It was only a matter of time before she’d get caught for her actions, and Gwendolyn Caspian, St. Mag’s escapist extraordinaire, knew that there would be a time that she would have to pay the price. Given the week she’s had, she almost thought she’d welcome the normalcy that came with returning to class, only to be dragged out of first hour and straight into the priest’s office (quite reluctantly so) and her list of ‘crimes’ read out to her.
’With the way they’re responding to this, you’d think I was a hardened criminal…’ It was one of the many thoughts that popped in her head throughout the lecture, and she was at least polite enough to sit and wait, patiently for once, for the priest to finish before she retaliated with a snide comment at the end. “It was a pretty fun experience, to say the least!”
Of course her sense of humor was again underappreciated, and Gwen said nothing as punishment was carried out. In truth, she got off lucky this time. She had to go into the church and wipe all of the bibles clean, though this time she’d be under heavy guard, and who else to be her guard besides the one nun that repeatedly thwarted her plans of escape, who always knew where to find her. Always.
“Sister Jeanne,” Gwend said, hiding a sneer behind that forced polite smile as she was greeted by the deceivably young nun that patiently waited for her at the double doors. The dark haired, dark eyed nun’s smile was polite, but behind it, Gwen expected that there was some smugness there, as though she were the one that suggested this punishment. Knowing Sister Jeanne, it was highly likely.
“Little Lynn,” Sister Jeanne said right back, no hint of anger or malice in her kindly voice, though Gwen wasn’t fooled in the least. She merely knew the young nun to hide her emotions and true intentions all too well, and there was no point in drawing this ordeal out any longer. Gwen walked right past her and immediately got to work, and Sister Jeanne was able to call her out on that. “You seem eager to start today. I suspect it’s just to avoid me, isn’t it?”
“Whatever do you mean, Sister? Maybe I actually learned my lesson today, did you ever think of that?” Gwen said, grabbing the alcohol wipes and working on the pews in the back first, not even bothering with gloves. What did she fear of germs, when given what she’s faced this week? She grabbed the first bible and took a seat, wiping it clean and keeping her back turned to Sister Jeanne and making it clear that she simply didn’t want to talk to her today.
She simply had other things on her mind, and surprisingly enough, Sister Jeanne sensed this. “I’ll be here to watch you and in case you want to talk.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to try escaping today,” Gwen said, rubbing the bible feverishly and trying to focus more on the friends she had met this week, the strange occurrences (and the nice looking young man she had danced with) at the rave party, and not on how people should wash their hands before rubbing their grimy hands on the bibles. “Besides, this isn’t so bad. Gives me time to think about stuff…”
“Don’t let your mind wonder too far,” Sister Jeanne warned, though it was likely to fall on deaf ears, when involving Gwen. “The priest will want those bibles shining like the sun when mass lets in.”
“Okay…” Gwen said halfheartedly, her mind already wandering to far off places. There were so many thing to discover about Destiny City and its inhabitants. ’First order of business after cleaning these filthy things… finding how what the hell a Senshi is.’
