Laurel admired the necklace as it was clasped on. It was super pretty, wasn't it? And the fact that Arcadia said it suited him made it even better!
"Ohh! Yeah, yeah! Lots of luck!" He exclaimed, tugging at the backpack he was wearing. "I won a bunch of plushies and a vesperkitten! I named her Cocoa Butter!"
He turned to take the bag off his back so he could inspect his plushies and looked up as the yellow goat was presented to him, his eyes widening.
"For me? Are you sure?" He gasped reaching out for it and giving it a hug. "Thank you, Arcadia! He's so cute!"

Kobe stretched as he nommed on some of his food. Once he finished, he climbed up on the table and asked politely for a turn. His first throw, he missed completely but he wasn't discouraged! The second only knocked down a couple of the bottles which was a tad bit discouraging. He looked at the last ball he got the throw and gave it a little pout. "Now you be a good friend and knock the bottles down so I can win...okay?" He laughed then tossed the ball. He jumped up in excitement when the ball knocked the last remaining bottles down. In fact, he jumped in such excitement that he actually fell off the booth table and landed on his bum. Pouting, the young grim pulled himself up and pointed to a bottle, "That one, please and thank you" he said as he barely was able to see over the table. He smiled happily as it was handed to him, slipping it onto his neck proudly.
“So we’re not suddenly going to have you’re significant others show up are we?” Nasai asked looking over the game. She wanted everyone that still went to the academy to try first to get the prizes but somewhere just soo cute that she couldn’t help herself. A lot of her stuff had gotten lost apparently forever in the move to Leviathan so all the cute necklaces and plushies where really hitting home. “Pffft you significant other is here, why can’t I have mine here to keep me company” Lerin teased deciding to play a game. It was risky on her part since she definitely had a complex about losing and she didn’t want to ruin the night. Of course if she went in thinking she was going to lose maybe it wouldn’t urk her so bad… luckily however after two busts the ring went around the neck of the bottle. Of course now she had a prize. Whoops… maybe she could give it to Yue or Morin? Speaking of which when where they going to get back with food.
Humming softly to herself, Zahneel paused at another table. It was another ball toss, but that was all right. Zahneel just liked having fun. And after waiting her turn, she accepted the ping pong balls handed to her and tossed them at the cups that had been set out.
It wasn't long before she was back to exploring the party, this time with a plushie tucked into her arm. Really, games were awesome.
Zalir blinked at the unexpectedly long--and detailed--answer to zeir question. History had never been zeir favorite subject. It tended to involve a lot of people acting very stupidly for the sake of pride, but it would seem that not only did Vaden seem to share this opinion, but it...interested him. At least, it interested him enough to pay attention in social studies. Zalir felt zey had gotten a year's worth of education from one short rant. "It's okay," zey said. "It's, um, not something I ever thought about before. I don't really think about it very much. I, um, I prefer science and magic. I can get a bit obsessed, too," zey added.
Zey resisted the urge to give Vaden a hug or a pat on the back in sympathy. "I'm sorry," zey said. "S-sure, let's move on." Zalir lead the way to the next booth, where an enormous jar of multi-colored candy stood alone on a table. "Write how much you think the candy weighs on a card," the imp running the stall said, "get within five pounds, win a prize! Guess the correct weight and win a grand prize!"
Zalir looked up at Vaden. "This looks interesting?" zey said. Honestly, this booth had a major advantage over the rest: it required intellect, not physical dexterity. "We could both write down our guesses at the same time?"

Vaden's blush slowly faded. "History was just one of the subjects my teachers pushed at home, and I have done some more intense study on my own. Understanding the historical and political ramifications of why people do the things they do," a short pause, "interests me."
He gave the Litch a small smile. "I've never had much aptitude for magic, I learned how to remain substantial at a relatively young age and it stuck. Science is interesting, but I really only understand concepts on what you would probably consider an intermediate level. Anything further and I get lost." he chuckled a bit and gave an amused shrug of his shoulders.
"Some days you just aren't meant to win, and that's okay. It's what you do next that's the important part." he followed Zalir to the next booth and took a moment to look over the jar, listening to the explanation. It honestly wasn't that much of a challenge, if you knew the relative weight of the container, the average size and weight of a piece of candy, it wouldn't be too difficult to figure out the volume of the container and then deduce how much the candy therein weighed, of course remembering to account for the container.
Unless of course there was a trick...there could be any number of things that could throw off the calculations, the jar being weighted with things other than the candy, more than one type of candy, a tube in the center so that the jar was not completely filled. He frowned slightly. "I assume we're not allowed to pick up the jar?" he asked the keeper of the table.
"Nope. Visual guesses only."
Vaden sighed, of course they couldn't pick it up. He honestly wondered though if the Academy would actively attempt to trick their students...he didn't think it likely. Now if this had been a Geist school? The jar would most definitely be rigged. He then looked over at his companion and nodded. "Seems fair to do it your way." Vaden picked up a piece of paper and slid down to one side of the paper and then looked over at Zalir. "On your mark get set, go!" and he immediately set to figure out a probable answer.
==============
After a few minutes Vaden handed over his answer.
"Sorry kid, not even close."
Vaden blinked in surprise. He'd been fairly sure his answer was correct. He frowned deeply and eyed the jar. Maybe it had been rigged...
He looked over at Zalir and shrugged. "Do any better?"
Zey shrugged. "I haven't had much opportunity for magic, either," Zalir confessed. "Litches, um, we don't do magic until we're a bit older." Wait--someone who studied people, so-- "But, um, you already knew that." Zalir blushed, but zey also felt zeir face do something incredible--zey smiled. Vaden's reaction to zeir, well, to zeir reaction had relaxed the Litch more than people ordinarily could do.
Zey looked the jar over, peering at the candies inside. Some were different sizes, some were different shapes, all of them were packed in so tightly it was impossible to see what was in there. After inspecting the jar as much as zey could, zey picked up a piece of paper and one of the tiny pencils scattered around the table. "Ready!" Zalir scrawled a number down on the card and handed it to the imp.
The imp shook her head, then accepted Vaden's piece of paper. "Nope," zey said in answer to Vaden's question. "I think I overestimated." Zey looked to the imp.
The imp shrugged. "A mystery for the ages. Sorry, kids. Better luck next time!"

"Oh my, You've done really very well! What is your kitten called? I won two fishes, Well I won one, and the other was given too me becuase someone didn't want him!" Stands up and takes his hand, "Shall we go play another game together?!"
"True, Litches do live longer than anyone else so, I suppose you come into your own talents later than anyone else." he pondered for a moment. "But from what I read the Academy doesn't even let you attempt any sort of magic until your junior year, and nothing overtly serious until you're a senior?" he glanced at them for confirmation. He'd only briefly read the pamphlets on his flight over. "So it's understandable if you haven't really blossomed in that respect yet, and a healthy interest never hurt anyone at all." he offered the Litch a smile back.
Once they'd finished with the jar Vaden gave a glance back and had to quell the desire to run back and shake the jar. "I'm fairly sure the jar is rigged, it's a very simple volume puzzle..." he shook his head and turned back to the direction they were walking on their way to the next game.
"I named her Cocoa Butter!" Laurel laughed. "Because she's colored like chocolate and vanilla pudding!"
He smiled as Arcadia talked about her fish and eagerly pulled out the bowl with his new jellyfish buddy inside of it.
"I won a jellyfish, too! What do your fishies look like?" He asked, grinning. "Oh, yes, please! What do you want to play?"

He watched for a long while, taking things in before approaching one of the booths. A Nightmare backed into him as they were trying to leave and he accepted the hurried apology as he reached for a token to drop into the game. The Chimera watched it click-click-click over the pegs, but of course, his bravery entering the crowd amounted to nothing. He didn't even get a booby prize. Arden thanked the table runner before stepping back into the sea of monsters, looking for his next game to approach.
Still too intimidated by strangers and (in her mind) bad at making friends, Ash looked at the students flocking in the hall and mingling among each other. Now and then, she'd sneak closer to a group, and slip a charm or some sort of accessory in their pockets or bags before quickly retreating. It seemed like the older she grew, the more elaborate her crafting became, and she was proud of her work, thinking it should be spread out there, to whoever might wear them nicely.
The next table she headed for had a little lottery barrel. You spun it, and a ball would fall out. Then, depending on the color of the ball you would receive a prize. Luck was apparently not really on her side today, but she managed to get a bag of candy as a consolation prize!
After winning the prize he had planned to give to Tobias, Kobe looked around to the other tables. He went to climb up another table when he noticed that it actually had a chair, climbing up on that instead. Trying for the game, the little grimm didn't have much luck. He was unable to get the ring on the bottle. Hopping off the chair he sighed sadly before moving to find another game. He's have to try much harder if he wanted to give his whole pack presents! He loves his family more than anything! After all, grimms weren't exactly a common race...or at least that is what he learned in school. So it was best to stick together with them and make them alllllll happppppy!

“Well mostly because we’re still testing the grounds between each other. If seth and Allie showed up I would spend my whole night glaring at them and they would be trying to steal all your attention. Besides its family and old friends night” Nasai replied deciding to try the games after all. Of course she had as much luck as her twin, which is to say she was now sporting her own plushie… whoops. “hey they aren’t that bad, they’re just getting used to you. They don’t have their own families and on top of that you’re my twin so its hard to relate at times I think…Besides I was teasing. Seth and Allie wouldn’t do to well with Morin and Yue I think. Well maybe… hmmm” Lerin pondered.
