Personality: Mio was able to pick up the skills needed for living in such a different environment than her old Yael home. She loves learning new skills and keeps an open mind for every new experience. Her explorative nature makes her a natural for foraging through the strange swamp lands as well. Still figuring herself out, insecurities in herself touch around her still youthful mind. She has been getting more confident, but she still tends to defer to others who might be more assertive in situations.

Starting History:
Miovadi was still quite young when her mother packed her up quietly in the night and took her from their home on Yael. She’d had no idea how her life was changing that night as they left behind all she knew.
Her mother, Nalini, had hit a mental roadblock after Mio was born, torn with the life her daughter was being raised into. Her own mother had taught her that Yael was meant to be freedom, but Nalini did not feel very free to be herself. Nalini ‘knew’ the Aishans were the best of the best, but she didn’t think that any race of Aishan was better than the other. Plus, for whatever reason, she had never caught onto the mindset that all the earthling races needed to be abolished. She’d rather just live and let live. When Nalini’s sister told her of a plan by others to leave for another land, Nalini grabbed up the opportunity for a fresh start with her daughter. The sister was determined to remain, so Nalini and Mio left with a few other Elarians seeking change as well. On the new island in Kahikina, Nalini felt her purpose renewed while she watched her daughter and the new tree grow, determined to protect both young lives.
Miovadi was glad to see her mother happy, and enjoyed her new life. Having been so young when they moved, her memories of Yael are faint and distant. She only truly knew Yael as a place to avoid, though her mother made sure they continued to praise Elzira’s love every morning. After all, Nalini had always been forthcoming with why she had chosen to leave and Mio had grown to agree. She felt no need to dominate the other races either. Besides, they both had a completely new race to give their attention to on a much more personal level.

Prentice - Journal entry 1 Are You My Family?
A few years had passed since Miovadi and her mother, Nalini, had moved to Isle Kiros. For all those years, it had been just Mio and Nalini learning and growing together in their new home. The youngling had adjusted surprisingly quickly to the new environment, and eventually found herself wishing for a little sister that they could share their life with. In her mind, that meant returning to Yael and Elzira.. but that was definitely not about to happen.
When young Mio found out that her mother had been chosen to raise one of the first blossoms of Esena as her own daughter, she had been thrilled. She would be getting the little sister that she had been wanting! Everyone on the island was excited about the new blooms, encouraging her in her role as a soon to be big sister and fluttering excitedly around her mother. It was the beginning of a new life! It had been such a risk to leave Yael, tempered by the fact that staying on Yael had felt like it would have been just as big a risk. The gamble of the founders of Kiros to leave Yael had revealed itself to be a most successful move.
Then Kasumi was born, and Mio felt the weight of change settling over her home. She had not really factored in the true enormity of these blossoms. The new blossoms did not give new Elarians. The babes born of Esena were different than herself. A new race that everyone was counting on for the future.
Mio watched her mother’s, and the clan’s, excitement over the infants that blossomed from Esena’s nurturing branches growing, and began to doubt in her own worth. More and more she was seeing that the focus was more about tending to the baby rather than how she could enjoy her own role as sister. She was beginning to feel like others saw her as a distraction from the baby rather than a part of the family. Perhaps that was not really the case, but the youngling saw that she was being treated differently, and felt that she needed to grow up so that she did not need as much attention. Anyone who came over was there to visit the baby, and she was left aside…
Was this new, strange looking little girl her replacement? Being the mother to such a precious gift was a great responsibility, and the baby had not even been directly prayed for. The surprise role took all of Nalini’s attention, and the adult was more than happy to provide it. What she did not know was that Nalini thought her little Mio was old enough to take care of herself, and assumed that she would not need the same attention that she had gotten as an only child; Mio, however, was suddenly missing the singular care that had once made her feel so important. She did not dare to ask her mother about it, either! She knew what her mother thought of their selfish sisters back on Yael. They only thought about themselves and gave little consideration for what others thought. Surely, Nalini would only think less of her if she were to expose how she was feeling.
Mio continued to do the chores that she had been tasked with even before the big news had been revealed, helped around the house, and assist her mother with the infant when asked, but she was reluctant to attach herself to the youngling that might be making her role as a daughter obsolete. The chubby and wiggling little cutie was fun to look at, but that was about it.
Still, she was unable find it in herself to feel any ill will toward her new sister. The young Elarian was just concerned for her place in the world, and in her mother’s life. She just could not help but to wonder… was there still enough room for the both of them in their mother’s heart?

Prentice – Class Affinity Solo Sacred Heart
Being surrounded by water naturally meant that many of the resources the Elarians and Elidae used were based out of the ocean and rivers. Isle Kiros was abundant with many materials that the sisterhood made full use of. Miovadi greatly enjoyed going out into the wetland wilderness to forage for these resources. It gave the teen time to herself. It gave her space to let her mind wander and forget about the usual teenage trials of life. Out there, she was someone other than just Miovadi, Nalini’s eldest daughter and Kasumi’s big sister. She could be Miovadi the explorer. Maybe Miovadi the loner. She could even be Miovadi the strong and brave!
She could be anything when she was out on her own, overflowing with confidence and independence! Reality tempered her imagination, but only a little. No matter how she saw herself that day, it was always taking on the form of something wonderful.
Mio had started out the day with a skip in her step. The sun had only just begun to cast its light to chase off the night sky when she set out on her adventure. She had a pack filled with enough supplies to last her the entire day, and a handful of sacs handing from her belt. Her mission today was to explore a cave that she had located on her last trip out. She had been unable to explore it properly when she had initially found it; her bags full and her pack running low. This time, she had the entire day set aside to see what bounties might lie within the shadows.
She stopped along the way at a couple patches where some hardy vegetables grew so that she could snack on something fresh during the trip, but she thought she still made good time when she finally got the cave in sight. With the rays of light gently turning the sky a softer blue, she lit her torch and marched inside excitedly.
The stone walls and the hard floor were worn smooth by the caress of a river that had once come this way, but had long ago chosen to take a different path. Moss and loose leaves from outside were the only cushion of the rough tunnel, her toes wiggling into the natural carpet. The walls and ceiling had lines of vines that either hung loose or clung to the rock, creating surprisingly intricate designs for the torch to highlight. The vines grew thinner and fewer as she headed deeper into the darkness, but the ground moss remained damp and thick.
It was so beautiful in there. Quiet and peaceful and undisturbed by the outside world… It made the sudden drop-off that her foot found all the more shocking in the otherwise relaxed situation.
Her eyes had been busy observing a little family of glowing worms clustered on a rocky shelf at eye level. Her feet had continued forward, and then the worms vanished from sight. Mio gasped sharply and threw her arms out wide on instinct, reaching back when her subconscious registered that her foot was dropping too far. One arm caught the floor, her fingers digging into the moss in a brief moment of relief. Another split second later, the moss broke free and she was screaming as she slid down the steep wall. She seemed to slide forever before the ground leveled out enough for her to skid to a stop.
She was gasping heavily, eyes wide and searching for any sign of where she was. It was darker than the night in there, and her torch had been extinguished with the fall. “Hello?” she called out, an adrenaline-filled tremble in her voice. The word echoed back hollow and lonely. There was nothing… She was afraid to move, lest she find herself falling even further. Yet, she could not just sit there!
Or.. had she gone blind?! The thought made her panic rise again. She was lost and aching and scared and possibly blind! “No, no, no, no, no!!” She reached out to grab at anything, and was shocked to see her hand illuminated by the briefest spark of light. ..Had she been seeing things? Panic continued to make her heart and mind race, and she reached out again to find something to grab onto. Again, a spark of light appeared near her outstretched hand, but this time is lasted a couple seconds; long enough for her to see her hand and wiggle her fingers. She wasn’t blind! Still, what was that light?
Whatever it was, it had been enough to sooth her frayed nerves just enough for regaining focus. Once she had control of her limbs again, she carefully started to run her hands out along the smooth stone and cushy moss. Her fingers traced over a thick fabric, and Mio practically cried with relief. At least one thing wasn’t lost! She used one of the snacks that she had collected along the way, using to motion of eating the crunchy food as a stabilizing comfort. While she ate, she held out her hand to the darkness and tried to see if the light would find her again.
Her breath caught when the creases of her hand so gently lit up. The light was back! And.. it was coming from her ring? Mio slowly moved her hand, and the light stayed in place, continuing to emanate from the metal circling her finger. Her ring was lighting up!
The relief of having the light was mixed with awe. Her ring had no magic that she knew of, but she had heard of such a spell.
Did that mean.. the magic was within her?
The glowing hand was brought closer, and she gently touched her necklace. Almost instantly, the light spread to fill the crystals.
She had magic! She could hardly believe it!
Now that she had enough light, she climbed to her feet and took a look around. The drop that she had fallen down was steep, but was not as smooth as she had thought. There was a scattering of stones and crevasses, and she could surely make her way back up!
It was dark by the time she got back outside, but she was smiling from ear to ear. Magic… That was special.

Prentice- Growth Quest Solo Blade
Mio had started a little journal for herself. She had gained friends over the years, but she often still found herself hesitant to express everything that had her concerned. After all, everyone had something to worry about. She did not need to add to the weight that everyone carried around on their own; particularly her mother. Raising Kasumi was a big responsibility, and their mother Nalini.. Nalini did not have time for her first daughter, surely.
So, into the little book her thoughts were written and drawn. It did not solve her problems, but putting her feelings into physical form was surprisingly cathartic. Simply, it felt good.
When she had discovered her magic, Mio had kept it to herself. She had wanted to wait to share the news until she had a decent grasp on the basics. Surely having that would impress her mother enough to gain some attention of her own! She just had to practice, and keep on practicing. Anyone she asked for advice had been carefully selected and was sworn to secrecy. She needed her mother to be proud of her…
She sat down to her journal one night as was shocked to see a strange ribbon sticking out of the pages. Horrified, she slammed the book to her desk and slapped open the pages. Someone had been in her journal! How much had they read?! Everything was in this book!
Opening the marked page, she felt her stomach tighten. A small note was written in her mother’s neat writing. Her mother! She bit her lip to the point of pain, eyes cautiously scanning the words, bracing herself for a reprimand.
‘My darling Miovadi,
Firstly, I am sorry for reading this book. I had simply been looking for something new to read and pass the time with, and I could not put it down when I saw what was here.
Most of all though, I am so sorry that you have felt the need to keep all of this to yourself. I love you with all of my heart. You were always such a capable and determined little thing, if not a bit shy, and I assumed you were doing well. I still should have made sure myself. I have been watching you grow and blossom into a wonderful young warrior, and I assure you that I could not have asked for anything beyond what you have already given me, and what you continue to give me. If I seem distant, know that it is because I am confident in your ability to run your own life and make the right choices. That does not mean I simply expect you to do everything on your own, of course. I am always here for you, no matter how busy our lives get.
Love, Mother’
It was much later that evening before Nalini got home. The older Elarian was exhausted from working that day, and dragged her feet in. However, Miovadi swooped in and hugged her mother tightly, and she could feel the warmth and strength return to her mother’s figure. “I have magic,” she said, an emotional laugh rising. She had been so silly this whole time. Her mother had never shown anger or shame toward her before. She was no longer a youngling, and she needed to face the world as such. She would always be able to count of her family, and they could count on her. With such love and acceptance, how could she not feel like taking on the world? “Do you have time for me to show you tonight?”

Conclusion: Mio started out her journey with being very uncertain of her place in the world of the Elidae, as a daughter and as a sister. Now, she is beginning to see that she does not need to worry about keeping up with anyone, and is starting to value her self-confidence more than before.
