Cass looked.
"It can't," she said, blankly. "Where would they get the DNA to...? I read Jurassic Park, and it's... the whole thing is nonsense." She shook her head. "I know that's what it looks like. But it couldn't."
Hadn't she joked, once upon a time before she'd known what was really up, that they were working on cloning dinosaurs in the lab?

"I know..." She sighed. "I know it's damn near impossible, but it fits to a T..." Kim still stared blankly at the book. "Hell, they even mention fish in here... Dear lord. No way." She shook her head. "...I... Guess I don't have any other option than to ask." Kim bit her lip, visibely a bit unhappy with THAT idea. "I... I don't know if I can do it. I've been keeping away from the staff for a reason, I mean, I don't want to throw them more opportunities to ******** with my mind. I saw this one woman who gave me pills and now I am having nightmares like crazy... and now this."
She definitively felt like she was going insane.

"They did what?" Cass stared. "I can't believe they would... geez. Like we don't have it hard enough."
She stared at the picture a moment. "I don't know. I can't think of any living animals that have a crest like that, but it just seems so... ridiculous."

"Well, im not sure, but the dreams started with the pills. Im going to stop taking them tonight. If they stop, then that would be definitively it."
Kim was sillent for a moment, then sighed again. "...This is insane... But... I need to know. I think you said you could come with me if I was going to ask the staff and all... Uh... Would you mind ? I... Ill'd feel a bit better if you where there and all."

Cass winced slightly. She was not looking forward to dealing with the staff anymore than necessary. "I'll come," she said, after a moment's hesitation. "If you want someone with you, then you should have someone, and I 'm here. I think it's better to know, in some ways."

"If you'lld ratter not, it's okay... I don't want you to feel forced or anything. I mean, I understand where you're coming from..." She definitively didn't want Cass to feel unconfortable.

"You asked, and I will." Cassidy nodded decisively. "Vasile went with me when I had my second change, and I don't think I could have without him. I had an appointment and everything, and I probably would have lost my nerve." Painful thought. Let it go.

Kim just nodded. "...Ill'd probably chicken out too. I tried before, but I kind of stared at the intercom for half an hour then just went on to do something else." It sucked to admit that... But at the same time, it was relieving to get it off her chest.
"I think it might be a better idea to go to my duplex... I don't expecially went people to walk on this." Expecially if it turns out less than stellar.

"I just sort of... well, almost angrily demanded an appointment, because I was still freaking out over the feathers." She laughed wryly. "But that's understandable and a good idea," Cassidy agreed. "This is not a public place... and it is a private subject."

"I can see where you're coming from here." Kim nodded, getting up to replace all the books she had taken, asside the one she had found the pterodactyl in. "Ill'd freak like hell if I sprouted feathers if I was supposed to be a snake... Hell, ill'd freak if I was sprouting feathers period. That can't be a wonderful feeling." She cringed at the thought, as she did her best to place the books in order. Once she was finally done with the task, she tucked the book she was keeping under her arm. "Well... I guess we should be going before I chicken out of it again..." She swallowed the lump that was forming into her throat.

---------------------------------------------------- New RP On the road to find out
What a fine turn of events. An uncooperative jerk of a doctor, a broken intercom, and Kaveri still doesn't know what the hell she's supposed to be. That said, she wasn't a very happy camper at this rate -- and if Moreau wasn't going to tell her, she may very well try to find out for herself.
That involved leaving her duplex, much to Kaveri's chagrin, but she figured she'd stop by the entertainment room after snarfing down some steaks from the cafeteria. The vulture-woman enters the otherwise empty room, dragging her walking stick with every step as she makes her way over to the bookshelf. She squats down to the lowest shelf with the biggest books on them before hooking the spine of an illustrated encyclopedia of raptors on her finger and letting it spill backwards onto the floor. Not having many fingers made turning pages difficult, but she was going to manage.
She was going to find out what she was, come Hell or high water.

"I can show you the world, hum hum humm de de dumm de" She didn't exactly know the words, but she was in a good mood and there for full of song. Of course being in a bad mood was hard for Colche, only on a few occassions ad she ever acctually been extremely sad or angry or frightened since coming to the island.
As was the little cheetah girls norm when she didn't have lessons or wasn't down at the beach she was headed for the entertainment room to watch a dvd and sing along as best she could. Her favourite DVD's were the disney ones even more so the ones about princesses and princes, and dragons and towers and damsels in distress, stories with songs which she could sing to and ultimately try to recite as she padded along.
Of course upon opening the door she paused, new person? The scent was unfamiliar to her, no, she had smelt it before but not met the person behind the smell. Well, it certainly explained the scent of feathers. Giggling softly she waved and bounced over to the couch in her usual 'birthday suit' She bounced in to the cushions and tilted her head in a cat like manner a fangy tooth peering over her lip "watcha readin'?" she smiles brightly those sweet beautiful blue eyes resting upon the vulture woman and the book she was so deftly weilding. She loved to read and delighted in listening to others tell stories from books.

Kaveri turns her head at the sound of the door opening, looking over her shoulder with a cautious stare while still hunching over the book. She hasn't seen this person before, but she seems rather friendly for what appears to be a human-sized feline predator. Needless to say, being a bird, Kaveri felt rather aloof around anything that might have the potential to eat her.
Well. Nevermind she felt comfortable around Jamal, but she didn't know this girl. Kaveri's neck-ruff stood up and she raised her head, reaching to grab up the encyclopedia.
"Dis? It's an encyclopedia of raptors," she said, extending a scaly finger to a picture of a hawk in the book, "birds of prey." She tried to smile beneath the beginnings of a beak, "I'm not food by de way, kitty. My name is Kaveri."

"Bird of prey" she purrs and giggles mimicking Kaveri's speach pattern in a childish manner. She had never heard of that book before, it was like the book on big cats within whos pages lay the creature she was becoming. "Ka..very" She bites her tongue but only for a moment taking in new names was easier these days than it used to me. "I'm Colche." She grins proud of herself with this smallest of accomplishments. Learning to not just say her name had been quite the herdle for her.
Blinking a few times at the statement that she wasn't food Colche looked confused, "uhm" Could she reply with any more than that? She had never attacked anyone on the island it was even questioned if she could despite being a big cat now in essence, she was still small and slender, cheetahs wern't known for their strength and theer were very few islanders whom were acctually smaller than her.
"What is you be?" she smiles puffing up a bit as she grinned and spoke her own animal as she always did "Ima Princess cheetah" she giggles happily, she knew the word was king now, she had attempted to read the pages of the book which held her creature mostly unsuccessfully, but still, she knew that a young girl cheetah was a princess and she would stick to that fact like glue.

"It's nice to meet you, Colche," Kaveri said stiltedly, flipping through a few pages trying to find a white bird of prey. She came across a picture of a swallowtail kite, dragging her finger across the picture before looking over at her own tail. Hmm... not very swallow-like. Heck, her tailfeathers weren't even black. The kite didn't even have a neck ruff, either.
"Dat's what I'm trying to find out," Kaveri said in response to the cheetah-girl's question, "All I know, I'm a bird of some kind. One dat eats meat." She gnawed on her bottom lip and flipped through more pages, scratching her ruff with her finger. "Do you want to help me find out?"
