if you be my star... I re-did my profile for the occasion. >.< filled it with glitter text and images and made the background all glittery. Needless to say, I'm very excited. edit: IT'S THEIR PARENTS! It makes sense. They don't seem devastated, but more irritated and annoyed. Their parents are stars or something, so OF COURSE they'd fall from the sky! biggrin edit#2: Read it and weep.no plot, just some excuse for an update. WHY ARE THE SPARKLES ANIMATED? D: loading my inventory is becoming painful. making avatars is distracting. D:

Wuyabi EDIT: The falling stars don't seem to be feeling well now that they're sparkling, right? What if the dust is (temporarily) going to affect our items, and eventually our avvies, in a horrible way, leading to a spring or summer event where we fight the extraterrestrial evil that mutated them in order to transform them back (and win fabulous prizes!) Sparkles... Twilight! Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight! The Scrin are seeding Gaia with Tiberium, and it's going to turn our vampires into a bunch of decadent and effete wankers!

Even though there is a technical reason for it, they seem to be basing the in-story reason for the effects around a mysterious occurence of some sort... who are they? The Zurg? Fallen gods (excluding Sen and Ove)? Some new extraterrestrial being?

Okay guys, knowing Gaia, it is just for the newblets to not get scammed because of a lack of intelligence. So, they are going to give us at least something to be excited about for a while, until we find out... no plot involved.

Taking into account all of the info so far, I'd say there's probably not going to be any plot, though I'm surprised they haven't had some sort of event or explanation for it. Perhaps they were just waiting for the sparkles to catch up with them and that's Gaia's sad excuse for such a thing. Normally, though, I wouldn't think that they would have a minicomic just to explain away another supposedly "convenient" change to the site.
If it is plot, though, which I highly doubt, I'd be willing to bet on their parents, since I don't see this being connected to anything else right now. So a new cliffhanger for a new non-existent plot...and I had SO hoped it would be a return of the Zurg in the past few. :/ Je suis tres emo. But, we'll have to wait and see, I suppose.
As for the change itself, the sparkling is pissing me off, and I'm hardly even here anymore. Went to inventory to check it out, and it does actually slow the page down enough that clicking an item takes longer to load, and on some of the smaller ones the item icon itself is a little more difficult to see...which for mostly blind folks like myself is a bigger pain in the arse than just tiny icons. -.- I hope this change is temporary, really. It may help the newbs, but as I'm sure I've said a hundred times over, the site changes seem to only be inconveniencing to some of the rest of us. Not meaning to speak for others on this, but I'm just saying...
