Silently, Staraptor landed at the edge of the town, and once her talons had touched down she turned her head, as best she could, to look at the small human still on her back. He seemed not to have noticed they’d landed, and instead was still huddled into the tight ball he’d curled himself into. That was… worrisome, were they just going to stay here all day then? That wasn’t good, considering that Staraptor was, over fifty percent positive, it was this town that was causing this reaction. Exactly why, she wasn’t sure.

Unwilling to allow her passenger to remain in this state, Staraptor prepared to take flight once more and make for… anywhere better than this dreary town, when Cloud wiggled out from underneath the despondent Huey and landed on the ground. He turned around to face his trainer, then waggled one arm to gently lift a single pokeball from off his belt, with his psychic ability. He made a waving motion with both hands, releasing Beep from within, and quickly garnered his attention, the Mega Ampharos taking immediate note of their trainer’s condition. He frowned, deeply, but before he could reach out to console the boy, Cloud gathered his attention and urged him to help search for an egg. Beep, perplexed, eventually obliged after a few psychic messages were passed between each other, and together the two wandered into the fog of the city.
Staraptor watched, even more confused than before, but decided it’d be best to stay where she was, since the entire party was no longer together. Thankfully, it wasn’t long before the duo returned, egg in bound, and after Beep placed the egg into Huey’s bag, and Cloud back onto Staraptor, he returned himself. There, Cloud took over, using his psychic abilities once more to return the pokeball to Huey’s belt, and then urged Staraptor to head off again. They were done here, and definitely not coming back anytime soon.

There. If Ashley perceived it all as a taunting boast, fine, but it was a sincere warning, too. Imperium... dealt with things. He might be one of those that acted out their orders, and he would, if they were sent, but they were the ones that would possibly demand action be taken, as opposed to Zak, who was subject to whim if he were to simply take things into his own hands. Turning off his communicator, he lifted his gaze to meet Constance's. "I assume my break is up?" he guessed, pushing off. She nodded, but glanced over as Stranny hopped over with an egg. "Yep. Items certainly made training easier, but if it took effort to obtain those items--especially if it meant going to different cities, in every region--then it wasn't worth it, at least not to Grayson. He watched Ajicka as she collected both her pokemon and her egg before departing, leaving him to his team and Emmet, and as if some spell had broken, the older of the two regained interest and turned to his companion. "That was quite the detour," he commented. Grayson snorted, "you sound jealous." He gave a stretch, pressed his hands firmly into the pocket of his hoodie, and then started back walking to the Pokémon Center.
"I'm not," Emmet defended, his lackadaisical take on the entire situation enough to convince Grayson. "You just don't seem the type to enjoy conversation." The automatic doors slid open, revealing that the inside of the Center was a bit more lively than the town it was situated in. Grayson returned his pokemon before he turned them over to Nurse Joy, and afterwards he took a stance leaning against the counter. "I mean... I don't hate it," he offered, his words sounding unconvincing even to his own ears. "It depends on the person. I guess." He shrugged, eyelids lowering gently to obtain a rather bored expression.

The two stared at each other, Emmet with his blank stare, with subtle hints of un-amusement to compliment it, and Grayson's borderline sleep look. Both refused to look away, having entered an unspoken staring contest, but it wasn't long before Grayson was forced to look away when he had to collect his pokemon; this would be continued, at a later date. "Do you still plan on visiting that tower?" Emmet questioned, breaking the silence between the two as they headed back into the fog ladled city. Grayson thought on this, while the eye not hidden behind a wave of hair searched the fog for his other two pokemon. The tugging sensation that he'd felt earlier was no longer there, and the innate desire that had blossomed within him had withered away; he was no longer interested. "No. We've spent enough time here, might as well move on and try and get that next badge."
That was what trainers did after all, mindlessly collect badge after badge, and that was what he was now, technically. "Do you think your pokemon are ready?" Man, this guy was just full of questions. Grayson sighed. "I don't feel like training them anymore, so I guess," he answered. "I'll give one or two of them a few things. But, that's about it. If they don't do well, then we'll just try again." But man, that would be a pain. Having to backtrack to a building he'd already been to, and fight the same pokemon... He really hoped that his pokemon could get through the first time.
"C'mon, I gotta find those other two," Grayson muttered, but rather than immediately start searching he closed his eyes first. The world turned black as he slowed his breathing, and concentrated on his surroundings. Being in a town known for its spiritual activity, it was harder to lock on to two specific entities--compared to, say, an area such as Cerulean or Pewter--but eventually Grayson managed to hone in on Macaria. Releasing the breath he'd begun to hold, Grayson began walking purposefully. "Needed to clear your mind?" Emmet, as usual, was by his side as the two began to walk. "...Something like that." Came his, lowered, response.

Through the fog they went, Grayson's every step confident, albeit sluggish; he knew where to go, but certainly wasn't in any hurry to get there. There were a few occasions where he changed direction, but it wasn't long after they took another right that he was stopping, and not long after a lone silhouette floated through, followed by the soft scrapping of someone--or something--carrying, what sounded to be, a rather cumbersome burden. "You two find what you needed?" Grayson called out, unfazed by both. "Oh!" Aria, who hadn't even noticed his arrival, ballooned up in excitement before floating over to her trainer. "It's you!"
"Mhm. It's me," he yawned. "Did you find your stuff?" Grayson looked down to Mimikyu, who was weighed down by the.. bundle of sticks he seemed determined to drag around with him. The human raised an eyebrow at this. Mimikyu, catching this, stopped before heaving a sigh, his head falling a bit with the exhale -- he hadn't realized ghosts could get tired. "This is just extra building material," Mimikyu explained, rather proud of himself despite the visible exhaustion. "In case, you know, I'm attacked again. Which, I imagine, with you, will be quite often." Ignoring the slight hint of accusation in his voice, Grayson looked Mimikyu's costume over. He certainly knew what he was doing, its previously broken neck was patched remarkably well, you couldn't even tell it'd ever been broken in the first place. For a moment, Grayson wondered how far Mimikyu's patchwork went, and if he'd be able to fix up anything besides his costume; not that he was going to go tearing his clothes to find out.
"I don't think you'll be able to carry all those sticks," Emmet spoke up, broadcasting Grayson's own thoughts. Mimikyu began to visibly bristle. "If you'd like, there's a bit of room in my bag. I could carry a few, and I do mean a few, of your sticks," he suggested, preemptively putting to a stop the ghost's tantrum. "Oh, uh.. sure." Calming down, Mimikyu turned to his bundle to begin selecting his best sticks. Aria, being the curious balloon that she was, drifted in close to watch him, only to be pushed away by a shadowy claw from underneath Mimikyu's cloth. "Aww..." she pouted, but didn't appear to be too discouraged and floated back over to Grayson. He stared at her, still not used to her cheerful nature himself, but reached a hand out, curious to see what she would do. Aria giggled before wrapping herself around his wrist, now a proper balloon.
Once Mimikyu had collected his smaller, yet decent, sticks, five to be exact, he handed them over to Emmet, looking as happy as a... clothed ghost could. "What's next?" he inquired afterwards, and turned to Grayson for an answer. "We're headed to Vermillion City, got some stuff to do." Leaving it as vague as that, he motioned for Mimikyu to follow him (with the hand Aria wasn't tied to) before he started moving. They'd stayed in this town long enough, and, while the atmosphere had been nice, he doubted Void would appreciate him staying in one place for too long.

Touching down in the quiet hamlet that was his hometown, Sebastian hopped from the back of his flying ride. He gave the creature a gentle pat in thanks before adjusting his bag over his shoulder and starting his way towards his home. The Pokemon Tower loomed in the distance as it often did, and the standard purple haze fell heavy over the town bringing a subtle hint of gloom to everything. Honestly? It didn’t do much for his mood but that was to be expected. A moment of though and he decided he’d head to the Pokemon Center first, sorting through his team and trying to decide if he really needed to keep all the ones he’d had or if he ought to box most of them. He really didn’t if or when he’d be going back to his journey, though this was just a little break right?
Sighing, he rubbed a gloved hand to his face, tapping through the GTS as he considered maybe to give some away instead. If there was a hazardous chance he’d not continue then there was no point in keeping his pokemon with him. Of course, he wasn’t paying much attention and missed his accidental accepting of two pokemon trades on the GTS, not noticing as they went to his box. Eventually he decided he’d mull over this thought later, shutting the PC down and heading out to make his way home. He pulled out his communicator, pondering he should give his family a call and noticing he had a message from… Trey? That was…

Tugging his house key from his bag where it had been safely tucked away since he’d first left home, Sebastian shoved the key in the key hole and unlocked the front door to his home. His arrival was uneventful, but mostly because it appeared that there was no one else around at the time. Odd but given the time of day, not an uncommon. It could very well be that there was a ceremony going on at this moment at the tower that his parents were playing a part in. Though he did question where Nolan was… was he with them?
"Hello?"
Or maybe not. Sebastian perked up a bit at the voice, turning his head in it’s direction to spot his younger brother. "Hey Nolan." He smiled watching as the young boy peeking around the corner bolted out and tackled him in a hug.
"Sebastian!" Nolan squealed, practically jumping in place as his hug tightened around Sebastian’s waist.. "You’re home! I didn’t know you’d be coming back!" Sebastian forced a smile; what should’ve been a joyful family reunion didn’t feel that way. "Ha, yeah. I just thought I’d drop in. I had the time and all," he remarked as he gently pried the boy off of him. Nolan didn’t seem to mind, instead straightening up to stare up at Sebastian with clear excitement.
"That’s so awesome! You said you got all the badges? Can I see? Can I see your pokemon? You have too tell me about your adventure! I bet you’re so strong and stuff!" Immediately he was spit firing questions, rocking on his heels in anticipation. Sebastian maintained the smile, trying hard not to get annoyed. "Where’s mom and dad at?" He inquired to divert the younger boy’s attention.
"Oh! They’re at a service." Nolan blinked, looking caught off guard briefly before his enthusiasm returned and he started up again. "So what’s it like? You gotta tell me all about it! Were the gym leaders hard? Did you meet a bunch of them?" Sebastian winced, looking off to the side to avoid the leery look he wanted to cast at his brother. He raised a hand and rubbed his face, tired smile returned. "Ah… maybe a little later, okay Nolan? I’m a little tired. I think I need a nap and then you can ask me all the questions you like." He responded, hoping that it would be enough. Luckily, as enthusiastic a kid as he was, Nolan knew how to take a hint without asking further questions. He eyed Sebastian a moment before giving an approving nod.
"Oh! Okay sure. I have to go take mom and dad some things anyways." Nolan chirped, turning and quickly jogging to the room he’d been in before to snatch up a case about half his height, already dragging it towards the door. He paused only a moment to beam a smile at Sebastian again and a little wave. "It’s good to have you home Sebs! I missed you!" And with that he was gone.
The older man stayed in place for a long minute, staring at the door in silence before finally dropping facade of a smile in a huff, turning and making what felt like a weighted trek to his room.

Once secluded in his room, Sebastian tossed his bag on his bed to begin unwinding. The room hadn’t changed a bit since he’d left for his journey and he felt that should’ve brought him a level of comfort. It really didn’t though. Instead, he simply sat on the edge of the bed himself and placed his face in his hands trying to breath.
But he broke down anyways. If there was one thing in the world that Sebastian did not like, it was giving in and breaking down. But he did and in this moment, it was really all he had in him not to make it worse. He figured coming home might alleviate the sudden bout of stress and disappointment that had suddenly overtaken his mood. Of course, deep down he knew that wasn’t entirely the case but, in this moment, he didn’t have the strength to confront it. What was the point, after all?
Sniffling, he wiped the tears out of his eyes and stood to head for the bathroom to wash up. His mood certainly wasn’t improved but there was no point going to bed with a tear streaks and red eyes. Sebastian tugged off his gloves and washed his face, finding the cool water at least soothing in that moment. Maybe he’d take a shower? He wasn’t sure he wanted to do that right now though. He just wanted to do something…

He’d mentioned napping but maybe it was best to head over to the tower and see if there was any way to assist his parents. Even though a little voice in the back of his head nagged and suggested that subjugating himself to the depressing atmosphere of the Pokemon Tower was in no way shape or form a good idea, but he drowned that out in favor of taking action.
Sebastian gave a sigh and moved to his bag again to pull out a few things and put them away. As he did so, an odd little music box tumbled free from his belongings, a confused look crossing his face. How’d that get in there? He didn’t recall ever seeing it nor picking it up at any point.
Did one of his pokemon take it? Sebastian tried to think hard on that but couldn’t recall a period where any of them might have had the chance. The only one who might’ve done such a thing would’ve been Rummy but well… that was a whole other mess on its own.
However it got into his things, the chances of returning it to its original owner were small at this point. Picking it up he gave it a look over; it was antiquated in look, with a tarnished finish and a crank handle with a worn wooden handle. Hm, it might’ve been worth something. Or just junk; did it even still work.
The young man sniffled again before gripping the handle and slowly beginning to crank it about. He winced a little at the creaky noise that was produced at first, tempted to stop in the event it damaged the thing. Fortunately it seemed to just me a lack of use that produced the first few notes and soon the tune that was produced was a sort of soft lullaby.
It was almost soothing in a way and for the first time in a while, his mood felt a bit… lifted? Maybe that wasn’t entirely correct. But he certainly felt a tad bit calmer. Sebastian set the little box down on his desk to finish playing and went abou flopping into bed. The soft lull of music actually had him feeling tired. Maybe a nap wouldn’t be so bad…
