 . . .
Name: Yuri
Origin: Russian, Ukranian Pronunciation: YOO - ree Meaning: Variant transcription of YURIY, the Russian and Ukrainian form of GEORGE. Means 'farmer' or 'earth worker'. Nicknames: None
Guardian: Yves Mathieu Lecuyer Gender: Male Sexuality: ??? Age: 2 years Date of Birth: January 1, 2016 - Capricorn (♑) Rune: Year Alignment: True Neutral
Fel Essence: Living Bone Soul: Gray Wolf Posting Color: ▊▊▊▊ ( 9e9470 )

Shy and reserved to start, Yuri opens up to others quickly and loves to make friends. He always treats strangers with an initial apprehension and carefulness - particularly because he's still quite young and a lot of things do frighten him despite his brave front - but he is eager to get close to people and will usually give anyone a chance. Even when he's comfortable with a person, Yuri still retains a sort of awkwardness to his personality that is hard for him to shake.
Yuri is quite naive, being young, and doesn't understand the dangers of the world very well. Because of that, he tends to get himself into trouble, from little things that are harmless to something much more serious, such as nearly drowning because he didn't know how to swim and underestimated the depth of the water. Still coming into his powers, he's foolhardy and is the type to learn the 'hard way'. Every now and then, a strange feeling in his rune will tug at him and cause him to re-think a decision that could have been bad, or even downright disastrous, but the inkling of natural intuition his fel essence provided him is slow at developing thus far.
Down to his core, Yuri is faithful to his friends and family and would do anything and everything for them. He loves to keep active, and Yves struggles to find enough activities for the busy frei to do each and every day. When he's feeling extra restless with nowhere to go and nothing to do, Yuri will get anxious and try to find something fun to do. He gets bored quickly when he's by himself, so exercise and entertainment are crucial to his mental and emotional well-being.
Likes: Stuffed animals and other interesting toys, Yves, exploring (particularly outside), occult/horror, spooky things in general (skeletons, spiders, zombies, etc), colder weather, animals, being around others.
Dislikes: Being alone, going too long without some sort of mental/physical activity, strangers in his home, being cooped up inside for too long, bullies, lemons (Yves recorded him for the lemon video).
Hobbies:
Sustenance:
Yuri sustains himself by sucking the life out of bones. He cannot consume the bone, itself, and while fresh bones offer the most sustenance he can also suck the marrow out of long-dead bones if fresh bones are not in supply. Yuri will drain the essence of life left in a bone, leaving it hollow, brittle, and dry. The only way he is able to feed off of bones is by physically touching either the bone itself or the creature said bones inhabit, and it must be actively engaged to do so; thankfully, this means no passerby will become drained bags of dust if he happens to get hungry nearby them.
While he could, arguably, use this skill to harm others (circumstances allowing), he doesn't and most likely wouldn't unless it was in self defense. Even then, he would go out of his way to avoid needing to do so at all costs, preferring traditional take-down methods and using his strength and endurance to get him by. In short, no, he won't be using his bone-draining power on any living creature anytime soon.
A secondary (and more convenient) option of feeding is absorbing calcium from more commonly obtained sources, such as milk, cheese, or even rocks if he's desperate.

[ Passive / Active ] Bone Regeneration: Yuri can not only heal his own bones at an accelerated rate, but he can also heal the bones of others, although the latter requires more concentration as it is always an active power. When healing his own bones, it is a steady and passive effort unless he presses more actively for it. When healing himself or others, the amount of energy needed depends on how quickly he wishes to heal and how severe the fracture is.
The length of healing time depends on the severity and number of bones broken/fractured, as more energy is needed to be distributed throughout. A notable downfall to this ability is the possibility of bones healing incorrectly if not given proper attention beforehand. In this case, re-breaking is necessary.
[ Passive ] Heightened Senses: Due to his wolf soul, Yuri is capable of experiencing things such as sight and sound at a higher magnitude. He is adept at tracking and pursuing, and his eyesight and hearing is better than the average person's. Yuri is naturally very sensitive to those around him in many ways, and he uses subtle cues that he picks up from others to gauge situations before acting. The raevan's primary way of identifying others, in fact, is by their distinct scent.
[ Active ] Bone Manipulation: Experienced as rapid bone growth, Yuri is able to do varied things with bones as his medium - most often he will use scattered skeletal remains to create new creatures, not unlike taxidermy but with just bones. By focusing his energy on the bones, he can cause them to grow in new ways or mold together as needed.
In combat, Yuri is also able to use his own bones in an offensive and defensive manner, although his young age and lack of experience limit what he is capable of. With great effort, Yuri can accelerate his own bone growth and cause the bone mass within his hands, for example, to expand and break through his skin, creating a set of bone claws for fighting or enhanced, sharper knuckles to punch with. The process is painful and not something he resorts to often, generally used only when absolutely needed. When the bone enhancements are no longer needed, Yuri will deteriorate them, but must be careful not to harm his own actual skeleton in the process.
As the frei grows and matures, he will be able to harness his own skeleton to create a sort of skeletal armor with which to protect himself further.
[ Passive ] Intuition: Intuition can be strong or weak in anyone, but for Yuri, it seems to be more reliable than most. The saying that one can "feel it in their bones" is quite literal, in his case. The feeling comes and goes, and he has no control over his sense of something happening; all he knows is that a strange feeling will tug at his mind, his very essence, although he will lack any other explanation for it. It isn't always reliable (it's only natural to sometimes misinterpret feelings), but Yuri is slowly learning to trust his intuition.
Traits:
Wolf Ears: Yuri's ears are soft, furry, and often serve as a telltale indicator of how the frei is feeling and how intently he is listening.
Hands: Somewhere around his wrists, Yuri's skin tone changes to a darker shade of brown; atop that, his hands are patterned with a white skeletal print. Although they may be mistaken for gloves at a glance, this is in fact Yuri's natural skin coloration.
Wings: Protruding from Yuri's back are two skeletal wings that are devoid of any sort of flesh, feather, or fur. They do not help him fly at all, but he is able to break off pieces, if needed, in order to create something in a flash (a small knife, etc), although the process is very painful and he would rather not.

 . . . LIVING BONE
Bone is living tissue... when it is attached to a functioning, sustaining body. However, this piece of bone, which is presumed to be from some sort of animal, exhibits signs of life outside of the influence of a working body. Rather than drying out and becoming hollow and dusty, this bone supports itself by unknown means - if broken, it will eventually correct itself, the pieces mending back together. It does not seem to grow, but something is keeping this piece of bone alive, and it's... creepy.. . . . . . GRAY WOLF BASICS
The gray wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the timber wolf, true wolf or western wolf is a canid native to the wilderness and remote areas of North America, Eurasia, and North Africa. It is the largest extant member of its family, with males averaging 43–45 kg (95–99 lb), and females 36–38.5 kg (79–85 lb). Like the red wolf, it is distinguished from other Canis species by its larger size and less pointed features, particularly on the ears and muzzle. Its winter fur is long and bushy, and predominantly a mottled gray in color, although nearly pure white, red, or brown to black also occur.
The gray wolf is the most specialised member of the genus Canis, as demonstrated by its morphological adaptations to hunting large prey, its more gregarious nature, and its highly advanced expressive behavior. It is nonetheless closely related enough to smaller Canis species, such as the eastern wolf, coyote and golden jackal to produce fertile hybrids. It is the only species of Canis to have a range encompassing both the Old and New Worlds, and originated in Eurasia during the Pleistocene, colonizing North America on at least three separate occasions during the Rancholabrean. It is a social animal, travelling in nuclear families consisting of a mated pair, accompanied by the pair's adult offspring. The gray wolf is typically an apex predator throughout its range, with only humans and tigers posing a serious threat to it. It feeds primarily on large ungulates, though it also eats smaller animals, livestock, carrion, and garbage.
MYTHOLOGY | FOLKLORE
In Norse and Japanese mythology, wolves were portrayed as near deities: in Japan, grain farmers worshiped wolves at shrines and left food offerings near their dens, beseeching them to protect their crops from wild boars and deer, while the wolf Fenrir of Norse mythology was depicted as the son of Loki. Other cultures portrayed wolves as part of their foundation myths: in the mythology of the Turks, Mongols and Ainu, wolves were believed to be the ancestors of their people, while the Dena’ina believed wolves were once men, and viewed them as brothers. Wolves were linked to the sun in some Eurasian cultures: the Ancient Greeks and Romans associated wolves with the sun god Apollo, while the wolf Sköll in Norse mythology was depicted pursuing the setting sun. In Roman mythology, the Capitoline Wolf nurses Romulus and Remus, the future founders of Rome. According to the Pawnee creation myth, the wolf was the first animal to experience death. Wolves were sometimes associated with witchcraft in both northern European and some Native American cultures: in Norse folkore, the völva (witch) Hyndla and the giantess Hyrrokin are both portrayed as using wolves as mounts, while in Navajo culture, wolves were feared as witches in wolf's clothing. Similarly, the Tsilhqot'in believed that contact with wolves could cause mental illness and death.
THE SOURCE
The soul of the wolf was obtained from George, an old, weathered wolf that had been previously believed to be a dog.

 . . .
Name: Yves Mathieu Lecuyer
Origin: French Pronunciation: EEV Meaning: Yves [ yew ] Mathieu [ gift of God ] Lecuyer [ shield-bearer ]
Age: 30 but he looks Forever 21 Race: Human Birthday: February 10 - Aquarius (♒) Gender: Male Ethnicity: French Sexuality: (sHRUGS) Occupation: Yves owns a small grooming parlor not terribly far from his home; located near the more bustling center of Durem, The Pet Parlor (also referred to as Mud Puppies on occasion, fondly nicknamed for his beloved chihuahua/terrier mix) is quaint but well-maintained, ideal for dogs and even cats to come in for a variety of grooming options.
Residence: Rents a small house near the outskirts of Durem, living close to his parents' home. Not huge, but big enough to house himself and his pets comfortably; one of the reasons he chose it was for its spacious, fenced back yard.
Posting Color: ▊▊▊▊ ( e49a77 )

Height: 5' 6" Weight: 139 lbs Build: Small and willowy. Eye Color: Honey brown, framed by heavy lashes and thick, dark eyebrows. Hair Color: Sandy, dirty blonde. Hair Style: Short in the back, tapering into longer layers that are brushed forward and into his face somewhat. Usually starts out in some sort of style, but ends up messy by the end of the day. Skin Tone: Pale, burns easily and blushes often. Distinguishing Marks: None. Casual Attire: Yves cannot live a lie; he loves to dress fancy. He loves buttoned shirts and vests and cute pageboy hats and even ribbons, sometimes. He's a bit embarrassed by his preferred style, due to teasing, but that doesn't stop him from dressing like a Victorian doll when he feels like it. Uniform: He wears slacks or jeans, a nice shirt, and an apron while at work.
Flavor Text: Small and willowy, Yves walks with surprising presence for his youthful features and stature. Wide, honey brown eyes are often set into a scowl and are accompanied by thick, dark eyebrows. Sandy hair whips across his forehead in a side-swept cut, the rest tidy and combed back into a gentle curl at the nape of his neck. His attire consists of nice shirts and jeans, largely casual but he still takes care to appear professional when needed. Frequent walks around town gives him a sun-kissed appearance when the weather permits, but he always burns before he tans.

A stunted little baby who cries a lot.
Yves is a meddler and tries to be everyone's parent. An emotional, empathetic fellow who listens to your problems, he is a go-getter and believes that everyone should follow their dreams. He is compassionate, but stern, and wants to be there for people who can't stand up for themselves. Although he is well-meaning, he can be abrasive at times and even come off as curt or rude when uncomfortable. He tries to put others' feelings ahead of his own, however, and will always push to be polite first.
Yves grew up believing that you had to work for the things you want, and he doesn't tolerate laziness for long. Although he isn't always brimming with confidence, he tries to instill that in others the best he can. Despite this, he often denies his own need for help, as if vigorous work and philanthropy will help him avoid his own emotional needs.
He had a hard time making friends because he prioritized work and his family above other things. Classmates would come over to play, but could never stay long as chores had to be done. As he grew older and independent, Yves began to branch out and socialize, forgetting how much he loved simply hearing others talk.
Likes: Art, wildlife, exploring the outdoors, rainy days, a good book (mystery novels? yes. romance novels? yes.), coffee, tea, philanthropy, cute things.
Dislikes: Pushy people, the kinds of stains that never come out, political debates, public transportation (he would rather walk or ride a bike), bullies, animal cruelty, rude/crass behavior, laziness, sleeping in.
Hobbies: Reading, going on long walks, gardening with his mum, sketching/painting (although he isn't very good at all), playing the violin, dressing up (in, er, fancy outfits. He's actually pretty embarrassed by it), sewing. He's very good at sewing, fixing his own clothing and even crafting cute little animal dolls from time to time.

Yves grew up of a lower middle-class, in Durem. They got by, but he was often envious of other children's toys and new clothes. Yves and his sister, Idette, were no strangers to cleaning, organizing, cooking - whatever they were needed for. Yves found purpose in being helpful.
Every summer, the siblings would go see their grandparents. Owning Lecuyer Instrumental made them wealthy, but Yves' parents would refuse their money at every turn. They insisted on making their own way without relying on charity.
Eventually, Idette chose to stay with her grandparents permanently. Yves remained at home and took a job as soon as he could, but still took time to visit his grandparents when he could. When he moved out he remained close to his family, but began to branch out for himself, as well. Friends hosted parties, he met people. Even though dating had yet to work out, Yves opted for a couple pets; first, a cat, then a dog so the cat wouldn't be lonely. They bonded, despite their differences.
Having great interest in animals and their well-being, Yves took a job at a pet grooming salon and became an apprentice under the owner. The store was a trek from his home, but he gladly went to work, taking away as much from it as he could and gaining knowledge in grooming and advanced pet care. Although he greatly enjoyed his job, he found himself longing to own his own grooming parlor, closer to home.
With that in mind, Yves put himself through school to gain his business degree. Owning his own store and making his own schedule had always appealed to him, even from a young age. Regardless, starting a business was incredibly difficult. One had to have money, gumption, luck - or, in his case, rich grandparents.
Over time, Yves managed to turn his business into a thriving grooming salon, and made a decent living off of it. Despite remaining single (and contentedly so) for the majority of his adult life, Yves began to feel that something was indeed missing, something that tugged at his paternal heartstrings now and again. Happening upon an advertisement for Lab 305 encouraged him to begin seriously considering adoption, and after much thought, he applied to become a guardian for what would essentially be a child - a Raevan. It wasn't long after his application that everything began to change.

 . . .
Batilde Cosette Lecuyer: Yves' mother, a spry woman with a strong sense of family. She is prideful and fierce, but also loving and kind. She and Yves have tea together on Sundays, and he helps her out in her garden sometimes.
Albert Jude Lecuyer: The father of the household, Albert is quiet and has lines on his face from frowning. Not unkind, but firm and often terse, giving off the impression of a sour grape. Yves got his winning personality from his papa.
Idette Camille Lecuyer: The baby of the family, Idette always coveted the richer life and made a beeline for her grandparents' house at their first request. Now she is married and well taken care of. Although she loves the pampered life, she is no stranger to hard work, and can bust a job out as quickly as any of her servants.
Adam Alexis Lecuyer: The grandfather of the Lecuyer family. An old, short, kindly-looking man, Adam wants to spoil the heck out of his grandkids, but gets blocked by his own children almost every time. Owns Lecuyer Instrumental, and secretly paid for Yves to start his own grooming parlor. It's his grandson, damn it, he's going to pay for whatever he wants! This is for making him tone down the Christmas gifts all those years.
Colette Emeline Lecuyer: Yves' grandmother, a tall and sharp woman who towers over her husband. Looks very mean, but is very kind and tries to get Yves to come over as often as possible. She sends him letters (very old-fashioned, but Yves loves them so much) with pictures of cute dogs that she finds in magazines because she knows he enjoys them immensely. She was super pleased to help pay for Yves to begin his own business; after all, she and Adam had practically paid for Idette's entire life once she had moved in with them.
Pets: Yves owns two pets: Bubs, an adult Siamese cat that is equal part fat and lazy, and Peanut, a young and crazy chihuahua/terrier mix. The two are best friends, although Peanut tends to be wary of Bubs and his huge paws, and Bubs gets sick of Peanut always going for his meaty neck when they play fight in the yard.

Hector: A very close friend of Yves' and the previous owner of Yuri's soul, George the wolf. Fifty years old, Hector takes great care of himself and is much taller and stronger than Yves, which has earned him the forever role of being his on-call handyman. He currently works for Yves in his grooming salon. Yves has taken to being very meddlesome around Hector, which would grind on many peoples' nerves; thankfully, his easygoing personality allows him to take Yves' well-meaning intrusions in stride. Yuri is unsure of how he feels about Hector just yet.

. . . Located in Durem, Yves is currently renting-to-buy his home. He was drawn to its quaint charm and its white picket fence, which circles around the house and to a spacious back yard for his dog. Behind the house are woods, and somewhere in those woods rests George's body - the source of his raevan's soul - in an unmarked grave.
