Personality:
Kolari is a kind and gentle individual, a trait that she has inherited from her father. She always treats those around her with respect and warmness, even if they may not be kind towards her. The prentice is especially considerate around younglings, the elderly, and the animals of Tendaji. Don't expect Kolari to raise her voice or get angry at people. It takes a lot to get her upset, and when she is, it usually fades not long after. She finds it difficult to stay mad at people for very long, and why would she want to, anyway? The Leaf girl has a soft-spoken and warm manner makes her approachable and easy to talk to, should another individual be in need of such services.
Like the majority of her people, Kolari is a very spiritual individual. It was instilled in her from a young age to have reverence and respect for not only the beliefs of their kind, but also for the world around them as well. Her mother developed this belief in her, as Iyala felt it was important to feel grounded to their beliefs. The young woman makes she to pray at least two times, daily, as well as before every meal that she eats. Kolari also beliefs strongly in sticking to a predominately vegetarian diet due to her reverence of nature. However, it should be noted that she will eat meat, should there be no viable vegetarian option available to her. Her vegetarianism was instilled in her by both her parents, as they are practicing vegetarians as well. Importing their food from outside of Tale was the main luxury the family allowed themselves, given how scarce their own lands were. Her spirituality isn't just geared toward her own. Kolari is fond of learning about the belief systems of other people, as she feels it helps her learn why people belief or think what they do. She is also not pushy with her beliefs toward others and fully expects others to respect that and act similarly. She won't push her beliefs on them; they won't push theirs on her, and that way they can all get along more easily.
Unfortunately for her, Kolari is a bit of a frail individual. Her body cannot take large amounts of strenuous activity before it wears her out. Not only does it tire her, but it leaves her unable to breathe properly, much like those who experience asthma. After incidents like this, the young girl will have to rest for an extended period of time in order to recuperate. It is also due to this that the prentice has to be careful about what activities or chores that she does. She tends to stick to less physical work or chores, and as a result, the young woman is not physically strong. Yet her frailty isn't just in regard to her body: Kolari is also easily frightened, predominately of violence. She will not fight unless it is to defend herself or if it is the only available option open to her. Fighting makes her afraid and anxious, and coupled with her frail body, this often leaves her at a disadvantage when going against another opponent. Fighting is not the answer in Kolari's mind, and she'd much prefer to talk things through, rather than resort to violence.
History:
Kolari's mother, Iyala, had lived in Vers for generations. Like her father and grandfather before her, the Leaf woman worked and trained Kinfa to trade with the other regions of Tendaji. It was through her work with the creatures her family loved so much, that the woman would eventually meet her husband, Negan, Kolari's father. Negan made his living studying not only Kinfa, but all the animals that called the that they lived in their home. He was a gentle, caring man, and not long after meeting Iyala, the two fell in love and got married.
Kolari was born on a spring afternoon, and from the moment she came into the world, her parents knew she would be an easy-going baby. She never made much of a fuss growing up, and was an amicable and polite child. Iyala considered herself lucky in this regard, given that her work training Kinfa could be difficult enough. Both Iyala and Negan provided their daughter with a loving home and a healthy, caring relationship. She would spend time with her parents equally: some days she'd watch her mother work with the Kinfa, other days she would go out with her father to study the other animals in their home region.
With the war coming to Tendaji, Kolari's parents ended up making quite a surprise decision not too long ago. Given that the settlement of Neued had fallen in the war, both Iyala and Negan decided that the family would move elsewhere. Despite Vers being a good distance away from Neued, Kolari's family thought it best to play it safe, and to move as far from Oba as possible. They have since relocated to Isd, which Negan in particular finds quite a nice change of pace. This puts him closer to Sauti, so he can study the animals of that region more easily. Iyala, although further from her beloved Kinfa, found the new living arrangement a necessary decision. She did not want to put Kolari or her husband in jeopardy by being so close to Oba.
Kolari, herself, is now getting used to her new life in Isd. She is eager to explore the area, and maybe even venture into Sauti to see what the people there have to offer. The young girl is also making plans to start going off on her own to start her own life, a decision that her parents knew she would come to eventually. She is old enough to travel now, and they want her to find the path in life that is right for her. The path with the most interest to her thus far is spiritual magic and the path of the Shaman. Kolari was introduced to such an idea, again, by her parents. They would turn to shamans for advice or spiritual guidance when unsure or in need of assistance, as they were trusted community advisors. The young prentice would often accompany her parents to visit the shamans, and thus saw them work their magic or do their job up close. Seeing what good they could do the community and others is what really drew Kolari to path of spiritual magic. They are in tune with nature, just how she was raised to be, and she hopes to be a part of that one day, too.
