Miovadi was feeling surprisingly emotional. Her mother had recently shared the tale of how the Alkidike mystic had met up with the Elarian mystic. There had been actual, peaceful discussion. The result? Peace! Her mother was thrilled. Mio found herself wracked with nerves. There was no plan to go to Yael any time soon, but the idea of going back was strangely terrifying.

She didn't remember too much about her life back on Yael, but it was enough of intimidating trainers and a concerned mother that her view was a little skewed. It hadn't been all bad, but there was a reason they had snuck away in the middle of the night. How could they be comfortable going back? Was there really any hope that the Yael Elarians would welcome anyone to return?

Besides, her life was here. What did this mean for their life on Kiros?

She had gone on a walk to clear her head, and ended up sitting at the edge of one of the smaller rivers that snaked through the island. Her eyes were damp while her fingers raked idly through the damp earth.

Shikoba was in shock at the most recent news. Peace? Really? The Elaria laughed at the thought before shaking her head, the movement making the many decorations in her dread chime softly. She had ran away from Yael, away from the hatred that her mother had tried shoving down her throat and now they were suddenly on decent terms with the rest of Tendaji? Or at least with the Aishans? Surely it was some sort of trap though Shikoba could delight in the ironies that they had been forced to rely on those that they hated to save their own future. Though she supposed her own future was here on this island with their new tree. They had already been blessed with some blooms after all and younglings of the new race ran about the island. It was a sure sign to Shikoba that meant the views of the Extremists had been skewed in the first place. The trees simply existed to produce life regardless of the feelings behind it and if earthling hybrids could come from both of the older trees it was a sign that earthlings weren't that awful in the first place.

Would I go back now that there's an opening? Shikoba pursed her lips at the thought and shook the question aside. Probably not, right? It was still tense and she knew that despite peace being agreed upon that other Sisters probably still held onto their previous views and habits. They simply were more reserved because of being forced to play nice once more with the rest of the world. "So stupid." Shikoba muttered before stumbling to a halt whenever she realized that she was not as along as she had believed. "Oh." Blinking in surprise, the Elaria studied the other Sister who was sitting along the shore. "Seems I'm not the only one who was thinkin' about things." She managed before coming near and plopping down onto the sandy ground without another word.

Miovadi gave a little jump when a voice revealed itself. She was sure she would have been alone out here! Well, there was nothing to be done... especially when the sister helped herself to the free space at her side. Giving her eyes a quick swipe, she exhaled and nodded. "Well, there's always something to be thinking about," she said with a soft chuckle.

With a little sigh, she pulled her legs up to rest her arms on, and then laid her chin on her arms. "I'm willing to bet that most of us are thinking about the same thing." She slid her gaze over to the other Elarian. "I'm Mio."

"Fair enough." Replied Shikoba with a chuckle. "At least one would hope, right? Some make me worry if they know how to use their brains at all." Of course her words were a bit harsh but it was a bitter reminder of how she felt about Yael and those she had left behind. Just the thought was enough to make her purse her lips into a frown before the other Sister's words confirmed her own thoughts. "Ah, yeah. You would win that bet for certain today, Mio." Shikoba nodded before stretching back so that her feet could stick out towards the water. "I'm Shikoba." Rolling her shoulders to release some tension, Shikoba found herself glancing up towards the sky thoughtfully. What did they even do about this mess? Would mess even be the right term for this whole treaty situation?

"You think they're sincere enough to keep to peace?" Shikoba found herself asking bluntly as she glanced towards the other Elaria. The girl was not one to beat around the bush and unlike others was willing to speak her mind directly. Hopefully such an attitude wouldn't scare off the other Elaria who was also pondering this whole situation between the Aishan cousins.

Mio had to laugh as well, though she heard the bite behind the words. There were certainly some that made her wonder about their thinking abilities. With the topic on hand, the question of the working of other's minds was extra potent.

Indeed, Mio was surprised by the forthright address of the situation. Rather than get worked up, she pursed her lips and sighed. "I wish I knew." The doubt lingered in her head despite the inconclusive answer. There was a reason so many came here. The ones that didn't leave.. They stayed on Yael and festered. She raised her head and looked out at the river again. "I like to think that peace can be worked toward, but a consistent peace from here on?" She let the question hang in the air. It all left an unsavory taste in her mouth. "What do you think?" She thought that she could guess this as well, but she didn't want to assume too much.

"Don't we all?" Quipped Shikoba lightly with a grin. "As for me? I would like to thing it's a feasible thing but I don't trust everyone that much. We left for a reason after all." She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders. "If the Chibale Alks are twisting their arms to make peace I hope that they can keep the pressure so that the Elaria and Alkidikes on Yael won't retaliate somehow." Shikoba brushed a stray dread from her face and let out a chuckle. "Would be a shame if peace somehow turned into war. I would like to think optimistically but there's still a lot of the older generation around. Do you really think they'll change that easily?" At least they had their island here with the new tree. Shikoba was happy enough here and honestly preferred the area to Yael. While there weren't as many pretty gemstones in this island there were at least plenty of fauna and warm waters to enjoy.

"Yes.. and I don't exactly see everyone scrambling to return, either." It was almost a relief to hear the doubt of Shikoba's words. While it would have been nice to hear someone confident in the Elarian's abilities to change, it also made her feel less alone with her own concerns. Would the extremists retaliate though? Was that a possibility? ..Did they hate peace so much?

"Traditions both good and bad get passed down through the generations and make any sort of change difficult." Her brow knit with consideration. "I wish they could be more understanding to our views. I wonder how such a split happened in the first place."

Shikoba chuckled. "You're not wrong there." She agreed with a firm nod. Honestly why would they? This new island was so much more peaceful and they didn't have to worry about Yaeli wandering nearby and had so many nice things here. The thought made her stare up towards the sky almost wistfully. "I think the ocean life and the forests here are much more agreeable to our kind especially considering that old island was originally intended as a prison." Had they forgotten that was the reason they had been born on Yael in the first place instead of Chibale? Their mothers had done horrible things to others and had been locked away....Shikoba was still amazed that the Chibale Alkidikes were willing to let them back into the rest of the world. The Elaria certainly deserved a chance but the old Extremists? Shikoba shook her head at the thought. "Yeah, no. I don't think I would let some of our mothers out of Yael or better yet I would find them a new rock all by itself in the ocean somewhere to isolate them from the poor earthlings on Yael." Their presence had only brought more terror to the Yaeli race in the beginning until the skittish race had learned to avoid the Extremist camp.

"Good question. Sometimes you cannot explain how others operate or think. If they had some issues with earthlings over territory years ago then perhaps I could see some anger brewing but....I honestly don't know how it could have developed into such atrocities that led to war." Shikoba gave a slight shrug as she tried to reason with those like her mother. Territory and pride was one thing but some of the stories she had heard were just terrifying. Had the earthlings truly deserved such treatment? The boy in Yael that she had encountered hadn't seem cruel at all. In fact, Shikoba had found him very pleasant to speak with. "Even better yet why did some of our actual Elaria sisters keep believing in their ways without at least trying to see what the others were like first? I behaved for the sake of a relationship with my mother but eventually even that was too much for me to continue." She admitted with a frown. "I came over alone because I refused to continue carrying the hatred that controls her." She wondered what her mother might have been like had she not allowed the hatred to devour the light in her spirit. "But maybe....just maybe some Sisters can change once they learn to let go of that hatred." Perhaps not her mother but surely there had to be some that could see how wrong their actions had been.

Mio pressed her lips together thoughtfully. It really was a much more pleasing environment here on Kiros. "Everything about this place represents freedom, while everything there.. is restriction and darkness." She sighed and shook her head. "My mother would like to go back to visit.. I have an aunt who remained there while we left, and I know they miss each other. I suppose I.. feel bad for having no desire to go, myself. I was born there, and I did love my aunt, but the thought of returning makes my stomach sour." Again, there was a relief in the words being out in the open. "I like to think you are right. At the least, given time, those with the deepest hatred in their hearts will move on and leave room for those more willing to understand and share their world."

Shikoba's gaze softened as Mio repeated her own thoughts. "That's true." She whispered quietly, her sharp tongue actually gone for that moment now that she leaked out the pent up feelings and thoughts that had been bothering her for a bit. Kiros was her breath of fresh air. It was the first place that she had ever truly felt freedom and Shikoba was terrified that somehow the other Elaria on Yael would try to destroy it. Even with peace she was still wary of many of the Sisters and the older generation. Could they truly change that easily? She doubted it. The other Elaria's optimistic words did give her a phantom of a smiel however, "Perhaps we can only be so lucky. I am sorry that your mother left behind a dear Sister but at least you two still have each other. Not that I'm upset to be on my own because I do enjoy this freedom." Still, wouldn't it have been nice to have at least one other person who knew her, truly knew her, on this island? Not that her own mother knew her though...the thought made Shikoba's smile slip away once more with a sigh. "As it is I'm supposing that they must mean some of the peace since there's been no news of any fighting. Perhaps you are right and that given time the hatred will fade away and the new generation will move towards something new."

She hadn't expected that talking about her concerns would help in this situation, but Mio realized she truly did find relief in having someone to bounce her thoughts around with. Perhaps the soothing conversation was a bit biased as they seemed to have similar views, but even that thought didn't detract from the weight lifting off of her chest. It was just so much better than feeling the angst in her heart while watching the delight on her mother's face.

Mio nodded lightly, an uncertain smile rising. "Actually, it's now the three of us. Mother was blessed with one of the first of Esena's blooms." Despite the years since then, she still felt reservations toward the new sister. What would the little one growing up mean for Mio?

That was a concern for a conversation that would never happen though.

Letting her smile warm, she reached over to gently pat Shikoba's hand. "We are all here for each other. If you.. ever feel alone, you can come find me." Did that sound conceited? She hoped not.. but without her mother, she wouldn't even be there, "Perhaps we should look at it this way; if a generation can change toward anger, then a generation can surely change to understanding as well, right?"

"Ah." Shikoba blinked with surprise before smiling herself. "Congratulations to your family then. I'm sure a little bloom is endearing even if they can sometimes be a handful." She thought about her own encounters with the Elidae younglings and her heart warmed. If anything at least she believed in the newer generation's ability to break away from the hatred that had tried to control her own. Even their own mystic had been tainted by it somewhat and the thought made Shikoba's gut twist. At least she had managed to find herself and to break away from the chains of their mothers' pasts. And I'm not alone. She studied the other girl, her spirits lifted a bit as she reminded herself that there were many Elaria who had left Yael to come to this new island. They were not alone and because of that she had hope for the future. The Elidae definitely would have far more happiness and freedom in their childhoods. Even Shikoba found it hard to not spoil them a bit herself.

The sudden touch surprised her even more but Shikoba couldn't resist the laughter that spilled from her lips. "Oh! I'm sorry!" She managed with a quick shake of her head. "It's not that I don't appreciate your words, Mio." She explained after a moment, "It's just I chose to be alone and even here I'm not near the encampment. Not as many tend to enjoy my blunt opinions and I like to keep to myself most days. Still, if I do find myself lonely at least I know I can find you now." She smiled warmly, "Thank you for that and for sharing your optimism about the future. I think you're right. At least we know that the Elidae will be raised with love and can only hope that those on Yael will start a new generation of Elaria that are free of their ancestors' hatred." Surely if there was a rebellion it would simply be squashed again by the other Aishans and this time they would make certain to isolate them from the rest of the world without being allowed to sneak away with a seed to grow into a new tree. Fool me once, but fool me twice...

Mio chuckled lightly and nodded in agreement. Kasumi could be a handful, but was an amazingly sweet little girl as well. Even then, she was quickly becoming not so little as the years passed. Mio herself had been fairly small when she had arrived to the island, and had enjoyed watching Esena grow with her.

The startled laughter made a soft laugh of her own rise. "There is no need to apologize. Your company is greatly appreciated." It gave her deep pleasure to hear that her offer was going to be taken up though. She understood the need for alone time, but having time with another was just as important when it was needed. She gave a pleased sigh and straightened her back to finally let her legs stretch out in a much more relaxed position. "We reach for hope in the darkest times.. it is important to continue hoping even during times of peace." She tipped her head back and sighed again, admiring the leaves shimmering above their heads. "Thank you for sharing your time with me, Shikoba."

"Look at you saying such wise words." Teased Shikoba lightly. "I didn't realize I was in the presence of a mystic." Her pale green gaze flickered towards the sky and she let out a soft sigh. Even if she was just teasing it was a shame that such words hadn't come from a certain someone before half of the Elaria fled Yael for a new tree. The past is the past and the future is something new. She reminded herself as she studied the clouds floating above. She just had to keep remembering that so that she could hold onto the hope that this peace was real and that the future would be brighter for everyone. "My time is priceless, you know. I'm glad that you appreciate it." She grinned playfully towards Mio before glancing back towards the sky again, content to simply enjoy the presence of another while relaxing along the water's edge.
