Name: Morleas
Race: Fire x Water
Gender: Male
3 Base Traits:
Scholarly/Adventurous
Analytical/sharp witted
Loyal
Personality: Morleas makes the ideal best friend in a tight situation. Its when everything is chill again and he gets the chance to open his mouth and something quite blunt or sometimes pointed comes out at perhaps less than opportune times that you get the feeling that maybe the trouble was warranted the last time. Like his father he has yet to develop proper filters. He is driven by a sharp analytical mind and mixed with a yearning for trouble it can be quite interesting to be around him for more than a short while. Morleas inherited his Father's zest for life and his Mother's reverence for it. What he did not get was her patience. He can be quite rambunctious and actively seeks out roughhousing where he can get it. Despite his quirks Morleas is a very loyal friend and will defend those who wiggle their way into his inermost friendship circle to the death.

He likes to write letters with very fine penmenship, it had even earned him some attention in school and that was a rather competitive place. He is desperate to make a few good friends that he too can depend on. Life is a lonely journey and he had some obstacles still to climb. Matori secretly calls to the boy's heart and he will go one day.

Description: Dunno yet :p
Clothing: Dunno yet :p
Accessories: Dunno yet :p

History: Born to a reclusive Matorian healer and a wandering Oban male. His Mother had only been with the one man, and him only because his charisma was something else. So many had tried to woo her that she played down her good looks to avoid unnessessary and unwanted attention. Her healer practice was well known and she was too busy to deal with endless flirting. This busy career was also why when Morleas came along she gave the child to his Father who had wealthy extended family. Zorleas had welcomed his love child with zeal. He and his family were many in number and there would be many to care for the child the few times when he could not. When Morleas was placed in his Father's arms he did not know it would mean not meeting his mother until potentially much later. Zorleas could tell that the child was his, and the timeline matched up as well. He doubted Tanagua would have lain with another so immediately after him. He loved having Morleas along with him as they adventured around the house.
He had asked his family frequently about his mother, because he did not quite look like the rest of his family. His father had never hidden the truth, hoping that the boy would one day seek his Mother out. Tanagua needed love and Zorleas, who was a bit of a free spirit himself, was bound and determined he was going to retire with her one day, she just was not aware of this fact yet. Stubborn woman anyhow. Morleas grew up knowing that his mother had not wanted him, but did not lack for love from his father and his father's family. Morleas is gathering up the courage to go do just that. Find his Mother. He hasn't thought too much further beyond this act, feeling like one way or another at least he would have closure. He was dying to know what she looked like, his father always got such a dreamy look in his eyes when he spoke of her and Morleas wondered if some of his extra long trips might not have something to do with the woman who gave birth to him.

My Well Runneth Dry 317

Morleas groaned as he checked his inkwell. Irrifutably empty, there was nothing else for it, he would have to go out. Pity , he was in the perfect mood for writing, which undoubtedly would be messed up by the time he returned with his supplies.

He ground his teeth mildly, inconvinienced more than anything else. Alas, off he went to market.

The stall that usually sold ink was out. He would have to to the main shop. It would be more expensive but the ink was always top quality, dark as a moonless night and smooth writing. he sighed, more time wasted. He was now in a less that stellar mood. A bell tinkled over the door as Morleas entered the bookstore which was made of a beautiful dark grey wood. Immediately he drifted to the area that sold ink and paper and poked about, noticing which inks were in stock.

He took a medium sized bottle of regular ink. He brought his prize over to the counter and almost cried when the clerk told him the price. He haggled a bit and got a few coins off. Good enough for him. His purse much lighter, he took a slow stroll around the bookstore but found nothing new or quirky.

Just as he headed out, bell anouncing his departure, thunder rumbled ominously overhead and he made a point of walking back home as swiftly as possible. Rain would not ruin the ink, but he only liked being wet when he had wanted to be.

At least rain would et the flowers to bloom, maiing for nice walks around the wilder places around the city. He would press some flowers and send them in his letters or affix them in his journal. It would be a nice touch, now he just needed to make a few more pen pals. he arrived back at home and sat down to write.

He had been in Matori a while now, he had a climate it to the humid weather, and most everything was going well, so much so that he had nearly forgotten his reason for coming to Matori in the first place.
Then he saw her sunbathing on the beach not a care in the world, the woman who shared his face and who had given birth to him. The woman who had given him to his father and had never looked back the very woman who had never loved him. His heart jumped into his throat and made breathing and swallowing quite difficult. His mother, oblivious to the presence of her long abandoned son, rolled over blissfully to bake her back in the sun. Her blue hair blended to a rich green near the end and was pooled in pretty ringlets on her back. She was absolutely stunning as his father had always said. But to him she was nothing but an empty shell.
A baby had been an inconvenience in her life of doing nothing. He was glad to see that had not changed. He had been somewhat worried to come upon her with a new family, one she had wanted over him. His emotions roiled inside him like high tide during a hurricane. Foremost among them was rage and bitterness stemming from hundreds of hard lonely nights where he had wished that this woman had been there to tuck him in, read to him or do anything that mom was supposed to do.
Instead, she had returned to the beaches here in Matori to continue her life carefree, while his father and his family banded together to raise him. Something consolidated in his mind at that moment, he would become an author and deal with his pain in ink and words until his inkwell ran as empty as this woman's heart.
He looked very much like her in facial features, but he had his father's eyes, hair and crystals. He felt disgusted and mildly saddened that his looks might cause his meandering father pain. If he looked at his son and saw her. He shook himself from his reverie.
“You were standing in my sun”, his mother said, looking up at him. She had tilted her face up to see who the offender was. He froze upon hearing her voice for the first time, that disarmingly sweet belltone that made all the fine hairs on his arms rise.
“Correction, I am your son”, he turned and walked away from the abomination that had given birth to him. She was exactly as his father had described. “Wait!” she called after him, her tone a fair mix of shock and desperation. He kept walking fists clenched. She had known that he existed all this time and not once had she tried to find him. He stopped only when she grabbed his arm and refused to let go.
“At least talk to me for a moment,” he turned blazing eyes on her.
“You left me in Oba for my whole life. You have no right to talk to me.”
She lurched forward and enveloped her arms. He stood rigidly despite his better judgement, he was unable to move, unable to break the spell. For years he had wanted this contact had wanted to see her touch her, to know what having a mother was. So many nights had he cried and wished on stars so many nights had his poor father done his level best to substitute for this woman in between jobs. He had never appreciated his father more, he didn't pull away but he did not wrap his arms around her like he'd always wanted to as a child.
She finally released his embrace and looked searchingly up into his eyes. She reached her hand out to cup his cheek, and he moved his head back out of her reach. He was already taller than she, with her delicate frame.
“I wasn't good enough for you. I had no business raising a child when I could barely scrape enough together to feed myself.”
“You could have tried, you could have gotten a job, dad would have helped support you. She hadn't tried at all, she had foisted him off on his father like so much chattel. He couldn't erase the pain and bitterness of that rejection so easily. Dad did everything without you and what he couldn't do, my aunts stepped in and did. They loved me despite the fact that I stuck out like a sore thumb.”
“I'm sorry,” her fake eyes were leaking fake tears, Sunkissed orange eyes would get puffy, red and swollen if she kept up her crocodile tears. She was trying to pull on his heartstrings. It was mildly working. He just wanted to go. He never should have talked to her to begin with. But that had been the entire point of going to Matori. He wondered in the back of his mind if his father still had feelings for her.
“You are my mother and as such, I don't want to hurt you. But that's where your effect over me ends. You abandoned your child and my father.”
He had really thought that meeting her would have helped but no. He was angry, bitter and resentful. The author part of him was going to put it to good use though. Maybe he could find others who had similar rough starts to life. If he could mash all the stories and emotions together, it might help form the start of a decent novel. His emotions were definitely running higher than they usually did. almost to the exclusion of everything else. His mother seemed to finally be catching the drift that he was going to leave and there was nothing she could do about it.
“I'm sorry. I'm glad you turned out alright though.” She bowed her head and let go of his sleeve. “Your father did a good job.”
He flipped his braid over his shoulder and look pointedly at her hands still clutching his arm. She released him He nodded at her, figuring that she at least deserve that much acknowledgement for what little care she had given him. The gift of life was at least something, in his opinion. The fire of pain still raged in his heart but at least now he was able to put a face to a name. His father definitely deserved better and Morleas hoped that he got it someday. Maybe he would find a lady on his travels that would agree to come home with him or at the best travel with him. He was too good of a man to have been abandoned by the likes of this happy go lucky beach bum.
He returned to a small rented cabin unable to even touch his quill ink and paper for the moment. His circuits were fried and he needed time to deal with the most serious upheaval he had ever experienced. He was aware that he had acted more upon emotion than logic than he really liked. But at the time, the emotion had completely shoved logic aside. He was happy slightly, because at least he had cemented his career in writing and had completed his first quest. He made a soothing cup of tea with some Sleepy herbs. He was going to need a little help calm and because overactive mind tonight. But well things of this level took time and thought to process thankfully he had the time.
