He attempted to sound reassuring with her. "Oh I know it doesn't quite look right yet... but the serum seems to be developing fine. You just have to go through a bit of a rough stage."
"You'll be a very pretty bird." Moreau said.

"A dove," Kaveri repeated skeptically. "Den explain to me why eating my regular food -- my vegan food and vegetables -- make me sick now. Doves don't eat meat." She spat the word like a curse, and dearly missed her ability to eat food that didn't completely disgust her.
"Listen, it's not cool to ******** wid my diet," she said pointedly, "and how do I know you're not stuffing me full of bullshit like dat Sabin guy?"
"I don't like bullshit," she growls, her voice cracking into a croaklike growl at the end. She knew she couldn't do so much as break Moreau's pinky nail, but she sure wanted that Moreau guy to know how she felt!

Well, I guess the ruse was up then. Probably should have thought about that one a bit longer.
"Hmmm? A Swallow then? A Cardinal? What kind of bird would you like to be turning into?" Moreau's tone had taken a sarcastic glint.

"Stop wid your games, man," Kaveri frowned, becoming more and more bemused by the second. "You should hang out wid Sabin more, he seems more effective at dispensing da bullshit -- kinda like a Pez dispenser. But maybe dat's why you hired him," the vulture-woman chuckled, considering what she just said a fairly harsh burn.
"Just come out and say it. I'm obviously not any kind of songbird, given what I have to eat now. Swallow and cardinal my white-feadered a**." Her neck-ruff puffed up in irritation.

"Figure it out for yourself Ms. Porter... let it rot around in your brain for a while. I'm sure it'll come to you." Moreau hit the button to disconnect Kaveri's line completely. Temporarily of course. She wouldn't be able to use it to call in or out for a while.

Kaveri snarled, faced with the urge to punch the damn intercom despite lacking the capability to ball her 'hands' into fists. "********' lot of help you are!" She hissed as she got disconnected, rapidly tapping the 0 button in vain effort to contact the labs again. It took a moment for her to register the fact that her line was broke -- and it wasn't at her (nonexistent) fists.
She slumped in front of the intercom, slowly easing down into a cross-legged sit with her back hunched and head stuck out low in front of her. "Goddamnit," she groaned, "does anybody here tell the ********' truth?"
Anyone? Bueller?

Abandoned?Duplex 44 has been very quiet for the last few weeks or so. In fact, for the longest time, not even the creaking of stairs can be heard by its downstairs neighbour. The once noisy home of Kaveri was now silent as the death that the vulture represents. The door has been left unlocked and cracked open, drapes closed. If one were to venture in, they would notice that a lot of personal affects are now gone. Even the mattress that was once on the bed is gone. Everything that hasn't been taken is coated with a thin layer of dust, and even the Garuda mask that once gawked at the village from the door is gone. There is no sign of where Kaveri went. She didn't even leave a note. ((OOC: Kaveri has now moved here for the time being. Feel free to arrange RP with me, this was just me trying to figure out what happened to her while I was idle.))

The flies are back... You feel 'off' most of the day... hot, your center of balance is off, and vaguely nauseous. But by midday, there's the buzzing... the buzzing in your ears and a crawling feeling all over your body. Your legs feel dry... so dry, and before your eyes, what skin you had left seems to harden and peel and give way to more dun-grey scales... completely covering your legs from the knees down. The big toe of your foot also disjoints, and misaligns, pointing more backwards than forward. It feels as if someone was breaking them, bending them backwards further than they were supposed to go. But when it's done, while it is certainly sore... it feels stronger, more nimble. Then for the plumage. It's worse than the scales - each feather's thick quill growing through the skin before the feather opens up like some sort of painful flower. It spreads all down your shoulders, chest, down your forming wings. And while your wings are now fully covered in feathers, they're short, scraggly, and certainly not meant for flight. Then it's your face... the hard part... Your tiny protobeak bulges and grows, pushing much further out of your mouth, past the collected skin around your nose and bottom lip, which receed to allow for the hard beak to emerge.

A decent-sized geode half has been left by the door of the duplex you're currently staying in. It appears to have been cleaned off very recently, and the crystals have distinct color even when not being held up to light. There is a note underneath it, on slightly crumpled paper and written in handwriting that was likely never very good to begin with. The note reads: "HAPPY HOLIDAYS, KAVERI."

The changes come suddenly, unexpected, and for Kaveri, bring about more than just physical altercations. How these changes fit into her altering worldview only she can answer, but she likely knows the inevitableness of it all. The feathers swim over her, covering the remaining patches of skin that arent' wrinkeld with the scaly-leathery skin of her feet and remaining fingers, and the brightly colored skin of her head and neck. But with the changes comes strength along wiht the discomfort. Her beak grows stronger - able to crack open bones for the sweet marrow. Her talons and legs... and her wings - fully feathered out and able to grant her just a bit of purchase from the ground. She can glide, catching thermals. For while even though her boines weaken, her wings strengthen. She can't fly like her inspiration.... but she can go for short glides, abandoning the ground if only for a little bit.
