Personality: This easygoing young man wants to be friends with everyone. He is quite at ease in a group of people, and usually is not one to make a fuss with others. That being said, he does tend to speak plainly like his mother. He likes to adventure and have excitement in his life as well; especially now that the house restrictions have been lifted.

Kuno sat at the edge of the small town, panting sharply while gawking at his hands. It was a strange sight to behold… his knuckles red and raw from combat. While he had been in fights before, this fight in particular had escalated beyond what he had felt before. He still could not believe that he was not worse off than a handful of abrasions and bruises. One eye was going to sport a shiner later as well, the vision slowly blocking up with swelling, but that seemed to be the worst of it.
Still, he was better off than the other guys. Two windlings had gone to the local tavern with broken noses, busted ribs, at least one missing a couple teeth, and their tails between their legs. They were lucky that was all they got after messing with Bubs! He knew raptrix were occasionally hunting for their luxurious coats, but to think any of those poachers would try to lay a finger on his raptrix..! Well, the local poaching crew would likely hear about how Bubs was off limits.
He had been inside his tent, eyes only just fluttering open from sleep, when he heard Bubs’ disgruntled whining. He had rushed outside to find a pair of men putting restraints on Bubs. An attempt at a civil understanding had been attempted, but the men made their intentions clear, and a fight had ensued. It was unfortunate, but Kuno was no stranger to a bit of fist fighting.
It was when one of the men ordered the other to “solve the problem” by skinning the raptrix right there that caused the shift. A dead creature wasn’t worth fighting over anymore, right?
Rage was not a concept Kuno was very familiar with. He had gotten angry before, as everyone did at some point, but he was used to letting practically everything that might attempt to ruffle his feathers slip off his back. This was the first time he could think of where he was truly seeing red. The whole incident had become a blur after that point. A red, fiery, adrenaline filled blur. It wasn’t until a long and fat tongue slicked over his cheek that he realized the fight was even over. Bubs was whining with concern and fear, rather out of his element as well with what had just happened.
Kuno had always been confident that he could hold his own in a fight, but he had never actually thought himself as a fighter. Apparently, he still had some things to learn about himself.

Prentice- Growth Quest Solo Guard
When Kuno had first set out to get a job, he had been eager and ready to go. Sure, he was still working at the sanctuary and did enjoy it, but he there was no spending money in working for the family. He wanted to earn his own coin that wasn’t simply part of his normal chores. With his parents opening the doors to exploring again, and now that there were two more siblings to trip over, he wanted to be ready to head out on his own.
Besides, many of the adults were beginning to ask him what he wanted to do with his life. It turned out that “whatever I want and have fun,” was not an acceptable answer. Those who cared for him would look disappointed. Those who already looked down at him would only raise their noses higher up into the air. This way, he could show everyone in one fell swoop that there was no need to be worried. Kuno wasn’t one to aim for proving himself to others, but even he was reaching a point where he was getting a little concerned. Being a disappointment was certainly not something he wanted on his list of accomplishments.
So, prove he was capable and earn spending money in one move? Sign him up!
Yet, by the end of the week, Kuno sat at the tavern idly stirring a spoon around his bowl of warm soup. It had started out hot, but his vision got lost in the hypnotic swirl of veggies and cream.
“No luck yet?” a voice asked.
Kuno raised his head to see an iceling boy standing nearby with a look of concern. “Ya know, I thought this would be easier, but everythin’ they’re willin’ to let me do is so boooooring!” He groaned and dropped his spoon in order to slouch and cast a woeful look at his company. “It’s all packin’ bags or standin’ at a counter or washin’ floors and dishes. ..No offence.”
Dirk, who was a helper and dish cleaner at that very tavern, only smirked and shrugged.
Kuno continued with his tale. “If it ain’t boring, they keep sayin’ I’m too young or too inexperienced or the wrong ‘breed.’ Guess workin’ my butt off my whole life at home with the animals means nothin’ ‘round here. How’s a guy to get experience if they won’t give him any?” Kuno leaned forward again to push the spoon through the soup once more.
The lanky iceling shrugged. “Did you happen to try the stables? That work must be close enough to what you do out where you live that they would accept you.”
Kuno groaned loudly. “If I wanted to work at a farm, I’d stay home! I need more ‘n that, or I’m gonna wither away into a sad little pile o’ nothin’. Come on, Dirk. You gotta know someone willin’ to hire me for somethin’ better.”
Dirk shook his head. “You know how it is here. If you want excitement, you will have to go somewhere else. All we care about here is if the job is consistent and able to provide for the family.” He grinned wryly. “Is that not something you would like to impress that young lady you keep talking about?”
Cheeks heating up, Kuno waved his hand in front of his face dismissively. “Man, there’s pleeeeeenty of time for that later. Right now, I just need work.” Seeing a shadow suddenly at the end of his vision, Kuno’s head snapped to look. “What d’you want?”
A tall iceling with bright red eyes and a body as thick as a tree stood grinning. “Work is what you need? I can get you some work. We could use a strapping young man like you to help out on our trade routes. Consistent enough for impressing any lady, and I know it’d be exciting enough for you. Adventure, meet all sorts of people, plenty of coin to be had...” He leaned in a little closer and pointed to his own glowing eyes for emphasis. “Plus, there won’t be anyone worrying about your ‘breed’ being right or wrong.”
Kuno’s eyes were glowing with interest, his ears oblivious to Dirk’s concerns being murmured in the background. After a week of being offered trivial jobs or getting turned away, after a life of being stuck in one place and having to sneak around for any fun, he was finally in sight of some excitement!

Conclusion: Though still young and naïve, Kuno is reaching the age where he wants to come into his own and gain independence by taking on adult responsibilities of his choosing after spending his recent years sheltered and restricted.
