☆ ☆【Moving over towards one of the bookshelves now, Zoey leaned in and peered a bit closer. ”They sure do like their books too… Wonder if there’s anythin’ actually worth readin’,” she muttered, her eyes roaming over the many books contained inside, making note of their titles. Some of them had fantastical sounding names such as Staff of Eternity, Soldier of the North, and Escaping Time, others appeared to be horror titles like Horrors in the Attic, Bats and Beasts, and The Phantom Library… All in all, there were quite a few different titles and genres to choose from. Zoey noticed one book in particular sticking out a bit more from the shelf than the rest, as if it was practically demanding to be chosen over the rest of the selections. Humming curiously, the woman slowly eased the book out from its place, a small tome bound in worn leather, pages yellowing at the edges, and a singular page that appeared to have been dog-eared, likely by whoever had been reading it previously even though it looked like it hadn’t been read in years. The cover of the book had no title of any sort printed on either the front or the spine, strangely enough. ”Alright, let’s take a look then,” she said with a shrug, opening the book to the already bookmarked page to see what the contents were.”Ooo, can you read me a story?”Eir suddenly chimed in as she noticed Zoey opening the book, wondering if maybe it contained a collection of fairytales or assorted fantastical stories. She could certainly use something nice and entertaining to take her mind off the oppressive atmosphere of being in a haunted house.
”Eh? Well, I guess,” Zoey said with a small smile and a nod, her eyes examining the dog-eared page as she held it open with one thumb, ”Apparently this is called ‘A Funny Story’…” She took a moment to clear her throat before starting to read. ”Once upon a time, there was a rich man who was pullin' along a large cart full of treasure. Unfortunately, at some point his cart had broken down in the woods, but along came a hunter and his dog who happened to be passin' through,” she read aloud, chuckling softly under her breath as Eir took a seat at her feet, listening attentively, ”The rich man begged the hunter to keep a close eye on his cart, fearin' it would be targeted by bandits, and the hunter was glad to accept the task at hand. While the rich man went to get a new cart, the hunter and his dog kept watch.” It seemed pretty harmless and lighthearted so far, though Zoey couldn’t help but have a bit of a bad feeling about this. Nonetheless, she kept reading, ”Time went by, and soon it grew dark as night fell. The hunter grew worried for his elderly mother who was alone at home, and commanded his dog to keep watch over the cart while he went home to check on her. When the rich man returned with his new cart, he saw the dog guardin' the cart. Happy and relieved, the rich man decided to reward the dog and his master, so he gave the dog a silver coin to carry in his mouth. The dog ran back home and brought the silver coin to his master, but upon seein' it the hunter suddenly became furious. ‘I told ya to guard the cart, and what did ya do? Ya stole from it!’ So the hunter killed the dog.” Zoey blinked in disbelief as she finished the story, that certainly got dark pretty quickly… and it didn’t look like the story continued any further from there. Suddenly, a chorus of uproarious laughter sounded from within the room at various volumes, as if an entire studio audience had been listening in on it even though there was clearly no one else in the room with them. Zoey rolled her eyes as the laughter petered out after a few seconds, absently flipping through the book to see if there was anything else only to find that all other pages besides the bookmarked one were completely blank.”That… wasn’t a funny story at all,”Eir remarked with a frown, having been a bit too engrossed in the story to really be scared by the sudden disembodied laughter,”That story was awful!”Zoey shook her head with a grimace, slamming the book closed and pushing it back into the empty space on the shelf where it belonged. ”Let’s just move on, I think we’ve done more than enough here,” she said, gesturing for Eir and Torgeir to come along as they headed out through the second door and back into the hall. Good thing too, it looked like the final door that would lead them up towards the third floor was just down the hall from here. Of course, Zoey expected to have to solve another one of Orpheus’s riddles before they could move on, but she was more than ready for the challenge this time.】☆ ☆

Chima, who had started chewing on his paw, sputtered a laugh. [ "Niji's not a psychic type. Um. Or is he?" ] Chima never really thought about what what type Niji was. He just knew he was strong.
[ "Water. He's a water type." ] Gekkit looked towards Arezu, who was walking around trying different pumpkins. [ "He's like the leader. In a different way from Arezu." ] He wasn't really sure how to explain it. He knew big sis and their brothers thought of Niji as a kind of dad, but... maybe it was because he had met Niji and Arezu at the same time, but he didn't quite feel that way.

Arezu sighed, flicking some goop from the last pumpkin off. There'd better be some wet wipes or something at the end of this. "Sort of. Flurry is... actually a wispard. His name is McFlurry and I did not name him." Stupid strange dude giving her pokemon stupid names. "Sham's sort of... like a skinny arcanine?" she pointed at Shiisa, whose big head was poking through the door leading back the way they'd come. "Fluffy, white, with these long whisker things on his face."
While it wasn't strange talking with a pokemon (in fact, it felt pretty natural), there was something different about talking to someone else's pokemon. Well, that and Koda did have a really weird voice. "Hey Koda, your voice... is it like that because of the spirits, ghosts, you've fought?" Maybe Flurry would be able to speak if he fought more spirits?

Jay may have been admonishing Koda, but it made Arezu feel sheepish for answering the questions without thinking. Still, she made her way over to Jay, using the pumpkins as guides to keep from walking into something. "Whoever made this place has to be laughing at us right now," she commented. She could just barely make out the outline of what he held in the glow of the pumpkin.
"I haven't found one yet." There was nothing obvious about how Jay's pumpking looked compared to the others. Only way for it was to just shove her hand in more pumpkins. "Gotta say, I'm glad there's someone else here to split these things with." It shouldn't be long before they found the second part, even if Hakuren was being suspiciously unhelpful.

Maybe other pokemon could, too...? That... ice cat was talking to Chima and Gekkit's trainer, and he wasn't sure whether he was psychic, either. But he was also using more voices or something, too... it was weird. He sat down with some interest as Gekkit continued, explaining their... well, he could only think of it as roles, which was odd, given his discussion with Rawly before... "Your leader... like he's in charge? Like in things not realting to battling and stuff?" he asked, looking between the two, trying to clarify what they meant.

Jay hated to interrupt the conversation, but after a bit of searching, the last piece was found, and he had to cut in. "Hey, think I hear a door over there. You ready t'move on?" he asked, moving towards the exit, with Koda's help. The wispard was more interested in talking to Arezu about her pokemon, but he relented to moving away for a moment to assist Jay. The cowboy was smiling a bit as he pushed the door open, adding, "I dunno if they're laughin' too hard. Ain't like we were trippin' 'n spillin' that stuff on ourselves, at least, right?" in a good natured, joking attempt to lighten the mood a bit more.
Koda lingered by the doorway to respond to his earlier conversation with Arezu, though. "You didn't name your pokemon? Did he name himself?" he asked curiously. He knew that Jay had a few pokemon that had names before, and he had talked to him about his name to decide on it, rather than just naming him without any input. He looked thoughtfully back at Shiisa at the description, tail sweeping through the air, and coiling behind him. "Like a skinny arcanine...? Are their heads skinnier too?" he asked, noticing just how large Shiisa was. It would be weird if their heads were still that big with skinny bodies... And long whiskers? What a pokemon to imagine...
He was pulled from his thoughts by Arezu's question, and he flicked his ear and looked up at the trainer. "Huh? Oh... Yeah. I guess. They... they are part of me, i guess, now.... So I speak with their voices," he explained, his tone shifting slightly. It was... odd to speak of it, even though he was aware of it. He could feel them affecting him, moving his mood and his thoughts, speaking with their voices, but it didn't feel as foreign anymore. He felt... more distinct, a little less lost in them all, but well aware that there were still times, especially when he consumed a lot in a short period of time, when everything -- everyone -- started to get a little lost with one another, himself included...

Niji also seemed incessant on the idea that they knew each other, even going as far as to feign hurt that she didn't remember him. Scarlett scrunched her face up a little in thought, squinting at Niji in the dim lighting, but nothing came to mind. "Or you're a loony trying to imprint a memory I won't have. Scarlett wasn't normally so easily thrown off guard, but the combination of Niji getting in her head and distracting her along with the unexpected cubone just happened to be the right combination. On the one hand, she knew it was staged, but on the other hand it didn't take away from the fact that it was more extreme and psychological than Scarlett had expected. There was nothing jumping out at her, not gags or tricks, nothing but implications and letting her mind take things farther than she wanted them to go. Thinking about dead parents and abandoned children was the last thing she needed right now and she blamed all of it on Niji. Spinning back around to face the disguised suicune, Scarlett's eyes burned with a newly formed grudge. "Give me one reason why I aught not knock yer lights out neu and leave ya here?" She growled, feeling a sort of satisfaction as the wall Niji was leaning on began to ooze some sort of slime.

☆ ☆【From what she could see at a distance, the door at the very end of the hall from where they stood appeared to be a simple one with a squared bottom and a rounded top. It looked to be made of a material similar to wrought iron, with a couple of line-like decorations made from a much darker metal stretching across its width. Jeez, they really seemed to like having doors that didn’t quite fit the same aesthetic as the rest of the haunted house itself as the… she supposed they could be called ‘markers’ for the different floors. This particular one looked like it was more fitting as a door leading into a deep dark dungeon than to a stairwell leading upwards further into the house. It didn’t seem like they had to really walk far to see what all they would have to do next to progress to the next floor, as Ingrid, who had already gone ahead, padded back over to them. A thin parchment envelope was clenched in the Meleeon’s teeth, though when Zoey made to reach for it she growled softly and turned her head away, refusing to give it up. ”Oh, so we’re gonna do this now?” the woman asked with a hint of irritation in her voice, ”C’mon, just give it here, aight? We don’t gotta make this difficult now, do we?” Again, she tried to reach for the envelope, but Ingrid, flashing a devious smirk, simply leapt back a few steps to avoid her trainer’s grasp once more. Ugh… seriously, she chooses now of all times to be a complete pain in the arse… Then again, Zoey figured that maybe she was just being sly because she wanted something in return for it. Sighing and shaking her head slightly, the woman reached into her bag and pulled out the package of jerky once again. That definitely seemed to be the ticket, as she immediately saw the Meleeon’s eyes sparkle eagerly as she stepped closer.
”Ah, so this is what ya wanted, eh?” she asked as she reached into the little plastic bag to pull out another piece of chewy dried meat, taking care to deliberately do it as slowly as possible and crinkling the packaging in an enticing manner. She grinned as the Meleeon came even closer, her sharp eyes trained solely on the piece of jerky, though couldn’t help but grimace a bit upon noticing the part of the envelope held in the Eeveelution’s mouth began to grow wet around the edges as she started salivating. Gross… though not too big a deal, it wasn’t the first thing she’s touched that Ingrid had drooled on, and it likely wouldn’t be the last. ”Right, I’ll strike ya a deal then, give me the envelope and I’ll give ya the jerky. Sound fair?” she asked, holding out one hand for the Meleeon to deposit the envelope into while she held the piece of jerky just out of reach. Giving a soft chuff of satisfaction with this exchange, Ingrid leaned in and dropped the now soiled envelope into Zoey’s hand, before expertly catching the piece of jerky in her mouth as her trainer dropped it from the other. ”Good gal,” the woman cooed softly as she gave the Eeveelution a few pats on the head, before straightening herself back up and carefully opening the envelope, trying not to cringe at the sliminess of the Meleeon spit as it got on her fingers in the process. Thankfully the piece of vellum paper inside was mostly spared from this small calamity, Zoey quickly wiping her hand off on her coat before pulling it out and opening it up to read the contents inside.

Yeesh, he hadn’t been kidding when he had said this riddle was more challenging, but since it couldn’t be anywhere else but on this floor then that certainly narrowed down potential areas they might have to search… Suddenly, both the piece of paper and envelope crumbled into numerous small, ashen pieces, which quickly scattered and vanished before they even touched the floor. Zoey grimaced as she shook away leftover bits of ash from her fingers, humming softly as she thought about the riddle. ”So… it points without fingers, strikes without arms, and runs without feet, not entirely certain on what it could be, but we should start backtrackin’ to see if we can pick up any clues,” she suggested as she pivoted around, ready to head back before the sudden sound of footsteps coming from the room they had exited from only minutes ago made her freeze in place. The second door to the large bedroom was suddenly flung open outwards with a violent force that nearly ripped it off the hinges, and out stepped the familiar suit of samurai armor that appeared to be made animate by some invisible force. It stood imposingly in the hall as it turned to face them, and only now did Zoey catch sight of the gleaming katana it held in one hand that had been pulled out of its scabbard. Bright red eyes glared at the woman from behind the fearsome oni mask as the suit stiffly raised a hand and pointed at her with an accusatory finger.”Thief...”a rough, hissing voice spoke out from the animate figure, dripping with rage and malice as it then brought the hand towards the other one that held the sharp and unsettlingly real-looking katana. With uncanny speed and sword held high in preparation to swing, the samurai suit charged towards them with clear intent to kill in its glowing red gaze. With a yell of shock, Zoey quickly held her arms up to her face in chest to brace herself, there was no time to get out of the way. Torgeir and Ingrid quickly came to her aid as they jumped in front of their trainer, the Meleeon snarling dangerously as she bared her fangs while the Blaziken adopted an offensive stance, while Eir yelped in fear as she quickly scrambled to hide behind Zoey. The clanking of heavy metal footsteps grew closer and closer with every passing second, and the woman tensed in anticipation to feel the painful sensation of a sharp katana blade sinking into her skin.
But just as the footsteps came as close to her as they would, the noise suddenly vanished… Zoey hesitated to lower her arms and open her eyes, fearing that she would see the gnarled face of the oni mask uncomfortably close to her own and the katana held only inches away from her neck. She nearly jumped a foot in the air as a sudden touch to her shoulder startled her, but the brief moment of shock was quickly replaced with shaky relief upon hearing”Blaziken, blaze”in a gentle, reassuring tone from Torgeir. ”Ah, is it gone?” she asked, swallowing down the bundle of nerves blocking up her throat as she opened her eyes and lowered her arms. Sure enough, there was no trace to be seen of the animated suit of armor that had been there only seconds ago… ”Jeez, that got me pretty good too…” Zoey breathed as she wiped her brow in relief. Dammit, even though she knew that these scary things weren’t actually real and were just part of the attraction, they were still managing to spook her quite a bit, and she had yet to come across any kind of spiders at all in this place. Still, her determination to push onwards still burned brightly, it was just a matter of finding that damn key so they could head to the top floor of this place and claim a worthwhile reward for it.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【With the ‘threat’ now gone, Zoey took a deep breath to try and regain her composure, turning to check in with Eir who had still cowering behind her, paws covering her eyes like a scared child. ”Hey, it’s alright now, the thing’s gone,” she soothed gently, bending down as she lightly ran her fingers through the Ninetales’ mane, which always helped to calm her down when she was feeling out of sorts.”I-Is it really?”the fox’s voice carried a heavily doubtful tone, taking a good several seconds more before she removed one paw to look up at Zoey. She seemed relieved to see that her trainer still looked fine, no visible cuts or other signs that she had been attacked with a sword… Still, Eir was a bit on edge as she slowly removed the other paw and began to rise to her feet. ”Yeah, it pretty much just disappeared, no biggie,” Zoey reassured with a soft laugh, ”Besides, even if it had been real, I would’ve tried fightin’ it off. I’d rather I get hurt than allow any of ya’ll to be harmed, y’know?” The ice fox pouted a bit at this even though it was hidden under her mask, even if it was to protect her she would rather not have Zoey get hurt either… If she lost her trainer, Eir wasn’t sure what she would do. The woman really meant a lot to her, and even if she was to hypothetically find another trainer, she wouldn’t be able to accept anyone else except Zoey. Still, she brushed those doubtful thought aside, yipping happily as she wagged her tails.”Yeah… I know,”she agreed, seeming to feel a bit better after that whole ordeal, though she still glanced warily at the spot where the samurai armor suit had stood before it charged them with the sword.
”Hey, don’t worry about it, alright? I doubt it’ll be comin’ back,” Zoey said with a lighthearted chuckle, giving Eir a few gentle pats on the back before straightening herself up, ”That aside, we still got a key to find… Let’s go back through the rooms one by one and search ‘em top to bottom.” Thankfully there was a bit less ground to cover here as opposed to on the first floor, they just had to search the bedroom, music room, and the boudoir for potential hiding spots for the key to be. Gesturing for her Pokemon to follow, Zoey headed towards the still open door leading into the large bedroom. She was a bit wary about going back in there since the samurai suit had been in there previously, but she pushed her nerves aside as they stepped inside. Her eyes immediately flashed over to the spot where the suit had been, feeling both a bit relieved yet somewhat anxious upon seeing the stone plinth it had been sitting on was now vacant. No sign of the samurai suit that had previously been there to be found. Well, good that it appeared to be gone for good now, yet it felt strange to just have an empty plinth with nothing on it and knowing that something had been there before... ”So… is there anythin’ in here that would match the description of the riddle?” Zoey muttered to herself as she scanned the room, checking along the bookshelves for anything out of the ordinary. A shining bit of metal, or perhaps a small box or other container that could conceivably be used for hiding a key. Ingrid sniffed around the bed, peering underneath for anything of interest. Torgeir hummed as he examined the grandfather clock, admiring the rather ornate design of the bleached white wood and gold trim… So far, he didn’t see anything particularly out of the ordinary about it, until he saw something hidden behind the top wooden fixture of the clock. Being quite tall himself, the Blaziken was easily able to reach it as he pulled what looked like a small wooden jewelry box from its place on top of the huge antique.”Ken,”he called out towards Zoey, holding the box out as he gestured for her to come over.
”Ah, nice find there, Tor!” the woman praised with a grin as she came over, accepting the box from him and turning it over curiously in her hand, ”Where was this?” The Blaziken cocked his head slightly, before pointing to the spot on top of the grandfather clock. Zoey hummed in contemplation as she opened the box, realization coming upon her as she opened the small wooden box to find the glistening bronze key hidden inside. ”A clock… Yeah, it makes sense now that I think about it,” she spoke as she looked between the key and the grandfather clock. The hands of a clock pointed to the different numbers that indicated time without fingers, it struck every hour without arms, and it ran without legs because clocks typically were wound to be started… yes, it was coming together now. The group quickly made their way out of the room and towards the door leading to the next floor, Zoey unlocking the small padlock and undoing the chain that served to keep the door locked and opening it to reveal another stairwell beyond. And, of course, a familiar Zoroark was there as well, waiting for them at the bottom. As Zoey and her Pokemon approached, Orpheus glanced up at them, looking somewhat shocked to see them there.
”Well well, it seems that you were able to make it this far after all. Not that I doubted you would, of course~”the Zoroark spoke with a soft, teasing lilt to his voice, both hands perched on his cane as he leaned forward a little with a wicked grin on his face,”Still… I can hear the fearful hammering of your heartbeat, I can see your face still pale with anxiety and dread… It seems that crossing the second floor was a bit of an ordeal for you, hm?”Zoey couldn’t help but bite her lip a bit at that, he certainly wasn’t wrong… ”Well, the spooks really did get me quite a bit at some points, I’ll admit that much,” she said with a light laugh, though she still struck a confident pose, ”But I ain’t backin’ out now, the best prizes are at the top and that’s what I’m shootin’ for!” Orpheus quirked a brow at that, but his grin only widened as he gestured towards the stairs.”Well then, if you are really feeling brave at heart, then proceed to the last floor and be prepared to confront the true horrors… Even those that lurk in the deepest, darkest corners of your mind,”as he spoke those last words, the Zoroark began fading away where he stood like a Cheshire Cat, until only his wide, unsettling grin remained floating in midair,”Best of luck to you… and pray that you will survive the night…”A low, deep chuckle echoed around the stairwell as Orpheus’s remaining grin slowly faded away like the rest of him had, lingering in the air for several moments longer before it too disappeared, leaving dead silence in its wake.
With Orpheus gone for now, Zoey glanced down towards Eir and jerked her head towards the door off to the side of the stairs that would lead back down and out of the house. ”Ya still wanna leave? This’ll be yer last chance to, because after this we won’t be able to exit until we reach the very end of the haunted house,” she suggested, wanting to make sure that she gave the Ninetales to quit while she was still ahead. Eir was very tempted to take up the offer and leave while the opportunity was still available, like Zoey said if she passed this up now they wouldn’t leave until they reached the end of the final floor. Still, a part of her urged her to keep on going, if she went through the whole haunted house with Zoey then she could say that she tried the full experience for the first and last time. If her trainer wanted to go through the haunted house again after this, then Eir would just choose to opt out the second time around.”I… I’ll keep going, I at least want to see this through to the end with you,”she finally said, looking up to Zoey with a nod of confirmation,”I might regret it later, but… I’m willing to tough through it with you to reach the end.”Zoey blinked in surprise, not expecting that kind of answer from Eir, especially since she had been quite eager to take up the offer of leaving the haunted house early beforehand. ”Are ya really sure, though? I mean, I ain’t gonna stop ya if yer really set on goin’ through with it, but I don’t want ya to force yerself if ya really don’t want to,” she interjected, concern clear in her voice as she gestured up the stairs. Eir nodded again as she stood tall, making it clear that she wasn’t going to change her mind.”I’m sure,”she spoke, her normally anxious tone momentarily replaced with determination as she pressed close to Zoey, ready to proceed onwards when she was.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Zoey sighed softly, it was pointless to try and argue at this point. If Eir really wanted to proceed to the last floor of the haunted house, then she wasn’t going to stop her… she just preferred the Ninetales not force herself since horror really wasn’t one of those things she handled too well. ”Well, alright then, like I said I ain’t gonna stop ya if yer really set on this,” she said with a defeated shrug, moving to head up the stairs as she beckoned to her Pokemon to come along, ”Let’s head on up then.” As they headed upstairs, Zoey couldn’t help but notice a palpable change in the lighting the further they climbed, growing gradually darker and darker until it was hard to really see much of anything at least one foot away from where the walls were supposed to be. ”Heh, so we’re settin’ the mood already then,” she remarked with a chuckle just as the door to the final floor came within sight, ”Bring on yer worst.” With those bold words, she flung open the door without preamble, and before they knew it they found themselves in what looked to be a study of some kind. A simple one with minimal furnishings, a large oaken desk with numerous knick-knacks on it, including more of those strange Purrloin figures, a small glass lamp that was currently lit, a cigar holder, several sheets of vellum paper with ink stains littering the very top sheet, an ink pot with a classic quill fountain pen inside, and what looked like a small AM radio, alongside a few chairs, a small wooden chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a few paintings on the walls. ”Y’know, for a house that seems like it’s more or less from centuries ago, they seem to have quite a few modern appliances in here…” she muttered as they managed to squeeze their way inside, the small space was a bit more cramped but there was still enough room for them to be able to move around.
Ingrid, preferring to not be stuck in a small room like this, promptly started scratching on the door until Torgeir finally opened it and let her out, the Meleeon giving a snort in acknowledgment as she pushed on ahead with the Blaziken following closely after. He didn’t want her to go too far off on her own while Zoey and Eir took a bit more time to catch up to them, after all. ”Hm, doesn’t seem to really be anythin’ of interest in here,” the woman said with a shrug, gesturing for Eir to come along as they headed out of the study and into yet another hallway. However, the moment she stepped out of the room, the sudden crackling noise of a radio being tuned filled the silence of the atmosphere, which was quickly replaced by the sound of odd, unsettlingly eerie music that sounded like something out of a 50s horror movie when the monster shows up. Yeeeaah, no, they weren’t going to be doing that, not if she had anything to say about it. However, as soon as Zoey turned around to go back into the room and turn the radio off, but as soon as she did, the door abruptly slammed shut in her face. ”Oi! Don’t ya close the door in my face, ya son of a b***h,” she growled, seizing hold of the doorknob and turning it rapidly, but it wouldn’t turn at all to allow her to open it. Creepy music continued to spill in from behind the door as the radio kept playing while Zoey attempted to ram it open with her shoulder, but it just wouldn’t take, it was solidly stuck shut. ”Ugh… fine, have it yer way then,” she conceded with a sigh, glowering at the door before turning away, gesturing for Eir to come along as they headed down the hall after Torgeir and Ingrid. She just barely missed the soft, sinister snickering that emanated from behind the door as it opened a tiny crack, a pair of bright yellow eyes sparkling gleefully as they stared down the hall at the woman before the door was shut once again.】☆ ☆

[ "Yeah, he's like a dad!" ] Chima piped up. [ "And Arezu's our uh, Mom I guess?" ] He pawed at Gekkit's bamboo collar, fishing for a nod of agreement. [ "Er, yeah I guess. Either way, she does the battle stuff. Not like we've done much battling yet." ] Huh, maybe that was part of why Niji had joined up with her? Gekkit didn't know much about before he and Chima joined, maybe he should ask sometime.

Arezu blinked, realizing she... hadn't actually contributed at all by the time Jay came over. "Oh, yeah, thanks." She followed slowly after Jay, mostly focused on the glow of the pumpkins to keep from knocking into anything right before the end. "Ha, yeah, right, guess that's true. They probably didn't count on a blind guy coming in and acing it, right?" Hmm, were they at the point in their acquaintanceship where blind jokes are okay?
...and like normal, she was finding it easier to talk to the pokemon than the human.
"Nah. Jeez, it's sort of complicated to explain." Did she even go into the whole 'half of my pokemon are a Suicune's adopted family' thing? Maybe later. "But I hadn't thought up names for them yet, and I left them alone for five minutes and when I came back apparently someone had come along and named them. They refused new names so..." she shrugged, even if Koda couldn't see. She could kind of make him out, thanks to his little wisps. "Oh, yeah, he doesn't have nearly as much fur as Shiisa." Arezu snorted at the image of Sham with that much fur on him.
Arezu paused after he answered her question. Koda sounded... troubled? Thoughtful? She hadn't realized how personal the question might be, but now she wondered... was Flurry going through something similar? Was that why he didn't talk to her? He had, after all, collected quite a few stray souls. Would it be alright to ask Koda about it? "Okay, that makes sense, thanks. Haven't really been able to ask Flurry about it, you know?" she said wryly, aiming for a bit of a joke.
She really should stop joking about possibly sensitive topics.

Niji crossed his arms, leaning into the wall with a nonchalant thunk. "Ah, but I'm so shy and couldn't think of what to say."
As she scrunched up her wittle face to inspect him, he tilted his head slightly, letting one of the longer strands fall forward. Unfortunately there wasn't enough light in the place to get a good glint off the rainbow (maybe he'd gone too subtle with it?). Damn. As fun as this was, he did want to trigger her memory at some point without having to say it outright.
Well, in the meantime he'd be unnecessarily catching Scar as she stepped back. He slid his hands around her arms just under her shoulders, grip gentle but firmly pushing back enough to keep her from falling. And, perhaps surprisingly, letting go when she pulled away and spun around to face him. His smile broadened when she responded with that adorable accent. Double points for her being mad.
"Well for one you might hurt your hand." He'd never gotten punched by a human before. Might be fun. "And if you try, I might have to stop you," he added, downgrading his smile to a smirk.
