The Mask Not far from the apple bobbing barrel was a booth set up with some peculiar plushies. She'd never seen ones quite like this. They looked like they had a bit of something from nearly every race. By chance she picked up a black and red one to inspect closer and was surprised when the junior attending the booth told her to keep it. There were a couple others that she liked more, but she didn't want to be rude and refuse this one, so she nodded, tucked it under her free arm, and slipped back into the crowd.
The Mask Somehow she managed to circle back towards the booth with the plushies on them. One in particular caught her interest and she went to pick it up. A startled shriek caught those around her by surprise when she thought she saw a spider on the one she'd grabbed. It was, to her embarrassment, part of the design. Too embarrassed to grab a different one, she mumbled a sorry and slid into the crowd to escape.
The Mask As they were juggling with the plushie, a junior in a garish yellow tuxedo added a potion to the mix. At least, they assumed that was what the rainbow colored liquid inside the bottle was. Considering the mysterious quality of the potion, and the fact that it was vaguely warm, they didn't believe they were going to drink it. Maybe that would change later. They suspected not though.
The Mask Considering the cockatriel was more or less calmly perched on his shoulder, he considered his method of wait for the birb to calm down and try to emanate calm to be a relative success. The fact that the familiar was currently chewing a piece of his hair he was currently overlooking. If he pretended not to notice, he wouldn't have to figure out how to keep the bird from doing it again.
Now that he was aimlessly wandering, he noticed a bunch of plushies set next to some caramel apples. He wasn't normally a hoarder of such things, but they were all so cute that he couldn't decide which was his favorite. He kept picking one up then setting it down to pick up another, his brow slightly furrowed. Finally he had no choice but to close his eyes and grab one at random. If he came back later and there were still more of these little guys, he'd try to snag them in all the varieties. For now, he'd stick with his orange and green one.
Citali paced about her room, nervous as all heck about leaving said room. There was no way she could go participate in an event like this all dressed up! Sighing, she stood in front of the mirror and shook her head. She absolutely loved her dress, it was gorgeous with it being silver in color, and covered in sparkles. Yet, who was she to go to these events? She kept to herself!
A couple hours go by, and she finally arrives at the event, nerves getting the best of her at this point. What if someone were to hate her? What if someone told her she looked hideous in this dress? What if someone just tried to talk to her in general? That would be bad. Citali was here to check out the place and disappear back to her room. Yet, before she could get very far into the room, she was distracted by movement up by the ceiling. Were those brains? They couldn't possibly be brains! Yet, it was starting to freak her out just a little bit, but, before she could leave the room something bumped her on the shoulder.
It was a little Rammykin! So that was what was flying around up there. She sighed in relief as she cuddled the cute rammykin. Maybe with a fluffy friend, she could maybe tolerate being here longer. Maybe.
After missing the junior once again, Fiore huffed and barely refrained from crossing her arms. Seriously, there had to be better people than her to give shifty potions to. Still she had given it the college try for now, but she would be on the lookout for him, mark her words. However as if to spite her, the junior gave a cackling laugh before throwing the last colored potion at her. Oh that was it, darting into the crowd she tried her best to catch him, but her height worked against her.
Eventually she stopped to catch her breath, when she heard something. Turning around she realized she was getting a compliment on her mask. “oh thank you very much. Yours is very much adorable as well” she smiled, shoving her ire towards the potion giver in the back of her head. Manners were important. (Micari) ------------------------------------------------------ After calming down his new aetherjelly, Alto found himself carefully situating the new familiars in his bag and putting it over near the lockers where people could store their stuff. It was on his way over that he noticed a table with nezubats. Well couldn’t pass up nezubat plushies, and he picked one up figuring it was safe considering there was no sign, no mention that anyone was going to be back and nothing that mentioned you had to pay for them.
It was after he walked back from setting down his stuff that he heard the nervous voice. Turning he was face to face with another hallowed junior. Well he could understand nerves when it came to asking someone to dance. “Sure I would love to.” Alto replied with a reassuring smile. (enju) --------------------------------------- Xevikan tilted his head and gave a small smile. His companion sure got off track easy. Maybe it was nerves. He knew talking to new people could definitely give a person the case of the jitters. So he nodded again showing he would go with the kirin hybrid.
“Alright. Sounds like it could be interesting” Xevikan replied as he followed behind Rainbow. As they neared the fortune teller stall, a junior who was sitting at a booth suddenly got up and handed xevikan a plushie, huh it was sort of his colors. Then again he was rain bow so a lot of things were his colors. (rainbow breeze) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ As if also drawn to his rat plushie, there was a squeak that caught his attention and he turned briefly from his companion to see a flitterat phase through a chip bowl. No.. no run by a chip bowl. It really hadn’t phased had it. However his thoughts quickly caught up when the rat clung to the plushie. It looked up at Khensu almost as if claiming the thing, and him. Ah well festivals were for familiars and now his small horde would had friends when he was at school.
Having dealt with the sudden familiar problem Khensu thought about the goblin’s question.
“I would be happy to do both, if you wanted. Maybe dancing first?” He asked. After all the locker area was near the dance floor and he could find somewhere to set this giant plushie down, couldn’t dance with his companion and the large plushie. . (lunette) ------------------------------------------------------------ Nephthys felt like there was something on her companion’s mind, something that she was hesitant to break so she followed him gently on to the dance floor. It was almost like someone had cast a spell on the chomp. Maybe they had gotten swept up in the atmosphere that was the masquerade ball. Then again it wasn’t her job to pry.
As they got on to the dance floor, she easily kept her companion from stepping on her feet, not that they were in really any danger of being stepped on. She actually liked dancing and thought she was a pretty good dancer.
“you have a rather beautiful mask” She said in a soft voice. (Merton)
“Well when they first started showing up here, everyone kind of went gaga over them. So it doesn’t surprise me that they decided to start growing pumpkins just in case” Leto pointed out with a smile. Was vega blushing? No, he was seeing things. It was just probably shadows mixing in with his skin toe. “Ah yes I do. I don’t actually own any but I am pretty good with familiars. Oh I don’t mind taking him if you are sure” Of course then he had to laugh when a nezubat joined them.
“Yeah I’ll take the pumpka, a nezubat should be easier for you and if I recall you already have a small colony going. It’ll fit right in.” Leto agreed, and because it wouldn’t be a festival without things being shoved or thrown at him. Someone ran right by and shoved a rather large fliterat plushie into his arms. Without his wings to flare out and help his balance, he went stumbling back a little bit, but caught himself. “Festivals, gotta love them” ------------------------------------------------------------- “Ah….yeah I am a parent to a growing litch, and sort of a half parent to my sibling. You have to think of things like that, and to carry around sticky notes and sharpies. You never know when you are going to need them.” He sighed mock put out but still hugged her back, he was getting used to all the hugging. “as for trends, well I’m not exactly one to follow them either. I just have to suit wise for work.
It was then they passed a fortune teller booth on their way back to the thick of the crowd. Oberon made a note to possibly come back and get a free reading. Oran would get a kick out of it. Of course then he was distracted by Lau’s hand on his cheek. “Well then a certain sister of mine would be remiss if I didn’t follow through with that suggestion. Would my lovely masked super hero like to dance?” He said adding a tiny bit of charm into his voice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiri ignored any flustery panic Miwako was having. After all, the nine knew he often got just as flustered. He remembered last time they were at the café. Yami had seriously banged his head into the counter. Shaking his head he looked back to her with a smile when she nodded.
“Yes, that would be nice.” He replied although there was no heat or accusation at all his words. However how did one dance with a kumiho. Well there wouldn’t be any fancy dance moves but maybe if he took her hand gently there, and then hesitantly place his hand above her waist. Well that took care of one point. He’d just go really slow and make sure not to trip over the tails. They’d just make it up as they danced.

-------------------------------------------------------------------- Now with a spoopy companion, aisling maneuvered through the crowds of people. She had spotted a fortune teller booth she just had to try out to see how good they were later, and a table with a bunch of nezubats. However what drew her attention were the mutated plushies, they were so scary they were cute in a weird way. Surprisingly the junior attending the booth just smiled and handed her one. Aisling tried to pay but they just shook their head and made her promise to give it a good home. --------------------------------
Finding an empty bench, trivia commandeered it to lay back on. It gave them an excellent view of the ceiling. After all lots of people put decorations on the ceilings and no one really thought to look up there. Of course looking up there at what appeared to be floating brains, Trivia was skeptical they were really decorations. After all that’s not where they would be putting floating brains. Of course if they weren’t brains, then what was it.
As if it wanted to answer their question, the brain floated down to rest on Trivia’s stomach. All three eyes stared at the geist who stared back, which had to look weird considering the glow the geist was admitting. There was an amused bleat as if curled up to sleep. “Oi, not there”
Vega laughed a little. "They are cute, but also a handful. My pumpka, Rana, likes to try to hide my hair ties. All the time. By sitting on them." Vega laughed. "And my homework... and my pillow..." Really his pumpka just took everything when it felt like it. "So yes. I would be happy if you wanted to look after this one." He glanced away shyly. "I mean, it's not like I wouldn't come and visit..." Not with how much time they spent together.
As he talked to Leto, he could hear someone trying to entice people to come bob for apples. While that sounded fun, Vega was much more interested in Leto right now.
"Dance with you? Why sir, I will have you know I am waiting for my fiance." She teased, looking over her shoulder. "Would you like to dance?" She asked a random stranger, who politely declined. Lau looked back at Obi with a playful smile. "You know I would love to dance." She took his hands. "Oh, that's something we should talk about some time... Parenting and all. I mean, how much help should I be with in raising them?" They were Oberon's son and sister after all. She didn't want to overstep bounds. "But that can be a discussion for later." She took his hands and gently pulled him towards the dance floor.
Miwako: 11 purple bat plush
Miwako was actually really... REALLY happy that she was dancing with Kiri. She managed to drape 2 tails over each arm, and the 5th she was able to avoid easily enough. It was almost like she just had a fur stole on. Her cheeks were still hot as Kiri placed his hands on her, and she placed hers against him in kind. "...A ball like this is really nice." she failed at making small talk. She felt really self conscious, so leaned in and placed her head against Kiri's shoulder as they danced. It didn't last long, however, as a few steps into the dance, Miwako tripped over an adorable bat plushie.
Nashira: 12 There's a distinct candy-colored theme to these familiars. They're excited to get to know you!
Nashira was a little overwhelmed. She really didn't interact with people that well. Seeing everyone being so friendly and outgoing was a little hard to grasp. Nashira was social, but she didn't go out of her way to meet new people. It just wasn't her way. As she watched the happy people dancing and talking, she heard a compliment from someone near by. Looking at the naga, she thanked her politely, then suddenly found her vision invaded by orange, as a jellyfish floated in front of her face. Nashira had a lot of familiars, but this one... it was so cute! And she just couldn't say no to it. She reached up and gently cupped the squishy mass and moved it out of her face and smiled at it. "Hello." It was much easier to talk to familiars.
Charon: 7 If you do not have a Brown Potion: You see a fortune telling tent and decide to enter it. The person inside offers you a free riding.
What was this? A fortune telling booth? Charon smiled and walked inside for his free reading. He thought divination was pretty cool, but... it became apparent that this person wasn't very good. They were going to try reading tea leaves... and spilled it all over Charon. Charon decided to go home.

Onyx: 14 Spooky rat
There really was something spooky about this time of year. Onyx was about to ask a cute little cherub to dance when a flitterat... ran... through a table? No no, that wasn't right. There was no way. Oh, it was being chased by his new vespercat. Onyx waited until the rat was close, then scooped it up, much to the cat's dismay. Was it wise to bring them both home?
It was time to Go. Yuta just wasn't having fun without Yuka. He was about to leave when he spotted the junior selling plushies again. Yuta decided to grab one more, a souvenir for Yuka.
Sesha was nervous with this strange kid. He didn't know them, and here they were about to dance. Thankfully, his thoughts were derailed as he was suddenly handed a tiny white bat plush and... just started laughing. "Oh my nine it's so tiny!" He laughed at the palm sized toy, holding it so the imp could see too.

Nicolae: 1 Blue rammykin
The song changed and it was much faster now. Nicolae had to practically dive off the floor before he got squished by all those too tall people. He made it to a bench and sat down with a sigh. This was really stressful! He just needed to take a breather... He was about to close his eyes when there was something fluffy in front of him. He reached for it. So soft... He snuggled his face into it before realizing it was a rammykin.
There was a young student walking around the ball, and Nora was... surprised and amused by their suit. It was pretty horrible, but that might have been their costume? She was more so surprised when a bottle of liquid was placed in her hands.
Well, there hadn't been a pumpka patch that she could find. Atropos was feeling tired, and decided it was time to take a break. Someone called her over to try bobbing for apples, but she declined playing. She did come and sit to keep the game master company for a while, however.
Bowie saw them coming a mile away. That suit was unmistakable. He did his best not to laugh. He complimented them on their costume, and the kid shoved a potion bottle at him before leaving. Was... that not a costume?
Treat smiled at Amber and tried to reach for her hand but he was afraid he might have poked her in one of her eyes in his clumsy move. He pulled back and said "Umm I'm sorry I'm sorry." Treat said in a nervous rush. "Uh do you want to go check out the fortune tellers booth? Get our cards read?" Treat was flustered and worried that Amber would think him a jerk and a fool for poking her in one of her eyes. He waited for her to say something holding his breath in a near panic over what she would say.
Micari smiled at the figure that held the brown potion bottle she had just complimented and she said "Thank you too." Then Micari held out her hand to Fiore and asked "Would you like to dance with me?" The desire to dance with someone came over her in a very strong desire. She needed to dance with someone and Fiore was right there so it made sense to ask the being before her. Micari wondered what they liked to do. She figured she would ask after she got her answer on if they wanted to dance with her or not.
Avocado looked around the ballroom then went outside to see the baby familiars there Avo laughed as a bunch of them came over to him bumping into him for attention. Avocado smiled and did his best to give them all attention though it wasn't easy with so many little baby familiars coming up to him for attention. He was having fun though so he wasn't worried it wasn't like little baby familiars were going to hurt him. He laid back on the ground and just let the pumpka babies overtake him he laughed some more as they thumped over him.
Kaimana picked up the spooky plushie and pressed its tummy he smiled and thanked the junior who was watching over the table. Then he wandered off to see what else was going on at the party he let his sister drag him here so he might as well have fun while he was stuck here. He looked around for someone to talk to or maybe someone to dance with. Kaimana remembered the say he had met a freshling and they had spent time together talking about music. He wondered what had happened to them, had they moved on would he ever see them again?
Sign looked around the ball and looked for someone to dance with when a ghostly vespercat jumped into his arms well alright then. He went out onto the dance floor to dance with his new familiar. He smiled more grinning showing off his sharp teeth. He was a naiad hybrid and looked rather spooky himself sometimes. So he wasn't bothered by the spooky vespercat, he wondered who if anyone would want to dance with him in his simple tux and mask. He was brightly colored enough in his point of view with his bright green markings. He danced for a while with his new familiar.
Silver found the table piled high with cute little bat plushies she smiled and picked up a pretty white one that fit in her hands. She then went to sit down and watch the others dancing across the dance floor. She smiled watching everyone in their tuxes and dresses it was really a beautiful site. It was nice to be spending a night by herself without Sylkie bossing her around. She wanted to do this all the time. She didn't want to work for her sister anymore. Sylkie needed to grow up and take care of herself rather than Silver doing all the work.
Amalthea felt something of her shoulder and a whisper in her ear she turned and looked but there was nothing there she felt like something was there then again she had felt it before and hadn't seen anything so perhaps it was just a little haunted hallows trick and no big deal. Thea went out on the dance floor to see who all was around maybe she could find someone to talk to and dance with so she could distract herself from the spooky things. She looked about a little uncertain who she should ask to dance. She shifted her feet nervously.
Enju smiled a little as he waited for the other being to answer his request to dance with them, he took their hand so they could go out on the dance floor to dance. Enju was going slow and leaving room for their partner to take over leading the dance. His steps were fairly graceful though still not very confident in his movements often looking at his feet worried he might step on the other beings feet and make them mad at him. He looked up and said "So umm what do you like to do??" Enju asked in his soft uncertain voice.
Aurora had already had some familiars come up to her she blinked as yet another came to her, she seemed to be finding a lot of familiars lately. She decided to tell them all to head for her home giving them directions she hoped they would all find their way home alright. She figured she would have some of the familiars join her at work. Aurora had been running a bookshop she owned for a while now. She enjoyed being around books all day they made her happy. She sat down off to the side watching the others dancing and such.
