She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"It's definitely a challenge, Mr. Buffoon. I'm glad you figured that one out."She teased gently, tilting her head slightly to one side as she smirked playfully at him. As she spoke her golden orbs gleamed with a rouge mischievousness, just as they always did when she was devising her next plan. There was always a warning when she was up to something, however it was much harder to guess what she was up to or when said shenanigan would actually come. "You may be good... but I'm better." Meeting his challenge head on without so much as a blink, the girl always seemed to have something up her sleeve. Really when it came to this game of theirs, it was hard to say who was the best opponent. They were constantly head and toe with each other. As soon as one of them pulled ahead, the other was quick to catch up. It only made it all the better and much more entertaining. For them at least. Ridley wasn't exactly sure what their much quieter teammates thought of it all. Normally it would have bothered her that she was the first to break into laughter, but it was different with Adam. It didn't feel like a defeat or a battle lost, despite the friendly competition she had going. She just couldn't help it. The huntress in training had a tendency to get stuck in her own head at times, be it lost to her own dark memories, her temper, or her competitive drive. Where so many people just seemed to fuel the fire, he seemed to tame it to some degree. It was something she hadn't quite caught onto, even if it was apparent to everyone around them. Truthfully, even if she had figured that out, even more evasive were the reasons why. The feelings the surfaced rather often when she was around Adam, but feelings she had yet to really figure out for herself. There were as confusing as they were unfamiliar.
"You okay there, chief?"She asked, the grin on her lips growing brighter as he choked on his own words. She only just managed a glimpse of his reddened cheeks before he turned his head to the side. She may be smiling now, enjoying the sight of his own flustered reactions, but thanks to Cecil they had learned what a truly flustered Ridley was like. The sight was as rare as it was surprising and possibly even more so amusing. "I dare say I disagree! I think you're very special." The words escaped her lips before she could stop them. Before she even realized what she was saying. She blinked once in surprise, a soft heat filling her cheeks, but smiled through it in an attempt to not get hung up on it. Moving forward before she could think on it too much, she let the conversation drift back to her uncle. "He's a great guy. Practically raised me, but that won't stop him from unleashing an eternal damnation that is an unreachable amount of embarrassment on me. Honestly... I think its his favorite thing to do." Rolling her eyes, a soft breath of air left her lips.It was almost a sigh, but she didn't look particularly annoyed. It was more of an amused acceptance of her fate. "He's a hunter himself, part of what inspired me to become a huntress. However, he's a big goof, so he doesn't always act the part." For reasons unknown to most, her uncle was the only member of her family she would speak of willingly, apart from the rare exception. All of the others brought back memories that were far to painful."Just like you." She added after a moment, winking playfully at her own insinuation that he was also a big goofball.
In all honesty, Ridley was relieved he didn't say more or question a bout her mom. She responded to his comment with a sad smile and a nod, before letting silence fall between them for a moment. It wasn't a topic she wanted to breach at the moment. It was but the braking point of an entire flood of dark memories. Let it spill, and the entire dam would overflow. It was a conversation they would likely half at some point or another, but now was not the time. She didn't want to tarnish such a beautiful night with such awful parts of her past. Though, she did note the slight surprise in his expression when she mentioned her mom. In truths, her family was not something she spoke of often, because she couldn't talk about them without revealing details she would much rather keep buried beneath layers of sarcastic sass. Her mother who passed away while she was so young. Her father who had lost to despair as he rotted his mind away with alcohol. Her sister who had been ripped away from this life much too early. Her brother who had abandoned them both when they needed this most. They were all entities better kept locked away in the very darkest corners of her mind. Especially on a night like this. Often she avoided the subject like the plague and when the topic did ear, she fought it off with an unyielding vigor. It would have come entirely apparent to her team by now that her past was not something she wanted to speak of. It could be assumed whatever had happened was bad. However, other than the bits she had let slip to Adam here and there, the exact happenings of her background were but a mystery to everyone at Beacon, including her team.
Just as they guy swore his revenge on her, Cecil and Azura joined their little duo. Keeping silent, she grinned devilishly at him. It was a sign of a challenge. She was waiting patiently for that day to come If it ever did. She had made a mental note to be much more careful about keeping her least favorite food hidden. Smirking at the the pun-show that was Adam and Cecil, she fought back a laugh, biting on her lower lip for a moment to regain her composure. "You two are absolutely hilarious. You should see about starting up your own comedy act." She teased gently, watching as the couple joined them at the table. She didn't miss the hand-holding either, but decided not to speak on it for now. She didn't want to tempt Cecil any further, for he already seemed to get a kick out of bringing whatever it was sparking between Adam and Ridley to light. Maybe it wasn't so much teasing as it was his compulsive bluntness, but either way, it wasn't something she wanted to address with an audience. "Or you could just share with us... there is plenty of pineapple to go around." She teased, smirking at Adam with a sideways glance of her golden gaze. She just wasn't going to drop it. Currently she had the upper-hand, and she wasn't going to back down until that changed.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.

There were just too many emotions tearing through her. Too many to possibly coexist in one body all at once. It was almost painful as they pushed against the boundaries of her throbbing heart. The pressure was immense and she felt like her heart, or what was left of it anyways, might just rupture on the spot. Then one word slipped through his lips and her entire demeanor changed in an instant. All the conflicting feelings dissolved completely until all that was left was the anger. Mittens. How she hated that stupid nickname. It insinuated that she was cute. That she was weak. It was something she loathed more than anything else. It was likely the reason she didn't take well to any sort of compliment. She didn't want to be cute, or beautiful, or well-liked. In her mind that all added up to one thing. Weakness. Look where that had gotten her. Her father was dead. Her had been ripped away from her by the white-crows. Sensui had met that same horrific fate. She'd been forced to watch it all. It was all burned into the most tender parts of her mind, haunting her thoughts and slipping into her nightmares. To top it off, she'd brought her one biggest fear into her best friend's life and now she had paid the consequences as well. Being cute or pretty or nice wouldn't bring her any sort of joy. It would save Maria. It would bring her family back. It most certainly wouldn't defeat Eteria? So what was the point? Why would she lower herself to such standards. Weakness was something she had always had a problem with. It was why she was so hard on herself, why she pushed herself so hard, why she refused to show anyone her soft underbelly. It was something she had voiced over and over again. When Rachel finally had to drag her off the training ground and strap her down to rest. When she had spent days running herself ragged without food or sleep. When she had spent so long sparring with whomever would take her on that she could barely keep her eyes open. The many times she had run her aura dry trying to perfect her semblance. In truths, she put herself in the infirmary just as often aas Feralis had. Her distaste for anything resembling weakness was likely the reason she had been misunderstood when Maria had first fallen ill. Maybe she had been too blunt. Maybe she should have softened the edge of her words, but that was not a strong suit of the lioness. Maria had been the only time it had been different. She hadn't been looking down on the girl. She had trying to keep her safe. She was being realistic, trying to keep her alive while everyone, including Maria herself, pushed forward on false hopes. While every time she got closer and closer to a situation neither Kenna or Feralis would be able to pull her from.
The feline had always frowned upon weakness and that was the exact reason the wolf used such terms to refer to her. He could have called her something rude, something vulgar, something obscene, and it wouldn't have received even a fraction of the reaction because she simply didn't care. This was different. She felt the anger rising up in her chest, burning through any other lingering emotions. Any thoughts of apologizing were withered to ashes with the white hot fury that was racing through her veins. To think for just a moment she had felt bad. That for just a moment she had thought she had missed him, if just a little. How ridiculous that had been. It only made sense that the first thing they had said to each other after five years were the cruel nicknames they had devised for each other. It only made sense that even after all this time, they had managed to spark the other's fury in a matter of moments. It only made sense that even after all this time, they were brought right back to the moment he had left. Full of a toxic loathing as they glared each other down. It was only right. Such was the relationship of Feralis and Kendall. It would have been more surprising if they had for once shared a tame moment. One without spitting, or clawing, or biting. "Do. Not. Call. Me. That." Each word was enunciated with a deadly precision, strained as they forced their way through gritted teeth. Eyes of liquid mercury flashed dangerously, fists balled tightly at her side, the sheen of claws just barely noticeable through white knuckles. It was an anger only Feralis could cause. As much as Allister got on her nerves. As much as Prism agitated her. This was a fury that only the wolf could bring forth. A rage only he could boil. The lion looked ready to pounce, clearly not worried about how it would effect her or anyone else. No regard for what might happen afterwards. She didn't care. She didn't want to be here anyway and this was her excuse to get out of here, and if she drew blood along the way.... even better.
There was but one voice that held her back. Sounding from just behind her. So soft. So meek. So strained. It was a voice she only got to hear on the rarest of occasions now. Despite its hushed volume, it cut through her just as effectively as a knife. The anger melted away, being brought down from a raging boil to a simmer, just barely kept under control. No matter how much she hated Feralis, she knew just how much Maria cared for him. SHe knew just how much this reunion would mean to her. It was enough to hold her back, if just for the moment. Not for the wolf's sake but, for Maria's. She forced her fists open, stiff fingers aching as the blood pumped through them once again. She took a step back, crossing her arms tightly over her chest and watching the scene with a bubbling agitation. Maybe this was part of the reason she had always hated Feralis. Maria had always been her one and only friend. The only person she had cared for. The only person she dared rely on, even of those tender moments were few and far between. Maybe it hurt to see her making friends with others. Maybe she didn't like to share. It was something she would have never admitted to aloud, because she knew it was selfish, and Maria was the one person she refused to let her negative attitude effect. However, it would explain why she never really gave the dog a chance. Then again, even if she had, she was nearly positive it would have worked out just the same. Trying to force Kenna and Feralis together was like trying to force two polar ends of a magnet together. Just as impossible as it was exhausting. There were issues rooted deeper than their canine and feline differences.
Watching silently, brooding to herself, there was no mistaking the surprise on the wolf's face nor the pain that followed. Kenna hadn't been surprised to see the girl in such a state. She had stayed to watch her fall much further than Feralis had. Then, spent hours reading the countless updates and messages she had missed out on over the years. She had known what she would be walking into, but it hadn't hurt any less. It hadn't made the guilt any easier. She still hated herself for leaving her best friend to face this illness all on her own. She hated herself for leaving her in her time of need. Even if she'd only gone because she felt that would be best... because she wanted to keep Maria safe The one thing she always strove to do. Even if she had been pushed away in the end, been made to feel like she wasn't wanted anyway... a basket of treats and toys tossed to the side to be replaced with a night of tears and yelling... She should have stayed. She should have been there. It was a regret she would bear the rest of her life. One she had to wonder if Feralis would share, noting the water that was welling up in her eyes. As different as they were, they shared a plethora of similarities. Similarities that did nothing but push them further away from each other. However, it seemed they both shared the same weak spot. There was one girl who could break though the gruff exteriors they put forth and bring forth the most vulnerable pieces of each of them. It was a skill she had always had. Only she had ever had. She may have lost the use of her legs, forced into a wheelchair, but that one thing would never change.
"How selfish of me to hit this wonderful delight that is Cali!" He started, playing off of both Nox's and Cali's words. "But can you really blame me? I suppose I'll have to let our leader borrow you for just a moment. I just hope I survive." The spider went on and on, a dramatic flare of despair ringing in his husky tones. He was only teasing of course, but it really wasn't that far off. For so long it had just been the two of tjem against the world. From that first time a seven year old boy had chosen to step in front of Cali's assailants. Despite the odds. Despite being out numbered Despite the fact he was much smaller. Believe it or not the boy had not always been so large.he had gotten his mass later in life. In a massive growth spurt that left him nearly as underdressed as Cali had been. Seeing as he was outgrowing his clothes faster than his mother could buy him. Even so, from that very moment Eli had taken Cali under his wing. He had always kept her close, vowing to keep her safe. Whe. His protection failed, he always beat himself up over it. Even the little things. A scraped knee, a bruise, a scratch. He cared for this girl more than anything on the planet and protected her just as valiantly as any full-grown knight would. They lived a life in a tangled web, full of both the most horrific if tragedies and the most tender of happiness. To think it could have just as easily ended up entirely different. If Eli was a different person, if his nature lacked the need to protect those weaker and mire innocent than himself. That urge, that need, the martyrdom. It was a very core part of his nature. Something that had been with him since the very beginning. He could have joined in with picking on Cali, just as all the others did. He could have impressed all the kids with his unique abilities. He could have chosen to be lo ed and fawned over. However, in his mind, power was only worth having if you used it to better the lives of those he needed it. Defend those in pain. Protect those who couldn't protect themselves. It was the element that began their tale and a key part that would stick with them through it all.
In truths, Eli was thankful for Nox's encouraging push towards Cali. He knew she needed it. She was so used to the world turning away from her, acceptance was a hard thing to accept. Even when it was handed willingly. Persistence would be needed to truly get the girl to open up, but Nox seemed detirmined enough. The offers of dancing, knowing the risks, he knew how much it would touch Cali's soul, for it was a risk that up until now, only Eli had ever been willing to take. He took it in stride. Every rash, every scab, every bit of discomfort and pain. It was all worth it to him. Every moment near here. There was no consequence severe enough to steer him away. Likely Nox would be a bit wiser, a bit more cautious in her plot, but he knew what it would mean to Cali. He knew she needed this acceptance. She needed the acceptance of him and if others so that she could one day believe it herself. For so long she had so many negative thoughts and words pounded into her brain. Years of neglect and abuse, it would take time to heal those wounds. Eli had done his best to act as a bandaid, but it was not so easy to wipe away the beliefs of others. Not when you had come to believe them yourself. Eli had taken massive strides towards such things, he had helped immensely, but the more assurance got, the more it would help. The spider one without a doubt he semblance could one day be controlled. He always had and now he had witnessed it. In that one moment they had shared their first kiss. What a beautiful moment it had been. One neither would ever forget. Now Cali had two people believing in her, and awli knew just how much that would mean. He watched as Nox leaned in, whispering something in Cali's ear. He let them have their moment, looking out for Yenna instead. He would have the best shot at spotting the tiny faunus, seeing as he was so tall. Even so, he was not even the closest to the tallest person here.
"I don't believe we have... but maybe Nox could show us sometime. I think it's about time the team takes a field trip... and it could be quite fun." Occasions that called for limited clothing had always been something Cali avoided, but he had manages to convince her to go to the beach. He was sure he could manage this as well. Gazing down at the girl tucked so closely to his side, he couldn't help but smirk as he sent a rather forward wink her way. Once again, intendg to fluster her further, he gave her a gentle squeeze with his arm that was wrapped so carefully around her. Whether it was due to the face he was trying to comfort her from the embarrassment he was trying to cause, or keeping her from running away, it was hard to say. It could very easily be one or the other. Granted, he knew Cali well enough to know she wouldn't dare wander off in her own in such a crowded room. Was he using that to his advantage? Maybe. Would he get an earful about it later. Probably. As the conversation drifted to the dresses Eli had brought for Cali, he looked down towards the monochromatic dress the so perfectly fit the girl. For now the fabric was holding but he knew from experience that it wouldn't hold much longer. "I assure you, you'll see a plethora of outfits from the both of us tonight. The first change isn't far off."It was something they probably hadn't thought off, but Eli had to bring spare clothes for himself as well. Considering they were always so close, her semblance would quickly eat through the fabric of his shirt. The only difference was that Eli would he left shirtless and Cali had her very specially crafted suit to protect at least some of her dignity. Then again, it would be the first time Eli had ended up shirtless in public and it really didn't seem to phase him too much. If he lost his pants... well that might be a different story. But this was Eli, and nothing kept the joker down for too long.
"Nah, I got it! Lots of practice." He teased gently, smiling down at Cali when she offered to help. He had spent years perfecting this task. He was so used to having one arm dedicated to her that there were many things he had since learned to do one handed. Things that were both odd and impressive. It was a skill that came in handy, both day to day and in far rarer of situations. As Calk wriggled her srm out from behind him, offering him another snack, he bent down, finding him nearly nose to nose with her as his fit the little roll very carefully out of her fingers. There was a gleam of sparkling fangs as he grinned devilishly at her, before straightening up once more. Chewing and swallowing the snack first, he then let out a soft chuckle."They're all the better coming from you." He spoke, smirking as he gave her another little squeeze. There was that same look in his electric orbs as they met her sandy hues. A look of frue adoration. They stare was interrupted by a British accent, and maybe that was for the best. They were in public after all and he didn't want to make Nox or anyone else feel uncomfortable. He kept Cali close to him, but turned to face their little rabbit friend. "If it isn't the mighty crusader herself! We've been looking for you." He shot a friendly fringe towards the girl but didn't comment on her attire or anything else for that matter. Whatever the reason, he was sure it was a good one, and he didn't wish to pry. Eli loved to tease, but he would hate to actually hurt someone's feelings.
Cali's voice, soft in his ear, made him direct his gaze towards the horned boy from the cafeteria who had had come to know as Felix. After the event, he had confronted the boy and between some oddest behaviors and misplaced words, learned of his condition. Even older was the request that Eli had made and really it wasn't fair to the boy who had already been struggling with such strange thoughts. After receiving all of Cali's memories, and her feelings as well, he had been rather confused about his feelings towards Eli. The spider didn't make that any easier on him because being the goof that he is, he just teases right back. In all serious thougg, he had asked Felix to give hin dancing lessons. He knew he would know how because if Cali's memories and it was just another surprise Eli had kept for the night. Eli wanted to impress her, blow her away, give her a night truly worth remembering. He wanted to make her feel as special as he thought she was. With Felix's help, he would be able to do that. However, there had been a dew awkward moments that were probably best to go unmentioned and he certainly hadn't made Felx's situation any better. He actually did feel guilty about that... but it was for a good cause. Given the memories he held, the faubus would certainly know that. Still, the forlorn look on his face tugged at Eli's guilt further, because he knew exactly what was causing it. "Oh yeah... Felix. He's been struggling since everything that happened." He could've completely honest with her. Not yet. It would ruin the surprise. The next moment however, a tiny white haired girl ran right into him and they bith tumbled to the ground. Chuckling softly a small smile tugged on his lips. "I think this might help him though."A fresh set of memories to clear his mind. Well... not really... but clear his mind from Eli at least.

It had been fairly quiet between the three of them. They were joined by the tall, red haired woman that had been at the courtyard before pressing matters had taken Komaru and Asger away to care for his younger sister. Ever since, Maru had felt a little skittish about posting and even joining with his team about things. Everyone was so...normal. And he was just so...freakish. There reason why was evident, but it was beyond what he could control at this point. His eyes fell onto the two near him, debating on asking the red head if he would like to dance but that would be straight forward. What if he turned him down? Or threatened him? Fear after fear ran through the poor boy's mind until he took a breath.
"Asger." Maru began. "Would you like to da-" Hesitation struck as his fear welled up in his chest. He winced at how embarrassing this would be for him and brought his hand to his chest. After a few seconds of silence, he smiled in an attempt to feign a content nature and hatched an idea. A way for him to change the subject. "Apologies. Ai was about to ask if you wished to see if yur sister and Narx are well."
As their team spoke, she felt more at home and like a family with them. Making her grow less homesick as she usually did every now and then. Henryk's gift had made her giddy with joy and a little embarrassment as she had not expected it. His explanation of his remembering and writing it down made her giggle softly before she lectured him on is recklessness. But, glad to have gotten a hug in return, she was slowly being infected with the contagious joy of her other teammates. They really were a cute pairing, she thought absently. Then her attention was back on their team leader, thinking that despite the excitable child, he could grow to be a good leader, and was one thus far.
She was relieved when they agreed to going outside though, and it seemed in pairs. Listening as he explained why he went in alone. She sighed softly, but smiled softly near the end."Good. And I understand, just don't be so reckless again."She replied, confused slightly by his apology before giggling softly as he mentioned not wanting to risk poisoning as they made their way outside."Don't be. A gift doesn't have to be new or shiny, it just has to come from the heart, honestly."She finished looking up at him, her soft smile reaching her mossy-green eyes.
Looking around at the beauty of the outside seating areas, she was pleasantly impressed. While they walked, she would be slightly distracted. So, when the ram faunus had spoken about the perfect spot and taking her hand without warning, she jumped slightly. Then he seemed to freeze as she looked to him, confused to why he had."Well...lead the way,"She replied with a nod and giving him an okay of sorts. It did not seem to bother her that he had taken her hand, instead, she would gently squeeze his as a nonverbal indication to go on. Once he continued to lead them to this "perfect spot", she would gently slip her hand from his and gaze around at the foliage that encircled the area; as it seemed she almost always did. His comment had made her laugh softly before she would smile to Remus and Ella, motioning for them to take their seats first."There are many secrets to unveil, not all need be told tonight though. Are you really so confident for the dance competition though?"She replied, sitting closest to the foliage at her back after every else took their seats.

Aurtrox would shake his head with a light chuckle. Koryn was going to have quite an experience at this school. He turned towards Amelie to speak to her, but she was gone before he could say anything. He did want to speak with her, but he would just have to find her later then. He needed to chitchat with all of the teachers here. "Another time then."He said to himself as she left. He turned towards Koryn and the other student, but he was intercepted by none other than Nyx."Nyx. It has been quite some time. How are you doing on this lovely evening?"Aurtrox asked cheerily. He would walk slowly towards the buffet to get another drink as he spoke."What do you think of the theme for this year's ball?"He knew she probably wasn't interested in such trivial talk, but that was the way of the world."I hear there are a few events planned for the night, but for the most part its just a social dance. A much needed one after all the events of late."He picked off some decorative green foilage and snippled at it like a squirrel. His mannerisms were always peculiar, but he somehow still held an air of elegance that made most look pitiful. He was the type of person who could wear his underpants on the outside and make it the fashion of the elites without thinking. Fortunately he would never do something that distasteful. Nyx's mind was active. He could see that much just by her eyes. She was a thoughtful person. Always up to something. A particularly productive trait if you asked him.

Ivory rubbed the back of his head. He wanted to enjoy his night with the lovely Nova. He wanted to dance with her, he wanted to see if they were even compatible as mates. Maybe that was him thinking too far ahead. His parents were together by now, but then again, most of his tribe was uneducated. He still wanted to enjoy his night.
Then the mention of the Mutt started. Yeah, Ivory had started that fight, but Feralis kept it going, by erasing the scent from Ivory's side of the room. It was bad enough that in his sleep, he had shredded 5 hammocks. "Feralis is here. He smells like he didn't clean up for the ball, as he smells like a bunch of wolves." He would then gently squeeze Nova's hand. "I would like to have a dance with both of the ladies on my team at some point, rather than baby sit someone that acts like a pup." Was he insulting Feralis behind his back, yep. He wanted to dance with both the women in his life, even though Jessica was like his sister, she deserved to enjoy the night as well.
I know nothing because I know too much... ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Not long after Maru and Auburn had joined him, their pale haired leader made her way over to them. Asger hadn't gotten the chance to spend much time with her over the past couple of weeks. They had met in passing but must of his time had been spent in the infirmary with his sister, making sure she was okay and got the treatment she needed. Not to mention be sure she didn't have any gruesome flashbacks while she was on her own. That wouldn't have been good for her mental state. He had met Auburn briefly in the courtyard before he had recieved the message that Danae was awake. Other than that he hadn't learned much more about the other redhead of the team than the bit he had managed to discern when they had first met. She was observant, blunt, and lacked social skills as much as he did, though the reasonings behind that were likely quite different. Asger had a tendency to be awkward when he was uncomfortable or nervous. Granted he kept it together now much better than he had in the past, but it slipped out on occasion. Maru had been the member of his team he had spent the most time with, seeing as he had accompanied him to the infirmary to meet his sister. He had been helpful and his presence there was appreciated more than Asger had probably made known. He wasn't always the best at expressing how he felt. Still, despite hiw little he knew Auburn, Reika was an even bigger mystery. It was becoming quickly known that she was much cheerier and outgoing than most of her team. Where Auburn and Asger were ready to leave, she seemed perfectly within hed element.
"Good evening, Reika. You look lovely. All of you do." He commented, polite as ever. Social skills weren't his forte but his parents had nailed manners into his head from a young age and he did his very best to comply. She was quick to ask them to her table and his sapphire eyes glanced towards the other two members of his team. He didn't want to be rude and decline her offer but he also didn't want to leave his other teammates hanging. "Shall we then?" He asked, glancing from Maru to Auburn and waiting for their responses. If they agreed, he would walk with them behind Reika back to her table adorned with many appetizers. He would wait for the girls and Maru to sit before taking a seat himself. Turning his gaze towards Maru at the sound of his name, he met his gaze with a friendly smile. However, his expression faltered when Maru cut himself off mid sentence. Dark brows would furrow, a small crease forming between them. He studied him with a studious look, as if he were trying to read his features to detirmine exactly what had caused him to not finish his sentence in the first place. He almost looked worried, as if he was worried he himself had done something wrong to cause such a reaction. When he spoke again, it seemed like he had changed the direction of his original question... but was he just overthinking it? It was hard to say, but either way, Asger wasn't one to pry. Instead he nodded, glancing around the room to look for his sister and her date. "Our parents will probably want a picture... and I'm sure they would be happy to see you again. Maybe we could try to find them later?" He asked, though after a moment he glanced at the other two and added on to his statement. "You both are welcome to come and meet them I'd you would like." He didn't really think that was Auburn's thing, but who knew? Reika on the other hand seemed friendly enough.
It was their blue eyed leader who spoke up again, asking if any of them wanted ti dance with her later. Asger was quiet for a moment, unsure if it was his responsibility to step up or note. He didn't know a lot about dancing, but he was a rather graceful individual, especially considering his size. He could probably figure it out. Seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, he didn't want to let her request go untouched though and risk hurting her feelings though. "I'm sure something could be arranged..." It likely wasn't the kind of response she was expecting or hoping for, but Asger was trying to be kind. He didn't always have the right thing to say but his heart was in the right place. He just came off more serious than he usually meant to. "I heard there is going to be some sort of dance contest. Maybe we could all participate?" Once again, he wasn't sure if that was something the rest of the team would be interested, but he was trying to appease them all. Besides, it could be a good exwr ise for the team. The grace required for dancing was often considered the same required for certain combat styles. Plus, the could always work on team work skills and the like. Leave it to the falcon to use a dance contest, something that was supposed to be fun, for a practical exercise. He really never stopped trying to learn and better himself.

Remus spent his time revealing in how cute Ella was while she was flustered by his inquiry. Though she seemed to recover after a sizable sigh. He could almost picture her worries floating away into the air around them with that exhale of air. "Don't dwell on it. I suppose you have every right to be nervous so you need not apologize." She explained that this kind of event was outside her comfort zone as well. He was curious if she by event she was referring to ball or a date, perhaps to both. Remus debated for a time to ask her and to see if she had ever been to events like this ball before. He decided better of it since he didn't want to give her more reason to be flustered. He was quiet pleased though when she gripped his arm more firmly and got just a tad closer to him in doing so. "That is good. Just make sure you have fun tonight. That's all events like this are about." The distinct confidence in his voice was back, promising in his words to do all in his power to ensure she had a good time and a fond memory by the end of the night.
Though Remus could make out the details that the others were talking about as they made their way outside he opted to leave their conversation to themselves. Though he was fairly certain that even if Henryk had tried to get something new for Chloris and it had turned out to be a poisonous plant that things would of still turned out well in the end. Of them all Chloris was by far the safe bet on the person in their group least likely to accidentally eat poisonous plant life. So she would be perfectly safe with the gift and after some explaining from Henryk the intent would be clear and she would forgive him for being such a knucklehead to mistakenly bring her something bad. Though depending on what it was she might still be very happy. There were some poisonous plants that sure they can't be used as herbs for food but if handled and proceeded right can still be used for loads of other useful things.
Once outdoors Henryk took the lead, claiming to know the perfect place for them to claim as their table. Remus, with Ella still holding to his arm, turned to follow after their leader. He took note of the handful of students that seemed to be rather stricken with Henryk's unique sense of fashion. The table Henryk took them to was indeed impressive. Even Remus liked the number of trees that were surrounding it with their decorative colored leaves. The spot was almost as good as the prime ground beneath the biggest flowering tree during a spring flower viewing gathering. The trees even had a few decorative lanterns hanging in them. Chloris unsurprisingly ventured right over to the trees for a closer look. Remus laughed softly at the faunus's enthusiasm. He separated from Ella so that he could pull out a chair at the table for her. After she sat down he helped her get it pushed back up to the tables edge. He then circled around to the chair beside Ella's and across from the one that he figured Chloris would take as her own, the one deepest into this little alcove of nature. He crossed his arms and placed them against the top of the chair as he leaned against it. "I think you will need to try a little harder to get our deepest, darkest secrets." Remus embellished his words on deepest, darkest secrets to dramatize the hinting towards any such things. "Perhaps bribe us with more gifts. I like fancy coffee beans." He added in a completely serious voice to complete the joke, though it was clear to see he was struggling to keep the straight face.
Remus straightened up and then took his own seat just a second before Chloris returned and sat down. "Though there is still plenty of other things to talk about." He looked at the girls. "Since he mentioned it. I suppose we could start with if any of us even know how to dance. I think I can manage a few simpler things, and they come with assurances for the safety of Ella's feet." He didn't know what the dance competition entailed but he assumed that it was partners and dances like ball room waltzes. Which would mean Ella would be his partner. Though for all he knew it could be team dance offs.
With Nova suggesting look for Feralis, Jessica would just shake her head no. "I just wanted to know if he showed up. If he's with us or not is no big deal, sometimes is needed." Giving a small shrug at the end. Ivory had asked if both girls would dance with him. "I would dance with Nova first, you two came here together. So by the code of asking you owe her the first, last, and most of the dances." Laughing a Little she placed a hand on each one's shoulder. "Go, dance, have fun guys."

___ Nox turned her eyes up toward Eli's at Cali's words. His electric blue gaze falling into the deep garnet red pools as she gave him a cute pleading look that only girls seemed able to truly master. A gaze that begged of him "Oh please sir, let me have just a little of her time." A giggle as light as a summers breeze disturbing a wind chime came from Nox as Eli acquiesced, though by reason of dramatics befitting theater only. Their leader grinned, flashing her faunus fangs in doing so. "Oh, woe is you. To listen to you one would think you would wilt without her." Nox placed her hands on her hips to feign scolding him for being too clingy. As they moved on and Cali considered their outing Nox nodded at her. "Yep. Be just us girls. Have ourselves a girls night out." She would of course bring along Yenna if she wanted to come. Just couldn't take Eli with them. Who knows what kind of clothes they would feel like getting and trying on. Though more importantly they couldn't gossip about him if he was there.
___ When the topic of a hot spring had been brought up as a side topic to the subject of dancing Cali seemed to show a little of her excitement once more. Nox shrugged her shoulders and commented, "Well I don't know that finding hiding places for things sounds all that delightful, but a hot spring most certainly is. Once you get in the heat just soaks into you. It leaks right into your soul and warms you to the very core." Nox had a rather far off dreamy look in her eyes as she talked in an excited voice about the springs. It was a side of their leader none of them had fully seen before. Though taking into account that she was a snake it probably shouldn't be surprising. Cali was right on the money that Nox as a snake was rather flexible but her fondness for heat should be of no surprise. If anything was surprising for them it would be to learn about some of her physical traits in that department which differentiates her from them, of which they hadn't really discussed at all. With the chill of late autumn taking hold and the much more daunting freeze of Old Man Winter's icy grip looming beyond that it was a topic sure to be brought up sooner than later. Nox's thousand yard stare regained focus on the present and her head snapped around to look at Eli as she let out a sharp, "Really?" Her eyes never looked more like the gem stones they share a color with than they did in that moment of excitement. She quickly regained her composure though, realizing that she was the leader of the team, not Eli, so planning and taking them out for a vacation like field trip would be on her to plan and deal with. She blushed slightly and softly cleared her throat. "Er hm. I mean, sure, yeah I could do that. I know of a few nice ones around."
___ The conversation returned to the subject of dancing. Cali seemed to actually be game to dance with Nox. Though understandably she was a little hung up on her semblance creating accidents for her. Nox pointed to her exposed shoulders. Her dress left everything above the bust and down her arms exposed. "I think we could manage. If you are leading then the butterfly or closed positions would work." She suggested. The butterfly position had the two dance partners holding hands. A lead hand and tail hand. That would be easy with Cali's gloves blocking skin contact. The closed position had the lead hand still though the leader of the partnership's other hand is on the upper back while the follower's rests over the leaders arm with the hand on the shoulder. More contact of skin but again clear of Cali possibly touching Nox's dress. As for any touching skin along their arms in that position Eli was right in assuming Nox had precautions in mind. She was confident her semblance would be able to create a paper thin barrier that would allow the to be all but touching if need be. Nox was confident it would be able to hold up for the length of a dance too.
___ After they got to the table Nox had moved off from the other pair. Eli being the closest to her when her brought her a new drink. During which he pointed out some food on the table. From his shadow Cali pointed out something on the table that seemed to fit Nox's taste. Her red eyes follow the direction her finger indicated. Her pupils drawing closed to form narrow slits as she took a closer look. "Ooh, poultry." She chimed in interest. It had been a while since she last had herself a serving of bird of any type. Her interest was interrupted short of actually getting a taste of any of the snacks by Yenna's voice. Nox turned around to face the team mate they had been hunting down. Eli telling Yenna about their quest to find her as she did so. Yenna seemed a little off. And it wasn't just her lack of an evening gown, which Nox was admittedly a little disappointed by. She was certain Yenna would be easy to make absolutely adorable if they found her a good match of a dress. "I'm fine. A little excited for the events of the night actually. Is something wrong Yenna? You seem a little distraught." Nox tilted her head as she asked if Yenna was ok. Her slip in dialect was a clue even someone that wasn't as observant as Nox wasn't likely to miss. She had to make sure her team members were ship shape mentally as well as physically after all.
The comment had her wondering who would best who in combat. However, knowing how Adam reacted to rage she imagined there would be a lot of apologizing and backing away on Adam's part. "I don't think you'll need to go that far." She answered with a small smile on the verge of playfulness. As they crossed the room, she couldn't help but watch the other members of the team. The way their eyes sparkled when they looked at each other. The way their smiles played across each other's lips. Yet they seemed completely oblivious to it, or perhaps unwilling to admit it to themselves. It was quite ironic that the introverted pair quietly accepted their relationship while the extroverted pair seemed to be trying to bury it. Then again, if Cecil wasn't so blunt and forward, Azura could easily picture herself in a similar situation. In that way, he seemed to be a good influence for her.
Azura slid into the chair next to Cecil. Compliments about the lovely couple sent her cheeks blazing of embarrassment. Thankfully she had two saving graces. Adam's sixth sense seems to be tingling since he didn't pick her up and spin her around and Ridley didn't add to the comments, allowing the conversation to quickly turned to puns. Azura quickly found herself softly giggling to the bad jokes. "I do enjoy pineapple, but perhaps I should get my own plate. I wouldn't want to deny Adam the delicious fruit." She teased, quickly aligning herself with Ridley as she seemed prone to do when it came to teasing Adam. She met Cecil's gaze, and though his lips were hidden she could tell he was smiling underneath and having a good time.

Cecil listened to both Adam's terrible puns as he shook his head and moved to sit down in the chair with Azura as he looked to Ridley as she spoke next. "A comedy duo? That's a cold suggestion, I prefer my ally to be the frosting of what I bring to the table." He responded as he tilted his head before he cleared his throat. "I do appreciate the compliments." He told Ridley with a small smile on his face before the talk of Pineapples came into play. "I prefer Apples and if they have it... Caramel." He stated aloud while he looked around to see the students enjoying themselves.

Garret's smile grew as he heard Yui recite her words from the first day they had met. Words that had been a vow from her, and an inspiration to him. To know that there was a soul like his own, one that was bound to their word and always striving for improvement. One who never shied away from the call of battle, but was one that knew the importance of honor. One who had even bested him in a competition that very same day. The one person who he felt comfortable with showing more than his usual arrogance, who could feel the infectious pull of a challenge and desire to conquer it. As she went on to question what it would mean to let those words be no more than that, words in a world of action, Garret smiled a bit more internally. 'And so the flames have been fed, till they threaten to leap from the pit.' He thought to himself, hoping the flames of her spirit would do such a thing tonight and in the future. "To let such words fall from meaning is to sacrifice ones self. Beings such as we are cannot let such things come to pass. Not only because of our blood, but to go against and forsake such things would be to forsake ourselves." Garret would reply, a calm passion in his voice as he did so. His word was his life, his commitment to the charge he had been given as the last of the Reveley line, his continued efforts to improve himself to fulfill his goal...all stemmed from his belief of never letting his own fires die. To face whatever odds there may be as he would, and never let the world change who he was. There had been a time when that was in question for him, long ago, but he had surpassed that barrier and come about stronger for it. He hoped the same could be said for Dove now.
Gazing into her eyes, Garret could see the burning flames hidden away behind her eyes to the world. A sign that she was no longer a mere ember fearing to be doused, but a roaring flame who would stand and challenge all the rain the sky could produce. A sign that it was again the huntress from that day that felt so long ago. A sign that the dove could yet fly with her wings, and would not let them be clipped. He felt her intense gaze lock onto his as he felt his arrogant smile slowly forming, knowing her gaze was not challenging but respecting the strength that came from such a gaze. He even saw her stoic seriousness seem to return, and almost thought he could see the faintest traces of a smile. She was not the type to do so often from what he recalled, and it had been a while which left him unsure, but he liked to believe it did exist. As she returned words of it being her honor to join him, and needing him to accomplish the task, he felt her gently rest her palm against his as her fingers curled and stepped forward. Asking him to lead the way, Garret would bow his head slightly and speak in a calm and polite voice. "It would be my honor to do so Dove." With those words said, his own hand would gently yet firmly enclose around hers as he would begin walking towards the ball itself from the courtyard as unbidden thoughts started to cross his mind. 'Getting close to someone shall only lead to pain,' or 'You need to distance yourself from others lest they suffer the same fate as all those before.' But he ignored those thoughts as they came into his head. If only for one person, one night, he could allow himself to become close to another and not try to push them away. He was the fuel that ignited her fire this evening, and he would not be satisfied till her roaring flame could burn till the entire forest was set ablaze. He would not leave her now even if his instincts and decision from years ago bid him to do so.
Garret led her past the security, waving them away by saying how he worked for the school when they asked about his weapons. He was in his full right to have them as "faculty" to the school after all. Upon entering the grand and beautiful ballroom, Garret was slightly impressed with how much effort they seemed to have put into the entire event. Though he disliked its mandatory attendance, it at least something that was clearly given effort in order to make up for such an obligation. Looking to Dove, he would smile in his trademark fashion as he would gesture to all around them. "It would seem there are more people here than I had suspected. I wonder how many shall have the misfortune of competing against us?" He would calmly ask her, mostly a rhetorical question, but one he would also be curious to see what her answer was. If she chose to respond he would wait to listen to it before continuing. "It matters not however. This shall be a competition of skill, not numbers. Though if we are to compete, we do need to decide on our own style. Any preference, or shall salsa be a suitable dance?" Garret would comment again, before becoming more serious as he asked what she would like to do for their dance. They could be the most skilled people in the world, but if they did not play to both their strengths it would hardly matter. All the while he had been speaking, he had been leading them to relatively clear area to either practice dancing, or move from later to actually dance competitively. ✘ Post count: 43 ✘Semblance timer: 0/5 ✘ Recharge: 0/5 ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
Proceeding through the floor was a rather grueling task. Zylah in her hyperactive state was truly a force of nature within itself. While Aaron may have had only glimpses of the girl, it was clear on the way she was heading. Of course there were a lot of upset individuals and he did his best to calm them as he would rather not have more chaos ensue. Though one girl in particular looked like she wanted to slap the s**t out of his date. Luckily she was too take aback by the boys sudden interference. However he decided to hurry up in pace when he lost sight of her. Literally pushing through a couple's romantic dance, he saw Zylah take a head on collision with a horned faunus boy of all things. He would gasp a with concern, "Zylah!" Ignoring the now peeved couple behind him, he would rush to the side of both fallen victims. Oh geez this was quite the situation that she put herself in. Seeing that she was literally collapsed on top of the faunus boy, Aaron would reach down sweeping his arms under his date. "You gotta watch where you are going next time..." He would tell her out of concern when lifting her off the other boy. Noticing the big red mark on her forehead he would sigh a bit. Hopefully it wouldn't leave a bruise or anything. His attention then turned to the faunus boy. "Are you okay by the way? Im so sorry about her. She can be a handful." He would apologetically ramble before giving the girl a shoulder to lean on. "Can you stand?" Offering his free hand, he gestured to help up the goat faunus if he were to take it. Of course he did feel bad about what happened. Though that wasn't going to stop him from at least helping the poor faunus who got struck by a Zylah truck.
