3 Base Traits:
Takes no crap - he is short on temper and not long on patience, so when something doesn't seem to go his way expect some volcanic activity.
Edgy - He will be often on the edge of violence, which gives his character a somewhat abrasive edge, he does not trust others easily. But once that trust is earned he will fight for them.
Defensive - He dislikes to see children or woman hurt and will jump to defend them, he is not fond of other males, and is more likely to fight them then not.

Personality: Theriar is usually quiet but is constantly holding a firey wrath in check, a lot of things annoy him and he really prefers to be alone thank you very much. However once you get past the extremely thick prickly hide that he presents to the world then you are the most protected thing ever. Once triggered he would hold nothing back, especially against males, alks are a grey area in that they are aggressive but at their core female. He would struggle with the concept of fighting them and basically base his actions off of what he picks up from their personality. He is very sensitive to such things, what body language says where words cannot. He is volatile and badass but not flamboyantly so. He doesn't try to hide it he would just rather not be out in public is all. Crowds unnerve him, and boistrous people are apt to drive him away. He would be dangerous if cornered and like a rabid animal if it came to a fight to escape with no one to protect. Those he wants to protect would be his biggest weakness.

Description: See references His crystals are numerous and clustered like a leopards which is what his basic concept was. Black hair, Yellow earthling eyes.

Clothing: See reference Minimal, nothing fancy, nothing to get entangled in.

Accessories: Just the necklace and the anklet.

History: Theriar is an ice alk hybrid raised in a place where it was not a great thing to be part alkidike. When the alks came though they took out his father who had broken a leg in the incident and couldn't continue to fight, thankfully they didn't kill him, which left his mother who had hidden unprotected from the ravages of the beasts. She carries radaku scars. Both of his parents were also Ice-alks who had settled in the wrong place at the wrong time to raise their son. They had kept mostly to themselves and lived outside of town with few friends due to their mostly solitary nature. There was no one to turn to when the violence was rained down upon Jauhar during the war with the alks. It was only after that one of their few friends, an alk by the name of Mezira came to check on them. The house was a ruin, his father had fought the invasion and lost, she patched him up as best as she could before looking for his mother who had taken him and hid in the forest to be attacked by radaku not much later. She managed to get them both up into the tree but was not without long lasting scars from the drama of the events. Theriar remained unscathed for the most part. Mezira found the pair there and extracted them from the trees and took them back to the house.

Relationships

Trelenwy - Theriar's first friend and a wonderful teacher. Both of them were a bit wary at first but they soon struck up an understanding and a gentle friendship based off of learning and mutual trust.

A New Beginning
- Solo #1 -

Theriar's serious eyes blinked into the morning sun as it shone through the dappling leaves to grace his young face. He inhaled, breathing in the sweet rot scent of the rainforest. Home. But home was starting to loose its luster and grandeur in the wake of the unknown, curiosity and the sense that perhaps there was something more out there. A place beyond the benevolent reach of the largest trees on tendaji. He was reluctant to leave their protection and guidance, they had been there for him from the beginning to what nearly had been his end, he had survived only due to their sheltering escape. Now to thinkbof leaving them, for some Chi forsaken plain, made his skin crawl a little.

But a small fire had kindled in his breast a sennight ago, he became restless with his familiar surroundings and craved the new. What rugged, beuatiful places awaited him out there, beyond the scope of the horizon. What couldn't he see? An awful lot to his reckoning, and in order to grow the way he wanted to, he would have to go.

He was not sure what he wanted to do with himself yet along the lines of a career. Nothing definite as of yet had jumped out at him but surely if he simply travelled around and experienced new things he would eventually happen upon a path that winding would lead him to what he was supposed to do with the gifts that had been given him.

Theriar rolled out of bed and set about doing his morning stretching, pulling tight recalcitrant muscles out of their sleep infused tight shapes and back into pliable means of motion. First one arm then the other, stretching and pulling until the waves of mild pleasure made him want to shiver with glee. Then his neck bent one side to the other, one hand applying gentle pressure, to then roll his head around, warming up cold muscles. He leaned back hands on his hips backbending his spine twice, then rolled forward about five times to work out any kinks gained from sleeping like a large slightly drooly seastar.

Onto the legs and the hamstring stretches, calf muscles, quads excetra. All performed high in the air of one of the beloved trees. Soon he was loose enough to consider a run.

He wrapped his arms around the broad chest of the tree and slid neatly down to the ground, a technique he had perfected at a relatively young age once his arms had grown long enough, somewhat to the disconsternation of his mother.

Get Your Fresh Sand Covered Fish Here!
-Theriar Affinity Solo-

Now that he had spent enough time by the ocean, he found himself not only relaxing but thoroughly enjoying himself. It was such a calm place where few people seemed to bug him. He was left to his own devices most of the time and thus allowed to grow somewhat into the person he wanted to be. A large portion of this success could be attributed to Trelly’s quiet, unobtrusive presence, in her he had found another quiet soul. Her’s was an invaluable friendship of a sort he hadn’t been blessed with before. She had shown him her oyster farm and he saw great potential in it, he wanted her to succeed but was sure she also did it for the enjoyment as well as what her multitude of critters could give her. It was all so very fascinating and he really enjoyed helping her, but he also knew that oyster farming wasn’t quite for him. But what else in Matori was there to do He wasn’t warlike like his mother’s or father’s peoples seemed to be for the most part, he didn’t want to tote a weapon around with him everywhere. He wasn’t interested in destruction, or artificial creation, or magic, he had no skill at healing whatsoever, all of this didn’t leave much choice left for the perplexed hybrid.

It meant finding a profession like Trelly’s but different so as not to compete with her. He had tried his hand at coconut collection which he had some talent for ue to his height. However it was tedious work and he quickly became bored with it. He was in Matori; the ocean province, therefore it only made sense that he turned to the sea for the answers he sought. He found himself fashioning a makeshift fishing rod, hunting for bait, and setting up a station for himself on shore to begin with. Soon he was ready to put his line in the water. He casted the line out a few times out and mungled it for the most part. After a while he managed to get the bait where he wanted and almost dropped the rod with shock.

He waited for the while; expectantly, muscles tense, but as time passed he slowly relaxed and melted to the sand itself. It seemed that this was a waiting game, and if it was one thing he was good at, it was waiting by himself. Soon he was flat out on the sand, staring at the sky, imagining clouds to be new sea creatures. Idly, he noticed a slight tug on the line, mostly because his feelers twitched, he waited. It tugged again a little harder and he raised his head just so his eyes were raised above the planes of his body. He watched the tip of the rod suspiciously with yellow eyes as it wiggled slowly back and forth. He huffed at it quietly. The movement stopped and he settled back down. Not long after he relaxed he almost lost the rod when whatever had been nibbling actually took the bait. He fumbled but managed to hang on even in his excitement, it was an absolute thrill, the crashing of the storm after the silence of waiting. It took him a while but he did remember to start winding the string around the rod after a while. Inch by careful inch he wound the fish in. There was nothing that compared to the sight of his first fish.

It was long with protective scaling down its sides and seemed to him at least rather big, for once he had done everything on his own with no help from anyone. But that being said it was not on shore yet. Being the practical sort now that he could see it, Theriar simply backed up and dragged the depth dwelling denizen up on to shore. There problem solved, fish caught, now what? Did he want to eat it? Was it one of the edible ones? Did they have venomous bites at all? How long did one cook it? Hmmm.

Meanwhile his fish flipped and flopped on shore covering itself with sand to the point where he tilted his head at it bemused. One would think a landed fish would wiggle back into the water but this one did not seem to have the presence of mind to do so. He poked it. It flipped around more, almost landing on his feet making him dance backwards. What a strange silvery creature this was. He looked around for some inspiration, saw a rock and tried to catch the fish to carry it over...unfortunately it was expelling slime from its skin at an atrocious rate. It didn’t LOOK slimy but it was! And slippery, so slippery it was hard to ...oops. He dropped it, nudged it with a foot, decided against picking the thing up again and brought the not so slimy rock over instead. There.
Once the fish had been dispatched he took out a filleting knife that he had bought and did what the vendor had told him to do. Cut the head off and toss the insides back into the ocean leaving the meat on its incredibly boney skeleton. Normal things did not have that many bones, he was sure. Why did it need so many anyway?

Then a thought struck him. He could do this. This was like what Trelly did, but more to his taste..he ..liked ..to ..fish!

All of his problems and worries melted away, that was until he had to find a way to carry said slimy fishy home. He settled for tying a piece of string around its tail and hanging it off his belt. There was no way that was going in his pouch darn it. He would never get the slime out.

He set off on his way to go and inform Trelenwy of his decision and seek out her advice on how to make his dream a reality.

Class Quest

Theriar stood at the shore, looking out over the waves as they danced in the sun that poured over the province of Matori. His feet dug deep into the fine sand as he though about his future here. He had decided to live in Matori and make a living here. He knew what he was going to do too, but he had to be sure he could make some sort of profit at it, so he dug up some more money from where he had hidden it upon arrival in Matori to pay for a boat rental.
He was less scared of the water now, which was fortunate as he could not always fish from the shore, which meant of course that he would have to go find a boat. He walked the shoreline until he found a dock with a multitude of boats. He found the elderly man in charge and paid him for the services of a small but sturdy looking boat.
Quite frankly the boat couldn't be sturdy enough for Theriar. He reached out a toe and rocked it experimentaly, well once he was sure the old man was not watching anyway. He watched the floating contraption suspiciously and procedded to tow it by its cord to shore, where he figured it would be easier to get in. He waded out, and leaped in, steadying himself after much rocking about in a most unsettling way. The boat lurched, his stomach lurched, in an unhappy synchronization.
Theriar sank down on his back facing the bright blue sky while the boat supported him. After a while he slowly ried to right himself in the small boat. Right now he was wishing it was a ship. Finally settled he peered over the edge and fiddled with the oars, pulling himself a bit further out once he figured out how to use the things.
Soon he was deeper then he had ever been before. He was sweating bullets but he remembered Trelenwy's calm attitude toward the ocean and found courage in the memory. He pulled the oars further and then pulled out his fishing gear and set to work. When he was all rigged out he thought of Trel again, dunking his hand into the cool water. The water was quiet and supportive just as she was., He could do this. He wanted to stay in Matori with her, his best friend and to do that he had to be brave and catch fish. So that is what he wold do.
He was out for hours, catching three larger fish of the same species as his first catch and two smaller yellow sided fish. He brought the baot back to the man and cleaned his fish before heading determinedly to the market.
He set up a stall and started the process of selling his fish. One he ended up trading for fruit, the others sold for cash. He was shocked that he sold them all, then again his prices were a bit low but they had to be, to his reckoning, with him just starting out and all. He didn't have much stock and he had a lot to learn about merchanting too. Still it made him feel good that he had so far succeeded in his new endeavor. He packed up and went to his "home", a k a his favorite palm tree. He would have to find a home too, as fun as living under a tree was, it was a bit too sandy for his liking and if it ever did storm he would be soggy and miserable out here.
It would storm eventually from what he had heard among the Matorians. The wind would come and rearange the landscape then the rain would follow. Everything would be drenched and it would be extremely uncomfortable outside, especially without the thick canopy of Jauhar for protection. He jiggled the coins that he had earned in his hand, mentally doing the calculations of where it should be used first. Some for another boat rental, some to save for his own boat, some for some rice to augment his diet of fish. What he had left over was not much at all. Sobering but at least he had a start. This line of work would take determination and patience but it could be done. He was worried, this was a big change for him, to strike off to a new land, to make himself a home there away from his family and all he had ever known. Of course he was afraid, the venture would fail.
Who wouldn't be? He was young and new to all of this. He didn't want to fail and have to leave with his tail between his legs to go home to his broken parents failure, unuseful. He sighed. He didn't wante his parents or Trelenwy to be ashamed of him. He was afraid of shame, he had seen it slowly eat his father after he had failed to protect his wife and son. It hurt Theriar to think about it. He had watched his father fall into a deep depression which he and his mother had though was about his leg. But it had been because of the memories, his mother had listened to him talk in his sleep one night. She didn't have much choice as he had beenscreaming for part of it. His family didn't blame him, but he did. Theriar wanted to avoid this and his own memories at all costs. He didn't want to face the past, he didn't want anyone to hurt, maybe his parents would remember less if it was just them out there at home, without him, whole in body to remind them of what they had had before and what had changed, what they had lost. He felt like he should hve been able to do more that fateful day so long ago, Realistically he knew that that he had been far too small to be of much help, more so a hindrance, something to protect. Being alone and sulking about it wasn't helping much though so he gritted his teeth and curled up in a ball. He was afraid, so afraid but he had come here to change his future, and change it he would. This was the time to father his courage to himself. He would be a find fisherman. For now though he would go to the place he felt safest, which was of course at Trelenwy's.
She was his comfort just as her oysters clung so tenaciously to the poles while they were battered by the waves of the ocean. He didn't think that Trel knew just how important to him she had become.
