"You should head back to base." A familiar woman's voice echoed through the fog and the static of the radio. "Roll call will be taken soon."
Quote:
If you follow the voice, you find yourself:
[ INSIDE- Broken down hospital wing, first floor. ] (EMOTION: PANIC) Something claws in your chest, and you feel the urge to run, to panic, to flee. It feels like something will pop out from the dark corridors almost immediately. Sometimes, you hear someone calling out to you, and it is a familiar voice. It always shouts help.

He'd broken into a run as he hit the hallway, and he was quick enough from years of soccer that it'd be hard to keep up with him, even injured, let alone stop him from racing towards the stairs and descending them two at a time. They had to get back, had to, or they wouldn't have anywhere to return to. Their faction wouldn't accept them anymore if they missed roll call, it wasn't personal, it was practical. He understood. They had to get back!
Never mind that back was through blocks and blocks of thick fog, and there was no way of knowing what direction the campus was even in. Never mind that the leads weren't themselfve anymore. That they had literally just faced what was left of Charlie, and he'd been trying to kill him. Never mind logic. Logic had left hours ago.
The message kept repeating, but now it sounded like he could hear it in the air as well as in the radio. Down he continued, following the sound, until he reached the first floor and rushed out into the corridor outside the stairwell.
And then he stopped in his tracks. Darkness was everywhere. Shadows crawling across the floor all around him, writhing, stretching. Liam gasped, a hand snapping up to clutch at his chest.
Help.
"I can't." He had to. He couldn't just leave her. "Corey!"

Fear cut to the bone, and he could barely breath, but he managed it, high and pitched as it might have been. "Corey!? Where are you?"
He couldn't move.
The shadows.

"Liam!" All things considered, Austin mostly just sounded angry -- until he stepped into the first floor hallway and something else ripped at his chest, a sudden panic overtaking him. Austin's breath caught and he frozen just two steps in, listening to the words rattle down toward him, the voice like Corey's but not quite. He blinked in the darkness, fumbling for the stupid little flashlight he'd pulled out of a bin back in the university --
He found it. It cast light approximately three inches in front of it, not a whole lot of help, but somehow it still calmed him enough that Austin was able to take a couple steps inward, hollow-sounding and echoing.
"Liam, get back here, or I swear to god..."

Austin's slim and a bit taller than average at 5'10' with sandy hair shorn short on the sides, longer and curly on the top. His eyes, behind a pair of thin wire thick plastic frames with the wrong prescription, are faded green and usually amused; his skin is fair, freckling in sun unless he's careful; his mouth is just a little too full, in a way that appeals to most people.
Harvard had heard the radio go off, and this horrid sense of responsibility nagged at him as Liam (the idiot) took off. The radio's crackling got louder and louder. He stepped up next to Austin.
"Austin, it's her again, I think." The one with many, many eyes and weird mouths that should not be where they were. "Liam! Come back!" He knew now that reasoning would most likely not work against the thing that was Corey and he pulled his knife out, scanning the shadows.

Justin got the encouraged or as he saw it, ushered in to follow behind in Liams and Austin's footsteps, He himself feeling the trepidation from all the messages on the radio for role call, to hurry and in the background was something faint. Was it Corey? he had to wonder, there was something to it, and edge to the voice that made him feel, odd. Following behind the group, he came into the room and held his shovel at arms length.
"We should stay in a better formation, stick together, you know?" he stated, lightly chiding Liam and his need to charge off. "role call or not, safetry in numbers."

"Im...I'm coming Corey!" He was shaking like a leaf as he headed into the darkness, muscles so tense they prickled. His back was one big throb at this point, but he didn't pay it any mind, too scared, too determined to find their leader. She needed him, he had to get to her. "Where are you?" He just needed to follow the sound of her voice.
And pray.
Pray nothing formed from the darkness to reach for him. The shadow...He had to stop, chest rising and falling frantically as she closed his eyes against the vision of giant blades slashing out from the creeping shadows.
"Just hold on." Almost, almost.
Austin's voice, yelling at him. It made him blink, half turning, but all he could see was a tiny light. "Austin, hurry, we've got to -" The voice made him pause, and he licked his lips, mind racing. The past crept up on him, not just years ago, but days ago. Liam took a step further into the dark, shaking his head. True. Not true. True. "It's not... That's not true... It's..." It wasn't. It wasn't. It wasn't.
It was.

"******** b***h-a** dentata," he muttered as she continued to feed into Liam's paranoia.
"I'm not lost, I'm right here, so why don't you come get me!" He was trying, of course, to draw the thing's attention from Liam. He doubted it would work, but it was worth a try. Even as he spoke, he continued moving forward, towards the voices, towards Liam. He checked that both Austin and Justin were with him. Good.

"He was out of his mind." Austin offered it back over his shoulder, as the other two came in his wake -- and at least Austin would stand out like a beacon in the dark, even his pitiful little flashlight marking him like a will'o'wisp floating its way down. The panic had driven Corey to a run, but for Austin, it slowed him to a crawl: needing to take one creeping step at a time, putting his feet near on top of each other.
At this rate, it might take him hours to find his way. He shuddered, in the dark.
"Maybe we should...should stay shoulder to shoulder." His voice didn't break. Definitely not. Not at all.
