Name: Jashua Aldon (Pronounced exactly like Joshua)Gender: Female
Age: 20; Born November 13, AL 88
Patrol: White Shadow
Rank: Private Apprentice; Patron Alister Shields.
Personality: Jashua, often called Josh, is overly enthusiastic and sometimes klutzy because of it. Jashua wants almost nothing more than to be useful, to be able to help out in some kind even if she doesn’t get remembered for it. Jashua, called simply Josh most of the time, is often the first to volunteer to help or offer information. She will obey the request or command from anyone who asks, even if it wasn’t exactly directed at her and even if the person is of a lower rank then her, which at this point there is no one lower in rank then her. Jashua however hasn’t always been like this, during her childhood and early teens she was rather depressed. She was scared she would spend the rest of her life as just a farmer’s daughter, unable to do anything to help what was left of mankind.
Jashua doesn’t always pick up on things quickly, and it frustrates her when she doesn’t. Her parents never really put much pressure on her as a child, she was actually much left to do her own thing, and as such Jashua puts a large amount of pressure on herself. She will often try and push herself harder and farther than she can actually go in her determination to help and be useful. Over her years as a recruit and having been turned away by the wolves twice she has convinced herself she’ll never be good enough to be a Wolfrider, but she keeps pushing because she also knows that she still has a year left to try and make a bond, to try and be useful.
History: Jashua was born in the small one room farmhouse outside of the city. Her father Regan had always insisted on living with his crops, he was better able to take care of them that way. Jashua’s mother Yvone was against this but there was no way for her to convince Regan to live in the city. And so Yvone had to travel the distance between the farm and The City twice a week to sell the clothes and blankets she wove from the patch of cotton she had convince Regan to grow so she could continue to work and make more money for the family. Even so though the two of them were barely able to support themselves. And when Yvone became pregnant she saw it as a curse. For one they didn’t have the room in the house for a baby, and for two they didn’t have the income to support it.
When Jashua was born both her parents were forced to double their workload to take care of the growing infant. Because of this as soon as she was old enough to walk she was often left to take care of herself, yes her mother would check in on her from time to time over the day until she was older but as a young child she lacked the parental attention most children needed. Her parents never hid from her their financial problems and as such Jashua grew up thinking to herself that she was absolutely useless and nothing but a burden. When she was 10 she began insisting her mother allow her to help with the weaving and harvesting the cotton. She helped for four years but she simply didn’t have the talent and tended to rush through it to get more done, resulting in poor quality work. At fourteen her mother forced her to quite so Jashua turned to her father. She helped her father for a month before both of her parents simply gave up. They didn’t truly want their daughter to leave but they simply didn’t have the means to take care of her, and after her father had made her stop helping him as well she slipped back into a depression. Finally her parents decided she needed something to work for and agreed to send her to The Academy, maybe there they could find something she was good for.
Jashua was 15 upon entering the Academy, and she began to work hard and study diligently. Her disposition began to improve as she had something to strive for. She had never seen a Wolf and Rider before, and after meeting a Pair she became absolutely smitten with the idea. When she became 18 she was ecstatic, but when she stood at the cave and was not chosen she was disappointed. All that work for nothing. She stood again the next year and was turned down again, was there something wrong with her? Now twenty years of age she looks towards the next time she gets to stand before the caves with both hope and fear, knowing soon she will be too old to stand and truly become a useless burden on society, her worst fear.
Then finally her day came. Standing outside the caves at the first Bonding on her last season at the Academy a small black and orange bundle emerged from the cave. Jashua’s eye’s blurred as she felt the connection form and she fell to her knees. Imprinted on her vision was the blurred image of the pup bounding towards her, her orange paws and underbelly leaving a wake of fire behind her. FlameWake was her pup. Later she was sent to White Shadow. And as she waited for her Patron pulled out the letter she had received days before from her close friend Loche. The letter that would change her entire life.
