It was only a matter of time before she’d get caught for her actions, and Gwendolyn Caspian, St. Mag’s escapist extraordinaire, knew that there would be a time that she would have to pay the price. Given the week she’s had, she almost thought she’d welcome the normalcy that came with returning to class, only to be dragged out of first hour and straight into the priest’s office (quite reluctantly so) and her list of ‘crimes’ read out to her. ’With the way they’re responding to this, you’d think I was a hardened criminal…’ It was one of the many thoughts that popped in her head throughout the lecture, and she was at least polite enough to sit and wait, patiently for once, for the priest to finish before she retaliated with a snide comment at the end. “It was a pretty fun experience, to say the least!” Of course her sense of humor was again underappreciated, and Gwen said nothing as punishment was carried out. In truth, she got off lucky this time. She had to go into the church and wipe all of the bibles clean, though this time she’d be under heavy guard, and who else to be her guard besides the one nun that repeatedly thwarted her plans of escape, who always knew where to find her. Always. “Sister Jeanne,” Gwen said, hiding a sneer behind that forced polite smile as she was greeted by the deceivably young nun that patiently waited for her at the double doors. The dark haired, dark eyed nun’s smile was polite, but behind it, Gwen expected that there was some smugness there, as though she were the one that suggested this punishment. Knowing Sister Jeanne, it was highly likely. “Little Lynn,” Sister Jeanne said right back, no hint of anger or malice in her kindly voice, though Gwen wasn’t fooled in the least. She merely knew the young nun to hide her emotions and true intentions all too well, and there was no point in drawing this ordeal out any longer. Gwen walked right past her and immediately got to work, and Sister Jeanne was able to call her out on that. “You seem eager to start today. I suspect it’s just to avoid me, isn’t it?” “Whatever do you mean, Sister? Maybe I actually learned my lesson today, did you ever think of that?” Gwen said, grabbing the alcohol wipes and working on the pews in the back first, not even bothering with gloves. What did she fear of germs, when given what she’s faced this week? She grabbed the first bible and took a seat, wiping it clean and keeping her back turned to Sister Jeanne and making it clear that she simply didn’t want to talk to her today. She simply had other things on her mind, and surprisingly enough, Sister Jeanne sensed this. “I’ll be here to watch you and in case you want to talk.” “Don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to try escaping today,” Gwen said, rubbing the bible feverishly and trying to focus more on the friends she had met this week, the strange occurrences (and the nice looking young man she had danced with) at the rave party, and not on how people should wash their hands before rubbing their grimy hands on the bibles. “Besides, this isn’t so bad. Gives me time to think about stuff…” “Don’t let your mind wonder too far,” Sister Jeanne warned, though it was likely to fall on deaf ears, when involving Gwen. “The priest will want those bibles shining like the sun when mass lets in.” “Okay…” Gwen said halfheartedly, her mind already wandering to far off places. There were so many thing to discover about Destiny City and its inhabitants. ’First order of business after cleaning these filthy things… finding how what the hell a Senshi is.’Word count: 643

[SOLO] Rave parties will drain you (Gwendolyn)It was the strangest phenomenon, to be returning home from a party, tired and exhausted, and yet not a single ounce of alcohol was consumed. Gwendolyn Caspian had talked with other people and danced, yet she dragged her feet as though they were nothing but lead weighing them down. She wasn’t necessarily a lazy person. In fact, Gwen prided herself in being very physically active, despite the amount of video games she played (no doubt most of that activity came from running and only a fraction of it came from gymnastics and P.E.). And it hadn’t been that long since she danced, though this was her first excursion at a rave party… Gwen was exhausted, cranky, and yet she loved every minute of that dance. Even with the crowd constantly bumping into her, the loud music and seizure inducing lights, Gwen would not have given up that experience for anything. Her exhaustion must have shown through the minute Madelyn had opened the door, as a look of concern overtook her features, and her first question was typical for someone addressing someone who was walking in at three in the morning. “How much did you drink?” “Nothing… I’m fifteen years old, Maddy,” Gwen said, indignantly and silently regretting that fact. To think, the one moment where they didn’t card her and she didn’t take the bait, but she recalled being too tired to even think of ordering a drink. Not that she’d know what she’d want; she knew absolutely nothing about mixing drinks and didn’t know the difference between rum and tequila. Not exactly something she wanted to test, after the night she had. “I had water, and peanuts.” Madelyn motioned to the table, her ‘mother mode’ turned on immediately. “I can make you a sandwich. Wheat or white?” Gwen shook her head, the mere thought of food escaping her in lieu of the bigger desire. “I’m not hungry… just tired.” ’Bed sounds really good right about now…’ Gwen thought to herself, trying not to rub her eyes as her sister followed her to her bedroom, and she didn’t say a word, dropping her basket and falling face first on the bed, Dorothy costume still on and all. The only movement that came out of her was to move her head sideways so that she could breathe, and she stared out the window, looking past the buildings and skyline and at the moon. ’Maybe if I sleep, I’ll dream about that guy…Madelyn sat on the free part of the mattress, the shift breaking Gwen’s concentration and she began to work on removing the costume, starting with the sequined ruby slippers. Now that the initial concern was gone, Madelyn began assaulting her with questions, much like an older sibling had a want to do, even though all Gwen wanted to do was sleep. “So, how did it go? Did you meet anyone new?” “It was a rave… there were lots of new people…” Gwen mumbled, but she wasn’t in the mood to get in a tussle with her sister, not when she couldn’t win. She was just too tired. She changed her tune, just as the obese little rat finally poked his head out of his igloo and sniffed around, now that it had the familiar scent of his owner present in the room again. “Met a girl with really nice eyes… they glowed in the dark, like a cat, but I said raccoon… wasn’t thinking. She used to go to St. Mag’s… but not anymore…” She remembered the girl in question, knowing that Madelyn wouldn’t have recognized her as she never attended the Catholic school herself, and she still envied those eyes, or the rave lights’ effects on the eyes, as she carried on. This time, she spoke with a smile, even as Madelyn began to untie the bows and undo her braids. “Then there was a guy… maybe my age, short, but handsome… danced with him for a bit. It was great…” “Oh, so the might Lynn now has a crush?” Gwen laughed it off. “He either has a girlfriend that didn’t come… or maybe gay… I wouldn’t stand a chance with him, I think…” That didn’t stop the blush from brightening her pale cheeks, bringing out the black markings all the more. “Still… it was nice. He was nice… may never see him again anyway… but it was still great… then some dark skinned girl bumped into me... don't remember much else, too tired... so gorged out on water and peanuts at the bar...” She could feel her eyelids drooping, the vision of the moon and the stars in the sky beginning to grow dark and fade away. Then, just before sleep took the drained girl, she mumbled, a hint of anger evident even as sleep whisked her way. “Dammit… didn’t get his name… idiot…” (Word count: 783)

[FLU-S] Some have dogs, I have a rat (Gwendolyn)Life wasn’t fair. It just simply wasn’t fair. The week that Gwendolyn Caspian had discovered her destiny as Sailor Tsui, Senshi of Tigers, was the same week that she HAD to come down with a damned flu. Perhaps it was from that meteor that fell during the picnic, or even just being outside when she wasn’t ready for it, but whatever its origin, Gwen had discovered that her illness was a double edged sword. On one hand, she didn’t have to go to school, and that alone was a plus! No teachers, no class work though a classmate would be bringing her homework to her every night (not that Gwen would do it until the very last minute anyways), and especially no Sister Jeanne to get on her case. Unfortunately, this also meant that her overprotective older sister wouldn’t let her do ANYTHING. This meant going outside, watching TV, playing her video games, which that alone was killer enough, and even if she was caught going down the stairs to get some water, Madelyn would come charging from the living room and chase her back up the stairs and straight into bed. Gwen wasn’t entirely ungrateful for her sister’s concern, but she couldn’t stand being smothered, and she definitely couldn’t stand being bored. That’s what got her more than the sickness itself was being cooped up in a bed and not having anything to do! Especially when there was a million other things that she could be doing right now… life simply wasn’t fair. The familiar chatter of teeth caught her attention, and Gwen stopped sulking long enough to look at the rat that was obsessively chewing on the bars. On a normal day, Gwen would have been annoyed by this behavior, but today was different, and she immediately beamed. “Aw, you’re upset that I’m sick aren’t you, Micah?” Micah, the obese fancy rat, could not say anything coherent in return, but he did stop his frantic chewing at the sound of Gwen’s voice, meaning that he had gotten her attention. He clung to the bars with his tiny paws, poking his ever-sniffling nose through the bars and looking dead at her, letting Gwen know that he wanted to come out of the cage. Unable to say no to an animal, especially one with as cute as a face as that, Gwen snuck out of her bed and silently opened the cage door, in fear of Maddy going nuts and forbidding her to do even that. The rat was so big that he took up both hands, and just as quietly as she snuck out of bed, she snuck back under the blankets, carrying Micah on her shoulders and allowing him to explore the bed. “At least I have you to talk to… and the best part is, I can tell you everything that’s happened this week without having to worry about you blabbing it out to everyone.” Gwen said, watching the little rat scurry about, every so often coming back to her and allowing her to pet him. “Unless there are rats that can talk too, but I’m sure Pippin would have warned me about that.” At the mention of Pippin’s name, the rat paused and looked up at her, but only for a moment before he began to bathe. Gwen sighed, allowing the fat rat to clean himself as she babbled on, making sure to talk softly in case she had to listen for Maddy coming up the stairs. “It’s all so weird, Micah… you know, just a week ago, I was doing my usual thing. Trying to break out of school, take a personal day and scout around the other schools… then it all just changed. Next thing I know, I’m being attacked by monsters, saved by those Sailor Senshi… and now, I –am- one.” Micah paused from his bathing and sneezed, looking up at his owner with bright, brown eyes, and Gwen chuckled softly. “And now I’m sick. Some super hero I am… but it’s okay. I’ll be fine soon, and I’ll be on my first patrol soon. Fighting youma, crime… fighting for the White Moon court. I’ll have to bring Pippin in and ask him all these things, but I’m not sure where to start. Well… besides feeling better, of course.” The obese rat listened intently to his owner’s voice, even if he couldn’t understand the words or their meaning, and sometimes that’s all the Gwen needed. She held Micah in her hands and drew him close, nuzzling her cheek against his fur and tucking further into the blankets. She usually allowed Micah to have free reign, even if she slept, as she knew that he’d never travel too far away from her. “I’ll get to work on that first… which means it’s time for sleep. Behave now...” What else could Micah do but wriggle his nose and hiff? The rat seemed content with the idea of his owner being home, even at the expense of her health; it was awfully lonely in that cage without another rat, or animal, to interact with. Word count: 848

[FLU-S] A rough lesson... (Tsui/Gwen)Defeat was a hard word to swallow for Sailor Tsui, even harder given the fact that it wasn’t even a close fight in the end. The trek home was done in silence, but if one could have had an insight into the inner workings of her mind, they would have definitely knew that it was NOT so quiet in there. No, much of the trip back home was spent with mental arguments to herself, unanswered questions, and finding some ways to patch up her bruised ego, though that in itself was a hard task to do. Her ego was enraged that she had walked away from the fight, but her common sense had told her that she did the right thing. As much as she didn’t want to acknowledge it, Super Sailor Remarque was more experienced, stronger, and in every meaning of the word, better, than her, and of course, this moment of clarity hits her after getting her butt handed to her. She could have been killed tonight, and yet, she was spared, and that was the part that drove the wound even deeper. She was spared, and now, she felt conflicted. Tsui leaned against the wall of the alleyway she was walking through, taking a moment to relieve some pressure from her ankle as she had injured it in the fight (thanks to her own abrasive assault). Her mind raced, and once the ball got rolling, it kept going. Apparently there was a schism between the Senshi… the White Moon Court, in which she was a part of, and the Dark Mirror Court, in which Remarque had insisted was the correct side. Tsui was never a fan of politics, even in her civilian life. It was all too heavy, too complicated. People getting emotional over conflicting opinions and neither side wanting to admit they were right or wrong. To think, that would be following her here in her new life as a Senshi of the White Moon Court. “He says our leader’s abandoned us…” Tsui told herself, continuing her trek back to her apartment complex in solitude, for once hoping that she wouldn’t run into a Youma, a Negaverse lieutenant or another Dark Mirror Senshi along the way. She had exhausted herself already in the last fight and she didn’t think she’d have enough energy or the balance to perform another Tiger Fist Strike. So, she relied on another aspect of her sphere to pull her through, stealthing her way from one shadow to another and waiting until she was closer to her apartment complex before powering down. She didn’t want to get caught by a civilian… “How does he know?” But he did raise a good point. Where was their leader? Where did she go, and why? Sailor Tsui was certain that there had been a good reason for her absence, but would it have hurt to leave a message for her subjects? Did the White Moon Court just not believe in leaving a note on the fridge or something? She knew she shouldn’t allow his words to dig too deep; that’s probably what he wanted, and like hell Tsui would give him the satisfaction of allowing him to win in that front. Remarque may have beaten her in a fight, but he’d never truly defeat her by tricking her into switching sides. Tsui had already made a promise to others that she’d fight along side the White Moon Court, and she was never the type to go back on her word. “Could have used their help though…” Tsui chuckled aloud to herself, thankful to see her apartment complex in sight now and immediately making her way towards the back where the landlord kept the tool shed. It was far too late at night for there to be others there, and it’d be the perfect place to power down without anyone seeing her, and to her luck it was unlocked (meaning that the landlord was probably drunk… again…). She took one last peek through the windows, before pressing the button on her henshin pen and allowing the changes to take place. Her sickness and injuries remained, but at least she could fib her way out of her sister’s inquiries about her twisted ankle, say that she was goofing around and lost her balance… Speaking of her sister, Maddy was already standing in the doorway, hands on hip and an angered look on her face. And yet, Gwen had openly welcomed the scorn, breaking past the threshold and giving her sister an uncharacteristic hug, cutting off whatever she had to say within seconds. She’d gladly accept any punishment for breaking curfew, over the possibility of getting killed by a Dark Mirror Senshi or anything else out there. She was determined to get stronger and find out more about the White Moon Court, and what could have possibly happened to their leader. ’She hasn’t abandoned us… she couldn’t have abandoned us… I’ll prove him wrong.’(World count: 826
