ENCHANTMENT!

At a quiet booth set away from the rowdier carnival games
sits a third year reaper boil, a sorcerer named Brenley. You
know his name because his sign says so. Unless you can't
read. Then you know nothing.

Bren's spine is unnaturally straight against the back of his
chair, his eyes cast down at the notebook in front of him.
His hand moves slowly across the page every twenty
breaths or so, but if you get close enough to read what he's
written, he quickly closes the book and looks up at you, his
face pleasantly expressionless.

If you stick around, he holds out a soft bag full of plastic
markers, indicating that you should reach in and take one.

The boil takes your chit and notes the symbol carved onto its
face before placing it back in the bag. He reaches into a case on
the ground by his side and retrieves a second item, activates it
with an arcane phrase—or perhaps a nonsense word—then drops
it into your palm.

[ Note: If you leave the table with any of these items, their magic will
fail very suddenly once you have moved a little over ten feet away. ]

odor generator

He has handed you what appears to be a scareling's marble,
scuffed with age. For seemingly no reason at all, after he gives it to you,
he pulls a gas mask out from under the table and tugs it over his face. The
reason behind this action becomes clear soon enough, however. Your
skin begins to exude the most horrifying smell you can possibly imagine,
a smell so bad that everyone can see it in the air around you.
Thankfully, the odor disappears once you leave the booth, which you are
encouraged to do as soon as possible.

plastic surgery paste

The vial that Brenley has placed in your hand is filled with a bright
orange paste. If you choose to eat some, you'll find it tastes like
chicken, strangely enough, but even just getting it on your skin soon
leaves you with more to worry about than its flavor. Although the
sensation is not painful, you can feel the bone and cartilage in your
nose shifting and settling into a new shape. Sadly, there are no
mirrors around, so if you're not carrying one, you might try catching
your reflection in the large, golden pendant hanging around Bren's neck.

pocket expander

Brenley briefly explains what the spiraling shell in your hand
is meant to do: just drop it in a pants or jacket pocket and it will
increase the pocket's size dramatically. Or if not dramatically, then
two inches or so in every direction. More storage! Yay?

instant nap

As soon as this small, red pebble touches your skin, you fall
unconscious, waking up a few minutes later outside of the booth's
influence. The twin tracks on the ground and the dirt on your back
indicate that you've been dragged.

kushi-kushi summoner

For a time, nothing happens. Brenley turns his attention back
to his notebook, pen poised above its pages as he eyes a
nearby stopwatch. Just when you begin to wonder why you're
still standing here with a silver ring in your hand, you feel tiny
kushi-kushi claws clinging to your leg. You look down and are
greeted by the upturned faces of no less than thirty of the things.
You are their new overlord.

"translator"

The boil urges you to squeeze the small, smooth rock he handed
you harder and to think of five words, random or otherwise, as you do
so. Those words echo through your mind, morphing into five new gurgling
sounds that you understand are those same five words in a completely
different tongue. Good luck with that.

It's not clear what this dessert-plate-sized piece of stone does
until Brenley stands up and rests it on your head where it promptly
turns into a hat. How delightful. [ You choose your hat. ]

liquid purifier

Brenley lifts a clean glass out of his case, sets it on the table between
you, and fills it with several inches of fizzy, brown beverage. He
tips your hand, dropping the pebble he placed there into the drink.
The liquid grows lighter, its bubbles less dense. He motions for
you to take a sip, holding up a raffle ticket as ransom. If you do
as he asks, you find that it tastes an awful lot like flat Coke.

automatic duster/miniature wind machine

This hacky-sack-sized pouch of sand lands on your palm with a
mighty WHOOSH, eliciting a scowl from Brenley as it blows the
hair back away from his forehead. He hands you a raffle ticket and
waves you over to the far side of the table, indicating that you can
pick out a second prize from the bottles and brushes lined up there.

noisemaker

The moment this flat rock hits your hand, it begins to shriek like
a human stabbing victim. A few seconds later, a wide-eyed minipet
juts its head out from behind the booth and barks an equally
piercing reply. Seemingly immune to his dromaiusaurus's
vocal stylings, Brenley replaces the stone with a fuzzy poof
that rises and falls as it breathes. As soon as he touches the
rock, the noise stops. He shoos you along, speedily penning
a new note.
