risk having to start all over! The noses that she normally heard the sprite make were giggles when he did something back, but he wasn't so happy any more and a new noise replaces his normally mischievous giggles. She could feel the air from his wings pushing against her head before he pulled one of her antennas. That was harder to ignore, but she had been waiting so long and there was no way that she was going to just give up like that. She felt him land on her shoulder and was about to move when he took to the air again. So he was testing her, the little sprite was smarted then she originally thought!
The next this she knew he was on her legs, and the noises he made seemed to her like he was yelling at her! Moving as fast as she possibly could Briella opened her eyes and slammed the jar over him, hoping that the jar would fit and she didn't kill him. Looking down she was pleased to see him banging on the glass, and although he didn't seem to be hurt he wasn't happy. He was making angry noises as he banged on the glass. "Now you look here Mr! You have been causing me nothing but trouble since you came into my life! You pull my hair, you break my things, and I haven't been able to find some things since you started coming around! On top of that my sisters think I am crazy every time I talk about you since they can't see you! I even heard Niebet telling the elder I was breaking these things and making up stories for attention! She said I was a baby and maybe I shouldn't have my weapons yet!" Oh Briella was mad, and this little sprite was going to get it! The sprite had stopped banging on the glass and just stared up at Briella as she yelled, it seemed she had all of his attention. "Now here is the deal, you are going to stop messing with me and come with me to see my sisters so they know I'm not crazy. If you agree to do that then I will set you free. Deal?" she stared at the little sprite, sure that he was smart enough to understand her. She was right, and when he shook his head no her jaw dropped. "No? No? Well if you don't agree to this deal I'm going to...." Briella couldn't even think of a good enough punishment for this creature who had been driving her crazy for so long. "If you don't agree to this deal I'm going to squish you." Now Briella would never do that, but luckily for her he didn't know that.
Although she was sure that would do the trick the little sprite shook his head no again. "Alright then, you made your decision and now I have to follow through with the consequences." Standing up Briella raised her foot up like she was going to step on the jar. Now she didn't think her foot would even break the glass, but from the noises coming from the sprite it was apparent that he didn't know that. Moving back to where she was so she could see him the sprite was nodding his head up and down as fast as he could. "So you agree to my deal?" she asked making sure. He nodded his head once more. Satisfied Briella took the jar off him. "Now no funny business. Remember I caught you once and I could do it again, if you don't do as we agreed then next time there won't be any options, I'll just squish you!" The sprite touched his wings and seemed to be making sure everything was safe before flying up in the air so that he was right in front of Briella's face. He reached up and pulled on one of her antennas, smiling the whole time and starting at her. It wasn't as hard as before though and she had a feeling he was just testing the waters. "Come on, I want the Elder to see you first. I'm no baby and I was not making things up for attention." she said as she tapped her shoulder, which he flew to and landed on. Smiling Briella started making her way to her elders room.
************TIME SKIP**************
It had been a little over a week since she caught the little sprite, and after showing all her sisters that he was real and she hadn't been making him up Briella expected him to leave. However it seemed he had different plans. Although he was no longer tormenting Briella or breaking things, on purpose, he was never very far from Briella's side. It seemed as if he planned to on staying with her. One day she sat down and held her hand out. "We need to talk." Briella said looking at the sprite. He slowly flew towards her, it was apparent he was still wary of her even though she hadn't hurt him yet. "You aren't leaving are you?" landing on her hand the sprite shook his head no, he wasn't going anywhere. Briella sighed. "Well lucky for you, you've grown on me. Though if your going to stay you need a name. How is Trouble?" she asked with a smile. He began chattering angerily. "I was just kidding! Niba? Zachu? Macca?" she asked and with every name he shook his head more. Gosh this was hard, how was she ever going to have something to call him if he didn't like any name she thought about. "Okay, I got it! How about Amadi?" at once he stopped chattering and scratched his head slowly before nodding. "Okay Amadi, you are free to stay as long as you'd like. I was going to make you a little bed but it seems you like sleeping with me, so I'm not going to waste my time. Now you can keep up your harmless pranks, but if I find out you've done anything really bad your going to be in trouble. Okay?" Amadi nodded his head and hugged one of her fingers. It seemed that the once pest had become her new pet and friend.

Journal 3 Briella walked threw the forest, something she found herself doing more and more as the ways went by. She enjoyed being along, though she wasn't really alone since Amadi went anywhere that she went. He was her constant companion, and although she thought she would regret allowing him to stay with her when she first said he could now she couldn't picture her life without him. His constant chattering of something she had no clue about, the small and harmless pranks he played. Yes Amadi had become dear to Briella and she would protect the little sprite with her life. Plus there was the fact that he drove Niebet crazy that made him that much more valuable to Briella. Yes any enemy of Niebet's was a friend to Briella.
Since her little adventure with Dyakida Briella had been thinking a lot. One thing that she thought about a lot was Dyakida's sudden burst of emotion. It wasn't like her, or any Alkidike really, to show such vulnerability. However she had started it, and she had fond herself thinking more and more like that the longer that they were away from the home tree. Where she was more competitive and focused on herself when she lived at the home tree since moving away she thought more and more about others. A perfect example would be of the Earthling her and Dyakida saved on their adventure. She wasn't sure what her younger self would have done, killed the women or just left her there to fend for herself, but she was sure that younger Briella wouldn't have taken it upon herself to make sure the women got to an Earthling village so they could try and save her. Although she had felt good about her decision at the time she wondered if it was really the right thing to do? While returning the women the Earthling could have attacked her and Dyakida, assuming they had hurt the women, and then what? Although she knew she could take down a few Earthlings by herself what if there were a lot of them? Also she would have had to protected Dyakida, if anything had happened to her sister because she made the decision to take the women to her people Briella would have never been able to live with herself. Taking a deep breath she watched as Amadi flew over the water of a pond they walked by, dipping sometimes into the water and splashing all that he could at Briella. Oh how she envied his carefree lifestyle sometimes. He wouldn't waste his time thinking of things such as if he made the right decision or not a few days ago, no his thoughts were in the present not the past.
Then it hit her, maybe she should be more like Amadi? Live in the moment, then again that was kind of what she was doing going on the Adventure on the first place, just going with her first instinct of trying to beat Nibet to something. Briella smiled, oh when they got home Niebet was so pissed. Sure the Elder was a little but worried about where both her and Dyakida had wandered off to for so long, but she wasn't overly worried, after all Dyakida was older and wiser and Briella was more then able to protect the two of them. However when they told the Elder about the ruins and the item they found Niebet almost had a fit! She had been screaming and stomping around the house for the next couple days. This would make it harder for her to spy on Niebet in the future, but with the help of Amadi she was pretty sure that she could figure out some kind of plan. She had been trying to teach him sign language or some way of communication between the two of them but she hadn't been doing all that well yet. However she was determined.
Briella was about to head back home when Amadi flew towards her face. He wasn't making any noise, which was very rare, but he was pulling her hair towards a tree. She was confused but allowed herself to be pulled back behind the tree. Once out of view Amadi took up his usual spot on her shoulder, though he was closer to her then normal. "What..." Briella began to say before she heard people walking threw the bushes. She needed to be more careful, it seemed more and more that when her mind wandered she didn't pay as much attention to the world around her. "So you saw two of them? The Alkidikes? And you say that Se'noda was almost dead? Do you think they did it to her? I've heard they were ruthless warriors! Maybe they brought her back to prove a point? Or didn't one of them say something about a favor? Maybe they brought her back just so we would owe them a favor?" Briella's eyes narrowed as she peaked out to see exactly who it was that was speaking. How dare they speak of her and Dyakida like that! Taking a deep breath Briella realized that if she was going to start living in the moment then she might as well start that right then and there!
"How dare you say such things! My sister and I saved her life." Briella said with her hands on her swords. Amadi was sitting on her shoulder standing as high as he could, scolding the the Shifters in his unknown language as well as moving his hands around angrily. If it wasn't for the fact that Briella was so mad she would have been laughing at his antics. "You need to be more careful of what you say and where you say it. My sister and I saved that women," She repeated to make sure they understood. "And you are correct in hearing that we are ruthless, so the fact that we saved should make you even more thankful." She stole a quick glance towards the Shifter's hands, realizing that neither of them had weapons. Oh this was too easy. "It seems you are both unarmed." Briella laughed as both of their faces fell, realizing that was she said was correct. From their faces she was pretty sure they didn't even have a fruit knife on them. How stupid of them to go out into the forest without anything to protect themselves with. "If I really wanted I could kill you here and now." a playful smile eased upon her lips. She liked to scare people sometimes, especially when they made stupid comments. She moved as if she was going to launch herself at them and the two of them screamed before turning and running away into the forest. She made no move to chase them, instead fell to the floor in a fit of giggles. "Did you see their faces Amadi? They actually thought I was going to kill them." she said between her laughter. Amadi chimed in his own high pitched laughter.
Instead of getting up Briella lay on the floor for a little longer, Amadi flying about and still giggling. She wasn't the same girl she was when she left their home. She had become more talkative, even to those she didn't know, though she kept the respectfulness that she grew up when talking to those who held a superior position then her. She had discovered that like Amadi she had a mischievous streak in her that she was unaware of. She liked to mess with peoples head, say things crazy just to see what their reaction would be. She was also more aware of the other species that inhabited the lands around her. She still had some of her competitive streak, but like she thought earlier it had died down tremendously. She also wasn't as self centered, but then again that was a trait for a youngling which she no longer was. She was changing, and although she questioned some of the changes others she was proud of and she was sure Aisha would be proud of them as well. She was getting older, and to become a blade maybe these were changes that had to be made. She needed to be more compassionate of others or risk being like Niebet, something she had vowed she would never become. Her mischievous wasn't something she was all that proud of, but it was something that was making her more unique. After all everyone couldn't be perfect, it would be her flaw though she would use it as a strength also. After all those who were mischievous could keep others guessing, something that was useful as a warrior.
Watching Amadi she stood up, ready to finally go back home to their tree. She had been thinking a lot, to much for one day, and the whole process had made her sleepy. She couldn't wait to tell Dyakida about the things those stupid Shifters had said. "Come on Amadi, let's get home. It's getting late, the sun in setting, and I'm hungry. I bet you could go for a bite as well." she said holding out her hand for him to land. He chattered away for a second before flying to her hand and then climbing towards her shoulder. Briella started climbing a tree, knowing that she would get there faster if she left the ground bellow her. Although it wasn't the most eventful of her walks she had figured out a lot about herself on this walk threw the forest. Yes, Briella was pleased with how the day had turned out.

When they called for people to help take down a beast in Zena I was more then willing to go, although I didn't tell my sisters. I felt like I was needed and while I didn't do as much damage as I wish I would have been able to do I am happy to say that I did take part in taking down the beast as well as saving countless animals that would have been the beast's meal.

Today I met Kadriye, this is the first time I've seen her up close. She is one of my sisters that is able to use magic and take the path of a mystic. We walked and talked, deciding that I am her Private Protector and if she ever needs me I told her she can call me to accompany her and keep her safe. She really liked Amadi. There is something about her. I'm not sure what it is, but she makes me feel different than any other sister I've ever met. I think I have a crush on her?

This has to have been the strangest, yet most wonderful, day of my life. I woke up to find a crying youngling, a sister even if she was a different color then most. She told me of how she had ran away from home, how she had been gone for a while and none had come to find her. She told me of how no one took her seriously and she was always treated as a child. I promised her that I would go to the island and make them make me her guardian, even if I had no clue how I would do that. But I did! I went there and I told the Elders and Eshe and they let me keep Ilyra! I know I will be a good mother!

Journal 4
The two of them walked out of the council room hand in hand, and Briella was still stunned. Although she could hear Ilyra chattering excitedly about all the things that they could do together Birella was only half listening. She had a daughter, but not only that she was now a blade! Two amazing things happened at the very same time and honestly she couldn't even believe either thing had happened. What would she tell Dyakida, what would she tell Maya? She left when no one was home as a prentice and without a child, and not only about a week later she was coming back both a blade and with a daughter. Looking down at Ilyra she nodded as she heard the young girl pause, but at her nod Ilyra started talking once again. She was odd looking, and had a lot of fire in her, Ilyra, but at the same time she was just a young child. She was just a child that didn't get the kind of attention she needed. Now that Briella was her mother it was Briella's job to give her this attention, could she do it? Although she had told the elders that she could do it, could she? Was she ready to be responsible for not only herself but another as well, a child who needed her to help her grow into a strong sister? Well she didn't really have a choice in the matter anymore, Ilyra was hers, but what if she messed up? What if she thought she was ready but wasn't really? No. She couldn't think like that. If the Elders thought she was ready, then she was. Plus it wasn't like she was living along, she had Maya, Dyakida, Elder Kishku and even Niebet who could help her out. Niebet might not be the best example, but she was sure that there was at least something that Niebet could teach Ilyra.
"So what do I call you? Do you want me to call you by your name? Or Mom? Or Mommy?" Ilyra asked, breaking through Briella's thoughts. Briella looked down at Ilyra and than forward again. She hadn't thought about that before... What did she want to be called? She called her mother's different things all the time, and she hadn't really thought about what she wanted her daughter to call her yet. "You can call me whatever you'd like Ilyra. I don't mind." Briella said with a laugh as she ruffled up Ilyra's hair with her free hand. She preferred Mom, but she wouldn't be picky. Her mothers let her call them whatever she wanted, Kaa also, so she wasn't going to dictate what her daughter call her. Her daughter, wow would she ever get use to saying that? And this was just to herself, what would happen when she had to tell other people that Ilyra was her daughter. She was sure that she would be able to say it out loud when the time came. She was sure that she could, she had to be able to. She didn't think Ilyra would like it very much if she didn't.
The two of them talked as Briella lead them to the edge of the island and to a small boat. As they made their way from their island Ilyra decided to take a nap, and Briella was thankful for that. She needed some quiet time to think. She wasn't all that sure if they had a free room in their tree for another youngling, but she was sure that there was space enough to make another one. Maya had made one for her daughter, so maybe she could help Briella? Thinking about Teiluj Briella had to keep herself from laughing. Both Teiluj and Ilyra were adopted. Maya and Briella book had two awkwardly different younglings, and that was funny. Maybe Aisha thought highly of their little group. Maybe Niebet or Dyakida would be next to get a strange youngling. Though she wasn't sure what kind of youngling there would be next, there didn't get much stranger than an albino or a mixed breed of three different races. Yes their little family was unique, but they were strong and happy. That was what mattered.
The two of them traveled for a few days, their home tree was a little ways away from Aisha and the shore, and they got to know each other. Ilyra told Briella about her favorite foods, what colors and clothing she liked to wear, what her favorite animal was and what she wanted to be when she grew up. Briella told her about the sisters that she would get to meet, about Dyakida, Niebet and Maya. She told her about the youngling that she would be growing up with, and the Elder that would help advise her as she got older.
They talked about what kind of fruit grew up around their house, and how far Ilyra would be able to go away from the house. The two of them argued a little over that, Ilyra didn't like boundaries, but Briella knew that she had to be the mother and put her foot down. It wasn't fun, and Ilyra said that she would run away at one point, but in the end Briella won and Ilyra agreed to her rules. She even admitted to Briella that that was further than her old mother would let her go, plus Briella said that she would go places with her, and her old mother never went anywhere with her. She just kept her at home.
As they neared the tree Briella became nervous, excited, and many other emotions all at once. "Okay Ilyra, ready to be welcomed home?" she said with a smile as she squeezed her daughters hand. Taking a few steps so that she would be easily seen from anywhere in their tree Briella looked at her daughter one more time before raising her voice to call upon her sisters. "Dya, Maya, Nibet, Elder! I have some news for you, and someone I want you to meet!"
