Good to see you back 3nodding . I hope you're feeling better now and that you aren't coming on even though you're still sick?

Alright, I'm tackling things out of order because it's easier for me. I hope it doesn't trouble you too much sweatdrop .

I see your point about reading emotions. If that's the case, then could I start out without any such abilities and then have it progress to the point where Nix is capable of reading other people's actions? For instance, at first she completely sucks, even more than the average person, at reading others because she has no memory of interacting with others. Then, as she ranks up, she progresses to the average amount one human can read from another human before peaking at the point that I demonstrated in my rp sample and described in my talent. Would that work? Or is that still a no? I figured that at least perceptiveness could be something that could be kept without memories. Then, from there, I'd just build up the experience to use that perceptiveness.

As for hearing. Obviously, Nai wouldn't wear earplugs while fighting. However, wouldn't most of her bullets be shot while training? During which she will be likely to wear ear plugs? I understand that even just using guns in a battle could likely ruin hearing, so I won't try to argue for enhanced hearing, but… I really don't want to have weaker hearing of all things…. Is there no other weakness(s) I could have instead? For instance, maybe being harder to wake up than average, making her even more helpless while asleep?

I'll take out ear durability.

Still feel kinda crappy, but I'll survive smile

As far as Reading Emotions, her developing the skill as she advances in rank works for me. I'd say that's fair.

The hearing thing, of course you can choose another weakness if you'd like, but that will require you to really dig in there and find a weakness to expound upon. Her having below average hearing doesn't mean it's terrible. She'd still be able to easilly speak and understand conversation within a moderate range of her person, but the distance at which she could completely understand, without fault, a conversation, or track a sound, or be alerted to activities past mid-range (we'll say 100 feet, just as a frame of reference) she would have a much more difficult time.

As far as most of the bullets being fired in training, that's entirely up to you, but given the character and background you've made for her I doubt them majority of the rounds she's fire and had fired on her were done so in training. If that's the case, she'd be much more wet behind the ears when it comes to her craft. IF you want to develop the traits that come with experience and skill, you can't ignore the side effects the lifestyle would

Well, you can. But like I said, if you want to choose another weakness you're going to have to develop one and run it by me.

Alright, will this progression for reading be alright or should I stretch it out more?

  • Up until adept rank, Nix will be more clueless about reading others than the normal person, with her time as a student being the worst.
  • At adept rank, Nix will technically be more clueless than the normal person, but with the right senses, she's able to observe enough cues from the bodies of others to appear, for the most part, on the same level as the average citizen.
  • At journeyman rank, Nix will have been gained enough memories to catch up with those her age. Although, she has yet to recognize the more subtle cues that'll allow her to read further into people during a social situation. However, battle-related cues (ex: preparation for a fight, sneak attack) can be recognized.
  • Expert rank and onwards is when Nix's perceptiveness reaches its max. At this point, she has had enough exposure to be able to use her over-sensitive senses to read the general emotions of those around her almost automatically.

As for possible weaknesses. Um.... How are either of these?

  • Deep sleeper. Either obvious physical contact (a simple touch won't do) or a loud noise is needed to wake Nix up.
  • Extra pain. Nix's sensitivity to touch causes her to feel slightly more pain from attacks. Not to the point where it's unbearable, but it is just noticeably more than average.

KAge, the rank progression looks good, but up until Adept state that she is clueless, and then the next rank say that she's as clueless as others, but able to pick up on certain queues. The word "technically" tends to allow room for a workaround. I'm not in any way implying you'd attempt such a thing, but it's removal insures everyone's on the same page 3nodding Tha aside, the rest looks good!

As for the weaknesses, extra pain isn't a bad one, but how would it be applicable in battle? How would it do anything except make her hurt more? Are we talking an additional rank of damage that isn't lethal, but non-lethal nerve based as she sustains damage or does it just hurt more?

Deep sleeper is also a good one, but you're going to have to commit to it more if you want it to be a weakness for the talent. If she doesn't wake up to being slightly touched (if someone were to plant an object on her in her sleep, draw offensive things on her face, etc razz ) or anything short of being physically lifted, pushed or otherwise major physical contact, and loud percussive noises, that would be better. That being said, if this is going to be the weakness of your choosing you need to keep track of her action and make sure you make her sleep IC. I'm sure htat wouldn't be a problem though.

Changed "technically" to "still." Is that better?

Wait.... What does "non-lethal nerve based as she sustains damage" mean sweatdrop ? I was sort of thinking that it just hurts more....

Alright major physical contact and loud noises I'm good with. What does "IC" mean, though?

Yeah, the change to still works fine.

Ignore the nerve damage bit, I really just meant non-lethal damage.Don't worry about that bit though. I meant more along the line of she might only take Rank C physical damage, but to her it feels like she took a Rank B blow. So mentally she feels more injured than she is, meaning she'd either take a fall earlier or withdraw because she feels much more wounded than she really is.

And bingo to the sleep changes! 3nodding Does the bit about her feeling more pain make more sense now?

Yes, the pain weakness makes more sense, now, thank you whee .

Do I need both the sleep weakness and the pain weakness, or can I choose just one?

Both, please. And remember that you can also take that twitch reflex strength as well, but it doesn't improve her aim.

Rpc Name: Blood Iben'la Ahad

Rpc Profile Link: Blood

Your Customs Thread: Customs

Rpc Rank: Trainee

Combative Talent or Non Combative: Special

Talent Name: Jack of all Trades

Description:

"Jack of all Trades" is Bloods Enhanced ability to use more then one "Chosen Weapon". Basically she becomes a weapon master capable of specializing in many ranged and close combat weapons, with the consequence of not being able to learn any elemental skills past E-rank (she can only learn E-rank elemental skills). This increases her learning ability when learning weapon styles and how to wield different weapons (-4 posts for learning weapon skills/styles, no teacher bonuses at all). This ability also cancels out the weakness from her class about her chosen weapon being broken since she can have unlimited chosen weapons, thus when she needs to get a weapon repaired she doesn't have to re-learn how to use it. Blood also gains a +2 to her strength when in combat with her chosen weapons instead of a +1 from her "Chosen Weapon" class bonus.

Skills:

Multi-Wield
Rank: E (passive)
Description: Blood can wield many weapons in battle because of her talent, thus she can wield her weapons simultaneously together in various combinations.

Description
In her forgotten past, Nix would find the answer to quite a number of her unmatched traits, such as her natural sense for battle despite being so unwilling to fight most of the time. An emotionless gunslinger from the streets of a nation shrouded completely in darkness 24/7, Nix (or Nai as her name was back then) had been trained in both body and mind to kill as a battle slave for as long as her memory back then could remember. As a result, despite her past having been forgotten, her mind and body retain the ever-present wariness and gun reflexes it had gained through the years. Extremely perceptive and sensitive, Nix is both hard to fool and hard to sneak up on.
Strengths: Nix, while only a human, has had her senses highly honed and trained to always be at their best. Sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste are all heightened; nowhere close to the level of werebeasts or even kiranu, of course, but definitely as far as human senses with her past can go. Her sight is advanced to the point that she is able to see in the dark. No matter how much pressure she is under or how relaxed she is (excluding sleeping), if there is something that can be sensed even slightly, her brain will register and her body will react appropriately. Everything from blocking a sneak attack to changing diplomatic tactics to preparing for a fight is dealt with. In support of this increased sensitivity, Nix's reaction times to what she senses is equally abnormal. This can be most often seen when she handles a gun. The movement to take the weapon from its holster into a position with perfect (perfect as in the best that Nix can accomplish) aim requires only a moment for the girl.
Weaknesses: When Nix falls asleep, she really falls asleep. It seems that any light sleeping habits (if there were any at all to begin with) were lost. While asleep, Nix gains no benefits from her talent and is more vulnerable than the average human, being harder to wake up than the average human. Major physical contact, loud noises, or an equivalent to either of those is required for Nix to be awakened (this excludes times when Nix wakes up by her own will; as in, she planned to wake up at about a certain time after having falling asleep). Hearing, while highly trained, is actually only average thanks to the increases in hearing being negated by the damage done to her ears from the years of using guns. The reactions to what is heard are just as sensitive, but the hearing itself is only as good as a normal human's because of constantly being exposed to the sounds of gunshots in her past. The sensitive skin is both a boost and a hindrance. Nix feels more from attacks that hit her, resulting in attacks feeling as if they were 1 rank higher in power (Nix receives the same amount of physical damage as others, but her mind feels more pain). The extra pain, without any training to oppose the sensation, results in an earlier end to the battle, with the girl either falling unconscious or withdrawing earlier than her peers would. Having no memory, Nix's sensitivity has nothing to compare its observations to. As a result, while the girl is always wary, she will need time before her perceptiveness can be used to its full potential:
  • Up until adept rank, Nix will be more clueless about reading others than the normal person, with her time as a student being the worst.
  • At adept rank, Nix will still be more clueless than the normal person, but with the right senses, she's able to observe enough cues from the bodies of others to appear, for the most part, on the same level as the average citizen.

Rp Sample:
Nix looked left: there were miles of rolling hills. Nix looked right: there were miles of larger rolling hills that gradually grew into mountains. Nix looked straight, . The adept remembered deciding to take a half hour nap on a pile of hay that was randomly, at least randomly to her, piled in a boxed platform on a street. The randomness (although, the placement seemed random only to Nix) itself would probably have made most people suspicious, but Nix was unfazed by it as, to her, a lot of things that were actually common seemed completely new, bizarre, and random to the girl. The hay was soft and felt good to sleep in, what did the girl have to suspicious of? Then, after falling asleep, she had awakened a half hour later like she had planned, but the stone street from before had become a dirt road that the boxed platform and pile of hay were bumping over. The jostling movement would have caused nearly anyone to awaken, anyone but Nix, but the girl wasn't worried about that. She knew that unless it was time for her to wake up, she was very hard to awaken, and judging from the faces of those that she talked to about it, such a thing was uncommon and strange. No, what she didn't get is why the boxed platform that made such a comfortable bed of hay was now moving.

In the midst of her thoughts, the girl's ears separated a sound from the rest of the noises, a steady rhythm of clip-clops coming from the front of the platform, and her nose identified a smell that went with the sound. Her body and mind reacted at an abnormal pace as the girl climbed quite steadily over the pile of hay to see the front. Beneath her hand and between her fingers, Nix's sensitive touch felt every strand of the soft-scratchy hay and her nose could smell the fresh, wonderful smell of finely made hay. Actually, the scent was so strong that the girl's sensitive tongue could almost taste the hay in the air.

Upon reaching the top of the hay stack, Nix looked down and saw the backs of a man in a seat and two horses. Her sharp eyes picked up the textures of the man's shirt and the horse's fur. That was it, the sound and smell reminded her of the horses in the stables that were present in most towns and cities. Although, it didn't really explain why a boxed platform was now moving. "Erm," Nix ventured to ask, "excuse me?".
"Woah-ho-ho," the man turned in surprise and stopped the horses, "What do we have here? Gal, when'd you get up there? Now, I don't mind some company, but I swear you weren't up there last I checked." Despite his obvious shock, the stranger had a kind, laughing smile on his face. It was a smile that told Nix that this man was safe.
Nix couldn't blame the man for not noticing her. She had seen the bad (at least, in the girl's opinion, the expressions usually meant something bad) faces of those that saw her beginning to nap in the cart and so before falling completely asleep, the girl had dug herself into the hay, keeping anyone from noticing her until they took off the hay. The girl answered the kind man's question first before asking her question, "I was napping here for about a half and hour. Back then, I'm certain I was in the city, but now I'm not. Mister, could you please explain to me why this platform of hay is moving?".
The famer's expression became more bewildered, it was a sign that the girl knew well: it meant that she had once more asked for something that was common knowledge. "Why, this platform, as you called it, is a cart. Although, I do suppose it could be called a platform? It sorts of is? As for this here hay. Well, I'm taking it all back to my farm," the shock had completely wiped the smile from the farmer's face, but it remained kind. Suddenly, he broke out into loud, good-hearted laughter, "Why, missy, don't you tell me that you don't know what a cart is?". There was no taunting or teasing in the tone. Nix could tell that the man's laugh came at the absurdity of the situation, kind of like how he would laugh if a pig were to suddenly fly.
"Ah, a cart," Nix replied as she thought through it. She felt comfortable in this man's presence. Sure, he was laughing at her for her misunderstanding, but it was one of the kinder approaches to her naivety. Nix nodded as she thought through, "Yes, that makes sense. How could I have not realized?..."
"Well, I assume you didn't expect to be moved now, did you?" the farmer asked, eyes crinkled with a large smile, as he tipped the hat he wore on his head, "Would you like me to take you back?".
Nix looked up, her eyes had been staring at the hay as she thought and mumbled to herself, at the farmer's voice. She replied good-naturedly, "Oh, no, it's quite alright. Besides, I had been trying to decide where to head next. I guess I'll simply head in this direction with you?". Nix liked this farmer. He was simple in a good way. She couldn't really explain it, but he was happy, and she was sure that he wouldn't say no to letting her join him for the ride.
"Sure thing," the farmer nodded, his face still sporting a large smile, "Choose a spot you like and just relax. I can take you as far as my farm." He then turned around and started the horses going again while Nix settled herself further into the top of the hay stack.

As the girl maneuvered herself, however, she felt a jolt of pain in the palm of her right hand. Her sensitive touch could feel with excruciating detail that something slender had been jabbed into the palm. "Mrghyu," was the girl's muffled statement of pain.
The farmer's voice came drifting up, "You alright up there?" but he couldn't completely turn around because he was controlling the cart.
"Mhm," was Nix's half-hearted reply, which the farmer accepted without question. Knowing her body, the girl figured that she hadn't suffered all that much damage. She was right. Despite it feeling as if someone had forcibly stuck a needle into her palm with the intent to pierce through it completely, all she had gotten was a small splinter embedded less than a quarter of an inch into her skin. Carefully, the girl closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. Then, she carefully gripped the splinter and with one sharp jerk pulled it out. Taking out the splinter wasn't nearly as bad as having it jabbed in, but it still made Nix flinch and grit her teeth from the pain.

BAM! Approved, next great action heroine! Now get in here and start kicking a**!

Alright, will do, but it'll need to wait. The latest version of my profile, which I hadn't posted up yet, is on my other computer. I don't have access to that computer until about two weeks from now sweatdrop ....

Rp Sample: (will make one if needed.)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you here. As per our previous discussion, please make the revisions of removing hte additional bonus Blood gets from using these weapons, add that she is unable to use Elemental Skills, but keep the fact that she has an unlimited number of favored weapons. Something to consider for your ranged weapons is to contribute the +1 strength bonus to the projectile's speed instead, since weapons like the Grapple Gauntlet don't deal additional damage based on strength.
