While JR was off putting himself in grave danger, Trey was wringing out his hat and looking around. He needed to find his pokemon, even though he was pretty sure JR... hopefully had some idea of where they were. Still, he wasn't going to wait around until he returned with his communicator, and see if he would be oh so generous as to also show him where his pokemon were. Instead, he put his hat onto his bag, and started walking, letting it dry while his crimson eyes swept the area in search for them. Cherish and Shade had dropped off tickets earlier, so they might still be playing games. Then again, knowing them, they may have also run off... and rolled in mud. He grimaced a bit at the idea, absently reaching a hand to his own healing wounds. Damn birds...

Trey wandered through the area, even visited some of the other sections of the carnival, but found himself back and frowning. He couldn't find his pokemon out in the open, so maybe they had gone to one of the haunted houses or something? He began shuffling through the pokemon he had on him, trying to see if any of them could perhaps help in the search. Honestly, he had a few options, but Carona seemed like the best, and more reliable, one, given he wasn't exactly familiar with most of the others. He pulled out the volcarona's pokeball and looked it over, before tossing it in the air. Hopefully he could provide an assist in finding the two....

As Trey was explaining things to Carona, a familiar sound started to reach his ears. He cut off, turning and listening, then narrowing his eyes. When he'd left the tent, he'd gone and tried to search for those damn birds, then quickly redirected his focuses to just go get his hat, deciding he wasn't quite sure he was ready to face off with the little venom feather brains at the time. He still wasn't feeling very good, honestly. And yet now, it seemed they were still following him, which was irksome, given that Reese had just as much, if not more, to do with their.... nest, or whatever, being disrupted. And why had they bothered following him out here if that was all they were irked about, anyway?

Trey turned and quickly signaled to Carona to go ahead and leave, before turning to scan the surrounding area with narrowed eyes. Honestly, it wasn't smart leaving himself unguarded, without any of his trusted pokemon, but he was aware of that. He was depending more on the many people around him to act as a protective force, and it seemed that trust was well founded; when he did locate the pokemon, they were on the edge, staring at him, but not advancing. The white one, oddly colored, but, he was fairly sure, female, was staring, clicking and chittering and looking very much like she wanted to attack. The other one -- which he was starting to suspect might be her brother -- was much more relaxed, looking as though he were very done with his sister's antics, but refused to leave her alone, and wasn't just quite up to trying to get her to stop, either. What a pair...

Trey stared back at the two birds, and even maintained eye contact as he turned, before his head snapped forward, and he began walking again, taking long, quick steps. It wasn't that he was scared, or trying to run away-- he was just testing them. Even though he seemed set on his destination, he was listening intently in the direction they'd been, off to the side, trying to hear through all the ruckus of the people around him and the various attractions, to see if they were still following. As the crowd thinned at one point, he turned, and upon spotting the female running along, and then stopping, again looking ready to pounce, he stopped-- and promptly hurled a pokeball in her direction.

Dallas had resorted to goofing around with his phone while waiting for Naomi to show up. And when that got boring, he switched to Austin's phone to read some fan messages and answer a few questions on his blog. But soon, he spotted Ieyasu making his way for him, which meant Naomi was close behind. He quickly shoved both phones into his bag, just as the pirate came over to tease him for getting lost. "You keep boopin' me like that and I'll have to start boopin' you back," he threatened halfheartedly. He grumbled as he often did, until the pirate offered a hand to him. Holding...hands? With Nao-kun?... He tried not to look so enthusiastic as he stood up and grabbed hold of Naomi's hand. "Geez, get a little turned around and now you wanna hold hands," he said, trying to save face. "You probably just got scared and needed Ya big boy Dallas to keep you safe." Nevertheless, he held onto Naomi's hand, gently, yet tight, for as long as he could.
As Dallas sallied forth, he didn't say all that much, more just enjoying the moment for what it was. He had a mild expression of disdain as usual, though he was overjoyed to be having this moment with Naomi. And, because of Ieyasu and the backtracking they had already done to find Dallas, good progress was made. Corn Maze! Total Feet: 30 Plushies: 2 T1 Day 2: T1T2T3 T4

As the two young men continued forward, a silence had occurred. At first, it was pleasant, as they could just enjoy being in each other's company if they so desired. But as it continued on, Dallas started to become nervous again, as he himself wasn't prone to being a silent person. Should I try to start some small talk or something? Does Naomi like being quiet? Honestly, I don't really know a whole bunch about him...I oughtta fix that, I guess.
"S-so -ahem- So, Nao-kun," he started, poorly, "If I remember right, you're out to adventure and stuff away from home, yeah? So, uh, what's your family like?" Whether Naomi gave a long answer, a short one, or none at all, Dallas noticed that they were still heading in the supposed right direction.

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Nada, actually
As Dallas listened to whatever response he had received, he noticed that he could start to hear the sound of the Spookival more than before. "Sounds like we're almost there, Nao-kun," he noted. "No thanks to me, heheh. Good thing you brought Ieyasu along, for sure!" The skeleton didn't give a lot of praise, so he figured he should make up for it now. "You're a pretty good trainer, you know," he complimented. He felt the tingly feeling in his chest again, so he quickly threw in a classic insult. "I mean, for a dweeb in a yukata, that is. Either that, or you got some amazing Pokemon that are totally carrying you." Corn Maze! Total Feet: 50 Plushies: 2 T1 Day 2: T1T2T3 T4T5T6

At Dallas' threat, Naomi only flashed a grin before tossing his sword-arm behind his back. "Do your worst," he quipped. Once the male fell into line, agreeing to hold his hand until they escaped the maze, the pirate urged his first-mate to take the lead once more. "Pirates fear nothing! I am doing this for your sake, Dallas," he, boldly, informed him. Naomi squeezed Dallas' hand, just before he started moving, and looked over his shoulder at the male, "Make sure you hold on. Ieyasu and I will not rescue a second time." Of course, he was only kidding, as was evident by the large grin he bore; a good captain did not leave a member of his crew behind, after all.

As enjoyable as the, relative, silence was (after all, they were still in a corn maze located in the middle of a busy fair), Naomi was more than ready to break it, and was already gearing up to pepper Dallas with whatever question that came to mind. Fortunately for the blonde, he beat him to it. "Hm?" Naomi perked up, then turned his head slightly so that he could look at Dallas. "Well, I belong to a three person family -- that is to say, I am an only child. My mother is a seamstress and owner of a small store, and my father a tea shop owner; their stores are side-by-side, so people often come by for tea and a snack while waiting for simple repairs." What else could he say about his family... or, rather, what else could he say without saying too much? "Although I do not have any siblings, my father's brother has three children, and we are all close in age, so in a way they are like my siblings," he added. "What about your family, Dallas? What are they like?" After all, he didn't know too much about his family either.

Dallas' question inevitably brought Naomi to question how his family was doing back home, and unearthed a twang of homesickness; he was having fun, being out on his own for once and making new discoveries, but he couldn't help but to miss his family and his home. Thankfully he had Ieyasu and Sousa, the two pokemon he'd known the longest and caught back in Ransei. "Ieyasu is a reliable partner," Naomi remarked, loud enough for the Eevee to hear. As large as he smiled at Dallas' compliment it was quick to diminish upon his insult, though not from distress or wounded pride. He frowned thoughtfully, recalling the previous battles he and his pokemon had faced. "I would like to think that my team and I share equal parts in our success thus far, but... it is hard to tell," he admitted. "I have always wanted to be a trainer. Ieyasu and I used to participate in battle competitions when we were younger, but it never felt like it was enough."
Naomi looked ahead, where Ieyasu had no stopped and was investigating a small plushie, similar to the one Dallas had found earlier. "I wanted to explore new areas, and meet new pokemon. My parents did not want me to become a trainer, and they are still skeptical of it now, they want me to spend more time gaining experience for a practical occupation." Naomi stopped. The longer he talked, the more he began to question why he was expounding. It wasn't necessary for him to reveal this much, especially when Dallas hadn't even asked. Slightly embarrassed, he walked forward to pick up the plushie and show to Dallas; his awkward, and rough way of seguing the conversation. "This one looks a lot like the one you found, Dallas! Perhaps you did not find a child's lost toy."

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Nada, actually
Dallas listened as Naomi spoke of his family. They sounded like pretty normal people with decent jobs. It was surprising to hear that Naomi was an only child; Dallas had figured the plucky guy would've come from a whole gaggle of siblings for some reason. Maybe Dallas just thought bigger families were happier? The mention of three cousins to spend time with seemed to help his theory. "Oh, so there's more of you wandering around then?" he joked. When asked about his own family, Dallas instinctively clammed up, but, remembering the advice he had recently gotten (from a conman), he decided to try honesty again.
"Well, I'm an only child, too," he started. "I don't know much about my old man. Dude was supposed to be some sorta big-shot trainer or something. He up and disappeared when I was like, 6 or 7. Mom says he got eaten by an Arbok. Heh, she might be right as far as I know. Mom is...she's okay, I guess. She's an accountant back in Goldenrod City, when she's not hitting the sauce, if ya know what I mean." Dallas realized he was being very negative; there had to be something nice he could say about some of his family, right? "Oh, and I got a little cousin named Lucille," he added, remembering the disgustingly cheery mute. "She's ridiculously optimistic, like you. Matter of fact, you two would get along so well it'd make me puke!" He smiled some, but it lightened as she shrugged his shoulders. "But yeah, I don't really talk to any of them. I didn't burn any bridges or anything, but they really don't want much to do with me after I got out."
As they traveled on, Naomi spoke more about training and his desire to be a trainer, despite his parent's wishes. It was clear that the pirate didn't talk about these sorts of things often. It was all the more clear when he went forward to find another plushie. But instead of engaging in the segue, Dallas decided to try to...empathize. "You know, I know exactly what you're talkin' about, Nao-kun," he said gently. "After my old man left or died or whatever, my mom straight up forbade me from becoming a trainer. Which really sucks when you're a kid in this big world of Pokemon, right? I guess that's why I started to look into coordination, I guess...point is, it's like I said back at that sushi joint: you're responsible for your own happiness and your own dreams, so you gotta do what you gotta do, even if the people around you don't believe in you."
Remembering Sushi High Roller reminded Dallas of everything else that happened that night, including the kis-
"Oh hey, l-look there's the exit!" Dallas pointed down the last remaining path, which was lit up and marked with a sign congratulating people for finding their way out. "We made it, all thanks to you and Ieyasu." Near the exit was a stand that was giving away prizes in exchange for the plushies. "So that's what they were for! Well, let's see what I can get..."

The bird shrieked in surprise as the pokeball hurled her way, and she leaped up, but was unable to dodge as it plunged right into her. Immediately, it bounced off, snapped open, and absorbed the little chick into the pokeball, before plopping into the mud. Trey watched passively as it twitched a few times, then looked away as it snapped open, releasing a furious looking peafoul. He immediately turned on his heel and resumed walking, much faster this time, sa he heard her chirping furiously, and... loudly. He glanced back briefly to see her now running through the crowds, fearlessly, spurred by her rage, and glanced away. That... was less than great. Still not panicking, or allowing himself to fear much, he picked up a pace. Hopefully Carona would find at least some of his pokemon, or even JR, and soon...

Thankfully for Trey, Carona was locating his team, or at least, the majority of it. The fire bug floated over the carnival, not particularly determined to find the familiar faces, but by chance, drifted over the cornfield, and noticed a few figures. A confused and irritated looking grovyle, talking with a much more frustrated vaporeon-- he didn't know them, per se, but he was fairly certain they were Trey's, from what the teen had told him, and what he'd gathered of the adopted pokemon. He swept down, gently dancing fire around himself as he did a slow spin in the air, catching their attention, and then lifting back up. For further up ahead, near the exit, were Shade and Cherish, who had somehow passed the other two, yet again, and were nearing the edge of the maze. Hopefully, Carona could round them all up, and lead Trey back to them while they made it the final distance to the pokemon.

"Yes, there are. Though, they all live in Ransei." So, Dallas wouldn't have to worry about ever running into his cousins -- if that was a thing to worry about. Naomi, back on listening mode, nodded his head softly in between sentences. It kept him from jumping in and interrupting the male as he spoke. "...when she's not hitting the sauce, if ya know what I mean." He didn't, it wasn't a familiar phrase, but he'd pretend that he did. Dallas' family life wasn't exactly what he'd expected, not to say he had any set expectation or idea of what his family would be like, but he simply figured it'd be... of the norm? If that made sense. "Lucille sounds wonderful, I would love to meet her," Naomi remarked, quick to jump onto the, one, positive his friend had made mention of. He didn't have much experience in familial issues, at least not on par with Dallas', and so he was at a loss for what to say.
It was a good thing this plushie was here, and another one too, all but its leg hidden by stalks of corn. Naomi plucked it up as well, then turned to Dallas with both, quite eager to begin talking about them, than anything else. Unfortunately, Dallas didn't take the bait, which, Naomi supposed, was a good a thing, it showed that he cared. And yet, he found that all he could do was bow his head, a sign of gratefulness for his friend's words. "I am glad that you were able to find realize your dreams among the coordinating world, despite the negativity." Truly, he was glad to have someone who could sympathize with him, through a situation similar to his.
Upon Dallas' exclamation Naomi looked ahead, and brightened when he saw the exit. "I think we made good time~" he proclaimed as he ran ahead, attention, and person, drawn to the prize stand. There were so many things one could purchase! And the plushies were... bartering chips? A strange monetary system, to be sure. "I do not know what I want..." Naomi admitted, after a full minute of item browsing.
