After being quarantined to Zena for his whole life so far.. After being stuck in one town with only stories from travelers passing through to satisfy his curiosity.. All all those years, he had finally dared to come to Sauti! All it took was a little fib that he was staying out with a friend for a couple days. His hide would be tanned to pieces thoroughly if he got caught, but it would be worth it!
At least, he hoped it would be worth it. The town he had come to just seemed to only be a dry and rocky version of Zena, complete with the basics of peddlers selling their wares, children running around with energy for hours, and adults congregating to mutter about the incompetent youth of the day. How dull. He wanted excitement on his first adventure out! It looked like he would have to make it himself. In unknown territory, he casually walked through the town to look for the perfect setup.

"Terys, if you pull on my dress one more time-" Mero growled, turning to look at a sticky little boy. He was as pudgy as he was short and no matter how many times she cleaned his face it was dirty moments later. She'd tried to tell him snacks should only be eaten after meals, but inevitably he'd always pull something out of his pockets and somehow it always ended up on her clothes.
"They're being mean. They said I can't play with them if I don't share."
"Well, then go on and share."
"....but I ate it all."
Taking a deep breath, Mero looked over at the children she was tasked with watching. They were all mostly older children, but each could be as vicious as the last. At first they weren't so keen on letting Terys back into the fold, but a few stern looks from Mero did the trick. And once they were finally settled with their parents she decided to go into town in search of washing powders. Her dress was an absolute wreck (to her, at least. In all honesty there were only small spots dotting the hemline, but one must strive for excellence).
With a basket on her arm, Mero navigated the crowd in search of just the right vendor.

After making a couple purchases, Kuno had started chatting it up with an elderly tea vendor. The old man looked exhausted, thin mouth opening into wide yawns during his tales. With a little coaxing, he managed to encourage the man to go lie down for a while while he watched over the stall. The man was quite grateful once he gave in, and shuffled off to close his eyes. Perfect. Most of the teas available were just containers of dry leaves, but there was a big pot of steaming water hanging over a fire with a few small cups ready with a sampler. All it took was a few few drops of ink in the pot, and he was ready to sell! He wasn't very interested in the merchant life, but this was an exception. "Fresh tea made to order or take home for later! Try it hot for a flavor to savor, or try it cold as ice, refreshingly nice!"

Mero was content enough to get her powders and go home. Still, she couldn't help overhearing the sales pitch from around the corner and a cup of hot tea did sound nice. It might be just the thing to relax her after such a long day. So, kicking up her step she walked around the corner...and just as quickly ducked back.
She didn't expect someone so young to be running the stall. Looking down at her dress, Mero did her best to brush off the dirt and fix her bodice. The teen ran her fingers over her hair, fixing the braids as best she could before finally admitting that this was as good as it was going to get. Still...She picked her posture up as ladylike as possible and turned the corner.
As she got closer she caught a good look at the vendor, and it made her all the more self-conscious. "What kind of tea do you have?"

The first couple customers had only wanted the dry leaves, which was rather disappointing. Still, at least the sales would please the stall's owner and possibly put a couple coins into his pocket as well should the old man be feeling generous after his nap. "Tea?" Seeing a very pretty and very interesting looking young lady approach the stall, Kuno almost forgot what he was doing there. Right! He pulled his smile right back up and waved his arm over the tins. "Hopefully, we have the kind that you like~ There's the basic straight teas, but also a few fun ones. Cullyweed, vanilla appelberry, lake lily, grand nut, mammu root... Looking for a particular flavor profile?"

Mero approached the stall, turning just enough so that her basket wouldn't stand in the way of her perusing the tea selection. Some of the flavors she hadn't seen before while others were her mother's old favorites. "Can I get some cullyweed and lake lilly leaves? And if you don't mind I'd like a cup of mammu root; I've never tried that one before."
Looking up at him, she smiled sweetly. It wasn't exactly in the budget, but really...a nice cup of warm tea prepared by a handsome face wasn't such a bad idea.

Aw man, just another order for leaves? The disappointment made it difficult to hide his sudden delight in hearing the additional order. "Absolutely! I'll get that set up first so that it can sit while I pack the leaves." Rolling the mammu root leaves into a small cloth, he took the cup to the fire to pour out the ink tinted water, the ink masked by the dark cups and the strong root color. His cheeks warmed when he saw that sweet smile though. Would be a shame to watch it turn black... He set the cup in front of the young lady and set about filling the rest of the order. "Anyone tell you yet how nice you look today?" he asked casually, unable to resist himself. ...He wasn't exactly known for being subtle, after all.

Mero lifted her face a little and smiled when she got a nice whiff of the tea. His comment caught her by surprise, but she was far from off guard. She'd expected it to a certain degree, and was pleased as punch to hear it. "You're the first." Still, she could pretend to be humble about it; vanity didn't suit women of worth.
She pushed her basket further up onto her arm, just so that it rested in the crook of her elbow and gladly took up her tea cup. "It smells wonderful." Blowing a little cooling air on the warm liquid, she waited all of a second before taking first a tiny sip and then a longer one. When she'd had a good solid drink she flashed him a little smile, completely unaware of the ink that now stained her teeth.

Kuno chuckled lightly. "Don't ya worry. I probably won't be the last, either." He spared a look over his shoulder to make sure the stall's owner was still safely away. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long though. Once enough cups got out, he was going to have to make a clean getaway! He looked up just in time to see the cup raise, allowing him to brace himself for what was to come. He had to cover his grin with his hand and pretended to cough, eyes lighting up with success and amusement. Oh, those teeth! There was even a tint on her lips! "I'm glad ya like it," he said, working hard to smother the laugh that wanted to rise up. "Want some of that in the dry for later, too?"

"It's a lot stouter than I thought it would be." Still, it didn't taste terrible; maybe it was something she could buy for the winter? Certainly would be something different to keep the chill at bay. "It has a strange aftertaste, though." Looking into the cup, Mero didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but then she really wouldn't given the color of the cup itself.
"Sure, I'll take some. How much do I owe you for all three?" Mero almost had the cup completely finished by the time she moved to set it on the stall's counter. She'd only meant to sit it there for a second while she dug around for her coins, but she missed the edge of the counter. Thankfully she caught it before the cup hit the ground, though some of the tea spilled on her dress leaving a....rather dark stain.
Furrowing her brows, Mero lifted the material up. "Is that...ink?"

"An aftertaste?" Kuno held his breath as the cup was inspected, but it seemed like he had set it up well enough! "Maybe it'll taste better with different water," he suggested, a little snort escaping his nose. A little ink apparently went a long way, making the young woman's lips look practically gray with the diluted color! He rattled off the proper number and started packing up the third tea, content with his first successful amusement of the day. "Careful!" he gasped out, belatedly jerking to reach for the cup as he watched it slip. 'Oh, cruel fates..' The mouth would come clean with a little gentle scrubbing, but the clothes... "Ink? Why would it be ink? I mighta made it too strong. Would explain the aftertaste, yeah? Sorry." He had to bite down on his lip now to keep from laughing. While he felt bad for the stain on the clothing, watching her stained lips and the peeks of darkened teeth was almost too much to bear anymore! Setting the final tin onto the counter, he took a step back for safety. "Enjoy," he managed to offer through the tension of repressed laughter in his chest.

Mero had always been quick to jump to conclusions, and seeing the dark stain on her otherwise pale dress made her turn her sharp eyes his way. If he really was worried then he wouldn't look like that; like...like he was just too happy about it all!
And if there had been ink in the water....Eyes widening, she turned away from the stall and nearly sprinted towards the closest rain barrel. No no no no no- Leaning over it, Mero took a look at her reflection with mounting horror. She cried out, but just as quickly covered her mouth out of embarrassment. What if someone saw her?! It was bad enough that she'd been talking like...like this, but if anyone else saw....
When she whipped back around her skin was flushed and her hackles were raised. The anger bubbled up strong and hot inside of her, to the point that the tea cup itself started rattling atop the stall before finally shattering.

Well, looked like the jig was up. Well, at least he had gotten someone. Finally, Kuno snorted sharply and started laughing out loud. "S-sorry.. 'bout.. dress!" he panted out, backing away from the stall while the young lady inspect her new look. Oh, that expression was priceless. "Come on, it's a little funny." He searched a moment before finding the source of the rattling, and his laughter faded quickly. The cup was moving on its own! Was.. she a magic user? "Hey, no biggie! It'll wash-" then the cup shattered. ...Crap. "I don't own this place don't be breakin' all his stuff!" he quickly blurted out as he turned to to bolt away from the furious lady, an amused grin still stubbornly on his lips. Time to get out of town!

Mero's skin warmed from her toes all the way to the tips of her ears. She gave in to a low irritated huff that sounded more like a growl than anything else. "How dare you! Stop laughing!" As time passed she was becoming more and more aware of the attention they were gathering which only made her anxiety raise. Mero clamped her hand tighter around her mouth, sending a pray to whatever goddess was listening to make it all just stop.
When the cup shattered Mero jumped, eyes widened once more, especially when the sound itself drew several curious onlookers closer. Had she...? Well, what if she had? She...she would have set him on fire if she could! Overwhelmed and at her limits the teenager took off.
