PASSIONATE xxx»» Raised in an incredibly anti-establishment household, and one that grew even more so after the death of her mother, Dee was taught to speak her mind and always be true to herself. She feels very strongly and always lets people know so.
CREATIVE xxx»» The daughter of an artist and a musician, it was unavoidable that Dee would inherit the skill for and love of at least one of these paths. While she does enjoy painting for fun, what happened to her mother made her incredibly averse to ever pursuing a career in art. She focused on music, with her father to teach her, and flourished.
LOUD-MOUTHED xxx»» Dee has an incredibly hard time keeping her mouth shut, and rarely knows when to stop talking. An off comment can turn a friendly conversation into a heated debate, and she rarely backs down. She doesn't like losing and tends to run over people with her words, though she does have the grace to admit when she's wrong, however begrudgingly she does so and however mad she may be at the person.
REBELLIOUS xxx»» She was raised to question the status quo; the government, corporations, anything even remotely on a large scale that can control the lives of others, all of it is game for her critical eye and her rather vocal opinions. While she can see the good in some people, she tends to make snap judgements and has to be shown when someone in a position of power is using it for good.
OPTIMISTIC xxx»» In spite of Dee's anti-establishment bent, she does try to see the best in people. She focuses her attention on the good in the world, and when something bad happens, she generally predicts that some good will come of it (although sometimes the closest she gets is 'now they'll finally see how bad it is!').
CURIOUS xxx»» Dee loves to explore, either literally, like getting lost in the heart of a city and trying to find her way out, or just in her mind, by reading a good book or surfing the internet. She loves discovering knew things, like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant with the best fish and chips in town or a story she's never heard before from centuries ago. Her mind absorbs new information like a sponge, and she can never get enough of it.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Dee was the only child born to the O'Clerys, an Irish family living in Dublin. Her mother was an artist and her father was a musician, but they never made much money. They were a family of hippies, happy to live on what they could make for their talents and unwilling to sell out so long as there was food on the table and a roof over their heads, even if that meant sharing a small flat with friends, which it did for most of her early years. But, when she was six, her mother managed to attract the attention of a wealthy art aficionado, and the pair developed a relationship. Her art was put in galleries and sold for thousands of dollars, and the money rolled in. Unfortunately, the pressure was eventually too much for her mother, who killed herself when Dee was ten. From then on, it was just her and her father, living off of the money her mother had made in her time, in addition to what they made selling her paintings, the worth of which had predictably skyrocketed after her death.
SCHOOL YEARS
xxx»» After her mother's death, Dee's father became obsessed with family, and so he was reluctant to let Dee go. Besides that, she had always shown a talent for music, which he didn't want to see squandered in a school. So, she was homeschooled. Having her father as a teacher led her to developing a very specific set of opinions on life; namely, his, in most cases. She grew up as a rebel, questioning authority whenever her own opinions clashed with that of the establishment, and was always incredibly open-minded towards people but closed-minded towards them if they were in a position of power she thought they were abusing. She spent most of her teen years writing angsty anti-establishment songs and attending protests with her father.
ADULTHOOD
xxx»» Dee mellowed out as the years went on, deciding she preferred to focus on the brighter side of the world. Her values never changed, but her perspective did. Rather than writing about rebellion and trashing the system, she changed to focusing on love and togetherness and the power of positive thinking. She still gets along with her father, but tends to think that he overreacts to a lot of things and is incredibly pessimistic. She continued on the family tradition of living within the means provided by doing what she loves, and as such lives in a tiny flat in London. She spends almost everyday out on the streets, playing for tips, and trying to get gigs playing in coffeeshops and diners.
xxx»» A chance encounter with a particularly generous patron resulted in a new friend, a woman around her age named Marian. This resulted in a somewhat steady gig at Marian's brother's coffeeshop, as well as getting closer to said brother, named Johnny. The pair slept together after a night of drinking too much, and then did it again, and again, until they decided they were a couple. Unfortunately, they weren't particularly compatible outside the bedroom; Johnny was something of a homebody, and Dee hated the fact that he would never go do anything with her. Being naturally rebellious, she would often make plans to go out and do something without him when she knew she'd made plans with him already to 'punish' him, saying she couldn't keep track of their plans when their plans weren't really plans at all, just a casual 'I'll come over to your place and hang out' agreement.
xxx»» Upon discovering the magical world, her roaming grew even more adventurous, what with a whole new world to explore. The fact that technically her exploration of said world was illegal only made it more interesting to her. She ended up in a music shop in Diagon Alley, where she met Tassy, who introduced her to her friends. After the inevitable break up with Johnny, Dee was 'dragged' out on a pub crawl with Tassy and her boyfriend, where they met a Scot named Ruth. Ruth and Dee became fast friends, and suddenly the Irishwoman had a regular drinking/partying buddy.
xxx»» Their partying together brought them across the path of Riley Catlin, an encounter which Dee found baffling but satisfying, namely because it resulted in not just a night with Riley for her, but with Ruth as well. Dee had always had something of a thing for her best friend, but prior to that night, Ruth had insisted she was straight. A couple more chance encounters that seemed too coincidental to actually be chance, and the three of them had entered into a semi-serious/semi-casual polyamorous relationship, which they were all quite happy with. The best part for Dee was her and Ruth, who was a squib, getting to watch Riley squirm as he struggled not to reveal that he was a wizard to what he assumed were two muggles. The girls had recognized him as a famous Quidditch player (or, Dee had, Ruth could care less about the sport), but thought it funnier not to tell him they knew.
xxx»» Something of a wrench was thrown into the mix when Dee came up pregnant, obviously with Riley's child. She was surprised to discover that she wanted the baby, and grew paranoid that either Riley or Ruth would not. She went to her best friend first, who reassured her that, if Riley said he didn't want to be a father, they could raise the baby just fine without him. She then expressed concerns that Riley wouldn't want to continue their relationship as it was with a baby in the mix, an idea that Dee immediately dismissed by saying if he didn't want to be with both of them and a baby, they could raise the baby together and the could come to some sort of custody agreement with him. She'd rather lose her boyfriend than her best friend/girlfriend, after all. But, their worries proved pointless; things were a bit odd and rocky, of course, what with the pregnancy being rather unexpected and the situation being unique. But, they sorted things out well enough, and welcomed Norah Mclarin into the world.
