Ideas come to me in all sorts of situations. I got an idea for a religious short story while out on a boat. One of, in my opinion, my best short stories came to me in a dream. Some of my ideas come to me at not-so-opportune times, like during a lecture when I get side-tracked, but that used to be my main idea bank right there. It's not anymore, and I don't know if that's good or bad. ...My main book series though... I'm looking for a good place to find a specific time and area to write. Hopefully, I will find it soon.

I write the best when I'm sitting in a classroom. This is detrimental to me, however, because the class is never one meant for writing. If I'm stuck on a part, though, all I have to do is take it to class with my, pay half attention to the professor, and by the end of the hour I'm finished.
I also write well at home, though. That's a fact that is killing me, being away for college and all. I miss my woods, they've been replaced with red brick and misplaced sprinklers ...

Well my best times change depending on my time in life..
It used to be during boring times in class .. since I can't do more than jot down ideas at work I have to wait when I get inspiration there u.u
But! It seems in the evening/night/early morning is generally the best for me. It's probably the quiet around that helps the best. My mind can just wander no matter what else is going on around me.

I'm pretty good at keeping long segments of story idea in my head until I have an opportunity to type it up on my computer, but I always carry around a small notebook so that I can write down ideas no matter where I am. I have been known to write dialogue while sitting at red lights.

I am one of many night-time writers.
Although, i recently aquired an iPhone, so I can now write at any time of day. (It's like a mini-computer!!)
But i still write at night before i sleep because it makes me forget about the stress of the day, since i'm ordering my characters into there emotions and scenes and such (I wonder if they're planning a revolt..?)
I can see that one right now.
Amirra: Tonight, we attack the dreaded creator!!!

I am also a night writer. I find that things: stories, rants, etc., come best when I should be sleeping. Or otherwise doing something else. I also write on the bus or when I think the class I am in is dull and stupid.
I always get my best thoughts at the most inopportune times, like in the shower, when I am trying to sleep, or if I am someplace where I do not have a pen and paper. Then when I am done with the task, I forget half of what I came up with. -_-
I have been getting better at continuously repeating, though, so I can hold onto an idea for a day or two if needbe.

I am also a night-time writer. My best ideas hit about nine or ten. But, I have also been known to write entire epic, bloody battle sequences in classes. People see me writing and say "is that some fairytale" or my fav. new one: "Are you making out with some hot prince?" They laugh, I just look up and state comely "No, my main character is in the process of cutting up a gladiator while he's bleeding from six inch gashes." It is so amusing to see them just walk away.

I write best after midnight and into the morning like 2:00-3:00 am, which probably isn't good because I like my sleep. =)
I also get struck with inspiration around 1:00 pm while I'm still in school and have no time to write.... sweatdrop

I usually write best in the afternoon or night. It depends on how tired I am at the time. 3nodding

I usually write best when everyone in the house is asleep when I am listening to music.

I write best at four in the morning. When I am dead tired. When everything is a blur and I'm so tired, so exhausted, that it hurts. When my eyes feel like they are dead and I start to see things.
When the sun starts rising, then, and I can hear the birds chirp. And my father tells me to go to bed-- and I can't comprehend anything. That is when I am most like myself, as well.
Cold, a b***h, emotionless, nor do I talk. I like those times... the few times I can be myself.

How can you write when you don't get any sleep at all? I wake up really early to write. I'm tired, but I've just woken up, so the day's activities haven't clogged up my brain yet. I wrote thousands of words a day like that.

" I write my latest story best after a night at the bar. I don't drink usually but the atmosphere is just so upbeat when I go. Don't get me wrong I do go when there are the depressed people but I usually know the DJ and he makes it fun for my group of friends, it inspires me by watching people interact in general. I tend to always carry around a notebook as well and conjure up some amazing short story ideas. Which reminds me I should probably work on some of those... "
