Name: Kitya
Stage: 3 -Sage (Wild Magic User)
Race: Yaeli
Gender: Female
Base Traits: Captivating, Whimsical, Selfish
Personality: I was born to entertain and to entrance you~

Kitya has always had a charisma about her, even as a child she was the one to rally the troops and to receive little trinkets and gifts from others. Even as she has grown older into a Prentice she has never given up that charm. She loves attention and she loves to practice ways to continue capturing the gazes of others. Dancing, in particular, is her favorite thing to do alongside taking care of any animals (keldari in particular) that her father has collected.

As such she is very whimsical because she does not know what regret is nor does she ever intend to never not go with her gut feeling. She is a very spontaneous spirit who is full of energy and does not mind messing around with others, especially if it's for a good laugh. It makes her rather selfish when it comes to others as she prefers to place herself first and when it comes to gaining something over another's feelings well....they'll just get over it, right?
Description: When her hair isn't tied back you can see it goes down in long waves to her lower back. She is petite like her mother and has a brilliant gaze that can portray almost any emotion within those silver orbs.

Outfit: Usually casual and loose wear - anything easy to move in and so the less clothing the better. Absolutely adores jewelry that makes chiming noises as well or have onyx and amethyst stones.
Accessories: Kitya usually always has some sort of scarf that she wears in her hair or around her waist. As a youngling she had a beloved stuffed keldari given to her by her father and now as a Prentice she sports an amethyst necklace with a golden keldari wrapped around the crystal. It was a gift from her father and she deeply cherishes it.
Favorites: Keldari, amethyst, onyx, jewelry, silks, anything to do with the night sky, most sweets and wines.
History: The elder daughter of Kieran and Taijana. All of her life she has only known love and has been a bit spoiled by her doting parents - something that she definitely will never complain about. Her later years were a bit dampened since her father would begin traveling again, but he was forgiven with the first round of gifts sent home from the Mainland. In fact it inspired her to consider going overseas one day unless something else in Yael should gain her attention down the road instead. That desire to travel was further fueled by her family visiting Oba when she was a child which was an experience she kept close to heart.

After the battle with the Dretch, Kitya has been very close to her family and is thankful that they did not suffer losses. The past five years has allowed her to grow into a young, energetic lady who kept her passion for dance. She takes deeply after her father in that she loves adventure and is not easily frightened. If anything she adores going behind her parents' backs (mostly her mother's as to save her the worry) to do dangerous tasks for the adrenaline rush. Her father has even allowed her to work with him in taking care of any dangerous beasts and while several stay around as familiars in the family others once tended to can go venture back off into the wilderness.

After a dispute with her sister who soon left home afterwards, Kitya found herself losing control of her emotions and as a result released pent up magic. Ever since finding out she was magically inclined the young woman started stressing more and more about her future until finally deciding that she would have to face this on her own and leave Yael. She's traveling around to try and learn more about magic so that she can grow both stronger physically and emotionally while keeping an eye out for her missing sibling. During that time she became invested in the Oban underground and works as a dancer at a popular establishment under the name Nagini. Even after seeing her sister finally Kitya has lingered in Oba, trying to figure out the next step while continuing her spy work.

Family:

❤ Xenia - Her younger sister who has taken up the blades and left home. After misunderstandings and a huge fight the pair finally reuinted in Oba. While they're both operating separately in the shadows at least Kitya knows she's alive and well.

❤ Taijana - Her beloved mother. Kitya was a wild child growing up but is now trying her best to avoid worrying her dear mother. She is especially protective of Taijana whenever Kieran is out and about traveling.

❤ Kieran- Her darling papa. She adores hearing his stories about his travels and always looks forward to his time at home. She has inherited his passion for adventures and will spend days in his study readying the journals that he and her grandmother have written over the years.

❤ Caolan & Alfina - the twins. Their birth definitely came as a surprise but Kitya is happy to have them join the family~ Now if I can get play time to become let's clean Kitya's room time... Now that they both are older, Kitya trusts them to take care of their mother and the house while she starts her own adventures.

🐍Youngling Solo🐍

The sunlight glimmered beautifully through the tall, twisting trees that decorated the yard behind Kitya’s family home. For the youngling it was like watching a flurry of spirits dancing through the silhouettes of fluttering emerald and ruby leaves. If her papa was here she was certain he could tell her some amusing fact or perhaps entertain her whimsical nature with a fable for her. Since he wasn’t by her side, however, Kitya had to do with spinning her own stories of how the leaves were reaching out for each other and how the shifting seasons were the only time that they could kiss the ground for which they longed. The child giggled at the thought before reaching out so that she could grab one of the loose leaves from the air, “A moment longer for you.” She teased lightly as she twisted the star shaped leave in her fingers.

It was pretty, almost too pretty to just let fall to the ground to be trampled, and Kitya studied the leaf lovingly in her tiny hands. Her papa had leaves and flowers stowed away in some of his journals, she remembered seeing one or two in the older of books that apparently her grandmother had written long ago, and so she wondered if she could ask him to let her leave a leaf in one of the books as well? This one would be great since it marked her first journey outside without anyone nearby.

Not that it was far since her papa had limited her to the forest behind their home, but it was still something. She wished she could share it with her little sister but Xenia was already napping for the afternoon and Kitya, even though a nap did secretly sound tempting, had declared that she was far too old for childish things. It was why she had asked if she could go for a walk instead while her papa tucked her sibling into bed. And it wasn’t like she was totally alone! A slithering noise caught her attention and Kitya smiled down at the indigo keldari that moved through the piles of leaves decorating the trail, “Aia!” She smiled as she crouched down so that she could let the keldari study her hands and flick its tongue against her palm to scent the child. While her mama may have been terrified of the creatures Kitya adored any keldari and loved to steal away with her papa’s familiar. Now if she could tame a keldari of her own one day that would be something!

For now though she had another keldari, albeit not as real as the true one currently slithering next to her, and it was Mr. Wiggles. Kitya grinned as she hugged the faded stuffed keldari against her chest. It had been one of her bestest presents from her papa! While she may have enjoyed hiding it in the house to scare her mother and sister on occasion Kitya honestly relied on Mr.Wiggles to get her through the night. He was her protector her stuffed friend who could chase off any monsters and dark shadows that seemed to linger at night. Because of him she had learned to deal with the darkness and when Xenia came around Mr.Wiggles was a veteran at protecting them both from any sleep time monsters.

He truly was the best!

Raising him above her head Kitya twisted in a circle playfully, “Look you can fly now!” The youngling giggled before hopping over a fallen branch. Oh! Maybe if she picked it up then she could be a strong warrior like her parents! Her mama had the crossbow and her papa did wonders with animals and used his whip if necessary so why couldn’t she have something to defend herself with? She picked up the twig, her fingers tightly grasping at the rough bark, and Kitya waved it in the air. This was her forest, her domain! The youngling grinned, “I dare any challenger to come forth!” She tilted her chin up proudly towards the sun, the autumn wind whipping locks of indigo hair about her face, A true majestic image if she could say so herself!

Tucking Mr. Wiggles into place around her shoulders the child continued her walk. Every so often she would swing her ‘sword’ at the falling leaves, challengers to her domain, and she would also prod the ground for any potential dangers. It was on one such occasion that when she poked at the ground it actually poked back!

Letting out a gasp of surprise Kitya bounced back, the momentum causing her little rump to land in the dirt, “He-hey!” She found herself saying as she pointed her twig towards the intruder, “What are you doin’ here?” Her silver gaze narrowed into hard orbs as she stared down into the pair of emerald green eyes. Eyes that had slits and looked rather grumpy if one were to ask the child.

“Hisssss.”

“No you don’t hiss at me, that’s not a good answer.” Protested Kitya though she was scooting backwards ever so quickly as the keldari emerged from its shelter of leaves, “First you come to invade my kingdom and then you don’t even introduce yourself? How rude!”

As the keldari hissed towards her a sound of more shifting leaves announced Aia as she whipped forward to block any potential attackers from the child. The Keldari was well trained and super protective of her master’s children, especially the one that often played with her and called her the prettiest scaley around, and no strange keldari was going to be allowed to get close.

Seeing Aia relaxed Kitya a bit and the child found herself inspecting the strange Keldari. She knew her papa had mentioned how they could come in all shapes and colors with varying patterns but she never had seen one like this before! He looked kinda like Aia but then there was that green stomach, almost the same color of that creeping ivy outside of their house, and he had splotches that resembled webs on on his scales. But then there was something crimson…”Wait a second.” Her lips pursed as she pushed off from the ground so that she could inch closer, “That’s not normal.”

He was injured! No wonder he seemed so grumpy! Didn’t anyone know that taking a bite from a keldari wasn’t a good idea? The youngling cringed as she imagined someone biting into her leg. Now that had to be painful! I should run and go get Papa. He would be able to take care of the Keldari and wrap him up super quickly! But...but what if the keldari hid again? There was no way that she could find him then! Kitya hesitated as those worries stopped her from running straight home. Surely there was something she could do…

Biting her bottom lip as she pondered her options the girl glanced down at the stick in her hand. Maybe she could shepard him home? Though he could get violent which was bad, her papa warned her about that too….sighing the girl shook her head. There was no reward without a little risk! So ever so slowly she crept around the keldari and held a hand on the satchel at her side, “Now I know this isn’t going to be a good time for you buuuut...I wanna help.”

She was glad that she had grabbed the satchel to collect fun things for Xenia, but it looked like she would have to apologize to her sister since this guy was going to take up the full space for his own passage home. Thankfully she had Aia near so that the other keldari could dart forward to stop any potential attacks and after long, fearful moments of prodding Kitya finally got the other keldari to slither into the satchel. Something that resulted from multiple hisses, scares, and from her rump getting a bruise from how much she had jumped backwards with every strike. Now though she had the satchel quickly tied and thanks to the long straps on the bag she could carefully, or at least as carefully as a youngling in the woods could be, drag it behind her so that she could have her papa look at the Keldari.

“Sorry!” She kept squeaking every time she heard a protest from the bag. At least he was getting help, right? He may not know it yet but she did! Her papa was the best and he could fix any problem! Kitya swallowed. She just hoped that he didn’t let Mama know about this else she would have to wait probably another century before getting to go outside on her own again! But as she glanced behind her towards the bag holding the Keldari the girl’s lips turned upwards into a satisfied grin. Even if her Mama did get angry at her it was totally worth it to save a life. Buuut it would probably be best to still beg for her Papa to keep this a bit of a secret between the two of them. Maybe like in ten years she could tell Mama….or maybe twenty...Kitya shook her head. Either way what was done was done and it was time to get this poor guy to her Papa for some healing!

🐍 Prentice Solo - Path of the Wild Magic 🐍

Kitya was so angry and bitter.

The betrayal of her sister, the fight that had separated them, burned like molten iron through her veins. Kitya had been irrationally angry as of late and perhaps her words had been a bit harsh, her actions wild and chaotic, but the pain she felt made it hard to control anything. She had always been the wildcard of her family, the girl who danced with keldari and sneaked away for her own adventures while laughing at superstitions, but she thought that at least she could trust Xenia to be there for her. Xenia was her safety net, the collected sister who she relied on for support and comfort whenever her emotions threatened to overcome her. She always thought that they would have each others’ backs. Which includes feeling comfortable enough to share secrets! Unshed tears burned at Kitya’s silver gaze, her vision blurring as she fought back the urge to cry. All she could do in the moment was leave the house and run far away so that no one could see the turmoil of emotions raging inside of her soul. Kitya did not want to worry anyone with what should be a simple spat between sisters. The unexpected pain and frustration it brought to Kitya had come as a surprise, the emotions finally coming to a boil when she accidentally broke a vase in the kitchen.

If they knew about the fight what would they have said anyways? Would she be to blame for being so nosey or would her sister be at fault for being so shady? Who even chose a stranger over their family like that? Was Kitya worth so little to her sister?

Thankfully her family had not come home during the fight so they did not realize that Xenia’s disappearance to her aunt’s place in the city was anything unusual. It had only been a couple of days since the fight but for Kitya each passing hour was like a ticking bomb. Every little thing made her upset and while she forced a smile and played with her younger siblings she found herself drifting further and further away. Until things had become too unbearable and she found herself leaving and wandering in the deeper forest away from her family’s home. The wild nature of the untamed forest had always called out to her and she had never once been afraid of it. Even when she had disappeared once in its depths, her youngling self found a day later with no real memory of the disappearance, the girl never felt fear. It just made her more curious about why she would have ventured so far inside. Perhaps the spirits had wanted to steal her away but she had been too much even for them to handle? She had been such a strange child in the eyes of strangers. Her Papa had babied her and sheltered her from their superstitions while teaching her about his own mother’s journals and his own unusual approach to a more factual and less fiction lifestyle.

Maybe she had been angry that day as well? Had something happened to make her nearly see red like this? Kitya gritted her teeth as she pushed forward further and further away from home. She did not plan on returning home tonight. Just like the rising full moon the chaos in her chest was too much. The emotions wanted to spill out so badly that it almost felt like her skin was crackling with static. It was when she was far enough away from home and in the middle of nowhere that she finally just lashed out, all the energy spilling out as she collapsed to the ground with a yell of frustration, “Why?” Kitya punched at the ground and strangely enough didn’t seem to feel any pain as a rock seemingly shattered at the impact. The Yaeli girl paused, her gaze widening as she realized it was more than just the one rock which had been shattered. It was almost like there was a ring of impact, the ground had shifted away from where she had punched and yet her hand was perfectly fine.

It was almost like….magic.

“Oh no.” Kitya scrambled backwards, her shock overriding her rage, and only stopped once her back connected with a tree. She did not know of anyone in her family with magic. They were hunters and explorers. Her Papa tamed familiars while her mother was an ace with a crossbow. Kitya had expected to take after one of them but this….this was unexpected. Magic was the last thing that anyone would ever expect from Kitya. In her earlier years she had always wanted to become a dancer or even a beast tamer like her Papa. She personally did not know of any mages and she found herself intimidated by the idea of it. If she had magic that meant she would need to find a mentor or some way to control it. Was it possible to control it? She had felt so angry just then that her whole mind had blanked while the energy escaped her. Would that ever change? Would she continue losing her temper and risk hurting someone as a result of the chaotic energy resting just beneath the surface? Had she done something similar before? Perhaps on a really bad day when she was younger and throwing a tantrum? It was probably over something silly back then as well but she had just been like a volcano waiting for anything to allow her to explode.

Just thinking about it almost made it feel real. Could it actually be a memory from her youngling years? Perhaps when she had ran off into the woods that day? Shaking, she pulled her legs up against her chest and wrapped her arms tightly about her knees, “I remember now.” She had thrown a tantrum that day. She had been so young and so volatile that afternoon that whenever one of her favorite toys had accidentally gotten tea spilled on it that she had blown up. She did not want her parents to see her being so angry and so she had simply ran into the woods behind their home. She ran and ran until her little legs gave out and she flung out all of her emotions into the forest. Kitya had spent so much energy that she had simply passed out in the little hollow underneath a tree. Her magic was wild, untamed and honestly it scared her so much that she had shoved the memory into the dark recess of her mind. But she was older now and the wild energy was rising up again. It was in her chaotic emotions, her mood swings a hint of the energy being held at bay. The thought made Kitya laugh, her laughter almost maniacal as she felt herself slipping in that moment. It seemed that she would have a change of plans for her future after all. Who knew? Then again if anyone in the family was to give anyone trouble it of course would be her. Why wouldn’t it be?

Like it or not it appeared that the spirits of Yael had marked her to become a sorcerer and the magic which flooded her veins was not tame at all. How fitting for the wildchild who was such a loose canon without someone to anchor her. Kitya chuckled some more before burying her head in her arms. It was hard to not break with everything changing so quickly around her. How would she even break this news to her family? Perhaps her Papa? Papa will know what to do. If anyone I can trust him to be patient and understanding. He always had an answer to everything and was nearly her opposite in how collected and calm he always seemed. He was in Matori but she could get to Matori. She knew how to book passage and go overseas. Surely she was old enough. If she could catch up to her Papa then everything would be okay. Kitya just had to keep telling herself that. It gave her some sort of hope that she could get her calm back and find control over her life again. She didn't need Xenia. Who wanted a sister who called her a psychotic witch? Oh but if only she knew how true that insult can be.. The thought made her heart ache, her fingers clutching into the grass as she held onto the ground for support.

She just had to focus on Papa. She could go on a journey overseas and just clear her mind. It would be okay. She would find a way to help her to control this. A change of plans was unexpected but she was adaptable. She could deal with this. As she continued forcing herself to repeat positive thoughts, Kitya took a deep breath. Still it did nothing to stop her tears from falling freely now as she tried to calm the raging feelings rising inside of her that she finally recognized as magic.

🐍 Growth Solo - Taking Action 🐍

There was a heaviness in her chest that would not go away. Ever since her sister’s disappearance and her own discovery of magic, Kitya had felt her emotions going through a rollercoaster of ups and downs. One moment she felt confident in herself and the next she was crying because she had broken yet another thing inside of the house and was missing her sister. Then once the tears dried from her cheeks she found herself flinging curses once more towards her sister and everything else that came to mind. It definitely was not a fun time for the young Yaeli but she didn’t know what else to do. She had said that she would leave to find her Papa on Matori but he was surely already overseas all the way to Kahikana and the thought of traveling that far alone intimidated her. What if she ended up spending years just following her father’s trail and never catching up in time? Or was she simply making excuses to not leave Yael? Kitya frowned at the thought as she clutched at her skirts. She had always imagined herself to be brave and had done many daunting things alone throughout Yael. So why was she so hesitant now? Was it just because the uncertainty of the future had finally caught up to her? Her magic had already come as a surprise, a complete curveball from the life she had always envisioned. I’m scared. The thought brought a laugh to her lips. Perhaps she had a bit of her mother’s spirit after all! Had her bravery always relied on having a family member nearby to save her in case of actual danger? Xenia had been her confidante, her Papa her lifejacket and her Mama her support whenever she felt down. The younglings had even started providing her comfort, her interactions with them constantly bringing a smile to her lips even when they started to grow into young teens. Leaving Yael meant leaving them behind and relying solely on herself. What if she didn’t track down her Papa and simply found a way to deal with the magic on her own? Such thoughts brought Kitya another sleepless night and she found herself wandering through the forest behind their family home. It was chilly, the cooler season bringing darker nights and eerie noises to the dark forest yet Kitya found herself strangely comforted by the night. It was peaceful in the darkness with the quiet atmosphere of the night calming the overbearing noises that continued constantly throughout the daytime. When Kitya got to a familiar clearing, she sat down on a larger rock and glanced up towards the sky. “I’m not religious like some of my family but if you are really listening Dafiel should I go? Will you remember me even if I stay gone for so long that memories of me fade from others?” As she spoke the clouds covering the sky seemingly parted and Kitya found herself bathed in moonlight. Was there even a hint of Lurin in the light of the moon? Either way Kitya was finding her resolve. She had to stop wasting time so that she could go out there and conquer any fear in her heart concerning her magic and her family. She knew that they could accept her no matter what but Kitya wanted to prove that she could handle things herself for once and even more importantly she wanted to go find Xenia to make certain that she was okay. It would take leaving the home that she had always known and force herself to finally take responsibility for her own actions but Kitya was determined to see things through to the end. She would become stronger and she would track down her sister so that one day they could both hopefully return home to Yael.

Stage 2 - Solo 1 - Reflections

Traveling through Tendaji started out interestingly enough. Originally Kitya had been desperate to seek out her father but as the young Yaeli continued sailing across the ocean the more time she had to think upon everything that had happened in the last few weeks. Her sister had left them, traveling somewhere with a murderous pirate who had gotten her name blacklisted in Yael, and Kitya had discovered her affinity for wild magic which was something scorned by many of the more superstitious Yaeli. A curse upon her family because of her father and grandmother’s strange ways of thinking that scorned the spirits and their gods. Dafiel and Lurin surely were angry for giving the eldest destructive powers that could ruin their family and now their second daughter was gone to travel those strange foreign lands? Their father’s influence was surely the root of the chaos strewn in their family. The neighbors could only hope that the youngest two had been spared from such rebellious ways. Kitya could only spit at the ocean in distaste as she thought about the elderly and how silly their views seemed to her. She could only hope that her mother did not feel the same way even though she was prone to superstitious beliefs as well. “Please not you too, Mama.” Whispered Kitya as she stared across the dancing waves, her indigo hair whipping about in the wind as their boat continued moving away from Yael and towards Matori. She had spoken with her family, explained that she was going to see the world and hopefully run into her father along the way while checking in on Xenia who was also exploring and learning about cartography. Kitya winced at the thought of lying so boldly but she could not stand the idea of anyone, especially their mother finding out anything about her sister’s true reasons for the sudden departure. Xenia was playing a dangerous game with her new lover and Kitya’s own emotional outbursts of magic were not any safer for the family.

As it was, the long voyage gave her room to think and to realize that she truly did rely upon others far too much. Even if she had appeared as the over protective sister who feared nothing the girl realized that she had used that persona to keep herself safe from everything that worried her. It was easier to fawn over her siblings, especially the youngest and to use her nervous energy to help them out instead of stressing over herself. If her Papa was home she was always tied to his side, reading over journals with him, sharing his love of bonding with animals especially the keldari and always listening to his tales of the mainland and adventures. She loved her mother and always helped her out about the house but it was always Kieran who made Kitya bolt towards the door, her arms reaching out to grab him in a hug ever since she was a youngling waiting for him to come back home. His stories, his love for life and finding out more about the unknown was what helped her to grow into the rebellious teen who fought against the norms of those around her that believed in so many silly superstitions that kept other Yaeli more behaved and less willing to dart into danger like Kitya did. In a way she was so attached to her family that Kitya almost felt like a burden herself. If she had behaved better would Xenia have run away like that? Did she push her away into the arms of that damn Matori? Would her father be disappointed in her if she appeared before him asking for help with magic and with her missing sibling? Kitya knew she could rely on her father to help out, he was calmer and good at dealing with almost anything in her opinion, but was it fair to him? Wasn’t this something that she should deal with on her own? It was her responsibility and no one else’s even if it was just tempting to go home and hide away from everything. Her father could not take care of everything for her forever, as depressing as that thought could be.

So she would deal with things on her own. Kitya sighed at the realization, fear knotting her stomach but then she had to remember that Xenia was also out there somewhere dealing with things on her own. Even if she had a lover Kitya had no faith that the woman could be trusted, not when she ripped Xenia from her home so easily and not after the stories she had gathered along the docks while looking for a voyage to the mainland. “I can do this and I will do this.” She promised the waves, glancing over the ocean once more before disappearing below deck to wait out the rest of the voyage with her two keldari who had tagged along for the journey.

Stage 2 - Solo 2 - Time Passes

It had been almost a year since she had left home. While Kitya still sent letters back to her family, detailing her travels or at least certain aspects of them, the young Yaeli had learned a lot more about wild magic. There was a mage in Matori, a woman living along the coast and serving as a local summoner who helped Kitya navigate through a lot of the wilder emotions. Astri had been her name and she had been willing to help Kitya, someone else to teach after her own apprentice had grown up and went out into the world to finally face his past. Kitya could remember the meeting almost like it was yesterday with how the Matori woman just appeared out of the morning mists while Kitya was roaming the beach and searching for the next destination for her journey. She had just arrived in Matori and enjoyed a not date-date with Pynar before leaving once more to seek out someone who knew more about magic, hoping that maybe a healer could help her out. Instead of a healer though she had encountered a nymph from the mists, a Matori woman with a slim frame who wore a short top covered in beads and colorful skirts and danced with the waves. Her curly hair went down towards her waist, the teal and green colors making Kitya think about deep pools of water and her warm amber gaze was always alight like a dancing flame.

“It seems nature’s magic has taken a liking to you as well.”

The words served as their introduction as Kitya spent almost half a year with the Matori learning all that she could about natural magic and how sometimes the chaos of wild magic could be helpful if properly tamed. It wasn’t completely elemental and more emotional at times which did make it trickier than Astri’s own magic which was tied mostly to the ocean and surrounding elements. “Emotions still can stir quite the reaction regardless of your strengths and weaknesses.” She mused during a few lessons while teaching Kitya how to calm the rising emotions, the magical energies constantly trying to spiral out of control every time Kitya felt overwhelmed.

It was nice living with Astri and Kitya would always remember their time spent together fondly. Not only did they share magic lessons but the woman had taught her some of the local styles of dancing which Kitya blended in with the few dances she had learned while sneaking about the darker alleys of the Yaeli cities as a teen. It was fun being able to run about Matori, the local village slowly accepting the appearance of the strange Yaeli girl who showed up with their local summoner. She could freely express herself and her magic which was nice and something that she had constantly fought to hide while living in Yael those last few months, the stress of hiding her magic and keeping her emotions from spiraling out of control nearly breaking Kitya after Xenia had left them.

Such bliss could only last so long as Kitya still had Xenia to find. Sailors who had docked at the village on their way to Oba expressed how the desert city had the less savory folk, a lot of seafaring individuals traveling up from Jatine to pursue more things within the capital city to the north. After explaining her concerns to Astri, Kitya found herself gifted with a traveler’s bag and some coins to help her make it towards Sulburi. Sulburi was a different beast, the great city nearly overwhelming Kitya at first but eventually she found her own rhythm within the place. Nathair was the one who found her at first when she was desperately looking for a place to stay, offering her a studio apartment in his building before learning about her abilities as a dancer. He also owned a tavern towards the center of the city that attracted all sorts of wandering souls and it was there that Kitya took on the name Nagini. The role had its perks and its dangers but Kitya was fairly adept at flirting and darting about those who wanted more than a simple drink after her performance. As long as she could gather information and keep an eye out for any other Yaeli woman traveling through with curly hair in glasses the risk was worth it and in a sense Kitya made a game out of things. How close could she get to risking herself and letting her magic go wild before backing away? There were a couple of close calls but thankfully the establishment had its own guards and a couple of burned hands kept most from trying to touch her without permission.

“If you wanted you could move into my own home, if the studio doesn’t feel safe enough.” The Oban had offered, his crimson gaze actually filled more with concern than lust like the other patrons who watched her dancing night after night as Nagini. Nathair wasn’t that much older than her, a young entrepreneur who had climbed his way to the top and for an Oban he was fairly handsome which was another perk. Kitya simply reached up, her fingers trailing across the cheek crystals she adored. “I’ll be fine, thank you.” She whispered before placing a light kiss across his lips like the flirt she was. Moving in with Nathair would simply be too distracting while Nagini wanted to focus on gathering information, earning coin in other ways than simply dancing throughout the night. Dancing was mostly for fun, gathering information was her actual business and it would hopefully one day lead her back to her sister who was also somewhere out in this mess of a world.

Growth to Stage 3

After all of this time she had finally found Xenia.

Now that she had found Xenia, Kitya was actually at a loss of what to do. Did she confirm that her sister was alive and simply return home? That would be the easiest answer especially now that Kitya had learned to control her magic. Before she had just been frightened and desperate when she ran away from Yael, but now she was finally feeling confident in her abilities. So why not just leave behind all of these dangerous waters and go back to the comfort of home? Xenia could handle herself now; this was the life that she chose, not Kitya. The Yaeli mage pursed her lips at the thought. It would be easy enough to leave Nathair since she wasn’t in debt to him, her performances had earned enough for her apartment and costs while living in the city thankfully. Her family was surely worried though she did send plenty of letters, going all the way to Jatine once a month to send packages from Oba to home now that she was living as both Nagini and Kitya. It was safer that way in case she ever ruffled the wrong feathers by gathering information for her clients while working at the tavern. The younger Kitya would have gladly left Oba to return to the comforts of home or better yet she would have chased after her father to try to drag her sister home with them. Now though Kitya had noticed a change within herself and within Xenia, the more drinks they shared the more she realized that they had both grown up to take on their own paths. They were still siblings and she had let go of the fury that she once felt at Xenia’s betrayal, her sister’s disappearance having affected them both in different ways. She had spent so much time and effort looking for Xenia that Kitya had almost missed the healing that traveling had given her spirit. She had managed to grow from the chaos that had nearly consumed her when she was younger and now was thriving within a dangerous city, her emotions fully under control. Such things showed whenever a rowdy patron bumped into her and tried to once again have his way with Nagini.

“Sir, I believe it would be best if you let go of my wrist.” Kitya warned, her voice steady and calm whereas a year ago she would have already set him and the surrounding area on fire with her raging emotions. Instead her steely gaze, her demanding aura had him take a step back as the lights around them flickered. “Thank you.” And then there were the guards taking him away as she turned around and started up the stairs to the more private rooms of the tavern. It was a spiraling place, with three stories for performances at the ground level with the second for spectators and the third for more private matters. The best room was always saved for Nathair and his clients or on days like this for Nagini whenever she was tired of dealing with the crowds.

“Another one?” Nathair was lounging about on the cushions, his gaze lingering on Kitya’s wrist where it burned with a red marking. “Do you need me to ban someone? I will do it.”

“It’s fine.” Kitya sank into the cushions next to Nathair. “I had it under control and he left.” She sighed as she took a glass of wine for herself. “I came here because of our other conversation.” She continued after taking a sip. “I’ve thought a lot about things and I think I’m going to stay.”

“Not leave.” Nathair blinked in surprise, confusion crossing his face. “I’m not disappointed at all but I thought you had found the one you were looking for?”

“I did, but I think I need to linger in Oba for a bit longer.” Kitya glanced towards him, a brow raised almost teasingly. “Are you disappointed? I can go work somewhere else.”

“Don’t you dare.” He replied with a smile, his hand moving to tuck a stray curl behind her ear. “I’m happy if you are.”

“Happiness is what you make it.” Replied Kitya as she reflected on her own sister’s words. She just hoped that Xenia was making the right decision for her own happiness as Kitya was. She would linger in Oba longer but it wasn’t simply to keep an eye out for her sibling, it was also for her own sake as she continued to find her own path in this world of shadows.

Kitya has grown a lot since leaving home, managing to overcome her chaotic emotions and control her magic much better, and she has made the decision to stay in Oba instead of returning back to Yael. This is a turning point in her life as she accepting that her path may not allow her to return home and is instead embracing the shadows, willingly playing the dangerous games of the inner city instead of running away.
