Youma ESP - Piper can sense youma, although she has yet to quite figure out that youma are actually what she's sensing. As far as she's aware she just has an acute sense of something wandering around in the city. As to how she acquired it, that is also a mystery, though she suspects that government experimentation is likely.
Hobbies
Flute - Piper's first and favorite hobby, of course, is to play the flute. Whenever she can find extra time to whip it out, she'll do so, regardless of who she's around and sometimes with little regard to the situation. If she's not in the middle of class, she's probably going to find time to play. She lives and breathes for the sound of music, pouring her heart and soul into her performance. She began lessons as a young child and took to them instantly, spurred onward by the harmonic melodies she was soon immersed in. Despite her natural talent and extraordinary gift with the flute, she is utterly useless at any other musical instrument, despite the attempts her parents often made to get her to ‘expand’. No other sound quite captures her heart like the sound of her flute, thus she could never quite get herself to commit to other instruments. She only does one thing, but she does it exceptionally well.
Gazing - Be it at clouds, stars, people, or absolutely nothing, Piper likes to just stare off and ponder the meaning of life. Okay, maybe not the meaning of life, but she's thinking about something. We hope.
Virtues:
Whimsical – Piper has an almost child-like nature, although it’s not surprising with her head full of daydreams and fantasy. She enjoys being unpredictable and doing things without a plan. She is full of a life and charm that she tries to capture others with and is never happier than when someone agrees to one of her fanciful ideas. If her day consists of nothing more than dancing in the rain or making paper snowflakes, nothing else could be more perfect. She is great for cheering others up, mostly because it never seems like anything gets her down.
Imaginative – With her head always in the clouds, her imagination is always running wild and her mind is always working in some way. Although at times she may appear empty-headed, she can surprise others on some occasions by offering imaginative solutions to problems. She looks at things from an entirely different perspective than the average person, approaching problems from a different angle. Although her ideas may not always work or be a perfect solution, they may give that extra push that others need to find a real solution.
Kind – Piper never seems to see flaws in others, and as such, she treats everyone the same. She doesn’t appear to have a mean bone in her body and would certainly never say something that she thought was intentionally cruel. She may be too blunt betimes due to her inability to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate topics of conversation, but she is typically unbearably sweet.
Flaws:
Head in the clouds – Piper is a daydreamer with a terribly short attention span. When it comes to anything but her music, she often zones out. She can sit for hours staring at clouds (or even the ceiling) with no idea of what’s going on around her. She zones out in group conversation, completely loses focus in class, and has a bad habit of wandering off in the middle of something if she finds something else suitably distracting. This often means she has to have a tutor for nearly every class (barring music) to help her make up for lost time.
Socially Awkward – Piper is not exactly the best people-person. It’s not that she’s mean, or even rude, but more that she has an odd sense of propriety concerning others. She asks personal questions without a thought as to why it would be inappropriate. She has no sense of personal space and won’t think twice about reaching out to stroke someone’s hair uninvited or hug someone she only just met. It’s also not uncommon for her to randomly speak her thoughts aloud to others, some of which are not always greatly appreciated. Despite the fact that she is so awkward, she seems to have absolutely no idea that others view her this way, and thus she has never really had any motivation to try and be more ‘normal’.
Naïve – Unsurprisingly, with her lack of understanding others and social situations in general, Piper also has a bad habit of not being able to read the most basic body language or understand hidden meanings. She trusts everyone and everything and probably wouldn’t think a man with a knife was any more dangerous than the puppy standing next to him. It takes something very shocking to change her view of others, and her world otherwise seems to be primarily composed of rainbows and sunshine.
Irresponsible – It can be blamed on her whimsical nature, or her short attention span, but she acts extremely irresponsible a vast majority of the time. She often forgets assignments or chores and rarely takes responsibility for her actions. It’s not because she sees herself as in the right, or incapable of making mistakes, she simply often chooses to brush the subject away with a smile or a pretty song as she’s not one to really comprehend lectures.
History:
Piper was born to earth-loving hippie parents, Sunny and Echo. Also know as Saul and Elen Haswell, they are a peculiar brand of people that raised a peculiar little girl. Sunny has his own business inventing and selling eco-friendly products and, on the side, volunteers at multiple events to preach the ways of mother nature. Echo, along with helping her husband at these many events, is also a counselor that writes her own unique brand of self help books. They are both on the older side of the parenting spectrum, having had Piper later in their lives when their 'energies' were 'properly aligned' with mother nature.
In addition to her biological parents, Piper was partially raised by a woman named Trinity Osbourne. Trinity came into the Haswells' lives shortly before Piper was born and is significantly younger than both of them. Despite this fact, Trinity loves them both dearly and unconditionally, and vice versa. As far as Piper is concerned, Trinity is just as much her mother as Echo is. Luckily for Piper, Trinity is also a lot more "stable" than her biological parents and was the only real sanity Piper had in her life.
Right before Piper's 16th birthday, she went missing. She was gone for many months and her parents had started to resign themselves to the fact that she was taken back by mother nature. Just as her parents had begun to lose hope, Destiny City Police busted an underground black market organ trafficking ring and Piper was found. After spending a few weeks in the hospital (mostly to assess her condition) Piper was released to her parents.
Piper, fortunately, was quite the resilient child. Despite a few lingering nightmares and a bit of a sobering up personality wise, she was still very upbeat and managed to fade back into her normal life almost immediately. Though she missed quite a bit of important school work and fell behind a grade, she is more or less able to function in public.
In fact, the biggest issue Piper has had to overcome since she was brought back to the land of the sane was the fact that she had a little sister on the way. Love stops for no one and least of all her parents, who found coping in it. Piper would hardly call it a problem though, as she finds peace in her not-quite-so-normal family.

Sue Gottschalk - A cat loving boy that Piper met in Barren Pines. They were in the same house and she's pretty positive she was with him past the time her memory starts to get fuzzy. She considers him one of her closest friends.
Calintha Johnson - A sweet girl that loves plants that Piper met at Barren Pines. Her memory of her is a little fuzzy.
Andeon Boskovic - A boy Piper met at Barren Pines briefly while she was with Sue. He had a strange pet, though Piper can't remember what it was.
Yahya Grant - A nice boy Piper met at Barren Pines who loves animals. Her memory of him is a little fuzzy.
