_____Once bathed in the blood of generations, Eowyn’s sands burn dry and clean. They dance to the song of desert winds, not battle steel, and are imprinted only with the footprints of travellers and caravan wheels of wandering merchants, no longer platoons of tested soldiers. After years of an anxious ‘peace’, however, where the youngest generations know nothing of war but what has been taught to them within the secure walls of classrooms, a restlessness taints the lands of Magesc. Older souls speak of the glory days when skill in the field meant something. Politicians speak of the flaws in the current unspoken ‘treaty’, and youth turn their eyes to foreign lands, blindsided by unchallenged optimism at the promise of adventure, and glory.
Deep within the shadows of Obsidian City, the common folk trade whispers between them. Since the outbreak of Serenian constructs and Lady Aevah’s breach of the peace, Lord Verano has been suspiciously quiet. The local orphanages, however, house a dwindling number of occupants, the older children in particular seeming to ‘vanish’ on call to an undisclosed purpose. More soldiers guard the streets, their armor new, weaponsmiths and armorsmiths alike have been receiving orders in bulk from dark missives, and rumors of a growing army in the making are passed from from one ear to the next.
Residents of Soudul or those characters living there or present there will notice the following: _____● Increased number of oblivionite soldiers, both city guards in the capital, and scattered around more distant villages across the continent. Sometimes ______.there are even groups of troops travelling the main road in bulk, but they will not state their purpose other than “business for the Lord Verano.” _____● The orphanages have almost no children over the age of seven. (If you have an apprentice who is an orphan, whether or not they were living in an ______.orphanage, you may contact a staff member if you would like to have them drafted and get some insight into what that is like.) _____● Smuggling is being strongly cracked down on with multiple lynchings, and foreigners (non oblivionites of all races and combinations) find it much more ______.difficult to get into or out of Soudul. Once there, they are treated with suspicion. Orderites disappear without a trace.
Residents of Eowyn or those characters living there or present there will notice the following: _____● The northern shores of Eowyn (Taliuma in particular) will notice heavier traffic and standing population of oblivionite soldiers. If a character speaks to ______.an oblivionite or traveler from Soudul, they will hear rumors of Lord Verano building up his army in preparation for war. _____● Several oblivionite outposts deeper into Eowyn will also grow in size and number of waiting soldiers. _____● Word of the occasional skirmish between these soldiers and both stationed soldiers of other races and the odd traveler sometimes trickles out, but ______.none are fully confirmed.
Residents of Ayr/Aisko or those characters living there or present there will notice the following: _____● Not much different is occurring in either of these areas, though rumors may well have travelled this far, and characters located here could get the ______.sense that things are brewing elsewhere in the world.
Residents of Serenia or those characters living there or present there will notice the following: _____● Previously “radical” politicians in favor of launching a direct, ‘preemptive’ strike on the oblivionite race are now gaining favor and growing in number, ______.causing a stir particularly among the higher ranking families of orderite nobles and drawing a rift between opposing viewpoints, even between ______.previously “allied” and well known family names. _____● The lady Aevah Avi is politically silent, which only seems to fuel the debate, with some extremists going so far as to suggest she has turned their back ______.on them, while others predict she has her own plans in motion — they are simply not yet being made known to the public. _____● Construction of great mechanical towers that loom even above the height of the city walls are underway in four corners of the capital city, and though most do not know their ______.exact purpose, the general consensus is that these will facilitate some form of future advancement in transportation technology.

In order to encourage participation in the changing world of Magesc, all RPs that relate to this world event will net double RP req points to go towards growth. To receive this bonus, simply put reference to the world event [WE] in your title to alert staff that the marked solo or PRP involves plotline related to this development, and have said solo or PRP involve said content, and you will net the bonus. Prompt 1 - "Some things belong in the shadows..." After a long peace, turbulent times are upon Magesc once more, making the previously treacherous waters of nobility and family allegiances all the more precarious to navigate. Family secrets become dangerous weapons, and one false move could lead to even the most prestigious of young nobles being drafted alongside peasants, if the wrong person gets wind of it. Explore a situation where your character's family has a secret to keep, a secret exposed, or someone older and more experienced explains how crucial it is to calculate every action lest everything fall apart. Feel free to extrapolate on your character's opinion of this attitude, and whether or not they prefer this calculated existence to the life or death game of war.
Prompt 2 - "These people hold the mistaken belief that we are all equal." Pulling rank has always been an active dance among the upper class, but the stakes are inevitably raised when more is on the line. As times get rough, even nobles may be called upon to risk everything - their lives, their safety, their children - for the greater purpose of serving the goddess Soudana and the orders of Lord Verano. Explore a situation where your character witnesses or hears of someone from a powerful family line being drafted - or where your character or someone from your character's family is called to serve on Lord Verano's orders. What is your character's opinion of the diminished weight of family power and the limits to what money can buy when "desperate times call for desperate measures?"
CYO ---Don't like the prompts provided? No problem! You have a chance to write your own prompt. In the "which prompt" section of your form, just fill out what your prompt is, and then respond to it. Anything your heart desires as long as it isn't something that can happen outside of the world of Magesc. To do a CYO prompt, you must really understand the inner workings of Magesc. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something!

Prompt FS Username: SwordOfTheDarkOnes Which prompt: [[Prompt 1]] "Some things belong in the shadows..." Character's Name: Valerius Kardos Prompt Response: The child sat there his face blank and body impassive as he awaited his Father's word. He was the youngest son to the Kardos Family Head and his third wife. The first two showed weakness therefore they were quickly dispatched. Valerius knew this. He also knew his five elder siblings were from those wives. He sat back in his appointed chair, it was made for an adult so his small frame looked out of place in it. His feet dangled, kept still by his will, a foot at least from the floor. His chair much like his siblings were positioned around their Father's who sat a few feet above them. He glanced to his elder sister. She was the youngest born to the second wife and so far the only female born to their Father's line. It suited his Father fine, or so the child supposed. He wasn't too interested in the affairs of adults.
The child's head raised as their Father walked in, his Mother on one arm seemed paler than normal. Odd. Valerius felt his head tilt just slightly to the side. Not noticing the gaze of his eldest flickering towards him before the youth crossed his legs. Valerius looked up as his Father walked to his chair. His current wife standing at its side before the male turned. Valerius watched as his Father walked back down and stood at his overly large chair. The elder male's hair was dreadlocked around his tall frame. His third eye a bright eerie red, red trimmed wings flickered at his sides as the wickedly barbed tail curled around his waist. Valerius never once doubted his Father, never once feared the male. Though, right now...he felt fear. Something was wrong in the way his Father looked down at him. Something was wrong in the way his Mother was silently shaking. His Father reached down and picked up the child.
Turning he walked back to his higher chair. Passing the eldest Valerius saw the youth didn't look at them but his jaw was set. Something was wrong here. His Father sat in his chair, settling the child on one thigh as he nodded. "Let him in. Those in this room are those this matter pertains to."
The male who walked in, none of the children knew. He didn't look noble in the slightest and was led in shackles. Their Father let out a slow breath. "Children. This is a criminal who is going to serve our Lord soon. Your Mother is going with him."
The female next to him let out a small cry. "Beloved! What are you---?"
"I know." his Father said flatly. The criminal smirked as the female stifled her next words. "I know what happened 11 years ago. I'm aware of what you did. Valerius is my son in name only."
When the last words were uttered Valerius felt his world shatter. He felt his Father pull him a touch closer as his eldest sibling stood. Without a word the male looked back, shadows rearing up to pull the female from their Father's side. Throwing her to the ground below them. The male spoke then. "Shall we assume, Mother died like all the rest Father?"
"Yes. See them both out." the male intoned as some of his most trusted servants walked out from the shadows and guided the now sobbing female and the still smirking male out. Valerius felt...wrong. Then a touch to his head had the child flinching. His Father held him as the next words out of the male had the child oddly relaxed. "Your. Mine."
[[IDK I wanted it to be more drama but muses went this way *shrugs* Big family secert, Valerius is the son of a criminal and not his dad....should have fun if this gets out to the rest of the family 8D]]

Prompt FS Username: Viva Viola Which prompt: Prompt 2 - "These people hold the mistaken belief that we are all equal." Character's Name: Verenirus (Ilderic) Labolanie Prompt Response: “Wait no! What are you doing?! Bring me back my child! He’s too young for this and you know it!” The woman fell out onto the street, the tears she shed staining her once proud face as she lowered her head in shame. “I am ROYALTY! I am a NOBLE! Does this mean NOTHING to you?! Have I not paid my dues already by giving you my oldest?! Must you take my baby as well?! Please!!!!” The pleas of the noble woman fell on deaf ears as her child was taken down the street, crying and begging for his mother. He was her last one, her baby, and there was nothing she could do to save him. She remained in the street then, uncaring of what anyone thought or did to her. Life was meaningless without the one thing to keep her sane. Both her children had been taken by the goddess and her so called avatar, Lord Verano.
She would curse her “goddess” till the day she died.
Verenirus looked on coolly as the woman was finally carried back inside by her husband, a soothing hand at her back. He didn’t understand, the woman seemed like she was pretty young if anything so she could always have more brats to fill the now empty nest that was her home. Perhaps his view on things were a bit callous, but such was the way of things here in Sodul now. It was just how his popop told him it would be…
”Remember Verenirus, as the eighth son of the fourth Verenirus before you, must you learn that in time, only the cowards survive what’s to come. The strong may prevail, the weak may fall prey to strong and cowards alike, but it is the cowards that will find their way no matter what or who they have to use to get there. Remember this and you will go farther than your brothers ever did.”
He took his popop’s words to heart, and in order to save his skin as well as the dignity of his long standing family, he sold out the woman that lived across from them, telling the soldiers that not only would they pay triple the amount needed to keep him out of the draft; they would find a child more suitable for their drafting needs.
Verenirus had a “respiratory sickness” after all that was incurable.
And so the seven year old child went and his mother was left heart broken. Verenirus did what he had to do in order to survive. He was a coward, a cheat, and a liar, but above all, he was cold and callus towards those that he did not deem his own. Yes war was upon them and yes perhaps the right thing to do would’ve been to surrender and go willingly into the draft. But he was selfish as well. Why should he have to sacrifice himself for the greater good? He was the eighth son of the third Verenirus of the powerful Laboline line and he would not be denied his birthright passed down to him from the carefully planned elimination of his elder brothers by his mother. He WOULD become the fourth Verenirus and do his line proud.
Desperate times did indeed call for desperate measures, such as him sacrificing that poor innocent child. Verenirus snorted, looking down at the spot the woman had been in with a cold distain. If he really wanted to be cruel, he would’ve told the soldiers about the boy’s twin sister that was hidden under the floor boards. Nonono THAT he would save for another day. In fact, he might have plans for her that would require the careful manipulation of her parents.
Verenirus smiled, sending his calculating vibes to all he witnessed him. Yes, this desperation would suit his needs perfectly; He had to thank his goddess for the gift of her madness and sheer hatred for oderites and all that they stood for, it was really helping his campaign out quite nicely. By the time this…Fit she was having ceased, he would have taken his rightful place with a suitable bride at his side as well as the added security of merging two powerful families together.
Beautiful really.
His plan finally in motion, the young oblivionite walked away from his window to rest in his bed.
The silence was comforting. Hopefully he wouldn’t have to hear the shrill voice of his mother anytime soon. For now, he would rest and go over his plans once more till he was sure they were flawless.
Cowards really were the superior. How funny.
[[inspiration was the sound of silence cover by Disturbed. Its a really beautiful song~ 8> Also! This means that Ven has plans! Glorious wonderful plans to cement his place in his family as well as the world. [[His mother isnt well liked and he is often called the "b*****d son" because of HOW many people suspect he became heir.]]

Prompt FS Username: Sesshiyasha Which prompt: Prompt 1 Character's Name: Roarke S. Kirentorin Prompt Response: Roarke wandered the streets. He knew his father wouldn't approve, but he didn't much care. He had dropped his last name long ago when he found out the man he called father had merely purchased him for his mother. She had cared about him, she had loved him, and in the end his "Father" had killed her. Not directly of course, but because he enjoyed things.
He came upon a small group of nobles. after a few moments he realized they were talking secrets. He smirked at this. 'Did you hear? .... His daughter is adopted she isn't blood!' said one, the other responded with 'Oh really... and he thinks to cast stones....' it was interesting listening to the people who held similar station to his own. He had learned from a young age that this world of "Nobility" really just meant a world of cutthroat dealings to remain on top. This war was nothing more then a culling to him. He would never be drafted. He would collect secrets in order to remain where he was. It was easier for him to keep to the shadows and listen to all the secrets of those around him. It was then that he heard his father's name on the lips of these nobles. He glared a bit. He refused to let them use his secret. 'Kirentorin's son was bought when his wife couldn't have children!' the other laughed 'Yeah and look at what happened to her!' He glared more at the mention of his mother. How dare they talk about things they did not know or live. He slid back down the alleyway to tell his Father to prepare for the worst.
He smirked remembering one of the nobles there. If they choose to use the information about him, then he might just choose to let it slip that he saw that same noble exiting such a fine business that they run in the shadows. He was sure he could find that lady of the evening as well. He knew he was manipulative. He was accustomed to the shadows. There was nothing Money could not buy that a thief could not take. Still smirking to himself he walked through the doors of his home. He greeted the maid simply and walked up the stairs to his father's study.
He watched his father a moment, leaning against the door frame to the study. "I come baring news..." He said uninterested in his father. "If you care to hear it..." He watched as his father jumped slightly. It was ever so slightly, which made him smirk. He knew his father would never be fully accustomed to his walking in the shadows. He had learned to be silent which was a good trait for him.
"What is it..." his father exclaimed. "Out with it! I don't have all day!"
Still uninterested he merely responded with "It seems some of the other lords have figured out that you bought me... and that you may have killed my mother..." He was still uninterested, and his tone showed his boredom. He guessed that he had learned that from his father. He shrugged. "Not that it involves me... I don't really have to worry about it..." He said as he turned to leave. It was his father's high and mighty tone that made him stop.
"It doesn't involve you? HA! Don't make me laugh!" Was the harsh reply. "You are nothing! You will never be anything! I have made you what you are today!" His father was laughing now. "If they choose to draft anyone from this house It will be you!! I will gladly give you over to them!"
He glared back at his father. "We shall see father... Or... I could just use the information I have collected to save myself!" It was a sudden outburst of temper and he immediately regretted it. His father wouldn't let this one die. His father would never let something go that he thought could be of use to him. It was why his mother had died. She was no longer useful. He turned before his father could say another word and walked out. He knew this would enrage his father but he didn't care. He herd the yelling and the threats come from the study and follow him down the long hallways of the empty manor. He was alone again and that was all that mattered. He would live on his own forever! After all, it was only ever himself that he could count on. He needed to gather more information in order to save himself, but just how could he do it? How could he gather enough to put them down before they came for him? He would need to think about this more...
((He will find out after he goes to collect more information that his father was having secret dealings with the underworld and was really one of the supporters and higher ups in the underworld. Roarke will attempt to take everything his father built from him and make it his own. He wants to crush his father in revenge for his mother. He will never step fully down from his status as a noble since he sees it as a useful weapon himself.))
