A Note from Mri
Apprentices must roll between 70-100 to win!

Kolari loses!

Tensions seemed to be high lately in the town of Yera. Kolari could feel it. It wasn’t just in the spirits of the people, but a tense feeling lingered in the air as well. It was unsettling, to say the least, though the young Leaf earthling had done her best to push the feeling aside. She was visiting Yera to relax and to visit a more bustling settlement, not to feel worried and weighed down upon by the feelings of everyone else. What was going on, anyway? She had heard rumblings from some of the locals about the Alkidike, but they had been only that: rumblings, nothing further.

Yera was in a precarious situation, or so it seemed to Kolari. They were close to the borders of Jauhar, contested land that the Alkidike no longer seemed to want to share. The Shifters had called that land their home for as long as they could remember, but so, too, did the Alkidike. The hospitality of the warrior women was dwindling now, and because of that there had been increased animosity. They no longer wanted the Shifters on their lands, and settlements along the Jauhar border were beginning to feel these hostilities as well. Yera was no exception to this.

”The Alkidike deserve to live in Jauhar unbothered,” came a voice from the marketplace. It didn’t take long before such a statement was met with obvious disapproval. ”Jauhar is home to the Shifters, just as much as it is the Alkidike. If the warriors kick the Shifters out, then they would be without a home!” A group of individuals was gathered in the marketplace, and Kolari couldn’t help but find herself lingering on the edges of the group. Both individuals made very good points, but the prentice seemed to find herself siding with the Shifter supporters. Things would not go well if the Alkidike attacked and left them without a home. They deserved a place to live as much as anyone else.

”The Shifters deserve to stay in Jauhar,” Kolari chimed in, with all eyes suddenly turning toward her. ”They are doing their best to be as careful and out of the way as they possibly can. They’ve always been cautious to give the Alkidike their space, after all…” Yet her comments did not seem to be going over well. The Alkidike supporters glowered at her, and while the Shifter supporters gave their approval, it didn’t help much.

What followed was sheer chaos. What had began as a simple debate between two groups now came to blows, and Kolari found herself staring, eyes wide, in disbelief. It was the Alkidike supporters who attacked first, moving to try and subdue the Shifter sympathizers.

No, no, no, no! This was not how things should be going. Fighting was not productive at all if they wanted anything to come out of this discussion. Only peaceful tactics would be useful. Fighting would just bring about more pain and suffering, and she knew that was the last thing either side wanted.

Yet she couldn’t stay and try to stop the fighting. She would only end up injured like the rest of them. So, before any damage could be dealt to her, Kolari turn and she ran as far away from the marketplace as she could. She was not a fighter; she had never been a fighter. Trouble was brewing; she could feel it, and she was scared for what would happen when people reached their breaking point.
