Race: 1/2 Alk 1/2 Geian Gender: Male Parents: Nytarra (Geian/Mom), Jacek (Geian/Dad), & Velora (Alkidike/Mom) Siblings:Cathán and Hiruna Physical Description: Yazeed is a large, hulking mass of a lad. He's very muscular and very clearly takes after his Alkidike mother in size.
3 Base Traits: Mindful, Candid, Easy going Personality:
It's always been in Yazeed's nature to care for those around him. A traveler's lifestyle affords no room for mistakes and sometimes the only thing you can rely on are those around you. With that being said he never wanted to be someone others couldn't depend upon, especially those closest to him, so he's worked hard to build a solid reputation for himself. He's a firm believer in meditative techniques to help center oneself and while that sometimes can make him appear lazy Yazeed is far from it. He just isn't in a rush to overexert himself.
As a result Yazeed is also rather blunt. He sees no kindness in lies, no matter how well intentioned they may be, and while sometimes his observations can come off in a humorous light others may find them cruel. To him the only way to grow is to become as honest with oneself as possible and sometimes that means acknowledging the uglier aspects of who you are. It isn't always pretty, rarely allows him to keep friends for long, but Yazeed is content.
History
Born into a polyamorous family, Yazeed was raised with his siblings in the village of Ast. His parents ,Nytarra and Jacek, met Velora while she was visiting Azehra in Chiume. By the time they encountered her the Geian pair were already a few years into their marriage, but the possibility of adding another had crossed their minds many times before. It was a practice that Nytarra’s family had already implemented, but they never expected that connection to be made with an Aishan! At first it was a simple friendship that bloomed between the three then love came shortly after. Although Velora found it odd at first eventually the connection became far too strong to break.
The three traveled across Belrea together, taking odd jobs when possible and generally enjoying one another’s company. Velora’s skill with her blades helped to ward off bandits while Nytarra’s bow covered their flanks and Jacek helped to keep gold flowing as a merchant of rare wares. All in all it just seemed to work, even if it was a little strange to others. Eventually enough time had passed that Velora decided it was time to go back and see her own family. At first she feared her lovers wouldn’t come with her, but they’d already made a pact; they were a unit, partners in this life and the next, so nothing would separate them.
They settled in Ast for a while, so that not only could Velora be closer to her culture, but so they could seek out Aisha’s blessing in having a child. Nytarra and Jacek had tried for years to have a child of their own with little success, but it was Velora’s idea to seek out Aisha. All three wouldn’t be able to go, but if Aisha saw fit then a family could be made.
The first to go was Nytarra and Velora. It felt odd leaving Jacek behind, but he was adamant. To him none of this would be possible without the two of them so who else would be better to show Aisha their worth? Weeks went by without word, but eventually a bloom came to be. A son; a little tanned bundle named Yazeed.
And three years later, Jacek went to Aisha’s side along with Velora and came back with another son. A little wonder named Cathán.
Yazeed adored being a big brother. As much as his parents worried that the spoiled boy wouldn’t take well to sharing the attention he seemed to fall into his role naturally. Even as the years went by he made sure to care for his brother by sharing snacks when money was tight or cuddling close when a nightmare woke him.
Once the boys were of a suitable age the family decided to start traveling again. Those years passed by as a blur to Yazeed, right up until the point when Nytarra became pregnant. He couldn’t understand his parents worry over losing this baby, but he did understand the need to settle again. They spent some time in Sauti while her pregnancy progressed, and finally, when Yazeed was ten years old a sister was born. He made a pact that day with Cathán to do everything in his power to keep her safe.
So he started to train more than ever before! At first his parents were just happy he was doing something besides hovering over the baby, but then it seemed to become something of an obsession. It clearly formed into something of a stress reliever for Yazeed as the years passed. Funds were tight? Train. Fight with his brother? Train. Get into an argument with kids in a local village? Train.
Eventually he grew into a rather bulky teen, but if anything Velora just saw that as a bonus. After all, it would make him a better warrior and that in itself was the biggest blessing from Aisha. He was large and healthy; what more could she ask for?

Prentice Solo
Yazeed settled himself atop a solid, fallen log with a cup of warm tea. While most of his family slept on in their respective tents his alkidike mother, Velora, remained awake. Ever since he was old enough he’d started taking on night watches, sometimes alone sometimes with company, and after a long day of travel he was glad to have someone at his side.
She took her own cup, but before truly settling in Velora reached out to wrap an arm around him for a quick side hug. “That was some quick thinking today. Without you the wagon would have been lost.”
Yazeed offered a small smile. “I don’t know about that. I just did what you all taught me to do.”
“That’s not true, Yazeed. We’ve shown you and your brother how to handle the cart in storms, but in that moment those decisions were all you.” The moment being a near wreck on a steep road amid a rainstorm. As of a few years ago the family had invested in a second wagon, if only to carry their belongings and give the growing teenagers some space. From time-to-time Yazeed was allowed to drive it, as was his brother, but it was poor luck that it happened during that storm. Their driving beast’s hooves slipped and without a few quick maneuvers it would have gone toppling over the hillside. “Say what you want, but it was impressive.”
While he wasn’t a prideful young man, Yazeed couldn’t help the warmth that spread in his heart. All he’d ever wanted was to make sure his family was safe and whole so in that moment they were all he thought of. If he went over…well, so be it, but his siblings were in that wagon. He would never put their lives in danger if he could help it.
“Is that why you can’t sleep? I noticed your hands were shaking earlier.” Velora’s voice lowered and she moved a hand out to cover his own.
“…It was a lot to take in.” Determined or not Yazeed had been terrified. It was hard to let those emotions out, though, as the oldest. He felt so much on his shoulders from being the ‘big brother’ his siblings needed and the son his parents wanted. It wasn’t as if they pressured him; if anything sometimes they had to weasel confessions out of Yazeed, but he just…didn’t want to share those sorts of things. “Cathán is better at handling these sorts of things than I am.” His brother would have been able to fuel this adrenaline into his training, but Yazeed wasn’t a fighter. He trained to keep his body strong, to help heft heavy boxes and keep his siblings in line when needed. If it came down to it then he could hold his own in battle and yet…
Yazeed really didn’t want to. He much preferred staying out of a direct fight and acting as support instead.
“Cathán.” Velora repeated the name with a breathless laugh. “That boy is going to be the death of us. Hiruna’s coming up right behind him too and as soon as she’s able to put up a fight they’re going to end up squabbling more.” Right now he had the size advantage over her, but Goddess Velora was right. Once Hiruna was able to hold something of heft Cat was going to get his butt whooped.
When Yazeed grew quiet, Velora added, “…You can’t protect them forever. There’s only so much big brothers can do before they go on with their lives.”
“I know I just worry. Cat’s so head strong that he’s going to do what he wants regardless of situation and Hiruna’s just as bad.” He’d always been able to support them from the side lines, but how much longer would that last? At what point would Yazeed lose his hold? Or had he already lost it? “You saw what he looked like when he came back yesterday. That’s just the start of it.” Cat had said something about an Elarian hybrid fighting with him, but Yazeed didn’t care. His brother looked awful.
She leaned against her son and sighed. “He looked bad, huh? That’s your mama’s fault. Nytarra doesn’t know when to quit and neither does he.” Even as she talked Velora’s voice was soft, as if the thought of seeing her son in that state bothered her just as much as it did Yazeed. “The only way to keep him truly safe would be to break his arms and his legs, but it wouldn’t make him happy. Sometimes you just must trust in them, Yazeed. It’s hard, but…it’s going to work out.”
When he turned to her Velora’s expression softened and the alkidike leaned forward to press her forehead against his. He knew how much she worried for them; about her earthling lovers, her hybrid children and her little earthling daughter. It was an everyday struggle that he was starting to relate to more and more. One day he hoped to find a semblance of peace within it all, but the more Yazeed grew the harder sleep came to him. Tea helped, it just couldn’t take away the unease settling inside of his soul.
One day something bad was going to happen that would split the family forever and he needed to decide where he would be when it happened. Would he be watching from the side lines or in the thick of it?

Class Choice - Master Blacksmith (Aishan)
Velora once again found her son deep in thought, but this time instead of tea in his hands the younger hybrid held one of his brother’s swords. Yazeed was softly running a whetstone up the length of the blade, working it around the blades he’d freshly sharpened. If one didn’t know better, they made have thought the blade new and not utterly abused daily by its reckless owner.
Sitting next to him Velora watched Yazeed’s process with curious eyes. “I always thought he would have chosen a spear. I wonder what changed?” She mused.
“It’s Cat, you can never be sure with him.” Yazeed grinned and sat the whetstone to the side. When he held the blade up toward the firelight its glow lit the blade up like magic. Even if his brother missed a few sessions of care with his blades so long as Yazeed was around to pick up the slack he’d be just fine. “I’ve thought about what you said and I think I’m going to be staying in Chibale for a while.”
“Oh yeah? What for?”
“I think as long as I’m with them then I’m going to smother them. I’ve never known a time when I didn’t hold their hands or make sure they had enough to eat. It won’t be any different once they’re taking odd jobs or fighting wars.” Yazeed slowly laid the blade down across his lap. “If I’m in Chibale then we can have a break, but I can always train. I’m not a fighter, not like you, not like Cat, but I want to help. So I’m going to find a mentor and learn how to make blades strong enough that only a goddess could break.”
It was the only way in his mind that he could always be with them no matter where his siblings were. Of course, if he trained with the Alkidike his contact with Hiruna would be limited, but it wouldn’t stop him from supplying her with anything she needed. He would leave to go to Belrea if he had to; no one, even the Sisters, would stop him from caring for his own blood. He just hoped that she would understand his absence. Cat would be hard enough to break the news too, but he was older. If anyone could understand wanting to make their mark then it would be him. Hiruna, though…she was still so young.
And his parents; all three of them. What was he going to say? Velora could see him whenever she wanted, but the others…Was this the right choice?
“I think that’s a great idea, Yazeed.” Jerking he turned to look over his shoulder. Nytarra had emerged from her tent with a sleepy-eyed Jacek behind her. When he turned back to Velora she shrugged.
“I wanted them to know and you always had a hard time telling us anything. Sorry for tricking you.”
“We’ll write, every day,” Jacek yawned, but that didn’t stop him from coming up to his son. It was comical, really, that the man who was twice his age was still so much smaller.
When they were close enough Yazeed’s parents wrapped their arms around him and hugged tight, just as they’d done since he was a boy. It was hard to believe, but he still remembered a time when it had been only him. Their love never left him, never ceased even when the others came and Yazeed knew he was blessed.
He would give his life for this. He wanted so badly to give back to a community that knew the value of family and through it he would serve his own. Goddess willing, Yazeed would do his best.
