→ ✛ I hate it so much when i use to get asked that!My friends use to all be up in my case cause when i looked up yaoi(mostly all my friends are guys so bare with me).Even if i told them that i would never go that way they still thought i did cause i never look up a straight paring when their around me.Though,i guess now they don't care and see my interest all right and don't get as grossed out when they see my pictures on my USB.
That's not to say that i don't get it from the rest of my school when i'm not with my friends.✛ ←

I've heard this warped ideology before, and it still baffles me. I have friends who are bi and lesbian that are dating and even they say it makes no sense. XD
I dunno, maybe the guy (I'm assuming it was a man) who coined the idea said it out of sheer embarrassment. I'm reminded of the chapter in the FMA manga where Ed and Ling compared their height and Ed, being the shorter of the two, accused Ling of being an "ugly face" to change the subject. Mayhaps when said person realized that, like he enjoyed watching two women, a woman friend he knew liked seeing two guys and, out of embarrassment, declared her a lesbian to change the subject.
Or I'm reading too much into something silly. sweatdrop

Lesbian for reading Yaoi?
Okay, maybe I'm stupid or that just makes absolutely no sense. I could understand the assumption if it was Yuri...
I'm not going think a guy is gay for looking up Yuri. Why would it be the case for girls who look up Yaoi?
Oh well. Whatever. Some people just don't think about what they say before it comes out, I guess.

I just don't get where people even begin to get these ideas from. How exactly does a girl looking at male/male make her a lesbian? It frustrates me that men in our society looking at girl/girl is acceptable but women looking at male/male is not. I think what's even worse are the parents who look down on their children for liking yaoi or yuri. It's not wrong for people to be attracted to those things, it's really not that different from people choosing to watch porn because they enjoy it. I could rant for hours about something like this because the opposing side really has no basis to stand on.

its a natural sense of insecurity for guys when their manhood/pride is in danger, like a mother protecting her child - natural sense of danger. its imprinted in the DNA, it cant be washed out.
btw, newbie question: are there any guys in this guild at all? i have yet to see any

I'm a lesbian but I read yaoi, purely because the plot lines are way cuter. Most female writers that do yaoi tailor it towards girls, which means it is cute, fluff, romance, angst, and or pretty pictures. Yuri that isn't badly drawn porn by guys is hard to find.

princessMeep It's just dumb. Either ignore them or point out that a lesbian wouldn't really want to watch two guys get it on. i agree. 3nodding

My bro's friend is a lesbian who likes yaoi. The thing is, EVERYONE around me thinks that's weird. "She likes girls, so she shouldn't like watching guys make out" is their logic. Wtf. I don't even. So apparently my friends and brother now have the right to decide whether a lesbian is allowed to like yaoi or not. Oh yes, I'm pissed.
And just for the records, I watch yuri and am not a lesbian. WHOA!
(opposite of OP's problem, but still relevant)
EDIT: After reading a few posts, it seems my friends and brother aren't the only ones who think that way. Wow. Guild members, I am disappoint.

I'm pan, although i do favor women more, so I wouldn't mind being asked that. What gets me upset is when I hear this. "Are you les?", I hear, "How can you like that if you're straight?" Gawd there are so many idiots out there. I like it because it shows two hot bishies together... I like Yuri too, but i favor yaoi, since there seems a little more action can happen with it.

klausolas Can someone please explain to me why it is that If a guy reads a anything about two girls having sex he's straight if a little perverted but if I a girl read about two guys having sex I'm asked if I'm a lesbian. (Nothing against lesbians it's just been pissing me off) huh thats not right. they should probably think your straight because you read it.

It would make more sense if you were reading yuri perhaps but yaoi? They world never ceases to amaze me with how dumb it's people are...
